Partly for nostalgic reasons and partly because I want to run an old application, I need to downgrade my 2795 from WM5 to PPC2003. HP has already told me this is not possible but IIRC the 2795 originally shipped with PPC2003. I purchased the 2795 used and it came with WM5 so I do not have a PPC2003 ROM, is it available from a source other than HP?

After talking with HP again the hx2795 never shipped with PPC2003, but its predecessor the hx2725 did. So if I really want PPC2003 on my 2795 it will have to be hacked on.

no htc devices can use a rom made for even another htc device
not sure about hp but i doubt it since they seem only offer rom updates for some devices
and i'm pretty sure that hp change money for updates
cingular is suppose to release the h6200 series which is the 6315 just with 2003se . So if you can obtain that rom then in your good shape.

I'm sure if you can find a WM6 build for your Iteq X-Bond then you can certainly flash it.
I'm also sure that if you can dump your ROM, and have the necessary tools to restore it should you wish to return to WM5, then you can do this also.
Or if you can find a different WM5 ROM image you could also flash to that.
As you may have noticed though, we deal with HTC devices mainly here, and there's nothing dedicated to your device.
I think it is risky to upgrade your device to wm6. Since iteq has 64MB rom and as far as I know, wm6 needs at least 128MB. (correct me if I wrong), So until now I have not tried these wm6 extended roms on my iteq device.

ipaqs don't really have any upgrade options, oem or not. unsure about the 4700, but every other item never received upgrades i don't think
the old ipaqs where the ones that had upgrades, when hp bought compaq their ipaqs stopped having major upgrades

there is not any official WM6 nor 6.1 stable/official version available directly from HP. only wm5, and this original version is nothing interresting, tunned versions of WM5 is more stable, much faster and better. if you want WM6 in your devices (I have exact the same as you, 2790 and 4700) you must find it by yourself. right now I am using for 2790b 4PDA last version and for 4700 wm6 by kozhura. try to search this forum a bit for more infos.
