playing m4a media files

I recently had a windows mobile 5 phone with a default tuma 1.3 installation, which happily played m4a music files on windows media player.
I now have the same phone running a standard orange uk installation of mobile 2003, running media player 10, but it no longer plays these files.
Does anyone know why? If so does anyone know how i can play these files again on 2003?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
m4a is actually AAC encoded audio. Look for a player that supports AAC format.
pocket music or pocket player can play it,try it
or just install the cab I posted a few times already
Mi_MediaSupportv2.CAB
so that WMP10 can play it as well... it's mono only though..

Core Player issues in WM6

I have Core Player 1.0.4, and on WM5 I could get it to play all video formats including WMV. Now that I've upgraded to WM6 (vp3G version 3.0), it won't play WMV files (says something about a windows media 9 codec). I also don't see an option to check WMV files in the preferences anymore as well.
Has anyone else had this issue and is there a fix? I like Core Player a lot better than Windows Media player since it's so clunky to access files and doesn't play everything like Core does, and would like to get it working optimally again.
Thanks.

As far as I know that version has problems. Try v1.1.0 it works like charm on my TyTN.
Cheers

I found Core Player 1.1 and it doesn't play Window Media Video files either. It's a pain to use 2 different media players now. Anyone know when the next version of Core Player will be out?
To play WMV files with CorePlayer, pop the attached DLLs in the same folder as CorePlayer.exe - works for me!
Not it does not work for me!

I used to install that version (1.xx) and I have the same issue, but after going back to 0.81, most of media files can be played on it.
Both Core player and Sompy crash every time I try to open them. WMP10 plays well. Any thoughts on what may be the problem?

Rom's That Play Videos

Which WM6 roms play streaming videos?? thanks for the help!!!
like all the roms??
they all come with streaming media player..... dont they?
Not all ROMs do have HTC Stream Media inside, like ultra lite ROMs.
I don't know a working cab for Hermes. Streaming Media cabs are here a lot, but not a single one is working. (95% closing bug)
So if you need Streaming Media you need to install a full ROM of your desire.
As soon as I load a ROM, first thing I do before installing or tweaking a ROM is test youtube's mobile site to test if the ROM plays streaming media from the start with no tweaking or fixes....
The only ROMs as of late I find that streams well with youtube are Schap's ROMs (3.54-3.60).
I've tried the latest batch of .1921 WM6 roms and none of them seemed to work with youtube.
I tried VP3G latest and it tried to use RealPlayer to stream but no success.
I haven't had much luck with any lite roms either...
Try searching for flash video bundler cab and tcpmp cab. Works with my herm100 with full youtube... not mobile.
Sweet! thanks for the help

Windows Player

anyone get problems on wm6 with wmp? i flashed wm5 and used wmp and videos streamed fine, flash ANY wm6 and its all jerky and slow?? so i just use core player now.... just wondering

Which version of TCPMP do you use?

Hello guys,
Just a survey on which version of TCPMP you guys use for your device. Was trying different different versions and builts to see which one runs best. For starters, I used "TCPMP-0.72RC1-ARM-PPC-SUBTITLES-iriki-repack01.cab" which ran really smooth with SRT subs on a couple of roms (6.1 as well as 6.5) that I've tried. The downside is that I couldn't get it to play flv, and its not accepting the flv plugins I've put in.
Next, I tried the TCPMP 2009 Phenom Edition. Its plays avi with srt subs as well but its not as fast as iriki's repack, even when I use GDI. Frames were skipped and the audio doesn't seem to go along with the video. Again, it didn't play the flv videos I've downloaded from youtube.
I know this doesn't answer your question - but why on earth more people don't simply use Media Player I'll never know - I have used mp4's and the like with Media Player and they have played VERY well. Used TCMP before and not been impressed.

I was going to London over the weekend, and had just downloaded a couple of programmes that I watch on a weekly basis. I download AVI files, and normally bung them on a USB stick and watch them via my PS3. In this case, I simply copied them to the memory card in my HD and watched them on the train. Basically, it meant that I didn't have to convert the files in order to watch them with WM Player.
It plays more formats than WM Player, and is more configurable. It's not a knock to WM Player. It just does more.
Also, in fairness, TCPMP doesn't play WMV files well at all. You get about 1 frame every 3 seconds. I obviously use WM Player for them.
@Abubakar
I've not tried playing FLV files with TCPMP, but for youtube stuff I want to keep, I use www.keepvid.com, and download MP4s. I use v0.61 and don't have any issues with it at all - works a treat.
