I have a Dopod 838Pro and I have used a played with a number of different ROMS and have stuck with Schap's WM6 and am currently running:
Schap's 4.31
Radio: 1.54.30.10
The problem. For some reason which I can't tie down, the MMS settings continue to return to the default vpix.com/servlets..... settings. Being that I don't send or receive alot of MMS it's not a huge problem, but it's got me buggered why it does this.
I sync between two PC's, one XP with Active Sync 4.5.0 (which then uses Groupwise PDA connect to sync with Groupwise) then at home I have Vista with it's Mobile Centre syncing up with Outlook 2007.
For no good reason every now and again the Vista Machine decides it doesn't know about about the PDA anymore and decides it's a new device. Being that this is random, by the time I notice the PDA has lost all contacts and calendar. I'm not sure if this is before or after I put it into the dock, but I can confirm that it is before I confirm anything on the PC.
I know that if you delete a "profile" thing on the PDA it will loose all information associated (including the calendar and contacts etc), but I'm not doing that.
Again the rare use of MMS means I can't pin down the MMS settings change to the PDA loosing sync. The other strange thing is that if I change the settings in the "Default" MMS server settings, when they revert back to the vpix settings, I am sort of screwed, but if I create an "Optus" profile then set that as default, when the vpix thing happens it simply re-selects the default profile, the upside being I can just re-select the Optus one and away I go.
So does anyone understand my ramblings or has anyone had a similar problem? Is it Vista? Is it the ROM? Is it a dodgy piece of hardware? Any ideas are welcome.

I have been fiddling with my Blue Angel, as one does. Anyway - I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this problem.
Firstly, my device (T-Mobile UK 1.42 ROM) stopped syncing the Calendar from Outlook 2003, which itself uses an exchange 'mailbox' for storage.
This is not ideal, as you may imagine, so I tried to re-install Outlook, and Activesync 3.8. To make sure, I also hard-reset the BA.
Again I was asked to 'place the device in the cradle' and ActiveSync shuffled around, turned green and minimised - WITHOUT asking me if it was a standard/guest partnership etc etc.
Basically, both PC and PPC AS connections showed connected, but nothing was syncing.
I have temporarily resolved this by installing AS 4.0, which again asked me how I wanted to sync, but ideally I would like to use AS 3.8 (since I'm using WM2003SE) and yet each time I install 3.8 or 3.7.1 it connects but refuses to sync.
***Correction - On closer inspection, whilst it Syncs everything else, Calendar is still not synced with AS4, and nor does it give the option.
Is this something seen before? Likely to be an Outlook, ActiveSync or PPC issue?
Regards,
Darren
...please!
Very please with my setup now, LOADS faster and more stable than before (I also learned to install ALL progs to my 4GB SD card!). 1.14.10 radio seems to behave, wakes up quicker I think, good call quality, not sure if better signal but no complains so far. Blank Ext rom and AKU 3.5 mean very 'fresh and lively' feel to the phone, not the horrible slow responding crashing thing of old.
Excuse if I have missed a previous thread but few issues remain:
I cannot, no matter how I try, get Vodafone live or Vodafone MMS to work. I fixed this before by flashing a vodafone EXT Rom but I want to keep this clean. I have all the cabs from a vodafone UK EXT, I'm guessing it's just one of them that is the MMS settings/customisation - can anyone help or offer a workaround? Getting GPRS up is easy but Vodafone is funny even with the settings MMS can't be had (researched this issue before, seems like an issue - they probably fix it by customising the phone in their EXT rom).
Second problem, I have one email account (in my outlook PC) that I also use on the move via IMAP. I want my ONE email account on my pda, when synced, to copy the emails and if needed retrieve them via imap when on the move. I have never found out how to do this, as I can't seem to be able to add IMAP to the existing 'outlook' account. Only option is to have the standard outlook account which gets filled when synced, then have a second additional account which takes 10 mins to fill up with 100 old mails via imap and get up to date when on the move. I just want one email account that will a) sync via pc from my outlook account and b) when on the move sync via IMAP to 'top up' what is already there.
Third problem - the battery icon is optimistic, eg it says full when the battery is under 75%. The old one (on the top) was accurate. Anyone tell me how to fix this?
I feel I have come a long way from a novice and now need a bit of help fine tuning the above!
Greg.
I helped my boss upgrade his 8525 to WM 6. I have the same phone with WM 6 ATT Version.
We have Outlook Exchange and are syncing over the air. Mine works perfectly, but on his it has stopped working multiple times. We sync...It shows Connecting/Sychronizing Folders/Looking for Changes/Email 1:1 (or :15, etc)/Processing, but there are no emails in his Inbox.
I've changed every setting I can find. When I change the email setting to 2 weeks from 1 it looks like it is downloading 1:85 emails etc, goes through exactly as my 8525 does, but his don't show up, it's completely empty.
He is syncing his email to Exchange and Syncing his contacts and calendar to PC.
The behavior is the exact same if he tries to sync using Edge, WiFi, or connected to his PC via USB.
I've deleted the account completely and re-set it up and same problem.
I did a hard reset and it worked initially, but 2 days later the same problem came back.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
ROM: 3.62.502.3
Radio 1.54.07.00
ATT 8525 WM 6 ATT ROM
I really have no idea what the problem is here. I used to be able to send emails fine when I had WM 6.0 installed. I upgraded to 6.1 which automatically found imap settings for Yahoo Mail. This was working fine to send emails until recently.
Now I cannot seem to send emails at all but I can recieve them fine over imap. My phone (T-Mobile Vario II) doesn't seem to want to allow me to set up Yahoo Mail using the POP protocol; it automatically defaults to IMAP and gives me no option. I'm using Pays WM 6.1 ROM (build 3.05) if that makes any difference to anyone.
It's getting very frustrating not being able to send emails when I've just read an urgent one I've received!
Current settings are:
Incoming: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com (with authentication)
(No SSL on either server)
I don't seem to be able to find the port numbers.
Any help much appreciated!
thats the same settings i have and mine works, double check that the proxy is not enabled if you are using media net.
I had the same issue with CRC's rom. I'm lazy, so here is what I did:
1. Delete the account you created (imap).
2. Create a new account, but on the email field write something like [email protected] ...etc. (i.e. mispell yahoo)
3. Now it will ask you to setup the account manually, i.e. Internet mail, POP3, etc.
I use:
incoming -> pop.mail.yahoo.com:110
outgoing -> smtp.mail.yahoo.com:25 (Required SSL)
Hope this helps.
Many thanks dgaud007,
I hadn't thought of that and so obvious as well. Will be trying that immediately!
im having this same issue since goin to 6.1 on a Dash. Tried the yaho.com suggestion elow but it still won't always send.
Any ideas?

Win Mobile has always auto configured my Yahoo! account to IMAP (which I am pretty happy about anyway)... That said, I'm using a yahoo.co.uk account.. Don't know whether it applies to yahoo.com accounts..
I have tried using the Auto Configure and tried configuring it manually. Still cannot send about half of the time. Very weird because it always worked fine until I went to the 6.1 ROM.

From what I read in one of the Kaiser threads from incognito there was a brief mention of a bug in the 6.1 builds were about 1/2 of the time the logon authorization fails. It has happened to me even on the new 19213 version. I don't know how to fix it at this point (if it's something that can be done after the ROM is cooked). I'm using PAP authentication for now, and so far, haven't seen the issue again.
I'm still having this same issue. Anyone else? Any ideas on how to make Yahoo! outgoing email work with Kavana's 6.1 ROM?

How can I get IMAP working again?
I have recently installed Windows Mobile 6.5 on Kaiser. I was able to access yahoo mail for some time but now I can not both send and receive mails. I have also tried the method incoming -> pop.mail.yahoo.com:110
outgoing -> smtp.mail.yahoo.com:25 (Required SSL) and it is also not working. I have recently installed G-Profile and 3G Dialer may be they have caused the problem.
I apologize in advance if this has already been answered but i have been looking for the solution for a couple of days now and have had zero success.
I have my t-mobile dash setup for pop3 email with my own domain. When I first setup the email account, the email is all downloaded fine. After that, it just stops working and hangs at "looking for changes". I can go into tools and modify the settings in there to download from 5k to 20k or make any changes in there it will download once, but then stop again.
One other fact about this is that it started once I updated my Dash from WM 5 to WM 6. I have since tried WM 6.1 and WM 6.5 and have the same problem on all.
Does anyone have any advice or solutions to this? I have seen a few people post the same question, but never any replies.
Are you using the TZones hack? If so, there is one more change needed to make your email work correctly. Look it up in the WIKI...it's the last thing on the list.
Sorry...not in the WIKI....just search for the TZones hack. It's in there.
No, I am not using the TZone hack. I have just upgraded my WM to 6.0, then 6.1, then 6.5 and have had the same problem on all of them.
It seems that using Exchange instead of POP works fine, but my email is not on an exchange server so I have to use POP.
I just put WM5 back on my dash and now my email works fine. Same setup and same account as before. The only difference is running WM5 instead of WM6, WM6.1 or WM6.5. I am not sure why that would make a difference, but I would LOVE to run a newer version of WM on my dash if anyone can shed some light on the pop email problem I am having.
I just read some other posts addressing a similar issue where a pop email setup on WM 6.1 kept "looking for changes" and wanted to check through all 6000 or so messages on the server. The recommendation was to set it up using IMAP. Does anyone know why the pop setup would be a problem but the IMAP would work?
Thanks
