I've purchased O2 XDA Zinc in Arabian. I'm living in Russia now.
When I open the box, get the PDA and turn them on I've got screen like this:
mars II eboot ver......
h/w version v1.4
******** usb loader ***********
diskonchip g4 128mb
start downloading image...
please plug-in usb cable...
And that's all... Now I can't go to Arabian to change my PDA and there is no service center that can fix it in Russia
I tried soft and hard reset and no effect.
When I connect PDA to PC the new hardware "Asus USB sync" appear in system, but Active Sync does not recognise them (I have 4.5 version).
All o2 zinc upgrade software are working with active sync and available os and i can't use them.
I've extracted binary filles from update exe, larger of it i've rename to MarsII_G4.ABI and put it on SD. But after insterting card and restarting nothing happens.
I also have some knowledge of elelectronic.
So, please help, how can I fix my PDA?

find another ppc first
find a dos app and rename it to devicespy.exe and make it readonly
transfer it to windows directory of other ppc and plug it to pc via mini usb and activesync 4.5
download and run any zinc rom from seeo2
if you did it well the upgrade software cant recognize the device type so continue update progres until your ppc get reset.
replace that ppc with your zinc and update will continue to end and your zinc will be fin.
choose any lang you wish.
You'd better visit www.seeO2.com
and register with your IMEI.
Then you can download WM5 or WM6 official rom.

i do really need help for reviving my dead o2 zinc.
it is suddenly dead wen connected to notebook via activesync.
yes.. it is SUDDENLY DEAD.
i'm doing nothing.
i have been trying to entering bootloader (by pressing right d-pad plus soft reset), but the bootloader doesn't show up.
doing hard reset, but nothing happen. still dead.
one thing that works is...
there is blinking orange LED when i connected zinc with wall charger (without battery inserted)
and there is orange LED (showing up about 3-5 secs) when i connected zinc with wall charger (with battery inserted)
anyone can help me solving this?
how bout using mtty?

I just started with the ROM upgrade of my I-mate Pocket PC to 1.72.00wwe (obtained from the I-mate website) when my phone switched off. Now it only has (at the top) "Serial" and (at the bottom) "v1.06". No matter what I do - soft or hard reset nothing happens, obviously the power button also doesn't function. On my PC desktop I got the message that I need to reset my phone and re-connect.... can't get my phone going, so here I am.
The solution to my problem is (hopefully) simple ? I will really appreciate if you could help me with this ?
not a problem hopefully....u just made HimaClearJumpCode.exe run on ur device(this file exists in ur upgrade folder),and now ur stuck in the bootloader mode....
do the following:
1-hard reset ur device(it wont boot,off course)...
2-put it in the cradle,u should see that ur XP has found a new hardware(if it doesn't,change the USB port)
3-now run the himaupgradeUt.exe.
Now in case(just in case),those procedures didn't work,go to plan B.. :wink:
1-take the battery off ur Himalaya.
2-leave ur device for 12hours(it won't need all that time,but to be on the safe side,u know... :wink: ) without battery,so that backup battery drains...
3-put back the battery,recharge and enter the OS(this option wont work if u have erased the ROM)
4-rerun the upgrade...

OK, what happens if the ROM is erased.... (judging by the fact that nothing happens when I put it in the cradle - with power on the cradle) ?
My phone was off for about 12-hours - blank screen when I got here this morning.
If I put it in the cradle (and after changing between all the available USB ports on my PC) the PC doesn't detect it - ActiveSync doesn't connect to the phone at all... Note : I have power on the cradle, and it's been a hour now - still just "USB" "v1.06" (or "Serial" if I take it out of the cradle).

since ur serial on the top of ur screen changes to USB when u put it in cradle,then it's connected.... :wink:
now just run the HimaUpgradeUt.exe in the folder that contains the NK.nbf file(32MB,it's the ROM),and it should start the upgrade....
be sure the NK.nbf is a Himalaya ROM....

Himalaya pocket pc - screen frozen on bootloader

My problem is the same - but the difference is that whenever i run the himaupgradeut i get a connection error saying that the PC cannot identify the cradle as connected.
What should I do now?
could anyone help me out of a mess please , i have recently purchased an mda3 to replace my xda2 , i unlocked the phone which went ok but wouldnt accept my o2 sim , being the same phone as the xda2s i thought maybe it would need the o2 windows version rom on , i selected the wrong rom from my pc and the upgrade stopped after a few seconds stating it was the wrong version but now the phone has no rom on at all just a dark screen with "serial" or "usb" if it is docked . Have i done permanent damage ? any help would be very much appreciated
Your phone is currently in bootloader mode - if you have a valid ROM for your device you should be able to flash it with the phone in the USB cradle (the dark screen should change to USB).
If you don't have a valid ROM, go check out the wiki, there's plenty to choose from there!

sorry to be a pain forza but unsure which files on the ftp to use , doesnt have to be the latest rom i just need it to work again , could you also tell me how to execute the files , do they load from the desktop , many thanks bren the amatuer
This page on the wiki lists the available original ROM packages;

The T-Mobile UK one (1.42) is the latest version ROM (3rd on the list), so I'd recommend you start with that (it's the one I use).
[EDIT] just noticed you're showing as being on O2, further down the list (almost at the bottom of the first section) there's a UK O2 ROM - that may be better for you.
With the phone docked in the cradle (with USB showing on the screen), you can just the run the exe you downloaded and it should flash it for you.

I have the same problem with my qtek 9090, but I dont can sync my pocket pc. I see only USB V2.06 if the pocket is full charged ( and serial if not on the crable connected ).
Why I can not sync this with my laptop??

what pc system r u using? What version activesync, what exactly happens (or doesnt), which rom/language, did u cid unlock it (used uspl), etc.
Be more specific please.

hello again.thanks for the responce. my p3300 has the official wm5. i load the
wm06 (not official) one of the programs that i use in my job dosn't work propertly. so i have to restore in previus wm5. i download fro the site of htc the official wm6. in htc they told me that it is very easy so i could do it my self. i had only to conect the usb cable to the pc (windows xp) and run the file (wm6) i did it but when it start to install the wm6 the activesyng (ver 4.5.0) shut off and stoped the instalation. the screen turn to black. after that the p3300 started again but when i push the voice key and the power key to get in to the bootloader it doesnt work the screen becams to a multi color pixel.the htc told me that i have to replace all the inside hardware. thats all thanks a lot .

Ok, let me see if i understand u correctly, your specs give me no new questions they look ok. U have WM5 and want to run a program (from your work) which needs WM6 (wont run on WM5). HTC told you about the official WM6 update. This wont flash as activesync crashes, right?
With an official Rom you will not need to unlock the CID/SPL with USPL. But this goes only when you stick to your current language. i.e. a german WM5 is not allowed to be flashed into english. To do this you will need to USPL-unlock it 1st.
If the language is the same, it should work. Best is to do a hard reset 1st (2 soft buttons and soft reset, wait and press green/send.) Afterwards hook it on the PC (activesync want to start a newe partnership, click cancel, so u will be connected as guest).
Start the rom upgrade. Activesync should close and bootloader on the ppc will be started. This is a screen with many colours/stripes, which is normal but looks very bad and different from normal bootup.
Then the flashing will start, the screen on the ppc will turn white/grey and a scale will show you the percentage of the flashingprocess (similar to the screen of the pc). Wait patentiently and do not toch the ppc or disconnect (or expect a bricked device).
At the end, the ppc will reboot and take a while (longer then normal bootup) to initiate the boot for the 1st time.
If this wont work, then try to extract the upload file, put the ppc in boatloader mode, connect to pc and start the romupdateutility.exe directly.

i've flashed my HTC P3300 and it was done successfully (using USPL) but the language was Spanish, i searched a lot how to change it to english since i dont understand a word of it.
through one of the forums, i was told to set the SysLang = 1032 in registry to get the english language, i done so, now, the phone is stuck in Welcome (WM6.1) screen and nothing is happening, not even responding to power key.
I tried hard reset, it doesn't work, i tried entering to bootloader, it also doesn't work, also, i am not able to connect it to PC since i guess its not completed up.
Just got stuck with a brick, can you help please. Really needed!!!!!!

Maybe flashing ROM from memory card may help. Search Artemis wiki for micro card ROM flashing.

I connect my qtek with pc. I tried to install wwe rom - from german to english. I ws downloaded english rom but cant install coz i have problem with COUNTRY ERROR -ERROR 120 atfer that i install in qtek "MaUpgradeUt_noID".exe and after that my qtek go to hell.
when i done hard reset on the screen write only: Serial and v1.00!!!!
..............qtek is dead...................

Try to download "Exit Bootloader.exe" from wiki, conect the uni to USB and Run the applcation...
If you uni is death when the Bootloader is lost. I brick my Jasjar when the Bootloader was gone, dont worry Try to read more in the forum Universal WM6.

if you have the rom try tis out!
1.unzip the file!
2.put the rom-extended rom-radio(or whatever you need!) in this folder
3.when you'll connect the phone on the usb,on the screen you have to see "usb v1.01".
4.run the "MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe"
5.wait till it will finish flashing!!
6.enjoy the new rom!!

please big help / i just try to change language on my qtek 9000 and when the phone finish. and the screen freeze. and i off it and on it .and still the display show but freezing. and it can't connect to the active sync and pc /please help
Try a soft-reset first.
If not, you may have to hard-reset. You will lose all your data and programs you've installed and it will revert to factory state (or last flashed ROM).
