This is probably more of a WM5 problem, but I thought I would ask
Pre WM5 in contacts just under the title bar there was a drop-down box for the category filter and an edit box to the right for "find a name". In WM5 there is only an edit window "Enter a name or number...."
Is there anyway to get the categories drop-down back? I made heavy use of this feature before.

In WM6 where it used to say "new" on the left softkey in messaging it says "delete" now. Is there any way to change it back to "new" the "delete" isn't anywhere near as useful. Thanks guys
With WM5, the softkeys were
Left softkey: New (text message)
Right softkey: Menu
after upgrading my Cingular 8525 to WM6 it is not that useful:
Left softkey: Delete
Right softkey: Menu
In effect, to create a new message I need to select Menu and then New.
Is it possible to assign New to the left softkey?

Nope, not if your talking about in the messages screen. You can, however, set a soft key on the today screen to New SMS.
this has been a problem since the leak of WM6, search around, can't remember if theres a solution or not because it doesn't bother me that much, most of the time i'm replying to texts.
Take a look here, and here.

Thanks for a quick answer. I have no idea why Microsoft decided that the typical action when going to Text Messages would be to delete a message and not write a new message. You may store hundreds of messages without noticing a dent in the available memory.
How to create a shortcut from the Today screen to New SMS or reassining one of the softkeys to this function?

Use softkey changer (attached). If it gives you the error "missing file tnsms" then drop the attached corresponding file in ur /windows folder.
Kiitos Karhu and thanks mcorrie1121. I will test your solutions.
The SoftKey.cab from the link in Karhu's post is the only thing needed. One item on the list of commands to assign to a softkey on the Today screen is "New SMS". Works perfectly.
If you do not mind one more tap you can also use WM5 New Menu - provides more options than just new SMS.
i was wondering if there is a list of urls/launchers that i could use to make my own pages / panels in CHome. I dont mean launchers for programs I put on my phone, those are easy enough. I mean launchers / urls for stuff that are a part of the OS. Links like msprofiles; mssettings; etc. To be specific i want to make pages for text msg, emails, missed calls, call history. pretty much almost the same stuff that are in CHome & CMessage panels. Obviously those panels are nor editable, so i can not go into them and look at the links like i can with CSettings.
For starters, i want to make pages for Text Messaging, specific email accounts. i am able to make page for 'messaging' in general which leads to those but i want to pages for each, just like in CMessage & Chome. Also want missed calls, voicemail. Anyhelp would be appreciated.
bump. can someone help?

maybe some with access to the rom can figure that one out
The Energy ROM has the option to add a "send / receive email" button to the quicklinks. That makes for an easy one-touch way of checking for new emails. Unfortunately, I had lots of problems with that ROM and I had to go back to Dutty's ROM.
Is there a way for me to install a single cab that will give me the option to add the "send / receive email" button as a quicklink?
*push* I am looking for that button as well...
