Is there a way to keep the wifi connection active whilst the phone is in standby mode?

AFAIK, no, there isn't. I remember a thread much like this one where the decision was reached that battery life would suffer severely. If battery life isn't a concern for you, then you might consider using a screen/button lock program instead of putting the phone into standby.
Sorry to give you a workaround instead of solution.
there is an option in PocketToolman 2 under OS tweaks that you can check to keep WiFi active in sleep. I haven't tried it, but the program is great for everything else i've tried.

I was looking for this for a while!!It works on my MDA Vario G4!!
I stumbled across this program and it seems like every time I look at what it can do, it amazes me! I'm surprised I hadn't found it earlier.
Definately a must have for me.... Plus it hardly uses any resources and does so much....not to mention it's free!

I use "Wifi Auto Toggle" now to turn wifi on/off when I forget about it, but I have a problem where my wireless will randomly get stuck "authenticating" with my school's WPA network so it will appear to be connected without any problems, but you won't be able to access the internet with it. This means that Wifi Auto Toggle won't think to disconnect it, so it will sit there until I pick up my phone and realize that I need to reconnect. Any suggestions are welcome!
You can use tasker to turn the wifi on and off depending on time, location, whether the phone is plugged in, etc. It's confusing at first but it works wonders!!

I'd prefer an app that isn't $6... Also, it just needs to toggle the wifi on a set schedule (say, every 15 minutes). That way I could easily turn it on or off depending on where I am.
Saw an app call Modus Operandi in the main app forum that might do what you want (kind of a free Tasker alternative). I use Tasker though so I don't know how well this app works...

Or you can use Llama : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888181
I user Timeriffic. It's free and works great.

It's easy to use too.

Juice defender....ive used the free one before but ultimate looks to have more features...if your after just a scheduler MO is fine but this might also help actively conserve that vital bit of power at the same time....just a thought?

Is there any way to make the battery last longer without rooting the phone? And also is there any way to turn on the mobile hotspot without dropping $30 a month for the extra service from sprint?

Many, many, many ways. Number one, obviously don't use the phone as much. Use wifi when possible. Turn off wifi and/or 3g when not needed. Turn down display brightness. Turn down display time-out. Don't use the camera. Don't use the gps. Don't use Navigation. Turn off or turn down accounts you don't need syncing often.

You would need to root. And don't even think about asking how to do it.

Well geez, you could've put that a LITTLE nicer To answer ur ? Superman rooting is a wonderful thing if you have the sense to think about what you do before you do it. Rooting isn't difficult but I'm not even sure if they've figured out root for the recent OTA update sprint pushed out or not. I've been rooted since day 3 of ownership and never looked back. A simple 3 minute scan of the forums will essentially give you that answer, right now I'm busy messing with Synergy, sorry. There's plenty of things you can do to conserve battery but rooting on top of what my man above said is clutch bro, you'll be a happy lad
Well thanks guys. I appreciate the help. And yes I am a noob but I'm aware that I can't root yet so I wasn't asking. But since I can't root I need to do other tricks to save on battery life. That's why I was asking. But anyways, thanks again for your help.

Tasker is a fantastic app that lets you automate just about anything. It costs a small amount but is well worth it.

Hey guys,
Trying on this more active forum...
I just bought the S21+, overall great phone except couple of issue with Android Auto and Whatsapp.
I was able to fix the Android Auto issue (wouldn't connect, had to remove the latest Google Chrome updates) but the whatsapp issue is above my paygrade.
I scanned the QR code and everything works but as soon as the phone screen goes black, whatsapp is slow and disconnects often. Not completely disconnected as after I send a message perhaps 10/15 seconds later it gets set but still not responsive as before (S8+)
Any idea?
you can try other software to watch network connection status, if no problem, maybe that's compitability issue on s21+

Thank you, do you have any recomandation?
Not sure if you managed to fix this but in case you haven't.
You need to make WhatsApp a non-optimized app in the battery settings. That way WA will consume as much battery as needed to stay alive and to connect to WA Web.

How about disabling Wi-fi power saving mode?
Phone is not connected to wifi, would that matter?

No, it shouldn't matter. I was just trying to provide an option.
I really don't have any problem when its on mobile data but I do have problems with Wifi from time to time cause WhatsApp Web is poorly implemented with the app.
Sorry I couldnt provide any help.

Thanks for trying.
I purchased this phone recently and updated it to 13 yesterday.
So to optimize for max SOT and standby, I've done battery restrictions for most apps. And the result was pretty good.
But I realized that every time I restart my phone, apps re-enabling themselves to optimized mod.
Since you have to put them in restricted mod ONE BY ONE, it is so frustrating to do that after every phone restart.
Does anybody have any solution?
I would be very grateful if someone could help me with this problem.
Sorry didn't mean to post twice.. on mobile and connection not that good atm

At least anyone can tell me if this problem is just for me, or it's an android 13 issue.

XPrivacyLua
Really simple to use privacy manager
lua.xprivacy.eu
It allows you to block all apps from tracking and analytics.
It's a very nice app.. you can download it for free... But the paid option is worth it.
It'd be easier for ya to visit the site and try the app than me try to explain it haha
Also, disable 5G (limit to 4G/LTE only) and disable usage access for Digital Wellbeing and Device Health Services

It's happened to some others as well. Seems to be an off and on bug. It only happened to me once (believe I was on A12 at the time), but hasn't happened since and hasn't happened on A13 for me so I don't think it's related to A13 specifically. Wish I could offer a solution but from what I've observed from others it seems to be random and I haven't seen a solution. The only thing I can think of right now is to maybe factory reset/clean flash and see if that helps.
