Please does anyone know how to get rid of the autotext option in 6.1?? its soo annoying
Install this cab file and your problems will be solved...
And see this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2006230&postcount=186
Before you install this, download "Excalibur_eT9_Lang_Pack_v1.cab" from that thread and install it first. I'd uploaded it here but some reason the board wont let me.

Got this working!
1. install

Excalibur eT9 cab file
2. use a registry editor and go to
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layout\e0010409
change the string value of
Ime File = et9ime.dll
Layout Text = eT9 IME
then reboot
the only bug is that the "SYM" key doesn't show the symbols

This is what I did and I exchanged the ...kmap.txt in the \windows folder with the one attached. Now it works! Even the SYM key.
Thanks for the update!
What line edits the SYM button? Just want to fix that button not working in my kmap.txt file.

0xE9 is the SYM/Camera key (last line in .txt file) and the 0xFA opens the symbol page.
BTW: I also have the german version of the kmap file. Just put it in \windows

You can try to duplicate the file sym.0409.txt in the windows folder and name this new file sym.0407.txt. It worked for me for the french keyboard (sym.040C.txt in french).
What Atmis said, I simply modified the sym.0409.txt file in /Windows so I easily could type Swedish characters such as å,ä & ö with a/o + space. You need to copy it over to your computer with active sync, edit the file then move it back.

Already tried to copy the origional sym.409.txt to sym.407.txt (german) but when i press the "blue" space nothing happens.
You need to replace the sym.0409.txt file if your OS is in English.

Actually i've 3 files (for testing) sym.0409.txt, sym.0407.txt, sym.txt and it does not work.
Having Hermes with QWERTZ keyboard (switzerland) and English WM6 (Vanilla)
That's interesting. I had the same issues when upgrading my device to AKU 3.3. After some changing forward backward between English and German Keyboard it suddenly worked.
I also upgraded a second device and I cannot get the space key working to change between the special letters.
I know it does not help but maybe it's an device bug. I will downgrade the device the other device when I can get it back again and see if it works with the original image.
It was working flawlessly for me, I just had to reboot the device after creating the new file.

... After HardReset, installing the "German Input Cab", modifiying sym.0409.txt and a reboot everything is working fine...
Probably some manipulation described in the wiki i made before installing the cab made the changes...
finally it works. thanks to all
Ehm. I am not trying to sound stupid or anything. but how do I find this"sym.409.txt"? I would like to change some of the keys into norwegian symbols like æ, ø and å.
I have just heard something about the root folder.
But in that case. where is it, I assume that I am just being blind or something but.
THanks for your help

Not blind, the file is hidden, at least on my system with Josh Manulla2D.
To see the file in Windows, using File Explorer, click on "Menu/Show All Files".
My problem is that I have made changes for my German keyboard on an English language install, but I cannot replace the file in \Windows. All I get is an Access Denied message.
Anybody know how I can get past this to replace the sym.409.txt file?
Task Manager is installed so surely it must be some service that needs killing to free up the file.
Regards
Peter

The file you need to change is the Bkgnd_Port.bmp in the windows folder. I think the letters are drawn over this background. I tried to change this file but I faced 2 issues:
1. When saved the file size went from 27Kb -> 220Kb
2. The Greek letters added on the top left corner of eah button were not displayed correctly on the phone.
I suppose I'm not using the right program for editing the Bkgnd_Port.bmp
If you try to change it, too you have to copy it with Total Commander and the soft reset.
Any ideas?

Hmm i give it a try tommorow.. thanks m8
I've edited the Bitmap and I also got a ~220K file.
I've tried it and the dialer is still putting the numbers/English characters bitmaps on top of the Bkgnd_Port file so it's blocking the new characters I've added.

Totally stuck
Hi guys,
I am totally lost here. I kindda understand what the Wiki explains but to use it I get stuck. I am completely new to this whole business. bought a used blue angel (everything working on it) with a WM 2003 on it italian language. all I wanted was to swith from italian to english (or WWE as you guys call it). I do know that my ROm is 1.12.24 ITA Radio 1.03 and no value for extRom. that is what it showed when I tried to use one of the numerous updates available on XDA. first it showed me error 102 checksum error then country ID error. so I used the Ruu file and added the Checkceid_1 command as u suggested on wiki for blue angel. anyway I am stuck. now even the WM2003 italian is no longer available since I hard-reseted my BA. all I see now on the screen is windows mobile with some italian gibberish under it.
Serious help needed please.
Thank you

Copy the link to the Windows directory on your phone. This will make the IE button bring up the Task Manager. If you want it to execute something else, edit the link. I used Total Commander for the editing.
Thank you sesinger

It will, however, not give you the full TAB funcionality. If you're used to using the TAB key for jumping from one field to another this doesn't work.

If you are using the english keyboard layout, you can edit the file eT9.Rhodium.wwe.kmap.txt in the windows directory to map one of the keys to TAB.
I have attached a copy that maps "fn + T" to "Tab" if that's all you are looking for. Just copy it to a folder in your TP2 and use resco/total commander to copy it to your windows directory.
P.S: If you are going to edit it further, remember to save it as unicode or else your keyboard will not function correctly. To revert back to the original keyboard settings, just delete the file from the windows directory and it'll revert back to the original file that came with the ROM.
The up/down arrow keys send you from one field to the next
I use PQzII (http://www.nicque.com/PQz/PQzII.htm) to map "Ctrl + Q" to "Tab", I also installed HookMgr from (http://www.mobiion.com/)

Go to HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\Ime\KeyboardLayouFiles and look at what file is registry key "07FF" is pointing to. That's the file that is currently being used to define the mapping rules. Copy it out to your pc and amend it using notepad and save it as a unicode txt file.
There are instructions in the txt file itself - you can amend the mapping of other keys if you desire.

Hi rotastrain
I am using Duttys Latest Leo R2 ROM and I am unable to find the file specified.
I did use Total commander and specified to search for hidden ,system files

In this ROM the right softkey is assigned for Menu funtions and need not be reassigned.
But the left softkey can be reassigned to either Camera or Comm Manager ..

Since the title said 2.5 Manila I assumed this thread was for only the new manila..
here is my 7c60907d_manila
Left SW key I think is stored in "07c67730_manila"
Unfortunately I can not modify this file with "m9editor3.3.0.1"
Showing an error during compilation
Even though the file only compiles and de compile then again (no change in the file), the error is there, too
Any idea how to change the file

My current work around is to leave the soft key and to remap the hard key
It is quite annoying not to be able to change the soft keys...as someone said here, the default ones are quite redundant...and, wtf, no one from HTC though it is useless?
Why do I need a phone softkey since it is easier to press the phone hard key?
The only worthy softkey is the menu one, at least for manila 2.5...cause through this key it is possible to change the quick link and related today screen stuffs...
