Hey all,
Just thought I would post this as I have seen several other threads of people asking how to hook up a normal 2.5mm phone headset to the PPC6800 phone as it has no headset jack. It took some work, and some disappointment, but I did find a solution.
There is an HTC part number SCB6800, which oddly enough HTC has no idea about and does not sell, but UT Starcomm does. It costs about $18.50 from UT Starcomm which is the cheapest source by far. This is a Y-Adapter cable that hooks into your USB port and gives you a 2.5mm headset jack and a power connector. It even has the HTC logo on the cable so it is legit, and it works great.
I tried ordering one of these from an online vendor first and wound up getting an adapter that looks exactly the same except that it had a 3.5mm Headphone jack and a power connector, they also tried sending me a USB to 3.5mm Headset adapter too, telling me both of those were the same item.
But for those of you wanting to just use a good old phone headset that is what you want. If people wish I can post some pictures of the various adapters I ran across for comparison.

Maybe there's some confusion, but where did you find the 3.5mm headset adapter? My 6800 (Mogul) came *with* the 2.5mm headset adapter, but I can't seem to find an equivalent 3.5mm adapter (except for a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter, which would just be a pain).

This may be obvious to most. I bought a usb to 2.5mm jack adapter on ebay, (it was only a few quid) then found that the radio didn't work unless I stood near the window! I thought it would use the headphone lead as the aerial, I was wrong, drat! Now I have to carry 2 sets of headphones.
its because the adaptor either doesnt have the wire for hte headset, or it only goes as far as the adaptor because theres no way you can use your headphones as an aerial as they wernt designed for that.
Take the adaptor apart, find the aerial for the antenna and extend it if you can. Saves you carrying round two pairs of headphones

You can cut off the phones and leave as much of the original cable as possible. That is what I did to my Atom and listened thru the speaker
I was wondering if i could grab a normal mini-usb to usb cable, cut the normal usb ending and sold the audio wires to a 3.5mm jack, so to use it with any audio device.
I just need to know wich of the wires inside the usb are the ones wich carry audio?
if i'm able to make it will make a tutorial although my english it's not that good
just so i don't have to break the original wire.
thanks
Not really - it can't be done
Here's the pin-out diagram
http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs/index.php/2006/09/10/htc_hermes_usb_connector_pin_config
but you would noticed that the "miniUSB" socket on the Touch is actually a 2 in 1 device, a standard mini USB only have the bottom connection which deals with normal data traffic and charging, the top connectors carries the audio which the standard mini USB don't connect to (physically it can't).
But you can buy specially made adaptor to provide USB to audio sold on this site or elsewhere, such device make use of the more special connector to connect with the audio side.
I have 2 of such adaptor, they cost around USD15 a piece. Yes a bit more expensive than normal USB but they look neat
yeah, i wrote the post beforing having my elf, wich luckily was en ELFIN i'm really happy with it, i received it 3 hours ago

I paid mine about 3/4 euros....
Have a look here:

And this is STEREO quality....
i'm from argentina so, i can't buy on ebay. The only adaptor here cost aprox U$S 35
that's expensive but it's my only choice
Just purchased my adapter from ebay and got it the other day... Works great. I have it connected to an FM transmitter so that all the audio (mp3's and gps audio) out to my car strereo.
Right after I purchased the unit I looked around and saw one with a built in microphone so I could have made it into a handsfree unit and have the audio go over the car stereo... DOH! I may do the upgrade in the next month. The adapter I got with shipping only cost 8 dollars.

cbaty,
i'm from brazil and i found this site about adapter http://www.expansys.com.br/p.aspx?i=149937...
i don't know if works very well and if is possible to sell to argentina...
but, you can try....
I purchased a mini usb to rca cable advertised for use with the Moto Razr phones. I know that the car charger for those phones works for my HTC. Heck, I could even charge my phone from my PS3 mini usb cables meant for charging controllers.
I received the cable today and I can't get it to work with anything.
Initially I tried it with my car's aux input. No workey.
Tried it on my home stereo. No workey.
I guess my assumption of this cable working for me was wrong. The only way I can get audio out of my HTC is with the supplied headset. Does anyone know how to convert that to RCA instead of 3.5mm?
Thanks.
The regular mini usb cables don't carry audio from the HTC Touch. That's why the earphone's they give you have a different connector, it looks like a mini USB but it's not.
It's easy to take apat the HTC earbuds and splice them to a 3.5mm jack so you can use standard earbuds. I did it and it took less than 5 min. There is another thread about it here somewhere with a step by step and everything.
i hav modified the original hands free, removed the earpieces and soldered a 3.5 mm socket into the call receive / volume adjust part. working fine so far ...
I did the same, but I broke the mic while soldering
Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the elf handsfree so I can know what I am trying to fix?
abt d port
hey.....u get d branded mini usb to 3.5mm jack in htc accessories.........jus chk it out buddy....

There are two types, one is a usb connector and a short cable to a earphone socket, and one is all in one...
I can get them in the UK on ebay for around $5 - add the same again for postage, and I'll get one and mail it to you - Paypal me when you get it... if you want me to, let me know and I'll work out the exact costs.
Here's some links, like I said, find one you want, I can buy it here and ship it for you.

If I am not mistaken, you can do one better - not only you get USB to 3.5, it will include the handsfree clip-on controls (mic, answer button, volume etc), allowing you to use the earphones of your choice. Which was the absolute must for me, because my ears are too small for the regular plugs. Not only that, most earphones included in the box are average quality at best, none will beat Sennheiser anyway.
I got one like that for my LG Prada, because the buggers use proprietary connector, which sucks. Paid $4.50 USD with FREE delivery to New Zealand. Can't beat that, I think. Let me see if the same seller has one for Elf.

Yes, there are a few options - I personally don't like the handsfree adaptop becasue you end up with too many wires in your packet... I use mine with some sennheiser phones with short cable, to make it neater.
I do have a set of Motorola S9 bluetooth headphones which work great, but you do get the very occasional cut out, and you have to remember to keep them charged up....
I think the all-in-one-block adaptor is the neatest for keeping everything tidy and untangled.
i got the A-200 HTC audio adapter it's gr8 ... usb (IN) and 3.5 , 2.5 , usb mini for headset and usb for charger (OUT)
it's really gr8 .. but i have a small problem ... sometimes the voice dailing work by itself !!
i mean the voice speed dail prog works and ask me to say the name to call ,,, and as the music in on or if iam talking ..the device go wiz the nearest voice tag and call !!!
and when i called the service center the told me tht may be the prob, with the adapter!!
anyone have the same prob ?
help........Who have 'iswish'
I come from China, who have the iswish this software? Is it all right to give me 1? thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

hey, here you are

Thank you very for this one, i really need this.
I have just got delivery of my Asus P320 Windows smartphone. But unfortunatly i have discovered that there is no 3.5 mm or 2.5 mm headphone jack on it. I am wondering if there are any 5pin Mini USB to 3.5mm or 2.5mm headphone adapters, If not, is there anything i could use with windows mobile 6.1 to get music through bluetooth to a small module which I could connect a 3.5mm headphone jeack to. Thanks for your help.
yes their is a usb to headphone jack you can buy
.... never seen a small module but you can stream your bluetooth to a bluetooth headset
Yeah I already have an expensive set of New sennheiser headphones which i do not plan to replace. they are wired so If i was to go the bluetooth route it would be to get a small module which I can connect a 3.5mm audio plug into to convert it to bluetooth signals to my phone.
But you say You have seen 5pin Mini USB adapters, Any Idea where you saw them and where i can get it from,,,, specifically?

I am using this one
Works great! Just plug in any 3.5mm headset and you even have call handling and mic on it!
hi,is there anything like that ,that would work on iPAQ 614c?
miniUSB dont carry audio
it's like normal usb a serial digital data transfer std.
thats why htc have extUSB which is miniUSB with analog audio in the extre wires
pc headsets or speakers which use usb are really external audiocards which transfer the
digital data into analog sound
as far as I know no device can use en external audiocard unless it support usbHost which pretty few wmobiles seem to do
ok,thanks, then i'll have to keep on "enjoying" the music with headphones i got with device heh

http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=15367&cat=3078

Just arch on ebay for a "mini usb to 3.5 jack and it will come up with loads all min haved worked with my tytn and tytn 2 all apart the one i bought which said it fits a motorola razor!!!
Also i have not payed more than about £7 inc postage so far.
Happy hunting.
HI I have the same problem. I have an I-mate Ultimate 8150, I bought it used and when I opend the box I realised that the were no head set or charger.
I'm seeking the polish internet for a adapter 11 pin miniusb - jack 3.5 with no results. I bought an adapter for motorola v3 and it isn't working just like a head set for motorola K1 on miniusb.
I-mate 8150 is very similar to XDA Flame and I think that in those models the sound pins are different do the in the HTC models.
I am looking for some 11 pin miniusb schema (the socket is also used to charge and comunicate with computer).
I've seen an adapter on http://www.imatephonestore.com/accessoryDetail.asp?accMDL=AUDIO_CONVRTR
but i think that the price is too high for such a thing.
Maybe some one knew how to make this adapter or how to remake the motorola k1 headset to work on I-mate 8150
Plaese help me I don't now what else to do thanks
get 11 pin to 3.5 mm
even iam using htc
nd in htc we also have 11 pin jack
i saw one very good converter on :- http://www.amazon.com/Touch-3-5mm-S...tionId=1XM1P73VXKBX6ZQPKN02/mixi-20/ref=nosim
however instead of buying that wt i did i bought a erricsson bluetooth enabled headphones they are cool nd free from entangles nd best part is that even my bluetooth have 3.5 mm jack so i can connect with my car.
Well I bought 2 of 11 pin to 3.5 mm headset adaptor convertor for HTC. Though both are working same but little difference make them very unique. First one is Stereo Converter 11pins to 3.5mm adaptor which simply let me to use my Blackberry curve headset with G1. Other one is cool coz it comes with microphone as well answer switch. I am now using my 3.5 mm headset with G1 and also talking and answering from the same headset converter. Its really cool check this our http://www.fommy.com/accessories.as...obile+G1&cat=Headsets&subCat=Headset+Adapters
Cool I just order one for me the Streo headset adaptor with microphone and answer switch. Along with this I also got 3 in 1 USB adaptor. This one comes with 3 ports to connect 3.5 mm headset jack, 11pins to 11pins HTC adapter and USB connected that can be use to sync or charge G1
11pin is no good, Im looking for the 5pin usb which is on the Asus P320, are there any atall, I have already tried buying a motorola one which has the right connectors but does not transmit any sound.
I have the same phone and looking for the same converter
r there any converters specially available for this phone out yet?
I have AKG's and so youre telling me I cant use them even If I get the USB to audio jack adapter? Also In our store this guy connects his phone to the stereo system in the store with a mini audio (banana plug I think) to the system and plays his music of his phone..can the TYTNII do the same?
BTW, even if I could use the AKG headphones it probably would sound so loud as these are high ohms headphones AKG 240MKII..right? any cheap micro sized headphone amps around?
The mini USB port in asus p320 is actually a 10 pin port (5 on top and 5 on bottom). out of them 5 pins are used for audio and microphone. And others are for USB. Hope this information will be useful for searching 10 pin mini USB to 3.5 mm audio.
I've been using this for my xv6900. It works great.
Is there such a thing as a mini-USB to 3.5 mm 4 pole adapter that works for the HTC Touch? I want to use a 3.5 mm headset with it.
sure
expensys and most other online stores like it got them coming out their rear end
http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=176772
The same one that comes with Touch Pro should work.
Thanks for your suggestions, but is there something that is a bit more compact? Something like this but with 4 poles instead of 3: http://www.amazon.com/Headset-Adapter-PPC6800-Verizon-T-Mobile/dp/B0016D9URO

I have been looking for a 3.5mm headset (not headphones, the ones with in-line mic and the extra terminal), but none of them seem to work with the mic. I have one I got for my hermes a while back that has three inputs - HTC USB, proper mini usb and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Very cool for using with desktop speakers and charging or syncing at the same time, but no use if you are trying to use a 3.5mm headset socket from a Nokia.
However, I just found one on ebay that does seem to work with 3.5mm headsets. Ordered one from the US for £9 all-in, although there are some in the UK for £15+pnp. Search for "HTC Headset Adapter" and they come up.
One comment about these: HTC has started making 10-pin mini-USBs. The bottom row of pins are still used for communicating with activesync, but the top row is now for the audio and mic. Traditional 5-pin mini-USBs do not have the top row; hence they'll only work for activesync and not audio functions.
So if you buy a 3.5mm adapter, make sure it is 10-pin and not 5!
As you know, the configuration on 3.5mm plugs for i-products (iPhone/iPod/etc.) is different from standard 3.5mm plugs. Hence headsets for iPhone often do not work on other things, and it's why products like this exist:
http://www.geek.com/articles/mobile...ive-android-iphone-headset-adapters-20110328/
It's very frustrating. I tried buying the following three items from ebay:
1. A very short 3.5mm headset extension cable or a right angle adapter:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/220820474616
2. Headset to PC audio:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/270787425821
3. PC audio to headset:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/280712788439
They are ALL iPhone types... they work perfectly with an iPhone and its (default) headset. But not with my HTC android phone and its default htc headset
I'm hoping some people here may have bought similar products for their phones... so can you tell me where to buy from?
Regarding item #1... what I want is a single product that can go between my headset and my phone. I have a problem with the way I keep my phone in my pocket, it keeps bending the headset plug, damaging it. So I just want an adapter/extension cable between the headset and the phone, so the headset itself doesn't get damaged.
But it's so hard to find a 3.5mm extension cord or adapter that works with headsets (i.e. not headphones), AND is not an iPhone type >.<
