I have the chance to sell my P3600 and get a Touch Cruise but P3600 had served me well and I am very happy with it and especially with all the goodies (New Roms from all the Shefs make P3600 very valuable) .....
Dunno what to do.....
I have my hands also the touch Cruise but it feels like a cheap one and not as solid as P3600.... further more the screen of P3600 is a bit larger than Touch Cruise and the camera of Touch Cruise is kinda a bit slow to capture something that moves...... meh.... maybe a rom update will fix all these
I know touch cruise is better than P3600 performance wise but I bought P3600 when it released so I am a bit in touch with it ....
so if you were in my position will you sell your oldy P3600 ???
Hi,
It is your decision but in my opinion Cruise is better then P3600. it has the same processor but mor RAM and better camera. It's mor future then P3600.
Regards
No.
Wait a couple of months more for next generation of devices from HTC. It will be very interesting. P3600 is still very advanced PDA phone, Cruise is uglier, have bad video drivers, bad FM radio, loose buttons, inferior battery.
Very interesting informatios. Do You user this phone?

Do you have any idea what to expect from these new models?
No, I don't work for HTC or something, I just read and look what's going around, after iPhone launch the new revolution has begun, we can expect lot of goodies from HTC and likes, I guess it will be higher resolutions screens, slicker devices, just look at Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, everyone will try to beat it, and remember, it's built in HTC
I have/had the same problem too.
I have the opportunity to have a new phone with a discount because of my actual phone contract... But actually, none of the HTC devices convinced me really.
I was thinking to take a Polaris (which is better than Trinity: AGPS, RAM/ROM, FM)… But nothing really revolutionary.
When I changed my wizard to Trinity, this was a real big jump… And I want to have the same sensation.
Actually I am waiting for the Next HTC devices in September.

Yeap I had also the Wizard and changed it to Trinity and indeed that was a big jump...
I played a bit with the Touch Cruise this weekend but didnt feel any BIG difference ...
Anyway I think I will wait a bit for the next release of HTC ... or maybe go for another model if HTC don't improve their pda ...
btw are you sure that next release of HTC devices will be in September ?

Not sure
But... As I remember:
The 2.5" with keyborads came around August-Septemer (Wizard, TyTN, TyTN-II)
The 2.5" inches without keyboard came around 3 months later (S200, Trinity, Polaris)
Oh my god...is it our next beauty....

Interesting. I sold my wizard 2 weeks ago and i bought the next day Trinity.
Trinity is a great pda and i am going to use it for 1 year or so. Until the next generation of HTC with same functions, vga screen and hopefully next generation of batteries( i read about 10x boost on lion batteries 2 months ago).
Keep trinity
I have trinity for more than a Year, and the touch cruise is the first device that would make me think twice before buying trinity. But if you have a trinity, just stick with it... Touch cruise is the main reason for not having official WM6 for Trinity, because Trinity with WM6 is almost as good as Touch Cruise. Think for a while what are the extra features that you really need from Touch Cruise:
The extra RAM?
The extra ROM?
The extra resolution on the camera?
And remember you would lose this:
1500mA battery.
The mini SD (higher capacity than micro SD).
So If you have a Trinity keep it as long as it works fine. If you don't have a Trinity maybe you should choose Touch Cruise, because it comes with WM6 and all the HTC apps right out of the box.
Edit:
Forgot these extras:
Radio FM
Faster GPS
The mini SD (higher capacity than micro SD). <-probably not higher but cheaper and you will not be able to use the card you have on touch.
I think I will have to wait for the next gen of pdas like the Nvidia one
http://www.nvidia.com/object/hh_games_demos.html
@n0t: Do not forget: AGPS + RAdio FM
@wolfmenace: I do not think that we will see HTC device like this before at least two years...

Yes, this is true. I'm using a 8gb microSD in my Trinity with a miniSD adapter. I've tried many cards and this is the most reliable card I've ever used in my Trinity.
I think if you already have a Trinity, there isn't much in switching to a TouchCruise, unless you must have it, then why not. If you are just coming to the game of these mobile devices then do the price/performance comparison. Either one of these devices are near the top of the pack...for now.

trinity versus polaris
I have had the 2 devices for testing purpose.
The trinity is great
The polaris is greater BUT not enough to sell a trinity and buy a polaris.
The more interesting thing is the agps wich enable the gps to have a lock 3 or 4 times faster than trinity.
On the cons, the buttons and wheel are far more eeeehhh, difficult to say for a non englishman as my english is far from perfect but let says "far more reachable" so you can touch them without wanted it and in your pocket you must be sure that the buttons are locked.
Comparison tests
Are there any perfomance comparison tests online between the two units (with WM6 on trinity)?
The NVIDIA's look promising, but also look at the iPhone.
I have had the Trinity for over a year (after a Wizard,) and thought it was possibly the best phone available then. But after my wife got an iPhone few months ago, I've been feeling a bit primitive. I have not traded my Trinity, only because I actually use the GPS when traveling.
The iPhone is just so much more usable, it's not funny. The screen is great and it doesn't make my eyes blurry after looking at it (like the Trinity,) and the UI is just light years ahead.
If the next iPhone gets a real GPS, there will be no contest.

Hi guys,
I am in two minds as to what my next purchase should be. I like the new HTC Polaris and it is what I know, as I currentlt have an Artemis. However the screen resolution is low, not VGA 640x480 which I would like in my next PDA.
I have noticed a few devices which are made by E-Ten that seeem to do all that the artemis does - but they do have a vga screen such as the x800 and x500 models.
Has anyone tried one of the models and would they recommend them? Also do they have a lively developer/modding scene like the Artemis?
Thanks - underzone
eten is very good pda phone, more fast than HTC, but their production will discontinue.
The ETEN looks like a good phone but there's more support for HTC phones. And now that I have a touchflo ROM, I don't know how I could go back to not having touchflo.
I have used 3 mode Eten PDA.And for me HTC better because can mod Rom for your PDA
Polaris for me look very cool, use chip QualComm 7200 (fast) Touch Flo 2.....and...
===> Polaris +1
I had the same dilema, I have an artemis wich I love, but I have it for a year already and HTC is not putting out anythig much better for me to upgrade (and it does not look like they are planning on launching any good vga device soon) so I ordered the Eten X800, it is supposed to get here tomorrow, I'll compare them and will let you know what I think.
P.S. The only thing that stops me from leaving HTC is this site, there is no such a thing for any other brand out there. And I'm hooked.

Yeah its this forum & the excellent brewed roms that really makes me want to stick with an HTC... but then again I do really want a VGA screen. decisions, decisions...
How about the new P5500 - slimmed down artemis with touch interface, keyapd, gps, HSDPA etc...
http://www.unwiredview.com/2007/08/08/htc-5500-nike-touch-slider/
Thinking about Asus, doubts are the processor and the screen size but like the size slightly smaller than the orbit, but little in it, I do miss a keypad.
http://www.devicewire.co.uk/Asus-P526
I got the x800 today, and it is a good pda but I don't think you can compare it to the artemis, the screen is nicer and having 3g it's a whole different browsing expierence, but apart from that it is a bit slow and the design is not as nearly as nice. It's not a bad pda, if it was my only pda I would gladly keep it, but choosing between this and the artemis, I would for sure keep my artemis until I'll find something else. (Maybe I'll try the gigabyte Gsmart i350, if I can get hold of it in america)
Previously got an Eten G500, nothing to do with X500 neither X800.
But i really, really prefer the artemis !
G500 was big, heavy, rom was unstable, and materials used was bad quality and many plastics cracks, painting surface goes away,...
Now i'm really happy to have sold it...
Polaris ===> +1

For me it has to be either Polaris or iMate 9502 - 9502 has VGA, same memory as Polaris (eten is short) and still has all the hardware buttons dropped on the Polaris...
Hi, I'm deciding on what phone to get the Artemis or the Polaris.. Can u guys help me in choosing what phone to get? thx..
Go for the Polaris you get twice the processor speed and twice the memory plus the Touch interface, in my opinion the Touch Cruise is a grown up version of the Artemis, something called "progress"
I have used my Artemis for 18 months and still think it is a decent device, but the poor availability of memory lets it down, the TC is far better equipped from day one IMH - Mike
thx.. Do u know any1 website that sell the Cruise for cheap? & that's the Cruise have 'Tom,tom"?
He friends - when the first Touch came out I bought it and was so unsatisfied ref. the keyboard that I changed the device - also because the perforamce was pretty slow
Let me ask you - is the No. 2 now faster and much better ???
Hi,
The touch-pro 2 has some hardware improvements, but none concerning it's speed. The software that's delivered by HTC is further optimized and is a lot faster. Also the version of the processor that's included has changed in the TD2 & TP2. This probably means that the processor has been more optimized too.
I expect the TP2 to be faster in use, because of the new well working software (Shell). Next to that, it will be easier to work with because of the bigger screen.
About the keyboard, looking at some video's about pre-releases of the phone, every reviewer says the keyboard is one of the best ever. I haven't seen any lag when people were typing.
I think normal all-day use (agenda, mail, phone, sms, etc) will be faster and more accessible. But gaming, or other 3th party software that requires a lot of horsepower,....... Just don't expect the TP2 to be a lot better/faster. But then again, htc targets the bussines world.
I suggest you look into other topics and look for reviews (youtube: touch-pro2 review), so you can see for yourself.
I'm upgrading from my Hermes . The reason why I won't wait for other 1 gigz phones? Playing 3d games, just won't work on phones cause of the louzy controls and little screen. Other than that, I can't think of reasons why I would want a 1 Gighz phone. Battery will be empty faster and it will take a year before the new processors will be fully optimized. (not to think of the heat the new processors will make)

Specifically, the drivers are believed to have been improved to address some graphics hangups. It's hard to know what any particular user means when they complain about performance.
If, peter, you're referring to the TF3D interface, you'll probably be pleased. There are a ton of video previews out there on youtube now, so head on over and watch it in action. Those videos are the next best thing to actually using one.
So what could your advice be - to wait for the new toshiba with th ebig display, take the diamond 2 or the touch 2 ???
THANKS a lot

Depends, what kind of user you are.
What kind of phone do you have now? Is it with an hardware keyboard and do you message a lot?
What do you do with you current phone? What do you like, what do you miss?
Do you put you phone in you pocket?
I'm also getting the touch pro2 because there aren't going to be many other phones with an hardware keyboard in the near future. As for only touchscreen phones, I would wait. There are comming a lot new phones in the near future.
If you have a fairly recent phone (touch pro 1 for example) I also would wait for a new phone. That's because new phones keep comming and I don't have the money to keep buying new phones.
(as for the slow touch pro 1, try some home cooked roms from this site. There are probably some real fast ones in the tp1 forum).
Does touch pro2 have an hardware keyboard ???

Go to HTC.com and go to the HTC touch pro2 page. You'll see all hardware specs.

But just saw, this info isn't available in the US. So sorry (the webpage I've given is the UK version)
it will be on the market in june. the release dates differ per country. In western europe it will be Junu 5 or 12.
In amerika it also can be July, but I expect end June
Let's face it people. When the TP2 was announced it was looking like a great device and a possible Xperia replacement. Now, after it is out, I can safely say that it has both bad hardware and software. I will hang tight to my Xperia for the time being.
Here is why I do not like the TP2:
No 3.5 m headphone jack - LOL. In 2009...............
No flash/LED on the camera - Again, it is 2009 and this is a high end device.....
No D-pad or other directional buttons on the front - They say the software is optimized for that kind of use. Well, what about the 10k apps I want to install, that require a d-pad?
No FM radio/disabled by firmware - Why??? That is the stupidest decision by a phone manufactirer ever.
Same processor as the TP. 520mhz qualcom, although the TP2 has an older version !!!!!!!!! - Older version on a model that is supposed to be a successor???
TP - MSM 7201 A
TP2 - MSM 7200 A
Same storage space as the TP.
Same ammount of RAM, although the TP2 has 20mb LESS RAM available to it. I repeat, the newer version has less RAM available!!!
TP2 has a better battery than the TP, BUT worse battery life! How about that huh???
Good things:
Nice screen. (tilting)
5 row keyboard. (awesome)
Noise cancelation.
How is the Touch Pro 2 an upgrade?? It has ther same or LOWER specs than the Touch Pro. I feel cheated by HTC . My advice is - Keep your Touch Pro or Xperia and wait for the TP3 or X2.......
I haven´t tested myself
But I must agree with you!
How possible is no 3.5mm jack??
My Universal from 2005 has it and is extremelñy usefull!, of course an adapter can be found but....
Don´t want to repat all your points but thank you very much for pointing it here
Not a real replacemet for my beloved Universal not even for Xperia
Let´s hear what users have to say about this
Some good points but I disagree with:
1. No 3.5 m headphone jack - LOL. In 2009 - I never understood why anyone would want an extra hole in their device. the adapter works perfect for me and yes, its 2009, i have wireless headphones lol.
2. No FM radio/disabled by firmware - Why??? That is the stupidest decision by a phone manufactirer ever - i installed the cab and it works perfect. who cares how it comes if you can simply install a cab file to change it. All part of customizing your device IMHO
3. Same processor as the TP. 520mhz qualcom, although the TP2 has an older version !!!!!!!!! - Older version on a model that is supposed to be a successor??? - do you actually know this proc is worse or are you just saying this due to the model #?
4. Same storage space as the TP. - who cares about internal storage when you have an expansion card?
5. TP2 has a better battery than the TP, BUT worse battery life! How about that huh??? - not sure where you got that lol. my tp2 has much better battery life then the tp1
not really feeling you advice not to buy it. I had an HD and this phone blows it away in every way. just my 2 cents

1 - Yes, having an adapter is so cool......... I want to plug my headphones not look for the stupid adapter EVERY.SINGLE.TIME.
Wireless headphones are used by a very small percent of people. Most people (like me) prefer NOT to have two devices to charge when you want to take your music with you.
2 - That is not customizing. Installing programs and tweaking is customizing. This is poor care for the customer on HTC's part and smells of an unfinished device. How would you feel if they had left out TouchFlo 3D? Or part of it?
3 - That is what I know from doing my research. If my info is correct.
4 - I do. Many apps don't work if you install them on the SD card. They auto install in the main storage.
5 - All the reviews I have seen mention it, plus a friend of mine has both phones and has confirmed that for me.
Agreed on the part that TP2 is better than the HD. HD sucks even more. You should definitely make the upgrade to TP2.
I have the following phones:
Kaiser
Diamond
Touch HD
Xperia
Touch Pro 2
and have bought them in that order - never sold any of these
I agree with Mallman: can't see the point in saying that it sucks.
I have been using my TP2 today with the following usage:
140' phone calls (onehundred forty)
20' Opera browsing
Exchange mail push always on
2 POP3 mail account syncing with 10' time frame.
Received and read over 50 mails.
Still have 10% battery left after 14 hours of THAT kind of use - just out of the box, haven't had the time to work on energy consumption parameters under Advanced Config.
Can't really see any difference with my Xperia. Touch HD has performed less.
Radio is ok.
Have a 8 GB SDHC card, with extreme satisfaction.
And believe me, I have tried all the keyboards of these phones, nothing compares to this one. Screen is superb, speed also.
IT has BETTER battery life (don't listen to pocketnow.com, they are the onlyones who are saying that. FM radio has been left out. Reason unknown, so hard to say if it is a bad decision. Does the processor id number mean it's older? Has it been released before? It's not always so that a higher number means newer.
The TP2 is actually faster (not only touch flo 3D) then the touch pro.
Maybe they should make also a HDMI and firewire connection...... That would make sense. There are really small usb mini to 3,5 minijack converters. ANd the mini usb is multi functional.
Please stop talking about the flash, there have been real flash phones, but only very little. This is because after 3 flashes, the battery is empty. That LED light, was fun, but never really used it. keyboard has been improved. Original wm 6.5 upgrade.
Looks are much better. I almost never used my dpad, only when something was to small to select. But the bigger screen and better resolution solves that. I have to admit that a jogdial (like on the hermes) would be a good thing.
So in your oppinion every device has to have a mini jack? So I think you get that I don't agree with you

I was at a club last night with some friends and it was kinda dim. My Xperia was the only phone with any kind of flash and I was the only one that could take pics. I really can't imagine anyone arguing in favour of not having a flash. That is hilarious. Same goes for 3.5mm jacks.
I had a couple of devices without D-pads (including HD for a while). I have to say that many of the apps require a D-pad or are easier to work with, if you have one.
Agreed on the screen, keyboard and looks (as mentioned in the OP).
For the lack of flash, you are completely right.
I see no point in selling phones without a flash - even a sucking one would be better than nothing.
As for me, I use these phones for my job, so usually in daylight.
Wish I had more spare time to spend in clubs during the night: would have certainly a different phone

all i gotta say is this: have you actually used the device? half of whats written on the web is not from actual use but pure conjecture. i actually own the device and have an x1 and blackstone. x1 cannot compare with this phone on any level. blackstone has a bigger screen and that about it! when you actually use the device then i will take on board your views but for now as an actual owner i am sorry to say your research is inaccurate, my experience is hands on!

Don't think I'd be laughing out TOO loudly at the lack of a 3.5 jack. In 2009 people are still using the things? Good heavens, get up to date!
No camera flash? Yeah it would be nice, but hardly a show stopper not having one.
No D-PAD? Erm...that's kinda the point, isn't it? If you want a D-PAD that badly, then of course you don't want this phone. I have over 40 application on my Vogue and I almost never use the D-PAD. I can't wait to get a phone that gets rid of the space-waster.
FM Radio disabled? There may be a good reason - too early to tell. Same was true of my Vogue's GPS chip. Took awhile to get a firmware update, but disabling it by default was the best option they had at the time.
Old Qualcomm Chip - Well, they didn't need to update the chip, did they? They saved a boatload of money by not manufacturing it with a new chip, and spent far less money instead optimizing the speed of the firmware. Pretty good deal, I'd say.
Same storage space - There's a handful of apps that require storage on board, but it's not likely you're going to run into so many of those that you run out of space when you have even a modest sized storage card.
20 MB less RAM - ok, so you have less excess than before. It's still excess.
Worse battery - Umm...no, I don't think so. You're not gonna get that one to fly. Everyone who has the device knows better.

all i gotta say is this: have you actually used the device? half of whats written on the web is not from actual use but pure conjecture. i actually own the device and have an x1 and blackstone. x1 cannot compare with this phone on any level. blackstone has a bigger screen and that about it! when you actually use the device then i will take on board your views but for now as an actual owner i am sorry to say your research is inaccurate, my experience is hands on!

My research is about the processors. As I said a friend of mine has it and he let me play with it for a day. I had ample time to compare it to the X1. I was really disppointed.

Yes most of the people still use them..... You better read my previous posts about the wireless headphones.
I have 300+ apps on my X1 and many of them require a D-pad.
I am curious about the Vogue's GPS chip. Why was it necessary to be disabled?
The part about using saved money from the processor to update the interface is pure conjecture on your part .
Again, the size of the SD doesn't matter if you have many apps that by DEFAULT install on the main memory.
Excess??? Excsue me, but less RAM means less multitasking and although the TP was good at this, it wasn't VERY good. The TP2 is worse and it is supposed to be an upgrade....
I can't argue about the battery, because I don't have that much hands on time with the device. I trust my friend and the online reviews though. Unless both my friend's battery and the ones of the reviewers were faulty in the first palce

maybe you expected too much! this phone blows x1 out the water literally. i could write a list of all the shortcomings of the x1 but i know they will be addressed by the upcoming x2. prior to getting this fone i bigged up my x1 as well so i can't get down on you for that! however ya cannot beat hands on experience(not just a day) and no one who has both devices like me will agree with you!

Hello Xda fellows
Does anyone else have a strange feeling that our beloved blackstone is slowly but for sure falling into oblivion?
sigh
yes, of course it is. it is three genrations old now (touch pro 2 and diamond 2 are next generation and htc leo is the newest).
However, this doesnt mean its going to be forgotten. the android project is really gaining ground. the "improving gfx performance" guys have just released a killer graphics pack and all of the apps made in future for the td2 and tpro 2 (maybe even leo) will work fine.
so, to answer your question, it is getting a bit old (a year old now) but that doesnt mean its going to disappear. look at the polaris and kaiser
good to hear opinion like that thanks man
the good thing about our phones is that it is still "current" in that the _relatively_ "newly released" TD2 and TP2 have very similar specs to our phone...it's just not at the very top anymore
Falling into obvlivion might be correct, but that doesn't mean the device is bad. If you like a device, you like it nomatter how many new devices are out.
I Dont think its falling into oblivion, look at the specs...
More ram than most, better screen than most, wvga is becoming more and more recognised, you dont get a 3.5mm headphone socket on most other devices, 5mp camera, most others are 3 or below, and really as long as xda developers lives on all devices do too
As far as I can see, it's still the top of the tree until the Leo is released.

HTC are not making a phone called Leo.
Yes. I am a pedant
A month ago I sold my HTC Diamond for a Touch HD...
I had the option to go for a Touch Pro, Diamond 2 etc...
but after trying a few the screen on the Touch HD is far superior to any others tried even the Iphone doesn't look as perfect as the HD.
It runs as fast as both the Touch Pro and Diamond 2.
The only difference in my opinion is the TV out on the Touch Pro.
Its inevitable that as time goes on the HD will eventually become obsolute or redundant as you'll move to pastures green. However with the HD, I feel this is still a bit in the future. There is nothing out there to really make me consider getting my wallet out and purchasing it. As time goes on this will obviously change, but not just yet!!

Now I would have absolutely agreed with you until this last week or so. The HD2 just looks too good to miss.
It'll certainly quieten the missus and her damned iPhone a bit.
Meh, I still got me HTC Universal running, the bigger the HTC the longer they last!
Blackstone is NOT going to fade out so soon.
Crap, I just switched from Polaris to Blackstone... )
And there has to be something much much better than HD2 to make me cry why have I bought HD...
I guess you are right!
about HD2, is just got one ~10 Days ago and i have to tell you, its not that different from the HD.
its just a little bit better in every way, but always just a little
(little faster, manila little smoother, gps little faster, screen a little bigger....)
but so far everything form the hd2 works just fine on hd (exept a free 3D game, forgot the name)
The only phone i would upgrade to is the HD2..
I love this phone! It may be buggy, badly designed vanilla rom and feel like plastic in your hands after a while, but you can do anything with it! It's powerful, got a _sweet_ display and it's the best phone I've tried surfing the web with.. With Opera Mobile 10 that is.
There's no phone out there worth upgrading to yet, this phone has still got atleast 6-12 months left in my hands..
INMHO I do not think that this phone, the HTC HD, will obsoleted soon. The most I read in others forums the most I think that still the HTC HD is on the TOP. The capacitive screen seems better than the one of LEO or HTC HD2, at least for use most application or write an sms. In addition, I have seen this evening in the developers and hacking forum that a multi-touch driver has been released for our HTC HD, so we can have the best of both worlds. Even, the Android runs quite smooth in the HTC HD so you can switch between windows and Android in less than 2 minutes. I am not thinking in change my phone in this moment, I quite satisfied, but If I had not one, I will take the advantage of the new release of the LEO to get a very cheap HTC HD in the second hand market.
If HTC had sorted out the Qualcomm driver situation I'd be all over the HD2, but I'm thinking I'll skip this generation, just not enough of an upgrade for me at the moment...
HD is a great phone

Well, I have mine for about 3 months now.. ans I could have got many other phones.. but I agree with the superlatives you mentioned. skinny too, where most phones are a quarter brick in the pants.. I had to help a colleague with his Kaiser on a WM6.1 and use a stylus , only to realize and appriciate the touch HD.. Is it, eventually, become obsolete? yes, but at least not until 2011.. if I won't break it by then (flashing, or screen cracking it) I will keep it for a longer time. It simply suits my need. I am sure there will be other phoned, but until there is touch HD2 around, working in 3G US, I will keep it, flash it, test it and hope there will be enough chefs on this thread
Thank you folks for the sleepless nights you give me.. my wife is sure I have an affair, or I am into cyber sex.. until it does not stop- I will stay with the HD..

Hi BigE! Long time no speak!
Good to find you in here!! I need your help...
AS you probably remember, I am a Trinity user. With MSkip's ProPlus Ultimate 3.5 QVGA 110209 installed, I am basically at peace. It's perfect for my needs.
BUT...
Recently, I've been tempted to buy a Touch HD, disable the TouchFlo and install MSkip's ProPlus Ultimate 3.5. Is it worth it?
The bigger screen, the more powerful processor, etc, etc... Will I really notice the difference if I just use Spb MS3.5?
I know you're not a massive fan of Spb MS3.5... I use it purely as I need an appointment list on my Today Page. That's why I don't use Manila. That's why as far as I can see I would not be happy with the TouchFlo 3D on the Touch HD. Such a shame it's missing!
I look forward to your advice. Maybe you'll convince me to leave Trinity!?
Mattster.
