I have recently flashed my ASUS P525 from original WM5 to WM6 - ViVi's.
Unfortunalty I couldn't set up one very important feature - SPEED DIAL by holding the number 1 key on the h/w keyboard.
I've searched through all internet and found nothing that would work.
The only anwser provided was:
SETTINGS -> PHONE -> SERVICES -> VOICE MAIL -> And change the number there to your desire (it worked for me on WM5 but not on WM6) or...
registry -> HKCU -> Software -> Microsoft ->Vmail -> PhoneNumber1 and set it to the desired number.
Unfortunately both of these resolutions failed to work on my system...
But... Don't worry !
The solution is:
Set up the desired Speed dial - like other usual speed dials (on my p525 WM6 It's either through contacts:
Contacts -> click on the desired contact -> menu -> Add to Speed Dial
and set it to whatever location (we will change it later) -> OK -> OK
Download and transfer to the PDA/phone a program called DBNavigator (the one for Windows Mobile 5 works for WM6 as well)
Open DBNavigator on the PDA and:
expand EDB Databases
expand pim.vol
expand speed.db
There will be records with numbers eg.:
0x40416000
0x40416001
0x40416002
Click on them to find out which one is the one that you want to assign to SPEED DIAL #1 - There will be description like:
0x0007001F - "Contact name"
If you found the record with the desired description you need to edit the key
0x00020002 -
which is responsible for the hardware key that you push to get the speed dial.
Value of this record is in HEX but you don't need to worry about it as you only need to change it to:
0x0001 - h/w key number one - usually/ALLWAYS voice mail
To change it you just click on the key name 0x00020002 and you will get dialog box:
PropValue:
put there:
0001
And you're home !
Now when you go to Speed dials you should see Speed DIAL 1 which you can edit just like other normal speed dials !
Enjoy.
I know this is an old thread, but it's the ONLY one I found that actually helped me SOLVE the issue of not having the 1 key dial my voicemail. I lost the ability one day after I had problems with one of my email accounts syncing properly. I had assigned my voicemail to a different speed dial, but it just bugged me so bad that it wasn't right...
SO, THANK YOU!!!
PS for others who need to do this on a smartphone rahter than a PPC - this db viewer is intended to run on a touchscreen device, but if you download and use a program called Mymobiler you can run it from your desktop PC while connected to your phone. that's what I had to do but it WORKED!!
YaY!
THANKS!!!
Same stupid little problem, thanks for the fix!
Me too, thanks very much for this -- it was driving me crazy but works like a charm as instructed on my Tilt2.
This worked for me! I was trying to change the default number that T-Mobile assigns and wont allow you to change. I had to delete the entry for the voicemail and assign my Google voice contact as number 1.
It worked on my HTC HD2, 3.14 ROM
Thanks.
Still working on ACER S200 neotouch with WM6.5 23699.
Thank you very much!
Thanks - worked for me

Just got my artemis 2 days ago. I ugraded from an Qtek s100 (so its my first time with WM5) so sorry if there are stupid problems but i already tried a lot of things.
1st – When backlight is turned of by itself for bat. saving it wont turn on again with a screen tap. And there is any option for activating that way.
2nd – Contacts saved in sim also apear in contacts. In WM2003 they only appeard if copied to contacts. I like to save a copy of my contacts in sim but its anoying have duplicated contacts
3rd – I tried everything but seems that i dont find any voice command working a part from that lousy voice deal that requires training . I had voice command 1.5 from Microsot but always close itself for an error of somekind. I tried also the version 1.6 of cyberion here in the forum modified for dopor and wizard but no luck too. setting and instalation are well but when i call the app it says "this device is not suported"
my ppc is in greek but i will try to help you.
1. go settings-system-energyor batery-menu-screen light-battery
and check the options you want i suggest to you better bat life to close the screen light after a minute or two.the ppc opens again from side button on/off
2.open with a registry editor
HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone
create DWORD: ShowSim
Value: 0 = hide
1 = show
3. i do not know yet
Thanks for the help. But i dont know why the option to turn on after button press or style tap doesnt exist on my htc. But after i changed the time from 2 to one.Dont know why but came back to normal and now is working fine. Now is just the voice command that makes a lot of diference when driving
Any clue how i can put Microsoft voice comand 1.5 or cyberon voice commander working. I know it works because i intaled a version of cyberon 1.6 worked fine but is chinese ...
MS voice command
I have the same problem with voice command. I installed it onto the device OK but as soon as my PPC boots or when i try to run MS VC I get the error "Voice command has encountered a problem. Restart Voice Command and try again."
I had it on my universal and will need it more now that I've not got a hardware keyboard to type the names in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
I found here in the forum de version of Cyberon Voice Commander that is similar to microsoft voice command. The version modified for Dopod works great. "Cyberon Coice Command 1.6 cvc-ppc-ame-dopod-601062.cab" works.
Hi All
I've been on the phone to O2 trying to find the code that will extend the period of time my phone rings before passing to voicemail. They gave me some great long code etc but it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone have any ideas about how to do this on the orbit ?
Jeff
I'm interested in this too.
I remember the old days of a 'normal' phone where you would just set the 'Divert if not answered' and the like and it gave you a length of time to ring before diverting. there doesn't seem to be anything like this on the orbit though..at least not that I've found yet.
Hi, did you tried this ? :
1. Settings -> Phone -> Services
2. Call Forwarding -> Get Settings
3. Forward phone calls only if:
- No answer : (Voicemail number)
- Forward after (time)
Should do what you need.
for the most providers there is a code you have to dial with your phone to switch this on or off. ask your provider or search the homepage of your provider for this

worked for me like a charm cheers Mate
First you need to find your voicemail deposit number. Call your service provider's Customer Services department as they will know it.
PLEASE NOTE: deposit and retrieval numbers are usually different.
IE: my Voicemail retrieval = 121, My Vodafone Voicemail Deposit = +447899xxxxxxx
Once you've determined your voicemail number,
dial *61*(voice mail access number)**(time in multiples of 5 seconds)# and then press SEND/DIAL.
For example, if my voicemail access number is +447899111111 and I want it to ring for 30 seconds before being forwarded to voicemail,
I would type: *61*+447899111111**30#
It is my understanding that the maximum time a phone can ring for before being transferred to voicemail is 30 seconds.
I find this information useful because not all phones have the option to set the transfer time built into their settings/interface.
I have this problem.
I have a contact. He has two mobile numbers. I add both numbers to this contact.
I cannot seem to be able to send a message to the secondary number . It just will not show up when I type the "Name" in the to: field when writing a new SMS.
It only displays numbers marked as "Mobile"
The secondary one is marked as "Home"
I have options for: home, company, work, car.. etc, none of them work.
I cannot send a message even from the contacts screen..,,
How do I resolve this???
I just checked. It totally works fine. Send a new sms. put your cursor where you would type the name and press enter. you get the contact list. select contact and number voila.
next time, it is already in your messages.
yes, saved my day, just checked myself, never thought of pressing enter with the "to:" field empty.
still it should have had an option for setting a secondary mobile.... maybe some registry hacking????
I also noticed this barf today. If you type in the beginning of a person's name to the "TO:" field, it autofills it nicely, but automatically assumes the "Mobile Phone" number field will be used and there's NO way to change it.
The alternative way (press ENTER in the empty TO:-field) works, but again is an extra step too far.
The Windows UI guys really need to get their act together (maybe a bit those TF3D guys too). I'd expect this from a designer temp for his summer job, but not in a mass-market v.6 release in 2009!
I always have this problem,
Pressing ENTER works fine I see. I usually started up a new SMS, then went to "Menu > Add Recipient" and then the contact list is openend too ...
I have the same problem with two persons with alike names:
For example:
Tom Vaan
and
Tom Vaander
In the To: field I type Tom and only get the "Tom Vaan", no way to change it to "Tom Vaander"

You can also tap on the "TO:" text.
doesnt matter which ring tone i use thephone only rings for about 10 secs before going to answer phone
can i extend this in any way looked in settings but cant see any thing
I think this has to be done using codes from your provider, for example Vodafone has this procedure:
The code you need is as follows:
**61*121**XX#
Replace XX with the number of seconds you want the phone to ring for, in multiples of 5. Shortest is 05 and longest is 30.
Press send on the phone, and it should respond with the message "Call Divert No Reply" or similar.
Hope this helps.
im on voda phone
tried that and got a parameters are not valid message
You don't need to use the GSM codes (although it will work.) You can do this in the standard Windows Mobile Settings in the personal tab. Personal -> Phone -> Services tab -> Call Forwarding -> ..
Look for 'Forward phone calls only if ... No answer: forward after xxx seconds.
Very handy - thanks

Hey guys,
I've already searched a lot of stuff in this forum and enjoyed your work - amazing
But I've got following problem:
My Voicemail show's ALWAYS that there are new messages. But I have no Voicemail activated and NO Voicemails.
I got the solution for my problem already, it's to change the registry key with the following Reg file:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Messages\vmail\Line1\Unread]
"Count"=dword:00000000
How can I put that into a batch file on Autostart or something?
Because everytime I softreset - it's deleted - and I got the problem again.
The Autostart on WM 6.5 doesn't handle reg files
It would be nice if you give me some tips for this.
Thanks in advance.
chriZ
I take it this issue happens after a hard reset or rom flash, but entering those reg settings makes it go away? Made a cab to enter your registry settings, hope it works for you. Alternatively you can have Sashimi add registry files automatically. If the problem occurs every time you soft reset I don't know the answer, sorry.
Well - it didn't helped , but thanks for your help...
After installing the symbol for Voicemail is already there.
If I change it manual via Mobile Registry Editor it's fixed directly after synchronizing via Active Sync.
Another possible solution could be, to set the reg worth permanently to zero?! Is this possible?
That would solve the whole problem...
I had this problem too and I've fixed it by leaving a voicemail to myself
and delete it right after that. the 'new voicemail' icon disappeared and the problem
is now solved.
But, i do have a voicemail activated so i don't know if this is the right solution for you.
Maybe you should try enter your phone setting :
Setting -> Personal -> Phone, and then tap the 'Services' tab.
Choose "Voice Mail and Text Messages" and tap 'Get Setting'.
Do you see any number associated under 'Voice Mail' ?
If it does, try to delete it.
Thanks for your tip, but the Voicemail is deactivated by provider and I can't turn it on
I know the number of Voicemail too, but if I dial the number, I can just turn on and off the notification SMS if I missed a call.
