Wireless Modem HTC-8525 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I have HTC-8525...
I want to use it as a modem on my computer...
I am not able to find WMODEM (Wireless Modem) option in programs...
How can I install it?
can somebody give me link?

not quite a modem but i think this is what u r looking for

If you have a data plan with your carrier that is unlimited, try using internet sharing. Thats what i use when I am not home or have a wireless signal with my laptop.

Most of the Roms found here include Internet Connection Sharing. You can use it with either USB, Bluetooth, or the WMrouter which turns your 8525 into a wifi access point.

Connecting Laptop to internet by Dialup connect. on pocketpc

Thank you for reading this, I really need your help.
Two options: which one below is true or possible?
1- It is possilbe to Connect my Laptop to internet via Dialup connect. on pocketpc phone? and connect my Laptop to pockect pc phone via Bluetooth.
Or should I use the dialup connection on my laptop to connect to internet using Wireless modem on my pocket pc phone?
does this make sense?
I have Siemens SX66.
You must be a mind reader because I was going to ask the same question.
Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated
I've successfully connected my XDAIIs to laptop for internet access.
On USB craddle, you can
1. Laptop connected to internet ( dial up / lan / whatever ) --> XDAIIs sits on craddle and connect to Active sync ---> XDAIIs can access internet
2. Use XDAIIs as the dial up modem via GPRS and your Laptop is able to access internet. This option u will need "HTC HUB" modem driver.
IrDA, you can
1. Use XDAIIs as the "Virtual" dial up modem via GPRS and your Laptop is able to access internet. This option u will need IrCOMM2k for emulating IrDA port on your laptop to see XDAIIs as its modem on its com port.
Bluetooth
This one i never try. I don't have bluetooth on my laptop :-(
As Forum Elders and experts have been saying...PLS TAKE SOMETIME AND EFFORTS TO SEARCH ON THIS FORUM and u will need the desired.
FYI, one can use 2s/2i/mini/Jam/XDA II ...etc as a wireless Modem via USB/Serial/Bluetooth/Irda.
Pls also take efoorts to read the manual which is provided with...

Thank you my friend, but if you get my previous reply, I want to conneted to the internet using my mobile number by dialing up an ISP account and not GPRS as I HATE GPRS, it is unreasonably expensive.
Can you help on this. I have searched and searched and searched...
Hi there,
Follow the steps below.Kindly note that to access your ISP, your SIM card should have Data Services enabled from your service provider. Also, the dial up number should be PSTN Number....viz nos start from 1 cannot be dialed from a GSM Network.Check thiis with your Network service provider.
1.FIrst of all pair your device with your laptop BT, so that your laptop checks the services which your PDA offers viz Serialport,DUN., Activesync etc...
2.Now, go to Network connections on your Laptop and opt for make a new connection.Just take care that you should opt for Bluetooth Modem while selecting the Modem.Rest all is same as you had done for your ISP.
3.Now, just dial the connection...your phone shd be able to maka a data call.
Pls let me know if you were able to do so...Best Luck

How about direct dial up to ISP/PSTN from pda phone?
Can we do that?
Imagine, go anywhere only with pda phone.
Yes one can do that For doing so one has to select the "Cellular Line" while making a new connection on phone and input the dial up number provided by service provider..I suggest consult your service provider for doijg this

You can only get up to 9.6kbps dialing up to an ISP account (CSD service, typically USD$9.99/mo). With GPRS you can get at least 28.8kbps... That's why GPRS is more expensive (typically USD$19.99/mo)...
Now unless you plan to just browse gopher sites (gopher://quux.org/)... I don't think CSD is worth the trouble...

GPRS is fine, but expensive in the UK. It is £2.35 per MB with an 02 monthly contract. Unless you get an 02 Pay As You Go SIM and 'bolt on' 02 Active5. It's £4 for 5mb.
If you use simple old fashioned dialup PSTN/ISDN you can use (for example) a free 0845 dialup (UK2.net) and use your bundled minutes instead.
OK it's slower, but I just want email headers and have over 800 minutes rolled over this month!!

Wireless Modem program needed

Hi all, I have been trying out various WM6 crossbow ROMs recently but I need the Wireless Modem program .cab file if anybody can kindly upload it.
Wireless Modem is present in PDAVIET's ROMs but I have problem with it using AvantGo 6.2. Midget's WM6 ROM works alright with AvantGo but since it is a vanila build it doesn't have Wireless Modem.
I was told the new Internet Sharing does similar thing to Wireless Modem but I am more familiar with Wireless Modem. Can anyone out there help please? Thanks!
Have you even tried Internet Sharing?
It's really not hard to work out.

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know any link on this forum explaining more about Intnernet Sharing? You know with Wireless Modem you put in *99# with a correct APN to initialize a internet connection. How do you do that with Intnernet Sharing?
When I was trying it the "Network Coonection" dropdown list is empty so I suppose I need to make a connection first. Is it the same number *99# to dial do you know?
It's been about a month since I tried it, I seem to recall it didn't matter what I entered on my laptop as it uses the specific connection you have set-up on your device.
Thanks guys!! I have just worked out how to use Internet Sharing through the "help" on the Universal.
For those who may also want to know how it is actually similiar to wireless modem. First create a internet connection and choose GPRS/3G type. Then it gets to the APN which is the same you can use with wireless modem, in my case it is orangeinternet. Job done!!
This connection will now show up on the list of the Internet Sharing connection. If you use USB and the Universal is connected, you will need to disconnect USB cable first, click connect on the Universal and plug the USB cable back. Same as when you have finished the Internet Sharing, otherwise the PC/Laptop won't recognize the Universal.
Who would have thought reading the help file would help

Im not sure if it could be done. A few people over at hofo have tried to tether via wi-fi but got nowhere. Maybe someone here has some ideas.

Try Internet sharing. It is in the startmenu.
It doesn't work with wi-fi for some reason.

one you plug the phone via usb into the computer and use it as a modem, and the other (i assume you mean wifi router or similar apps) is wireless..either way the pc uses the phone as a gateway and uses whatever connection (edge/wifi etc) the phone is connected to.

No, in my rom I have the Internet Sharing app, and then I have Modem Link app, both have usb setting and look almost identical.. The Modem Link app may just be a samsung version of Internet Sharing. Oh well, just thought I would ask.

Touch Pro2 as dialup usb modem

Hi guys,
i need to use my tp2 as dialup usb modem trought my pc. I rember that i can do it with a old htc tytn II ...
Now the qestion is: can i do the same with a tp2 ? I need install a driver ? Which ?
I need use the tp2 for connect to a remote modem NOT for share a internet connection.
Thanks in advance.
create a new connection use cellular line enter the number and user and pass and whatever else then go to internet sharing but use that connection. and it will actually dial to use as dial up...
but i dont really see the point because even tho its dialing a number isnt it still using data FROM the carrier because it has to transfer?
Hi,
thanks for your reply.
I need to connect my htc tp2 to my notebook using a usb cable for start a dialup connection trought windows.
In really i have install on my notebook a RemoteAccess Software that use a dial up modem (and for this i would use my htc) for a number and connect t remote appliance
So i thinks that if i create a new connection cellular line on my tp2 is a not good solution.
About 4 years ago i rember that can do it with my htc tytn using a usb driver form htc cd-rom and install it on my windows system.
Now anybody have you any idea for do it with my tp2 ?
thanks in advance.
Hi ,
anybody have a idea ?
thanks
The previous answer is the way you need to go.
Your speaking in circles, if your PC is dialing a number you need to replace that with your phones connection.
In other words, whatever software on your pc that needs to connect to the internet should use one of the connections you setup, one being "Cellular".
Updated....
I think after a few reads I get you.
Your PC is dialing an access number directly into a remote server?
So you need the phone to just be a telephone line for the PCs modem to dial over?
And you would like to know how to do this through USB?
Is this correct?
I don't know how to do that but my clarification of your question may help get you an answer.
Question can't the server be access by IP address?
Then you could use the phones internet connection.
Good Luck.

NO i need to call a remote server with a direct connection (no internet, no ip)
Anybody have a idea ?
Thanks in advance-
I used to do this (dial-up) and since I switched to Verizon PC card I no longer remember how I did it... I think I installed a usb modem driver for my phone, but it wasn't a Touch Pro2...
