[Updated 1/15/08] Pandora Naked 6a ROM - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

NOTHING IS EVER FINAL!!!
Here's my Naked 6 ROM with the following:
Windows Mobile 6 Professional CE OS 5.2.1620 Build 18128.0.4.4
Camera 4.0 build 28276
Arcsoft MMS 4.2.8.1
Internet Sharing
10 Button Black Comm Manager
Comm Manager Vibe Toggle
PreConfig launches SetHSDPA & SetAccousticParameters.
Points to note:
6.0 Does not include the scroll speed increase. See post 168 for the registry changes.
Button 5 is mapped and ready to use / PTT is disabled
The Big Storage versions use Bepe's Big Storage OS.nb/XIP v3.60 and is based on a stripped version of austinsnyc Lite ROM (with permission - thanks dude!) - which was from the original 3.62 AT&T release.
The non big storage roms use the 3.62.3 base OS.nb/XIP.
It does not launch extended ROM or storage card installations, nor does it include a radio, IPL/SPL, splash screens, extended rom, or anything else. JUST THE OS.
Memory Details:
W/Big Storage
Storage Free: 78.7
Program Free: 31.10
(Launcher and poutlook.lnk removed from /Windows/Startup - nothing installed, after reset/fully rebooted and all programs killed)
I would recommend you install the .NET Framework after flashing, as I did not include 2.0 or 3.5 in the base and some programs you install / use may require it to work. See the next post for links / downloads.
Why? I wanted a super stripped and fast base to add my cabs to with a crapload of storage. I don't have the time to keep tweaking my custom rom configuration, so this will give me the most flexibility and performance.

Using KarhU's stats, I put together this build based on performance statistics. It's clean and fast - and should run as fast (if not faster) as the best one's out there.
Here's KarhU's great thread on benchmarking. I've learned a lot from his work - it's an excellent asset for tuning
KarhU's Benchmarking Thread
Note too that I didn't include the .rgu files. Please use the kitchen if you want to use the components / build your own.
Known Issues / Fixes:
None
History
Pandora 5 to 6.0 - for big storage, removed the file OEM_FLASHDRV.DLL
Kitchen 6a to 6b - added scroll speed increase

I sure hope this is the last rev, I gotta get the laundry folded and the house vacuumed before the wife really gets pissed
As long as I didn't re-introduce the PIE issue, I'm pretty solid this is a good setup. Everyone's feedback on 4U went into it. The only outstanding question is the data auto-disconnect, but I don't think that'll warrent a rev at this point.

Minor bug/weird feature - comm manager button is vacant - without a shortcut - is it like this by design?

No cold one for me please - I live at the polar circle - everything here is f'ckin' cold

Time to flash again! I hold out hopes (as always) that you will release a kitchen version??? Please? Pretty please with sugar on top?
As always, great work!!

Testing with 4MB pagepool now, will post the results in new batch of benchmarks later...

you are too fast for me dude
but after cooking my prefered files to it, i really have to say that its really fast!

Just wanted to download Naked 4U and again a new ROM!
Seems to get better and better and better until perfect

Final release posted. I'm gonna go play Halo 3
On that note, anyone have any microsoft points they want to donate? I need that new map pack

Hi mattk_r
First: great job! Again!
Sec: I have a question. I was looking for solution, but I found only not 100% working.
When i try to replay to sms, new window comes a little bit scrolled down - I don's see recipient.
Disabling D-pad navigation is not working. Its making it worse.
So here is my question: Is this behaviour is normal in this Build? If not, is there some reg/hack that can fix it?
Thank You.

This is normal as i know it. It places the cursor at the top of the text field at the top of the screen. I presume it expects that you know who you replied to, and want to see the data entry area.
I imagine there may be some scroll setting that effects where the screen is displayed, but I haven't seen it before.

Sweet - thanks for the kitchen rom - let the cooking begin (que evil laughter!)

Any feedback on audio quality? I noticed that it's pretty loud, but the setacousticparameters seems to run well on initial boot.
I did notice that Audio Manager isn't fully happy with .NETFX 3.5. It runs perfectly with 2.0, and KarhU found there isn't any speed difference between the two. I'd recommend just using 2.0 for now, unless you install an application that was developed in VS2k8 with dependencies to 3.5.
I also noticed that syncing music from Windows Medial Player in XP messed up the audio - kind of like "skipping". Copying the music directly to the SD card and updating the libarary worked perfectly. Because the syncing didn't work before, this is the first time I've ever tried to use WMP. I'm curious if this is a typical behavior of WMP and the WM on the phone. I'll have to do some digging.
Also - the picture of the 3G dialpad in the first post doesn't show the up/down arrows on the smartdialer. I didn't reflash to get the pic - rather just installed the cab - which in this scenario doesn't have the arrows. The actual 3G ROM looks much better and the smartdialer is complete.

Button 3
Noticed Pre-Final 5 & Final 5 button 3 are not mapped to the Communication Manager. Under settings, I'm unable to select Comm Manager from the drop down.
Of course this could be something I've done, since flashing the phone about 10 times in the last 24hrs

"Pre-Final" did have that problem, but the final should not - as it's what's on my phone now. If you can, try a fresh download and see if the solution is fixed.

My variant of LVSW's aku .3 ROM

Here's a tweaked developer version of lvsw's CE 5.2.1413 Build 17913.0.3.0 ROM
note: this ROM is an advanced graft containing XIP components from Hermes, Universal and Wizard WM6 builds and as such is unique to XDA Developers. M$ has not released these components all in one place for Hermes yet. Some confusion has come up surrounding this when Shadowmite noticed that coredll.dll was reporting a different CE build than what was being shown in settings->about. Its no fake. This Rom's Universal base components are reporting CE 5.2.1413 there.
Now to my stuff. I'm an imgfs chef, so I've improved the GUI a bit...
v1.0 of this ROM includes:
Everything in lvsw's base ROM
GLYPHCACHE limt re-optimized at 32,768
Mobile Office 2K7
My ATI Imageon patch cooked in
HTC X-Button v1.5 cooked into the base ROM
Windows Live cooked into the base ROM
4MB Paging File
Big Storage
A2DP optimized for highest Fidelity (A2DP patch is not included).
additional apps: GSFinder+, DotFred's Taskmgr, PHM Regedit, SIPChange, Austinboy's Fieldtest
VoIP optimizatons: dialplan normalized for US calling (default areacode is 262 on 7 digit calls), connect over 3G as well as WiFi enabled
Live Search today plugin is set to use Google and works just fine when spaces are part of the search term
can toggle the phone skin between Video and Non-video modes using lsvw's TweakUI program
There are massive Bluetooth stack improvements in the build. The "Invalid URL" issue when streaming music over 3G has been fixed. And, you really can stream audio from 3G to A2DP while in powersave mode on this ROM.
As always, because its targeted at developers, this version has the Extrom hidden and all customizations are disabled on initial start.
Free storage memory is about 49MB and free program memory is 29MB. Displayed Today screen items have been reduced and re-ordered in this manner (note: the additional plugins are still present, just unchecked in Today settings):
Date
Live Search
Internet Calling
Owner Info
Email messages
Appointments
The installer will also upgrade your splash screens to the "Sun Rising over the earth" HTC theme from page 1. Your Radio, IPL and SPL will remain unchanged. This is a SSPL only installer so you must be connected with ActiveSync. Then, just execute and it'll take about 5 minutes to install. Vista users: be sure to check out this guide for how to make SSPL installers work on your version of Windows.
Download v1.0 now from RapidShare.
High speed download from Chamelion
v1.0 Release Notes (check back here periodically for updates)
Here are the known issues:
when you delete the last note in OneNote it doesn't refresh the list and the note appears to not be deleted until you restart OneNote again.
On the Today screen, X-Box changes the font on SPB weather and SPB Time to Black (only happens if "Enable Today X button" is selected). SPB has posted a fix for SPBWeather here
Unable to add programs to the X-Box exclusive list without reghacks. Fixed! Kudos to vp3G for uncovering the fix. Download the attached cab and be sure to install to your device if asked. This fix will not work if installed to your storage card
However, if you do install the cab, the newly enabled exclusive feature has quirks too: If you actually use this feature by tapping on an app in the Running Programs list, xbutton doesn't restore its icon properly on the today screen. You need to tap start->today to get it to display again.
If only the "Enable the X button to end running programs" option is checked int X-Button, the today screen won't refresh when you change the items unless you SR. The today items work normally if any other combination is selected in the button tab.
My BMW bluetooth handsfree system works great with this version. Very stable and better speaker volume too. Parrot Car Kit owners report varying degrees of success. The Parrot Rhythm 'n Blue system works flawlessly. Nothing yet on Audi handsfree.
Breaking A2DP News!
(Kudos to hardcore on this)
Joint Stereo is properly implemented in this ROM. If your headset supports Joint Stereo, try using lvsw's TweakUI program to set the following values:
JointStereo = 1
CurrentBitPool = 86
MaxBitPool = 86
Jaw dropping audio! Downside is that I get an occasional skip with these settings. YMMV for sure. Try the joint stereo setting first then tweak away at the bitpool settings. Out of the box, this ROM is set to automatically go to 70 if it can.
note: If your headset doesn't support Joint Stereo you won't be able to connect after applying these settings.
RE: 3G streaming in powersave mode.
The only application I've found that can do this so far is GreenSoftware's Freeware GSPlayer. It can also play mp3's in powersave mode.
Pretty fast Sleuth!
I have tried to download but the file has been deleted...
Need to wait a bit I guess!
thanks for re-cooking LSVW!
still uploading: link will be valid in about 15 minutes...
Thanks Sleuth!
upload complete
thank you sir!
Crap... this one's missing the ATI fix.... link deleted, I'll have the fixed ROM up in about 30min...
No problem Sleuth, take your time!
Fixed and tested. Page 1 link restored. I'm outta here....
Any non rapidshare llinks please!!!! Thanks..
HIGH SPEED HTTP MIRROR
thanks for this one!
lvsw and yourself are doing great jobs!
I'll report back soon with my judgement
a complete ROM was made even better..Thank you..
Does this have the cyberon vc and if so can it be uninstalled via the remove programs?
*fingers crossed*
masterful creation refined by the master himself.. good job sleuth
Great job Sleuth!
Typically I'm not one to post silly "Great Job"'s but this one is a great job! Very stable and responsive, with obvious attention to detail.
Extended ROM
Sleuth, I see some extended ROM files, I assume they are yours (?): Windows Live, X-Button, mHub-player, ..
You already included these files in your ROM, why add them to the extended ROM? (I know they aren't automatically installed after a hardreset.)
By the way: love it, seems fast and stabile and much free memory.
Perhaps for the next version also a tweak like HTweakC?
Any way of tidying up the 3G icon?
Have only been able to find the Black Clean Icon Patch but this doesn't seem to work with this release.
Apart from this minor cosmetic niggle, this is a very slick rom.
Well done & thanks Sleuth
Sleuth, great ROM.
I love the VoIP optimized part. By the way, just to share my settings: I use my own Asterisk box to get calls through and I added this rule on the dial-plan:
<!-- Universal rules -->
<rule pattern="(\d+)" dial="sip:\[email protected]$host$" display="\1" transfer="sip:\[email protected]$host$" />
In my phonebook, I have all the number updated as "+<country>-<TEL>". It works fine for normal wireless call with t-mobile and cingular, and the asterisk know what to do with the '+'.

Black Dymond 3.5 vs [faria] htc hermes public test rom.

I know jj said that the latest build for hermes is or started with Build: 17743.0.2.3
And then we have a new build which is also latest build
[faria] CE OS 5.2.1413 Build 17913.0.3.0
Are these two totally different builds for the same hermes?
[faria]
Build 17913.0.3.0
CE OS 5.2.1413
Black Dymond 3.5
Build: 17743.0.2.3
Kernel (CE): 5.1.1238
Tested Both
Well I have tested both ROMs. Black give more memory. Faria seems to be lots faster. I think I like the polish of Faria better. I wish it came a little cleaner with less apps installed. You can't uninstall the preinstalled apps. The speed is much better in Faria. I also find the PIE and Internet Connectivity work much better on Faria. I have used all of the Black version including the CUSTEL's versions. I have found that Black always lacks a little Polish.
Now I am new to using Faria's builds. The polish is there. Internet works great. Memory may be an issue for some folks.
I think I'll stay with Faria for a few days and see how it runs.
i agree with etijburg but black has a much better file explorer, do you not think that is reason enough to stick with black or it there an explorer i can install on faria's rom, i have looked but i cant find any!!! (noob with this phone! appologies)

I did like the file explorer a lot more than the standard file explorer. Black 3.5 is no where near a fast and stable as 3.01. Faria is very very fast. I like the setting auto install he has. That is a very sweet app.
google "Total Commander" for pocket PC - it's a free download, great file explorer program, works fine in WM6.
Tried both back to back and speed difference is very noticable, however without a internet fix for Faria's I'd have to side with dymond 3.5.
Oh and yep Faria's does indeed feel more complete

Graphics index 713 vs 1161 ????
How is this large difference possible... The gap is to big if think!
difference
I always been a fan with the JJ black roms but using faria`s rom I noticed speed difference although its bundled with a lots of customisation and software and I love the finish touch with clear type.
the only problem is the internet connection prob at the moment.
So in fairness its two great rom but I vote for Faria at this time awaiting for the internet fix

Faria didnt include the ATI drivers, I think thats the reason for this difference.
According to the czech website Custels 2.0 is the fastest.......
Hey, for me looks FARIA also faster... will re-test, for me is graphic index in Faria case also strange, because looks very fast!
I must notice, that these benchmark can contain mistakes, because of no exact methodics for it - but it can little bit increase objectivity.
What about similar benchmark thread there on XDev?
stable ram
I know the difference between black and faria is noticeable but I tried custel 2.5 and his rom up to date has got the most stable ram, meaning I could surf on the internet and use live messenger and still have 20 ram available. but with black and faria `s it drops down quickly. so although I love farias rom because of speed and polished there is still a litlle a bit to do as to call this rom perfecto. its really amazing of the talents these chefs have in the kitchen and I believe we are nearer to a finish complete wm6 very soon as these roms barely can get better as what they are now.

Dude! thats because black and faria are smart and they both used active cache, the system cache is set to auto! - it's a good thing when the system uses memory! that means its not readong from the flash drive => faster!

My vote goes to Faria's ROM. It's fast and it looks great! Truly the first ROM that made me say WOW!

Please, can U someone re-test. I was trying it to test FARIA ROM customized by me, but cannot proceed IExplorer because of PIE Plus addon.

I tried the Black Dymond and faria's rom today and am now back to Custals 2.5. Faria's is very fast but has the nternet connectivity problem as the Black Dymond just has too many issues for me.

yeah i loved faria's rom. i had to go back to custel's 2.5 as well. can't have internet down too long. I can test for 4 to 6 hours at a time and then I have to go back to something stable. I know that faria can figure this out I just can't wait that long. I'll test the next version when he realeases.
Erik
I tried Faria's, i did not try Black 3.5 since JJ no longer posts his ROMs on xda. anyway, i love the overall look of Faria's but i had issues with internet connection at first and some major phone issues, when ever i got a phone call and try to answer either the green button or the answer button there was no response at all. I missed 10 phone calls today like this. pissed me off so bad, i am now back to the proven Custel rom, by far the best out there, my 2cents.

Sleuth's New Developer ROM (CE 5.2.1238 Build 17913.0.3.0) is now available!

This new ROM is a custom graft containing the Hermes RTM CE/HAL along with some "best of breed" RTM IMGFS components. It is not an RTM variant however, so it does not suffer from reported RTM ideosyncracies. Instead, I started with my very stable aku .3 lvsw variant, changed out the XIP, refreshed the apps, Improved the BT handsfree profile and added 4GB SDHC support. This ROM therefore contains XIP/imgfs components from Hermes, Trinity, Universal and Wizard WM6 builds. As such, it is quite unique to XDA-Developers. M$ has not released these components all in one place for Hermes.
v1.0 of this ROM includes:
SDHC support: tested with 4GB cards
GLYPHCACHE limt re-optimized at 32,768
Mobile Office 2K7
My ATI Imageon patch cooked in
The New Block style CommManager GUI is enabled
HTC X-Button v1.51 cooked into the base ROM. All major bugs fixed!
Windows Live cooked into the base ROM
4MB Paging File
Big Storage
A2DP optimized for highest Fidelity based on hardcore's research.
additional apps: GSFinder+, DotFred's Taskmgr, PHM Regedit, SIPChange, Austinboy's Fieldtest, Adobe Reader LE, Audio Manager, Streaming Player
Windows Update and QOS removed
VoIP optimizatons: dialplan normalized for US calling (default areacode is 262 on 7 digit calls), connect over 3G as well as WiFi enabled
Live Search today plugin is set to use Google and works just fine when spaces are part of the search term

The RTM bluetooth Handsfree Profile has been cooked into this ROM. This provides the improved Car Kit support reported in RTM releases.
Like any software created by an XDA-Developer, this ROM is free for you to personalize. I'm not in this for the donations (although they're always appreciated ), rather my primary focus is to give you a better Hermes. So, use this base ROM to learn the ROM kitchens then go make your own ExtROM for this to customize Today Screen etc. Simply add a file called preconfig.txt to /windows to enable autoconfig (you'll need to dump a production ROM to unravel the syntax btw ) to run your extrom at cold-reset startup. Because Preconfig.txt has been removed, the base rom has no autoconfig and will go directly to the today screen.
Free storage memory is about 49MB and free program memory is 29MB. Displayed Today screen items have been reduced and re-ordered in this manner (note: the additional plugins are still present, just unchecked in Today settings):
Date
Live Search
Internet Calling
Owner Info

The installer will also upgrade your splash screens to the Gold HTC Innovation theme. Your Radio, IPL and SPL will remain unchanged. However, for best results I recommend running a radio thats at least 1.40. Posters have reported lower battery consumption when listening to 3G streams when running the v1.43 radio. I have not personally verified this yet however.
I'm using OliPro's latest RUU installer in this version and recommend installing using the SSPL option. Vista users: be sure to check out this guide for how to make SSPL installers work on your version of Windows. Or, jcespi2005 reports that with the latest WMDC (v6.1), you can upgrade through CustomRUU normally like in XP. WMDC 6.1 itself can be found here.
note: I run windows XP so YMMV on Mobile Device Center.

"Bling" in this ROM
Sorry, but there are no fancy today themes, catchy colors or spectacular splashes included in this base ROM. All you get is performance and reliability. Bling is a personal expression, so you're free to add your own.
So, what's on your today screen? Post screenshots! Upload themes & post links and I'll put them below.
CUSTEL's black theme (thanks CUSTEL) http://www.tri-syndicate.com/CUSTEL.tsk.zip (just change the name to CUSTEL.tsk after downloading, its not a zip file). I'm actually running this one now because the block style taskmanager looks better with black menu/taskbars.
v1.0 Release Notes (check back here periodically for updates)
X-Button requires the latest versions of SPB Weather/SPb Time to correct the "Black Font" issue. The latest version of SPB Weather is v1.7.0 Build 767 and the latest version of SPB Time is v2.1.5.
The softkey editor settings are initially out of sync with the actual softkeys. Additionally, you must SR after the first time you use it to get your changes to stick. After that, the program works normally.
downloading now....thanks sleuth! cant wait to try it.
Fantastic! I just got my 4GB SD too. But now I too wait for my SDHC reader to come. I wish my ImageMate was compatible, guess its too old.
Did you replace the rilgsm.dll in your rom with an older one to prevent problems with HSDPA download speeds?
@austinsync: Of course.
This is a custom build containing the best components from many devices. The best way to think of this build is to consider it identical to my last ROM but with the following improvements:
SDHC Support (required RTM XIP)
RTM Sap Profile
RTM X-Button, Streaming Media, Audio Manager
RTM CommManager with the new "block style" GUI enabled
In short its everything the AKU .3 ROM was with RTM improvements.

Precisely. This is not an RTM build. Only the XIP and some components are from the RTM release. The base imgfs is from a whole different device
Hi, loading down right now - I´m looking forward to your new rom - sleuth.
Thanks to you and your work and to all you gurus here and your cool board.
Sleuth,
In your modified ROM do "taskmgrres.dll.0409.mui" and "taskmgrCustRes.dll" belong to TaskManager X button or to DotFred's Taskmgr?
X-button.....
This all sounds great Sleuth255!
but sorry that I have to bother you with this question..
"can you also make this rom in a Dutch version?" I got the Dutch files from M$ SDK"..
He keep doing what you do!
Thanks Slueth,
I think i may give this one a whirl - will report back any issues.

Thanks Sleuth - just installed and getting my goodlink up and running again. Looks pretty zippy so far. Had to clean up the 3G icon, but everything I generally run has installed fine.
Quick question. You think running Tweak UI and Shadowmites HTC Custom at the same time is going to cause me grief? I like some of the features in each .. so have both installed, but started to wonder if they would conflict (don't see why they should).
shouldn't be any issues running both tweakers weinson.
Hi, I believe this rom is the latest for Herm200. However I notice the transcriber input is missing.
Anyway to retrieve it?
Thanks guys.
Could you possibly post some screen shots? Thanks.
Initial impressions..
First off, Thanks Sleuth!
Everything has gone smoothly with the rom so far. Download uneventful (thanks for the rapidshare link), flash uneventful, activesync synchronization seems faster than with previous roms. Program installations also fast. Cab file installations ditto. Not sure if its due to recent reformatting of my microSD, but I think the rom is also a factor. Usually I have to tweak the file cache settings to get comparable sd access (they have not been tweaked though). HSPDA works out of the box after I put in my carrier settings. Bluetooth paring had a little bump in that the "x" stayed on in comm manager after pressing the icon initially, but I went ahead to bluetooth settings and was able to pair to my 260 plantronics stereo headset. Sound seems very nice. Will have to use it for awhile to judge skips, etc, but none so far using music player.
Nice rom!
Regards,
Thanks Sleuth,
So far the best, stabile and fast, no issues!

SuperD-Lite! WM6 Optimal Base Rom

Welcome to Dopod Lite (now D-Lite!)
Latest version is SuperD-Lite! (Links at bottom) If you are new to my roms, I suggest you read through this first post and the rest of the thread so you understand where this is coming from.
There are lots of nice roms out there. So, why put out another? Well, everyone's different, and I think there are folks out there who may be looking for this.
Note: For V1.2 and V1.1 changes, see below! I am leaving the links for V1.0 and V1.2 because they work great, and avoids hassle for those who don't want to bother putting in their own Java VM, (V1.1 and 1.2), or want to use this as a base for further cooking. (Won't work in V1.2)
From my own testing and use, the latest stock WM6 Hermes Dopod rom has proven to be the fastest and most stable of the current official WM6 roms. This is supported by the fact that a number of the well known chefs are using it as their base. (Sleuth, Shaps, and some others) I've been running my own version for awhile now, and am very pleased with it: its ability to sleep and play music, its skip-free A2DP, and its speed.
However, it has a moderate amount of bloat, which can be removed to make it better.
I have stripped the following: Transcriber, Windows Live, VOIP, Voice Commander, Autoupdate, Catalog, Error Reporting (though it still shows in Settings), SQM, Ceipui, Calculator, ClearVue pdf reader, Zip, the less-used ring tones, and the standard movie clip. Probably some other things too. I have also compressed some files to gain free storage space.
The result is a fast, stable rom, with a minimum of clutter, which performs all the basic functions very well thank you: Phone, Internet, Java, Office 2007 (without OneNote), GPS, etc. etc. It is ripe for customizing in your own special way. If you want it to become a developer rom, add that stuff. Add custom themes? Go ahead. Add functionality? Ready and waiting. There's plenty of free memory and storage space: 30.06 meg, and 59.51 meg respectively (V1.0, 6mb page pool). I could have added a few meg to program memory by reducing the page pool from 6meg to 4meg, but I chose not to do that in the interest of maximizing stability and functionality.
I have altered the initial customization routine to do only the basics: set hspda, set acoustic parameters, and a few registry settings. It does not access the extended_rom, so you are free to do what you want with that.
You will have to choose your own radio (or leave the one you have). You will likely want a replacement calculator (there are lots of good ones). You may want a voice dial program (take your pick). You will have to add your own carrier settings. (Cabs are around for most of these.) The start up screens you currently have will stay there. This is an OS only flash.
If people have suggestions and links for additional functionality, feel free to post them!
If you have never flashed a rom before, take care to follow the excellent tutorials available before doing it for the first time. Your Hermes device can be ruined otherwise.
I will try to fix bugs, etc. but this rom is best suited for those who can troubleshoot things for themselves. This is a hobby, and I can't guarantee I'll be around everyday to help with issues. However, I really don't expect a lot of problems, and you can look on the Dopod release thread for some help with things as well. (Not to mention the rest of the site!)
See second post for more screen shots (5 pic limit/post), capture screen program NOT included in rom. Memory stats are as above, not as pictured, because I had that program and file explorer loaded and running.
Version 1.0 links, Includes Tao Java 10_1_7_575 built in, 6mb page pool. Time-tested stability and performance.
V1.0 Rapidshare Link
V1.0 Megaupload Link
Version 1.1: Offered with some trepidation, however since Schaps decided to package two alternative Java VM's I thought I'd give people a choice. In this version I have also decreased the page pool to 4mb, which makes me a bit nervous, but seems to be running ok for me. The final memory results are remarkable: Free storage memory is 61.03 mb, and Free program memory is 32.07 mb at cold boot after customizations! See post for further discussion. (Update: I have added a 6mb page pool version for those who have issues with the 4mb version.)
V1.1 4mb PagePool Rapidshare Link
V1.1 6mb PagePool Rapidshare Link
V1.2 Update: In this version I have gone even further, by removing all .rgu files from the V1.1 base. This eliminates about thirty-five file entries in the Windows directory, and frees up about 200K of additional storage memory. For some operations, this should increase rom speed even more than its already "blistering" pace. The downside to this is that it is unsuitable for those who want to use it as a base for their own cooking. (Except for the RomDonald kitchen, which should still work.)
V1.2 4mb Page Pool Rapidshare Link
V1.2 6mb Page Pool Rapidshare Link
SuperD-Lite: Based on V1.2, and incorporating bepe's new technology of melding extended_rom and storage rom, this version boosts available storage memory to 71mb. Be aware that this flash will wipe out your extended_rom partition. If you are coming from another chef's or stock rom, you will have to reload all your apps, etc. If you are upgrading from one of mine, that is still probably safest, but you can check my last post for an optional method.

Solitaire & Bubble Breaker Question
Hello Edhaas,
Thanks so much for this lite version!!
I was wondering if you have the cabs for Solitaire and Bubble Breaker (when you extracted them I was wondering if you kept them). I have searched and am unable to find them. It seems like they should be readily available but I am unable to find complete versions of their cabs.
Thanks again for this version and your time,
vjgrace
thanks for the base.. i wanted one that i could customize according to my needs
Hi,
Thanks I also wanted a lite rom. Just wanted to ask, since u said it's based on the latest official dopod rom, is it exactly the same with just those apps removed? No special tweaking, interpollating of other devices' roms, other imgfs, etc? (like what the other chefs are doing).Just the official dopod rom itself?
Edhass, care to provide some screen shots?
Edhass, you just did what I was contemplating doing last night!
Kudos for removing that ugly calculator with the buttons I can barely hit with my fingers. I never understood why some chefs left in that calculator while they blinged up the today screen and added nice dialpad skins.

Sorry about the games. It was a tough decision. In the end I took them out because I'd already played them to death. The freeware site in the second post has lots of games, including solitaire. There used to be cabs floating around here for the games, but I'm guessing they were pulled for copywrite issues. If I'm in error, it would be great if someone could post links or update. If you want, I could cook up another version with the games, I think they're around 500k together. It may take a few days though. If anyone else wants them, please post your request.

Feedback
drgopoos - you're welcome!
joecruz - It's all dopod. I played around with using another Java, and some other stuff, but for me the original works fine, and is much smaller. I changed some registry settings, and the initflashes, and removed stuff, but no mix and match in this version. Thanks for asking. Edit: I did change the version of mxip_notify.vol so that I could remove ceipui (phone home).
alancstan - I'll work on that. Basically its a standard WM6 looking rom. It boots into the Windows Default theme, but I've included the standard Guava Bubbles and Mobile Green themes. The difference is in the speed, stability, and available storage. You can make it look however you like!
rob.ocelot - Yeah, the calculator was always one of the first things I replaced when I ran a new rom. There's lots of better options out there.
Noticed that Remote Desktop is taken out as well. This actually works out better for me since you can install it to memory card -- more savings.
Any reason you left the sample pictures and dogbark.wav? (these are some of the first things to go when I start a new ROM)
Edit: Also no HTC X-button, which I almost always turn off. It never did mesh well with the way I use my PPC (closing/minimizing things to get to the today screen just to open the task manager).
I'm very impressed with how snappy everything seems to be!

Thanks for the comments! I chose to leave in the pics because they were really small, and I felt like there was some comfort factor involved for those transitioning from a stock rom. (When opening Pictures and Videos, its nice to have something there so you know its working.) I also sometimes use the dogbark for my alarm. (and its also small)
Actually the version 1.0 of x-button is built-in. This version is small, and its only function is to close an app completely if the x (close) is held down for a few moments. There is no today screen option. (Look in system settings, near the bottom, I think its called taskmgr or something. I've overwritten mine with a later version.) I didn't update it because I know there are folks like you who prefer other task managers, and I didn't remove it because for those who like to close their apps and not hide them its a simple solution.
Best wishes,
Many thanks for the Lite Rom, will try and see if working fine with my x01ht with chinese input.

Added screen shots
Well, per request I've added some screenshots to the first and second posts. Please note the screen capture app was added after the flash, and that available memory is larger than shown.
Also, we're around a hundred downloads, and I'm guessing the relative quiet here means everything is working great, and the rom is just boringly reliable and efficient!
Best wishes,
Found this rom very good.
On the subject of a2dp skipping, would brief pausing be called skipping? I have parrot mk6000 hands free carkit. It's bluetooth version is 1.2. I realize that bluetooth version 2.0 is downward compatible, could this have something to do with pausing? or is it a processing bottleneck? or buffersize issue?
Thanks in advance

A2DP troubleshooting seems to be a bit of an art. I can tell you that my Plantronics P260 stereo headset streams beautifully and skip-free while running internet radio, or any of the usual music players with the current settings. If I add another app to the mix, the music will sometimes pause while the other app is busy, then resume. If you are running TomTom while streaming internet radio, you might get pauses. Or, the 1.2 bandwidth could be an issue also in that case.
I did a mini-search and found a posting by pocc that might be helpful for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1406333
Generally though, the current thinking is that usejointstereo should be "1", and all the "bitpool" settings should be deleted for the best sound. See here. Which is the way I set this rom at default. If you do want to tinker with these settings, I suggest using one of the custom tweak apps, or getting a registry editor. Let me know if you need further help.

New Naked - Pandora Naked v7.0 Beta 2 with Big Storage

Here's my Naked 7.0 Beta 2 ROM with the following:
Windows Mobile 6 Professional CE OS 5.2.1948 Build 18548.0.7.0
Camera 4.0 build 28276
Internet Sharing
10 Button Black Comm Manager
Comm Manager Vibe Toggle
PreConfig launches SetHSDPA & SetAccousticParameters.
Points to note:
PIE writes it's temporary internet files, cookies, and history to the storage card by default.
Button 5 is mapped and ready to use / PTT is disabled
Because of how I decompiled / built this rom, it has good and bad points regarding the registry. In /OEM/OEMApps and /OEM/OEMDrivers are the .rgu files. They contain ALL of the registry setting for the entire rom. This is super sweet to tweak and screw with anything you want - but makes searching a bit more. I like it.
This uses RanDomIze's Big Storage OS.nb/XIP v3.62 and is a mix from Schap's 4.31 build - but heavily stripped down. Should you desire to donate for this, please remember to include these folks as well.
It does not launch extended ROM or storage card installations, nor does it include a radio, IPL/SPL, splash screens, extended rom, or anything else. JUST THE OS.
Memory Details(no MMS):
W/Big Storage
Storage Free: 83.17
Program Free: 33.00
(Nothing installed and after reset/fully rebooted and ActiveSync killed)
I would recommend you install the .NET Framework after flashing, as I did not include 2.0 or 3.5 in the base and some programs you install / use may require it to work. See the next post for links / downloads.
Why? I wanted a super stripped and fast base to add my cabs to with a crapload of storage. I don't have the time to keep tweaking my custom rom configuration, so this will give me the most flexibility and performance.

Comments on build:
I removed a bunch of entries from the initflashfiles.dat, including the help icon from startup, and the games folder (will be build on first game install). The initflashfiles.dat is really nice for customizing the shortcuts in the start menu. Also cleared out anything that will go into /Windows/Startup except critical stuff (ie poutlook.lnk and launcher.lnk, plus any unused entries from the OEM/Schaps config)
There is no compression at all - so lots of room for improvement in that regard.
Frigging amazing amount of program memory available. While working with the initial builds - I hit 33+ a few times. Damn shocking.
I kept the .htm files - even though the help icon is removed.
I also removed all but one ringtone, and fixed the registry that referenced the three default ones - without doing so even though the files are gone, the registry still says they're available to use.
Schaps and RanDomIze did a killer job on their respecitve parts. I'm gonna buy them both a beer - please do the same
I learned that the .hv files in the /SYS/Metadata are rebuilt completely from the .rgu contents in the kitchen.
After adding in the MMS files, it went down to 79 meg free, but available program memory stayed in the high 32's.
Once rom has proven to be stable, I'll strip it for a new Pandora Kitchen base.
Damn you are fast...LOL...Thanks bro
I've been using Naked 6 since it came out and it is the best/fastest out there. Can't wait to try Naked 7!!!!!!

I'd love to, but to afford it I'd have to re-up my contract with the big A - and that's something I don't wanna do right now...
Wow, I was just about done building my own version of this same combination...after custimization, have 70MB Store free and 28MB Program free.
And while I dont presume that my rom runs anywhere near as fast as yours does, I agree in your thinking that it screams.
Downloading the kitchen now!
Hey matt,
I love your 'Today' screenshot.
That alone convinced me to download this Bad Boy!
awesome work, i was beginning to wonder if a 0.7.0 build was ever going to grace your kitchen
anyways is it possible that you could extract the entries in this registry
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Color]
since the screenies you posted are the standard wm6 teal color i might as well compare the values that the new kitchen brings to your older 6a kitchen.
for anyone who is somewhat curious they could try adding the attachment to their registry to see if the 6a black theme comes back
. just rename the ext back to reg

You certainly can add the color settings to force the color options on first boot - but the problems is once you change your theme it defaults back to the teal anyway.
Now that I've got this setup with the entire registry in one place, I wanted to dig for a the default settings - where the teal color values are kept. That way I can make the default any color we want - and one less thing to change after flashing
looks great!! thanks again for your great work. im running naked 6 now but will be updating to 7 today and will report back!
quick question and this maybe a little retarded. i see that you removed the startup animation dll. does this mean that i cant just place a gif file in the windows directory and enable the startup animation anymore. i have few cabs that i use for the startup animation. just checking.
also could be a dumb question but what's the diff b/w the 7.0 kitchen and the 7.0 3G kitchen?
MMS?

Nice find - I'll put that in the next build!
Regarding the difference between kitchen versions - the 3G has the video dialer and (supposed to) be mapped for TyTn keyboard layout. Both need fixed though.
