German characters don't work anymore - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hello,
can anybody help me with my problem: the German special characters ü, ä, ö, which are used pretty often, do not work on my TYTN II (VPA compact V) anymore.
Normally, if you write an a, you just have to press Fn and then the space-bar, and the a will turn into an ä. But unfortunately, this function doesn't work anymore.
Can you please help me because these characters are important for messaging.
Thanks a lot in advance

got it
ok i figured it out by myself. sorry for the extra post.
for anybody else having similar problems:
with these settings in the registry the problem was solved:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409]
"Ime File"="compime.dll"
"Layout Text"="COMP IME"

Looking for T9 input cab (PhonePad)

I do a lot of texting , and the tiny little keyboard just aint as easy to use with my fingers with one hand.
My Artemis didnt have a Keypad , or T-9 input keypad, only had the keyboard, block recognizer, transcriber, & letter recognizer.
My old S200/Jamin had the Keypad dialer , made texting so much easier.
Anyone know where I can located a cab file for T-9 input??
Thanks in advance
Just copy over the cab file in your my documents folder and Launch, you should reboot the Artemis.
This one is international, so with different languages on board.
Greetings
Anyone who have the Norwegian langugae for T9 with PhonePad?

Anyone who can help me to get the norwegian file into the program?
Hi Guy,
I have downloaded the file .ab and followed the instructions, but I do not find nobody icon in the device. someone can help me? thanks
German language does not work. I can select it, but when writing SMS it recognizes/proposes only English words. Any solution for this?
regards

Try a soft reset after choosing GERMAN language.
After that, my Phonepad writes T9 in german.

Where do I copy this dll ?? I dont have any map called dictionary.
My P3300 doesnt have transcriber, I only have keyboard. And now I've got phone pad.
How do I install transcriber??
Phone Pad WWE version
I have altered the cab and removed all the languages except for english leading to a smaller install - saving you 0.6 Mb
Does anyone else find that the Phonepad locks up sometimes (possibly due to lack of memory), leading to the inability to change SIPs, and the necessity to perform a soft-reset?

I'm referring to my Blue Angel, but it's the Phonepad taken from the O2 Mini (it may not be the version that's been included with this post if it's a newer one for a WM5 device...).
I'm wondering how memory works for SIP input anyway, because sometimes when I have heaps of free memory, and I use PenPower, it won't change to another SIP (eg. Null Keyboard, which doens't use much memory). Is SIP memory specially allocated?

The version posted is 1.0 (Build 22364)
Maybe its your null keyboard thats causing the problems - i recall when i used it - it was a bit glitchy.
It's definitely not the Null Keyboard, which I've never had a problem with, as the problems occurred even before I installed the Null Keyboard.
The version I'm referring to is also 1.0, but build 18526. (I don't know why they don't increase the version number like every other software vendor).
I'll try the version posted, and see whether I continue to experience problems (that is if it works on PPC2003....)
Works on PPC 2003SE
Well.... so far so good. At least it works on PPC2003SE - many things these days seem only to work on WM5! Thanks for making this available.
Wrote too soon! It's already locked up on me. Managed to lock the whole device this time, though, rather than just the SIP. I had to do a soft reset. (I'm wondering whether it's a combination of using PenPower and the PhonePad together).
Anyone know where in the Windows Mobile 5 filestructure T9NorwegianLdb.dll resides?
The Phone Pad - International.CAB.zip seem to work fine on the HTC P-3300.
Just point and hold on the small up arrow on the right side of the keyboard icon when you write an SMS to choose it.
Norwegian is not included in the file posted in this thread however.
I guess we need to install the T9NorwegianLdb.dll for that. Anyone know where to copy it? I am unable to find the phone pad directory in WM5.

Changing the keyboard layout

Hi everyone!
Many people out there from all over the world have upgraded their Artemis to Windows Mobile 6, thanks to people who are working hard on cooking nice ROMs for us. These people are used to a specific keyboard layout, many languages are using special characters too.
It would be nice to have a way to change the keyboard layout : something like easy installing CABs or a how to on what to change in the registry, what to remove on the storage, or whatever way to have our own keyboard on theses WWE ROMs.
Is it possible?
vive le france
Hi Romano2k,
The only thing that i have found was this regkey:
http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Windows_Mobile_5_Registry_Tweaks
But afaik does this regkey only work for the 'hard-keyboard' and not for the software-keyboard, so this answer won't help you a lot...
On my P3300 nothing changed with these keys and nothing happend when i changed the keys in 'HKCU\Keyboard Layout' In another forum i found a thread and they are saying you need a third-party software to change the software-keyboard...but for me it's no problem to use the english keyboard...but french keyboards are much stranger (i think french keyboard are the strangest keyboards that exists) and so i can understand your problem
Cheers
Peter
Love your reply's title
I agree with you, the french keyboard is strange, I wish they were only DVORAK keyboards all over the world! But I need my "é" "à" and so on... I'm sure there's a way to change the software keyboard!
Vive LA France
As far as I know it's a dll file that you would have to change. Never tried in WM6 to replace it, in WM 2003 it wasn't possible. Resco Keyboard would be an alternative if you don't want to try to change the layout yourself.
ups...
My french isn't that well....long time ago since school
I found a cab for the german keyboard, maybe you will find out more when you take a look inside this cab ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321236
Found French Keyboard ?
Heya,

And for us in Greece?
Hi all,
Is there any way to change the keybord to contain Greek characters???

smart dial supporting special caracters

hi there,
i have spent three nights without luck searching for a solution the following problem:
is it possible that smart dial treats special characters like the german umlaute (Ä, Ö, Ü) as their corresponding base characters?
example: i want to call "MÜLLER", which is the last name.
i would start keying in: 6 (m) 8 (u)
and unfortunately müller could not be found.
i do not want to slide out the keyboard and use that one (this would not work either), i was hoping that i could search contacts with the dial pad.
the easiest way would be to force smart dial to treat an Ü as a U.
any ideas?

Write to Jimm98y
yeah, that's it.
thnx mate!
btw. that fix works already for german umlauts if others are reading this

Which S620 Version?
I'm not sure which S620 version I have -- it is European and has the QWERTY layout, with the symbols for the British Pound, US Dollar, and Euro on the J, K, and L keys respectively.
I have the latest KAVANA WM6.1 ROM installed (GREAT!). However, I believe I mistakenly installed the US English Dash key map, which works great for the letters a-z, but some of the symbols do not match the keys (FN-Q is % instead of !, FN-N is & instead of @, etc.). I'm guessing this is a UK English keyboard, since I bought this S620 from eBay and it has a 220V charger. Anyway, any ideas how I get the map to match all the symbols on my keyboard?
I've done quite a bit of searching different threads on this forum but have not so far been able to find the answer.

It looks to be a UK or British keyboard. The British pounds symbol is on one of the keys. That's a sure sign that it's not a US keyboard.
Any uk keyboard mapping support
hey all, is there a uk keyboard mapping cab file yet?
Check in your \Start Menu\My Tools\Extras
do you have a file called "Excalibur eT9 Changer" if you do....click on it and choose the respective layout you need.
You can pick from:
UK Excalibur KeyMap
USA Excalibur KeyMap
Spanish Excalibur KeyMap
Portuguese Excalibur KeyMap
German Excalibur KeyMap
Italian Excalibur KeyMap
If not i can upload the the files needed.

Which Rom are you using??
Key mapp works
i installed the full mapping cab and all is good now. Also, i have no 'my tools' in the start menu. i installed the kavana 6.1 rom.
When I do a long press-and-hold on the period and comma keys, I don't get a semi-colon or colon... just a period or comma. But when I do alt-period or alt-comma, then I do get the semi-colon and colon. I think these are the only keys this happens on, at least that I've seen so far. Anyone else?
Yes, it's a fairly common thing with the new ROMs. Neither of the t9 fixes will help you with it.
thanks guys worked like a charm

Can I change the language in the hardware keyboard?

I have an english device and I would like to know if there is any possibility to type in greek.
the same problem with me! and a question is: is there anybody, who can help to surfice russian cirilic letters beside the eng without loosing functionality ! I meen, backlight baeming existing on the device for the english letters
could that be some sort of laser burning tech for this matter???
Here you are. I am successfully typing italian.
Please next time use search function "hardware keyboard national characters"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417271&highlight=hardware+keyboard+layout
Thanks for this. I needed this tip as well.
Please go easy on the beginners.
It is impossible to find something with keyword search unless you happen to know the exact right keywords (and not some synonyms). I know -- I'm an expert in not finding stuff
you're very welcome
Guys what about software keyborad< original Touch? can we change registry for russian? or insall some cab... I thinnk I tried cab from Dimond 2...but it didn't work
I've changed the sym.0816.txt file and replaced it in \windows!
but somehow I can't type the characters with Fn+Sym key? Am I combining the keys of the keyboard wrong??
I've done it before with Touch Pro with success! It had a physical Sym Key on the HW keyboard and TP2 has a FN+Sym... perhaps that's the problem?!?
thanks
