This is probably more of a WM5 problem, but I thought I would ask
Pre WM5 in contacts just under the title bar there was a drop-down box for the category filter and an edit box to the right for "find a name". In WM5 there is only an edit window "Enter a name or number...."
Is there anyway to get the categories drop-down back? I made heavy use of this feature before.

Anyone know can I change it so that it sorts by Firstname instead of Lastname in the Phone Contacts?
Its super annoying.
This question should be sticky, the number of times it gets asked!

I found a small freeware application that will help you. in my pda2k I should to select all the contacts tap and you'll see in the expanded menu the option FileAsf this will change from last, first to first, last
And I just looked at the WM5 Emulator..............they haven't given us the option to display First Last.
In WM6 where it used to say "new" on the left softkey in messaging it says "delete" now. Is there any way to change it back to "new" the "delete" isn't anywhere near as useful. Thanks guys
With WM5, the softkeys were
Left softkey: New (text message)
Right softkey: Menu
after upgrading my Cingular 8525 to WM6 it is not that useful:
Left softkey: Delete
Right softkey: Menu
In effect, to create a new message I need to select Menu and then New.
Is it possible to assign New to the left softkey?

Nope, not if your talking about in the messages screen. You can, however, set a soft key on the today screen to New SMS.
this has been a problem since the leak of WM6, search around, can't remember if theres a solution or not because it doesn't bother me that much, most of the time i'm replying to texts.
Take a look here, and here.

Thanks for a quick answer. I have no idea why Microsoft decided that the typical action when going to Text Messages would be to delete a message and not write a new message. You may store hundreds of messages without noticing a dent in the available memory.
How to create a shortcut from the Today screen to New SMS or reassining one of the softkeys to this function?

Use softkey changer (attached). If it gives you the error "missing file tnsms" then drop the attached corresponding file in ur /windows folder.
Kiitos Karhu and thanks mcorrie1121. I will test your solutions.
The SoftKey.cab from the link in Karhu's post is the only thing needed. One item on the list of commands to assign to a softkey on the Today screen is "New SMS". Works perfectly.
If you do not mind one more tap you can also use WM5 New Menu - provides more options than just new SMS.
i was wondering if there is a list of urls/launchers that i could use to make my own pages / panels in CHome. I dont mean launchers for programs I put on my phone, those are easy enough. I mean launchers / urls for stuff that are a part of the OS. Links like msprofiles; mssettings; etc. To be specific i want to make pages for text msg, emails, missed calls, call history. pretty much almost the same stuff that are in CHome & CMessage panels. Obviously those panels are nor editable, so i can not go into them and look at the links like i can with CSettings.
For starters, i want to make pages for Text Messaging, specific email accounts. i am able to make page for 'messaging' in general which leads to those but i want to pages for each, just like in CMessage & Chome. Also want missed calls, voicemail. Anyhelp would be appreciated.
bump. can someone help?

Hi, I know how to change the softkeys on the "Home" page but I'm really not too happy with the Pro2's way of listing "all people" as the default address book, I really preferred the old windows mobile look where you could organise contacts through "company" and all that, I know you can navigate to "programs > contacts" to get this old look but it's not that convenient...
After having a search on the forum I couldn't find any definite so I thought I'd make this post. What I’m trying to do is when I click the "all people" button, (highlighted in red on the link) I want it to be able to open the standard windows mobile contact list that I mentioned above rather than the new HTC TouchFLO3D one. I know you can go into the registry and alter the main Home TouchFLO3D page's softkeys but I can't seem to find out how to change the softkeys on the other TouchFLO3D tabs (like mail, contacts and photos)... Can anyone help, thanks!
