I have been playing around with Antha's and BlueFire's VPN clients recently and have encountered a bug/annoyance that is common to both. After either of the clients are installed, anytime that I do a soft reset wifi turns on immediately during boot. The problem is that the wifi cannot find any signals for at least 5+ minutes. It just sits there. Even if I cycle the power on wifi, it cannot find anything. After 5-10 minutes, it suddenly acts like all signals turned on and can connect to everything. After I uninstall, everything returns to normal and wifi is not activated on boot up.
I was wondering if anyone knew why wifi is activated on boot up now due to the vpn client install, and if there is a way to stop it. Also, any ideas of why it would be unable to find any signal at first?
Im running schaps 3.60a, and have also seen this happen on schaps 4.01. If you have encountered this also please post!!
I have also experienced behavior similar to this on Schaps 4.01 using various VPN clients, Bluefire and AnthaVpn included. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Greetings everyone. I've had a T-Mobile Dash (the black one) for quite a while now, but since I got it has a really weird problem with the WIFI. When I turn on the WIFI it searches the connections flawlessly, I can put the key on any connection or enter freely when is open. But then it says connecting and a few seconds later it says connections available again, as if it tried to connect and could not. This happens with ALL connections, unsecured, WEP, ect. I had installed every cooked rom available and also installed the stock one to see if it works, but alas, nothing works. Does anyone has any tips or tricks on how to get the WIFI working?

Have you considered that probably the router your phone is searching has a problem? or you tried in other location and still the same problem?

Thanks for the suggestion, but yeah, I already did that. I have tried connection in many routers and in all happen the same thing. It is a really weird problem and searching through the 3VO thread I saw somebody had the same problem but no answer. I am ready to just accept that my Dash is WIFI less forever. I have tried everything. But thanks anyway
Hi,
can anyone please help me? I recently downloaded and used JuiceDefender on my Desire. I configured a setting that allows the phone to learn what are the Wifi networks that I like to connect to, based on location. I soon noticed that the phone randomely reboots so I uninstalled this application. Well, I completely lost control of my Wifi connection. Even if I turn it off in Android settings, the Wifi just starts by itself and starts scanning for networks, which completely drains my battery. I installed the application again and reversed the location wifi setting but it did not help.
I also did a backup then wiped up my phone, but the Wifi still starts by itself. Is there any solution to this?
Thank you!
hi,

and the did you restore your backup?? if so i woulfd advice to clear data juice defendre and maybe mail to dev'app
thank you for your answer.
First I uninstalled juicedefender. after seeing that wifi still gets connected, i backed up, i wiped all data on the phone and restored the back up, but without juicedefender (it was not included in the backup). As for the email to the developers, I did that, but I got a response like that: "I don;t think this is possible. Please install our beta application and enjoy." How helpful of them!
Some suggestions
I would be surprised if any app could reboot the phone, even if it crashed.
Do you use tasker or locale? They can start up the wifi.
You could try org.wahtod.wififixer
You could also use something like com.mapeapps.networkcounter to check what is using the wifi. You'll have to reboot after installing it to reset the counters, but then, if it locks on to a wifi straight away, you could see what's using the connection, and maybe work out what's starting it up?
Thank you, I will try what you said. Sometimes the Wifi is just starting, but sometimes it also starts when I open any application that requires an internet connection, even if my data connection is already on. I will come back to report on what you suggested. Thanks again!
I forgot to say that I am not using a tasker. I do have enabled the location services based on network, but I have always had that before, and if the wifi was disconnected in the android settings, then it stayed off. Now it just won;t stay off. The thing is that I don;'t even need wifi, I have a good data plan. But the damn wifi just starts by itself, scanning for networks all the time, draining my battery and interrupting my regular data connection. I am so frustrated! I never had problems with my Desire for one year, and now, after installing this JuideDefender, problems are coming in.
Ok there are a couple of things:
a) If your Wifi is still broken after you uninstalled JD it is most likely not JD who was / is the culprit. You even wiped, so how should JD do this?
b) JD does not turn Wifi back on when you manually turn it off (I am not 100% sure what happens during the training phase, while JD learns you Wifi-Locations, because in these 1-3 days JD might turn Wifi on in "random" locations to enhance the algorithm)
What does the log in JD say (anything about turning Wifi on?)?
Hello,
the JD log says: WIFI turned on by user.
Which of course I have not done. I think my phone is haunted. Leaving JD aside (even if this problem started only after I started to use JD), the problem still exists: my phone turns its WIFI connection by itself, even if I don't want that!
I have searched for this issue and there are TONNES of threads about it and a lot of proposed solutions but none of them work for me. I have been using this HTC Incredible for some three months now and have gone through various ROM's including some Sense based, CM7, a couple ICS ROM's and MIUI. But every one of them gives me this problem with the wifi at work. The phones finds the network, connects to it, authenticates and then gets stuck at Obtaining IP Address... and then repeats the cycle.
I used to have an iPhone that worked well with the same wifi spot. My friend's Nexus running ICS connects just fine. But my phone exhibits this problem with this wifi spot and a bunch other public spots it has connected to before.
From reading various threads, it happens when Android remembers the last IP address it got at this spot and tries to assign itself that but fails. It does not learn to ask for a new one. Which is verified by the fact that assigning a static IP, then going back to dynamic IP address makes it refresh the IP request and work for a little bit. Then it goes to sleep and the same agonizing cycle starts again.
Is it because of the hardware? Is it because of the Kernel? Does anyone have a clue?
I have tried Wifi Fixer app and that didn't help. Another person has listed three other apps and how those did not work for him (so I didn't even try them).
At this point, this issue is so frustrating for me. Can anyone recommend some more ideas for me to try? Different ROM's, different kernels? Anyone? ANY one?
This happens to me intermittently when I come home. Multiple ROMs and kernels, no rhyme or reason. When I notice it, I restart the phone and have to turn WiFi back on. Then it works fine for a day or longer. I wonder if it's a bug that's triggered by background processes.
I came across this possible fix while searching for something else. Wifi Won't Connect
Also, I would not be so quick to write off those other apps you mentioned, it is very possible that the person who said they did not work had something different that was causing the Wifi to not connect/obtain IP.
Thanks guys. I have installed a new Kernel and will try it as well as the above suggestions in the next couple of days and report back. Here are the suggestions made so far:
1. Turn wifi off. Restart the phone and turn wifi on.
2. wpa_supplicant renaming
3. Other wifi fixing apps.

Have you tried forgeting the network in the wifi settings menu and then try connecting again?
Yes, I have tried forgetting and starting from scratch again. And with the new Kernel, it just doesn't connect at all. Gets stuck in the Getting IP address loop even for the very first time. I tried #1 but that didn't do anything. I cannot rename the wpa_supplicant because I don't have the USB cable with me and the ROM doesn't let me access the internal storage in ES Explorer. And since I can't get on the wifi, I can't try the other wifi fixing apps (#3).
Hopefully I word this right so i can clearly describe my issue. About a week ago I had a glitch with a custom ROM (I am rooted and S-OFF). Before the glitch I had zero issues, data worked created, WIFI worked great, handoff between the two seemed flawless. This is where i am at now.
After taking an absurdly long time to actually be able to wipe and reload a ROM, the issue started. Run just WIFI, no problem, run just Mobile Data no problem, but once I connect to a WIFI ( have tried several WIFI connections and hotspots) this occurs. Approximately everry 5-10 minutes you can see the data connection momentarily drop then reconnect, giving me 3 notification sounds. Annoying to say the least. Doesn't affect the performance of the device but you can see how annoying that would be. I'm gone through all of the settings I can think of in Dev and in settings and can't figure out why it keeps doing this. I was originally told to try a radio but data is perfect if no WIFI present on the device so I would rather not flash and wipe if I can help it.. I know the simple fix would be to disable mobile data at home but that doesn't cut it I would like it to be on as it normally would be. AS a note I have tried full wipes and several ROMS they all present the same issue.
If anyone understands and can help, and you need a logcat I will gladly provide one.
Celtyc

Hi everyone, I'd really appreciate any help anyone could give me in solving this problem...
I upgraded to MM a few weeks ago and at first had some odd WiFi issues where the phone would not connect, or stay connected very long. After about half a day of tearing my hair out, clearing my cache, and reinstalling apps it all seemed to "come good", and had been ok for a few weeks.
A few days ago, however, everything went bad again. Here is what is happening:
On my 2.4Ghz wifi network, when the phone is woken up using the power button or double tap, WiFi does not work. The phone reports that it is connected to WiFi, and (according to the Ping Tools app) has an IP address, but there is no connectivity to the outside world (or even to my router or NAS box). After about a minute or so, the connection magically "comes good" again, and the WiFi works normally. This is very frustrating as while the phone is asleep it has no IP connectivity so I don't get any notifications for email/messages etc. I have the default "yes" setting for the "Keep Wi-Fi on when screen is off" option BTW.
I have discovered that if I switch to the 5Ghz WiFi network on my router then I do not get this behaviour - the WiFi stays connected while the phone is asleep and there's not the same period of no connectivity when it wakes up. Unfortunately the 5Ghz network doesn't reach to the front of my house so this isn't a viable solution.
I have also found that the odd behaviour does not occur if I disable Bluetooth on the phone. Since I use Bluetooth audio in my car, it's a bit of a pain to disable/re-enable it but it's the workaround that I'm currently using.
The strange behaviour does not occur if I reboot the phone into Safe Mode... the WiFi stays connected while the phone is asleep, and 2.4Ghz WiFi works straight away when the phone is woken up. This seems to indicate that an app might be the culprit.
To try and diagnose this I have
- cleared the cache and rebooted a number of times, to no avail
- done a factory reset and reinstalled my apps from Google Play, but end up in the same (broken) state
- changed the default channel for 2.4Ghz WiFi on my router several times
So I'm at my wits end now. I guess I could do another factory reset and reinstall my apps manually, one by one, and see which one (if any) breaks things. But I'd like to to try and avoid this. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to determine what could be causing the problem?
Phone is an H815 running Android 6.0, V20a-EUR-XX. Totally stock, locked bootloader.
Sorry for the lengthy post.
I have approximately the same thing. Switching Bluetooth doesn't help in my case. I had to wipe cache from within the phone to make it get better again.
One other thing was to throw away my aluminium bumper. Do you maybe have one ?

Oh, I got excited at your case suggestion as I got a new case a couple of weeks ago which does have an aluminium bumper. But I just took the case off and alas the problem remains.
Unfortunately clearing the cache doesn't work for me. I also found a setting under Backup and Reset to reset network options but this didn't help either.
Next step might be to reinstall the OS or try the repair option in LG Bridge. Unless anyone else has a better idea?

Tihs issu not MM specific exist on LP
Try another chanel (In router)and use only N 2.4 Ghz
But is see you try..
Go and use warranty.!!!
I think I've fixed it. I just started uninstalling apps and checking to see if the behaviour persisted after uninstalling each one. After uninstalling TuneIn Radio the WiFi started working with Bluetooth enabled again. I reinstalled all the apps that I uninstalled (including TuneIn) and everything seems to be working again. I doubt it had anything to do with TuneIn - just a weird interaction of who knows what. It's not terribly satisfying and I suspect it will happen again, but hopefully this thread will help someone who might have the same problem.
