Java Vm for Windows Mobile 5 to run online java applets? - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi! I'm not really into java, so I would like ask for some help. What I'm looking for is a java vm or a plugin for pocket internet explorer, because I would like to run applets in the internet explorer. For example: chat. Like www.chat.hu or www.chat-avenue.com (sorry for the advertising). Are there any plugins or vms to do this? I found this:
http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=492&more=1
http://www.cs.unc.edu/~lindsey/7ds/notes/jeode/
But I can't find a download link for Jeode enviromnet. Any other solutions? Edit: (new thunderhawk 2.1 with java support is not good because it doesn't support 240x240, and I got a Pocket Loox T830)
Thanks for your help!

Yo
I have the some problem...
Nothing found yet!

Anybody?

Any joy now? I'm looking for the same thing except to run in Opera 10.

Java Support

Hi All,
I have been trying to figure out a way to view websites with java content.
Obviously I must be missing something, because I cant view any!
I have downloaded a trial version of Netfront which claims to have Java support and guess what! still no java
Does anyone know of a simple solution to this problem or can recommend some suitable software (Preferably FREE, i'm skint, will accept something PM'd   )
Thanks very much in advance
J
I have the same problem. HELP!
Netfront supports Javascript and not Java. For Java, you need something like MS Java Virtual Machine or the Java software from Sun's Java web site (www.java.com)
However, I don't think there is a Windows Mobile version for that.
Check out this page: http://www.java.com/en/mobile/ ... there's nothing related there I guess.
Good luck
Hello guys,
i was to ask a question about the java & u opened this subject here,
my question is what is the use of midlet ? & why Java games don't work on the PDA?? it isn't suppose to work on all consoles , with java installed ?? this is the reason why Java was made for ???!!!!
Can someone clarify ?!
Netfront supports java (and javascript also), you just need to enable it in the options. And be sure you have installed java (the one that cames with netfront)
netfront with java also works fine in mine.

help... java on ppc

Hello
I'm looking for a way to install java runtime on pocket pc (windows mobile 6.1 on hp ipaq hx2495). I've been looking all over the internet for a specific download, but I'm not very experienced when it comes to java, and I don't know what to download. To be more specific, I'm trying to run this java program called DGuitar (http://dguitar.sourceforge.net/en/index.html). Thanks for the help!
Woot! Something I can answer...
There are a few answers though;
First you can use IBM's J9 which works just fine on the WM standard versions (no phone).
I find that Jbed is a much superior JRE for the Pocket PC but there are a few files you need. There was a post awhile back here on the boards so credit goes to who ever figured this out (a freaking genius!)
You need to have two dll's in your windows directory. They are SMS.dll and Phone.dll. You simply need to unzip these files, copy them to your pocket pc's windows directory and restart your PDA. Once you do this you can install many of the HTC apps like HTC home, HTC today etc and Jbed.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

Thanks very much I'll try it.
That´s perfect! Thank you very much.
Now it works on hx4700 with WM6.1.
Glad to hear it!

1. welcome to xda-devs
2. read my MIDlet Bible in the General forum (and, as a rule of thumb, make sure you always read my new - and past - articles & Bibles).
Thank you very much. It work for my HP4700+wm6.1

JavaFX for Windows Mobile Available

"The other day Java made a version of JavaFX available for download for Windows Mobile Phone devices. JavaFX is intended to bring more rich media content to phones and since JavaFX can be cross platform (PC, Mac, BlackBerry…everything except the iPhone since Apple may never approve of it) developers can make applications one time and they can run on these platforms natively. Windows is the first mobile platform to have a release of JavaFX. The package contains 4 demos. A Twitter client, a simple calculator, a photo viewer and a little application where your finger makes a ripple and the fish follows it.
So for the first time developer’s can start to work on developing JavaFX applications and have a real mobile testing platform. Of course you can run any other Java app through this as well (I tested it with Google Maps java and it ran fine). The download and additional release notes are located here."

Well, I test it out and in fact is the best java machine that I test it until now for ppc!!!
Downloaded Opera mini and worked like a charm. Even asked me where I wanted to install opera mini, memory internal or external...
Many thkx sun, hopes that this would be in fact the default java machine in major phones. Or if java was not from Sun....

ooh, thanks for information! need to take a closer look then.
(if only bt work with that too...you know what i mean ..).
upd: hmm it can be SLOW as hell and seems to be typical vga soft, although it handles launched application resolutions quite well(320x240 is 320x240)..

Hmm, I don't know. JavaFX is much, much, much slower with Opera Mini on my Touch Pro than jbed. The font seems a little nicer, though. I think it uses antialiasing.
Interesting app.
Worked fine but....
Could not install file from memory, only by internet, that worked.
Installed Gmail as test. Continuallyl, said there was no internet connection with Wifi and Active sync.
After fiddling with it. I decided to remove JavaFx. After that many strange things happened.
Had to hard reset. :-(
Wm6.1

I have removed JavaFX, too, but everything went fine, no hard reset needed. WM6.1, too.
It works on a Touch HD. But for some reason, its slow. Esp. the fish app.
How is the Twitter App? Just asking as I tend to shy away from java apps on my device because I never really had much success with them running properly.
I'm now running Opera Mini in JavaFX rather than JBED. I like it better.
Does anyone know the correct syntax to make a shortcut to automatically run Opera Mini (rather than start JavaFX and choose Opera Mini from the list)?
With JBED it was "\windows\jbed.exe" -run s0_

When I click on New application -> From storage, I'm always asked to enter a URL, I can't seem to choose any file. Have it installed on Blackstone latest stock ROM. Any hint ?

The "from storage" option doesn't seem to work, but it's easy enough to just install java apps in the usual manner, as JavaFX makes itself the default JVM. Click on the JAD file in a web browser and it'll install fine.
sun java network problem
so I cooked the sun java package on my tp2.. installed opera mini... but I can't get the network. if you are running opera mini, maybe you have some provisioning files that are nessesary to connect to the internet?? OM just says that there is no network connection.
JavaFx.exe parameters
I see that you still don't know how to run this emulator from a shortcut and run in it any midlet.
But maybe someone haven't posted it yet but knows it. I hope someone will write what is the missing parameter

Can't run KAYAK on Windows Mobile 6.5, was working on 6.1

Hi, i have issues with running the Kayak travel app on the Windows Mobile 6.5 with Esmertec Java launcher. When trying to launch the programs just freezes completely. The console is talking about some language issue and it auto closes (on MySaifu Java client). I had no issue whatsoever in making it work on the Windows Mobile 6.1.
What could be the reason and is there any way to port the app of Windows Phone 7 onto 6.5? Any thoughts or any alternative app for looking flights/hotel prices? Thanks.
Resolved
I wish to thank the entire XDA community for once-again-manifested total disinterest in dealing with problems of people using Windows Mobile.
After weeks of struggling i have resolved the issue myself by installing the Esmertec Jbed Java client, instead of the one that was pre-loaded in my system.
Now Kayak works perfectly. Hope this will be useful to someone else at least.
PS: Here is the page with the Esmertec Java emulator:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407667
PS2: This issue and solution applies to all versions of Windows Mobile, the reason of initial malfunctioning not being cause of WinMo 6.5 but cause of a different Java client installed in the Rom. After that i've got the same problem on the 6.1 which indicated me that the problem wasn't the system but Java itself.
