THANK GOD! I found a way back to bring it back. The info was buried in hundreds pages in threads so I'll bring to the front on how I revived my Axim x50v.
1st: Make sure the battery is charged all the way. When it is on the cradle the Power button should be green not red.
2nd: Make sure you have your SD card reformatted to Fat 32.
3rd: Make sure you have this update your PDA to A01 Windows Mobile 5 ROM. http://rapidshare.com/files/53847340/AximX50v_WM5_A01_EN.rar CREDIT TO MAGLITE.
4rd: When you unrar the file. The four following files should read like this:
WM50_B_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG.nb0
WM50_B_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG_nb0.crc
WM50_K_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG.nb0
WM50_K_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG_nb0.crc
You need to rename them as the following:
DiMa_B_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG.nb0
DiMa_B_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG_nb0.crc
WM50_K_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG.nb0
WM50_K_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG_nb0.crc
5th: After the files are renamed, put the sd card back into the Axim x50v
6th: Hold the RECORD + POWER Buttons down and then tap the reset button. After the taping of the reset button do not let go of the RECORD + POWER buttons.
7th: When the diagnostic screen pops up, hold the WIRELESS + POWER buttons and tap the RESET button. AGAIN< DO NOT LET GO OF THE WIRELESS & RESET BUTTON. The screen will show up again to reflash the rom with the file on the sd card. Press the action button twice and you are on your way to WM5 AO1.
IMPORTANT SO AS NOT TO REBRICK THE AXIM X50v AGAIN!!!
Ignore the hard reset message and press wireless-power-reset once the Axim loaded the new rom.
Thanks

Hi,
I tried to use your suggestion to reflash my X50v, but it still failed. I can success go into the diagnostic screen. However when I tried to hard reset(Wireless+Power+reset button) my X50v to load the Image loader, the X50v will hang up and blank screen. I tried to do many times but still failed. Do you have any suggestion or experience to solve it?
My X50v previous version 2003SE A05

Hi,
When performing downgrade from 2005 -> 2003se, I followed onscreen messages, but Axim is black/dead/ dunno what to do to "make him alive again" !?!?!
I searched a bit forums and found out that:
In a few seconds, you'll be prompted to do a hard reset by pressing the power and reset buttons simultaneously. Ignore this message. What you want to do is hit the power, wireless, and reset buttons again.
BUT I did power/reset...
Is it possible to fix it not sending it so service?
I still have warranty by Dell, but I am not sure if they will cover that...
I used the following images for downgrade:
WM2003SE_A05_EN_X50v
with this filenames:
WM50_B_A05_X50v_WM2k3SE_EN.nb0
WM50_B_A05_X50v_WM2k3SE_EN_nb0.crc
WM50_K_A05_X50v_WM2k3SE_EN.nb0
WM50_K_A05_X50v_WM2k3SE_EN_nb0.crc
Current version running on Dell was AximX50v_WM5_A01_EN.
Thanks for any help and suggestions...
Regards
fixed it
It's working now...
After taking battery out, inserting it back... putting boot/image on sd card...
This is crucial: combination and timing
1. wifi+power button (pressed - hold them) + reset (quick press/release), in meantime hold wifi+power buttons and release them when loader menu shows!, (WM50_B_A05_X50v_WM2k3SE_EN.nb0)
2. !!!VERY IMPORTANT STEP!!!
A) device tells you to hard reset device (power + reset), DON'T do that!!!
what you need to do here is wifi+power, then quickly press reset button (less than a second) in the meantime button you need to hold buttons (wifi+power) until boot menu appears
3. choose this WM50_K_A05_X50v_WM2k3SE_EN.nb0, confirm it 2 times and wait for round 15min!
4. the result is: alive DELL with 2003se os, test this, 100% success guaranteed!!!
SUN with BIG SMILE appeared to me after DARK clouds
Cheers!

A big clap for your clear and useful advice ; I was lost and you saved me.
Thank you very much .

This is my first post on the forum. I've searched high and low using all different combinations of key words, but I can't find step-by-step instructions to install Football's A03 ROM for the Dell Axim x51v. I tried the instructions for the x50v ROM, but all that ended up doing was hard-resetting my PDA. Can anyone please provide me with the instructions or link me to them? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
Found my answer: (the guide on this forum was missing one important instruction, namely #4 below)
Source: http://www.lennysh.com/forums/faq.php?faq=dell_axim#faq_aximx51v_sd_flash
Dell Axim X51v SD Loader / Flash Method
1. Hold down the Power -> Wireless Buttons.
2. Push in the Soft Reset Button.
3. Release the Soft Reset Button.
4. Continue holding the other two buttons until you see something appear on the screen.
5. Release the two buttons.
6. Wait a few more seconds, until you see some more words appear on the screen representing the ROM you are wanting to flash.
7. After that appears, click the center button of the d-pad twice to start the flash procedure.
8. When it's done, It'll tell you to perform a hard reset (Press and hold the Power -> Soft Reset buttons).

I am now a happy (WM6-using) camper
I was trying to flash my x50v wm03 se to wm05. I have used the DiMa_B_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG.nb0
DiMa_K_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG.nb0
files downloaded from the link here. After turning into bootloader mode it asked me to confirm the file which i did. It falshed everything normally and asked for a hard reset which i did. Since then nothing works, no hard reset no nothing. Only the charging led is orange when charging and green when full.
Anyone got an idea how to fix this?
Thanks
Anyone???????
x50v does not powerup - fixed!
I ran into a similar problem. I made the mistake of doing a hard reset when prompted on the display rather than the Wireless + Power + Reset.
It 'bricked' my x50v. No lights no nothing unless it was plugged into the cradle and then the orange power light was lit.
To recover I did the following(first install the sd card with files as described below): Plug the Axim into AC Power. Press the Record + Power + Reset then the Wireless + Power + Reset. Make sure you hold the keys down for 2 sec before a short tap on the Reset.
When I did this I had the original windows 2003se files DiMa...(bootloader and image) and the WM50...(bootloader and image) files on the sd rom. Since the WM5 bootloader was active it found the WM50_B... and WM50_K... files. I selected the WM50_K... image file and after several minutes of installation the display instructed me to do a hard reset (power + reset). After the hard reset I pressed the power key and after about 30 seconds the Dell Logo was displayed with a progress bar across the bottom. The progress bar completed after about 30 seconds and now I'm the happy (relieved) owner of a flashed Windows Mobile 5 x50v.
Here are the list of files that were located on the SD-Card:
DiMa_B_A05_X50v_WM2k3SE_EN.nb0
DiMa_B_A05_X50v_WM2k3SE_EN_nb0.crc
DiMa_K_A05_X50v_WM2k3SE_EN.nb0
DiMa_K_A05_X50v_WM2k3SE_EN.nb0.crc
WM50_B_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG.nb0
WM50_B_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG.nb0.crc
WM50_K_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG.nb0
WM50_K_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG.nb0.crc
I found this fix originally documented here:
http://www.mobilitysite.com/boards/x50-hardware-troubles/226854-bricked-x50v.html
A couple of other tidbits:
1) The upgrade process requires you to tap the action key twice. The action key is the center of the navigation button.
2) Read the instructions completely before attempting any of the upgrades (note to self-read the instructions completely before attempting an upgrade).
Thank you. This worked for me!
I was attempting to update my Axim x50v from WM2k3SE A05 (ROM_A05_R106214.EXE) to WM50 A01 (Dell_Axim_x50v_A01_ROM) via the USB connection. The connection somehow was lost. It would not boot up, but only show the Amber light when charging. It looked like it was completely lost aka Bricked. Then I found this link.
It seemed like this process was not working for me because it did not respond to the Record + Power + Reset (Dell Troubleshooting). I then let the device sit without battery overnight and then attempted again with Battery in. This failed.
What did work was taking the Battery out, putting the device on AC power, and then pressing Record + Power + Reset. Once it was in Memory test mode, then I pressed Wireless + Power + Reset (boot from SD Card). This then brought up the Boot Menu. Since the WM5 bootloader was active it found the WM50 files. If the WM2KE bootloader was active I would have seen the DiMa file. I was then able to install WM50 A01. I am now up to A02.
It took several attempts to get into booting from SD Card. I had to take the Axim off AC power everytime it failed. I did not see what stage of the memory test it was in when it finally accepted the boot from SD Card. (Sorry, wish I could be more help there). Just keep trying.
Thank you everybody for Saving my Axim x50v!

on myother windows xp machine there is a application error if i want to start the dutty tool
can anybody help me?
thanks in advance and have a great week
rob
You should install this using the internal method.
Just grab the .nbh file and rename it DIAMIMG.nbh
Put this in your Internal 4GB storage.
Soft reset your device and immediately press the Vol. Down and back button and a grey screen will appear. Vol up to install. After, don't forget to hard reset your phone.
hey you
thanks for your quick answer
but it isn't working if i soft reset the device and press vol down and back (the arrow which is pinting to left) it doesn't open a menu!
do i need a special hard spl? or do i something wrong on the reset?
i just don't get te screen, it's just starting normally
really strange!
thanks in advance

No, a special hard spl is not required. Any one will do. You are probably not doing the procedure quick enough. Try again.
When you soft reset get your hands immediately ready to press both (Vol. Down + Back Arrow Button). HOLD this until you see the grey menu and follow the instructions.
And make sure the DIAMIMG.nbh file is in your Internal Storage (4GB)
On my phone, the vol-down + back-button doesn't work either. It just resets the phone as normal. A vol-down + enter-button does move it to the hard-reset screen though, then an up-arrow finishes the hard reset, but not loading the DIAMIMG.nbh file. Maybe they removed the vol-down + back-button? Or changed it somehow?
Make sure that your internal storage is FAT32, It wont work if it is anything else
When you get to the grey screen, it tells you to Press the power button to update

Doesn't work, and the text is not there either.
I also think it's important to change the name .nbh before you transfer it to your phone, at least it was for me!
Well, I figured out one mystery. For my model version, it's not vol-down + back-arrow to get into the SPL screen on power up. It's vol-down only while powering on the device. Go figure!
Still stuck with no ability to install Hard SPL though

ALL MODELS SHOULD BE THE SAME>>
Basic Info.
(Soft Reset and press Vol. Down) = Get To Bootloader
(Soft Reset and Press Vol. Down + back-arrow) = To Install Radio or ROM form Internal Storage (must have DIAMIMG.nbh in first before flashing)
To confirm that there is no confusion. The "Back arrow" button is the one above the hang up button. NOT left of the middle circle button
So press volume down, Back arrow and then with your third hand, press the reset button with the stylus. Continue to hold the Vol Down and Back Arrow until the image install screen appears. (about 2 seconds)
Sorry guys, no the back-arrow button plus Vol-down does not work. Vol-down alone does. The new phones are different, I'm almost 100% positive they are. The stock SPL was version 1.95 which I've not yet seen here. And, I can't seem to dump any of the ROM (and now can't dump the SPL, BUMMER!, but that's another issue...)
But vol-down + enter + reset does give the clear memory option, with a slightly different wording on the reset screen that what I've read here that it should be.

Well so far your device seems to be the first out of the gate that reacts this way.
Sorry to hear!
dude plz help me where can i get dutty v4 rom for diamond......
Here is a guide on upgrading an Axim X51v to WM 6.1, or WM 6.5.
This was originally posted on Mobilism.
NEEDED: Axim X51v (duh), PC (I don't have a mac and I am clueless about them) spare SD card (Min. 128 MB), SD card reader, charger (connected to cradle or via port, doesn't matter), and PATIENCE.
DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible if you brick your Axim. Use caution.
1. Get a ROM. Links are attached to this post (because the forum will not let me put links in my post >.<)
2. Extract the ROM to the Desktop. You will need to install WinRar, which I've posted a link to. Drag the 2 files in the box that show up after clicking on the RAR file.
3. Now, put the SD card into the reader and plug it in.
4. Go to My Computer, (Computer in Vista and 7), find Removable Disk (or whatever you named it) right click it and click Format.
5. When you get a box that is labeled: "Format Removable Disk" (or whatever you named it), under "File system", select "FAT32".
6. Click 'Start" (on the box), then click "OK" again.
7. Wait.
8. When you get the box that says "Format Complete", Click "OK".
9. Go to My Computer, (Computer in Vista and 7), find Removable Disk (or whatever you named it) and open it.
10. Find the .nb0 and nb0_.crc files on your Desktop (that you extracted earlier) and drag them to the SD card.
11. Eject the drive. (Right click on the drive in Computer and click Eject)
12. Place the SD card into the Axim and do a Hard Reset. (Hard Reset by holding the Power button. While holding down the Power button, use the stylus to push the reset hole and then release BOTH. Then, press the Contacts button.)
13. Go into the SD Bootloader by holding down the Power button and the Wireless button. While doing that, use the stylus to push the reset hole. After pushing the reset hole, keep the Power and Wireless buttons pressed.
14. You should get a blue bar at the top of your screen that says "SD Image Update A10_G*" (* for any number.) If you do, go on to the next step, if not, go back to step 13.
15. When the black bar with white letters show up, press the button in the center of the D-Pad twice.
16. Wait.
17. When it says "Update Complete, please do hard reset", do a hard reset. (Hard Reset by holding the Power button. While holding down the Power button, use the stylus to push the reset hole and then release BOTH. Then, press the Contacts button.)
18. Enjoy WM 6.1 goodness!!!
Oh yes, and if for some reason you don't like WM 6.1, I've made an A12 ROM (Original Dell).
This looks very similar to my X50 unbricking guides sticky over at Aximsite. I would like to inform you that this is not new information.
Anyway, you forgot to mention the part about checking the crc address in the nb0 file before you transfer the files to the SD card. For that, you just download the crc calculator and run it with the nb0, and then check to see if what the crc calculator spits out is the same as what's in the crc file. If not, than copy the value from the crc calculator to the crc file and save the crc file.
I would also like to mention that this process can be done on MAC OS X, but you have to mess with a partitioner to do it.
