Searching for best battery lifetime - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Hi, i am getting my tytn tomorrow (with wm5) and now i wanted to know which ROM / Radio has the best (or a at least a very good) battery lifetime?
What's about schaps 4.22 + newest radio ? I heard from some people that this would drain very much power..
Thx for your help!

New TNT seems to ave beenoptimized for that

Battery Life.
I use Shamanix grass 1.3 lite. I installed the apps that I needed. I'm also using 1.38 radio. My battery life with normal usage over a 16-18 hour day is about 75%. I have no problems with my signal strength or battery life. I have it connect to my 3 email account once a hour. I also use gprs for my internet quite often. Total phone usage is about 2-3 hours a day. Thus far the best battery life since my wizard.

This question is hard to answer because everybody uses the phone in different way and it depends on many factors. I also had increased battery drain with newest Schaps ROM.

Battery drains very fast after ROM upgrading to B&B 3.7

I install B&B3.7 a week ago. The battery was ok in the first few days.
now it drains very fast. In the night in stand by mode (no application running, LCD is off), 50% of battery is drained. Playing mp3 with mobile media player 1 hour, 12% is drained.
anyone knows a solution for it?
has this problem something to do with the ROM?
P.S. I am using O2 Orbit (Germany)
Thank you.
It's something to do with 'learning'
Apparently, it's all to do with the systen 'learning' the characteristics of the battery - the % reading is probably inaccurate. When you flash a new ROM, it resets all the battery knowledge, and can take a week or three before it gets accurate again.
I had this in the past, then performance stabilised. Now I've reblasted 3.7 and the battery drain is back. Just keep it on a charger overnight for a few days and it should hopefully be ok.
Hi. I'v had the same problem with battery and did three things :
1. This tweak from my old Xda Mini S
2. Installed new Wisbar Advance 3 Beta 5 (if you're using Wisbar Advance). And this probably was the reason of weak battery in my mobile.
3.

And TangerineTractor is right. You need to sort of calibrate your battery reading.
I'm doing some testing since yesterday, but it looks like solved.
Got the same problem dude,
my battery is draining at the speed of light...
I aplied the sd-battery-save.cab but i am still loosing something like 1% every 30mn.
Any info?
thanks
Me Too And Also I Feel Some Slowness In This Room In Comparing To Other Tom Room??
For now, I'v lost 2% after 5 hours or so. Try to recharge your battery from 0% to full 100%. It should help.
I've changed my radio back from 02.94.90 to 02.93.90 that seemed to fix it for me.

to the mods for a poll of some sort?

to the more advanced users and Mods...
i was thinking perhaps a sticky or other thread where everyone can only post their battery usage and infomation and branded or not?
if we can get a thread or poll IN a thread, where people can input there uptime, and battery %.
maybe it will be a good way we can all evaluate and compare battery drain .
right now im border line of returning my phone for a swap incase i have a battery problem..
i know there are other battery threads, but i was thinking of strickly only being able to post battery info so we can all just scroll down or read some sort of poll and compare to our own usage......
Battery usage / drain is far too difficult an unknown to monitor.
There are so many things that affect battery drain.
Usage
Apps Installed / used and for how long
Signal strength throughout the whole charge cycle
Radio stack
Bluetooth usage and range
Data usage/ usage type and again signal strength
If you want to monitor charge cycle the only "real" way of achieving this is using the stock rom and radio, disable 3g so you only have GSM and disable data connections.
Run it for a few days and then see where you are.
Currently I'm getting around two days with moderate usage and push mail bouncing from HSDPA to GPRS.
There realy is no way we could do a poll to collect different users charge cycles.
BTW using GPS and 3G will kill the battery quick time.
Cheers,
Beasty
true...it would be difficult..
i just find it hard when you say moderate usage yoru getting 2 days ! thats incredible....
as it seems right now with no programs installed (except battery meter, config 3.3 with setting to conserve battery) and custom icons....i will only get about 8 hours of minor usage... and when i say minor i mean, no push data, no gps and no 3g..it only locks on 3g if i were to get email or go on the internet...and most of the time i just take it out of stand by to look at the screen since its new...
the only thing i will say is i do have wifi running and set to best performrance when at home, its either that or 3g...not sure which would draw more power....
MAYBE since some people like you are getting 2 days with moderate usage and others are not...
MAYBE it could be branded versions that have higher battery drain??
right now i just hspl it, and trying to find an htc stock rom that will work on my phone.. i assume that it would be better then tmos version....

From what you have said WIFI will be the cause of your rapid drain.
Try it for a day or two without wifi or GPS and see how you go.
It's true the battery is not up to the features/functions of the device and a higher capacity batt would be far more suitable, but there's only so much you can cram into the form factor.

yes yes, i will try what you said...
i am glad though tthat it does come with a 1500mah battery...
that is pretty big from what i seen in the past... so i am definatly gladd for that...
im just waiting for someone to create a battery cover made out of a solar panel..

battery life with the 3VO Rom ver 2.50 080809

Has anyone else had any battery life problems with the new Rom by ookba? I have one of those extended life batteries in my excalibur ( it is a 2400 mAh ) and I have found it loses power much quicker after I installed the new Rom by ookba. By the way I love the Rom it is awesome! But I was wondering if there is something I could do to increase the battery life more like it was befor I installed the new Rom. I do not want to take the new Rom off cause it Rocks!
I would like to have the battery last a bit longer though.. I don't know if it is the titanium panels or what that is making it lose power so quick after I have it on all day ( with bt off and wi-fi only occasionally ) it drops to 70 to 60 percent power by nightime. I have the normal stuff set up on the phone to use the best possible battery life but uses a lot more battery than befor I put the new Rom by ookba in.
I am looking for some answers but do not want to take this super Rom off my phone.
Thanks!
Personally my battery life has drastically improved since I moved from one of the Rose's Roms to 3VO's Rom. I had no idea that a Rom could make such a big difference in terms of battery life.
My battery life has gone down since upgrade to "3VO Rom ver 2.50 080809"(But still I like this rom). It only lasts 18hrs without any extensive usage. I will suspect that its radio which is causing this drain.

That is reallly odd. I have a 1550 mAh extended battery, and in one day of decent usage I only go down to 80% on a daily basis.
What I do notice is that once I hit 35-40%, battery usage increases insanely (but i am assuming that this is due to some anti-fail methods used to preserve the phones functions and whatever you may be working on , but i may be wrong). But besides that, i have had no real power issues...

same thing here. i switched back to 2.0 and have been very happy with the battery life...
This has been a well documented issue with the 2.50 version of the ROM. Ookba is aware and has mentioned reverting to an older core but keeping the same UI tweaks and feel of 2.50. If the drain is that much of a concern try version 2.00, 071809. It supposedly has a 'hole' in it but I never noticed it. The icons are a little different and there aren't as many UI tweaks but I had GREAT battery life on it. But if you can deal with it for a while Ookba I am sure will have something for us to try when he gets done over on the Maple page. The Dash 3G needs 3VO too ya know. So its up to you. Try the other ROM that doesn't have as much eye candy but has better life until a new release, or deal with the battery drain like the rest of us and wait for a new release. I just close out my programs as much as I can. I have a 960 maH and I get about 24 hours with regular use. Up to you.
battery life is so good so far
the battery life was good and improved and the mobile changed totally as i feel i got new one thanks for 3vo rom
I have noticed that my battery is also going low very quickly after this rom upgrade. today I'v removed omap clock settings from startup and looking what will happen. I think the OMAP is eating more power from my battery. the battery is 960mah and lasted 3-4 days with previous NRG rom.
well i completely agree i am using same battery and it was draining very quickly so i switched back to kavana 6.1 and every thing was normal again

I improved battery performance by using the OMAP Clock GUI and setting the low-end to 180 and the high-end to 252.
I agree, it must have something to do with the last version because the previous versions didn't drain so quickly...
I disabled omap and nothing significant happened, during the night in standby mode the battery was drained from 60% to 25%. now I disabled titanium panels and changed back to sliding panels. And there is IT! the battery life is much better, I think the "power eater" was titanium panel. You can give it try and post results.
remove check status mscr
its in the startup folder. helped me alot. before with my phone habits i would make it about 3hrs if that.
ookba posted this in his ROM thread.

There's no way that's possible. If anything, HTC Sliding Panels will eat more battery than CHome because it's a loyout no longer native to the OS. checkstatus.mscr is the culprit. Almost positive.
I Do Completly Agree ...
Yes I feel the 3VO Rom Ver 2.50.080809.. makes the effect on the performance of the Battery Life, I would indeed like make a STRONG APPEAL on behalf of all the users of 3VO Rom Ver 2.50.080809, to MR. OOBKA that he should get us some way of it , because we love and admire his hard work a Lot.

Battery Patch
Guys, I built a patch file that makes a few changes in an attempt to help battery life. Please install it and reboot.
Also could be found on the second post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=224547&d=1252178358
well i'm 3 hours into testing the patch.. gonna see if i can beat my normal 24-36 hours limit. i'll let you know tomorrow if i see any improvement
for me its a big improvement almost half day since i last charge my dash and with normal used im on 93%, before it will eat up 20% just texting from time to time.
tomorow i'll post again, before i can used my dash with the newest rom for just 1 1/2 day or less.
*70% left for 24 hrs
im in the middle of figuring out something. Its highly unlikely this is ookba's problem but, i installed the patch and got great battery life for 2 days about 5 hours longer than normal. I fully recharged before i went to bed and woke up this morning with my battery at 38% thats a 62% lose in less than 8 hours... anyone have any ideas. I'm used to running 18-30 hours non stop on this battery
2.50 and 2.60 rom update
i keep getting an error on my phone from time to time
Tmobile Dash 3G Mapl100
error: Cannot find window "DesktopExplorerWindow"
ive done hard reset's and everything still comes up on both roms

Best radio for battery life?

I read in another thread someone suggest that the .08 radio is the best battery saver. Has anyone done any testing on this at all, and could share their findings?
I'm currently on the .20 radio but would definitely be interested in any advantages another radio might provide. I'm running Neophyte's Froyo Sense 1.71
Well I definitely noticed some increase in overall battery life with 08 but when actually using the device for surfing the web or navigation the battery is still very weak in my opinion.
So don't expect any miracles.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
On .20 using Pays-Desire rom - I too have seen an improvement in battery life but having installed Juice plotter I can see there is no significant change in battery usage when using the internet - it discharges at the same rate as before. What might have improved my battery life is the calibration of the battery - there is a thread about this on here, and I think it works.
I also notice the battery holds on for longer when the device is not doing anything (i.e. standby). On Juice Plotter I get a more or less flat line when the device is on standby with data connections off (I use Juice defender for that). But when it activates 3G etc then it starts discharging relatively quickly: 10% in half an hour of browsing - which means you go from a full to flat battery in 5 hours of surfing. As per previous roms under Froyo and Eclair.

[Q] leedroid froyo vs leedroid gingerbread

i was using froyo version for about 2 weeks and imo it's the most stable rom with best battery life i have used! Yesterday i switched to gingerbread version to get better audio in camcorder! and the audio is surely better! but battery life seems a bit worse than froyo.. maybe i need to recalibrate my battery... but wanted to know in general, which one is better? and especially which one has better battery life?
hi,
used both of them. GB is a good battery life but you should use it for at least 2 days.
need cycles charge/discharge batt.
actually used to go home with 50% bat available and normal use... 3g connectivity all day +sms + facebook + some ather app about 45 min usage.
I agree with fragargon: battery life was terrible the first couple of days (I was also flashing stuff quite a lot) but it seems better today. Will report again later.
