Spoke to 02 Blackberry Support this morning regarding a few issues with the XDA IIs.
Due to current list of bugs (ie, bluetooth etc) Blackberry is quite low on the list to be including in a Rom update. He felt that it would be Mar-Apr 05 before such a update is released!
It seems that even they are directing people to www.smartner.com to try there solution out rather than have to wait!
I think Smartner could be onto a winner here!!!!!
Pylon Anywhere is a better and cheaper product than Smartner's.
You can download an eval from www.ianywhere.com/products/pylon_anywhere.html

Cheers for the update!
I mailed O2 data support last night so it'll be interesting to see what they tell me.
What I really find peculiar is although they are directing people to smartner, and the smartner website lists O2 as a partner, why aren't O2 listing Smartner as a service offering?
I'm going to check out the other product offered here, but between xmail and smartner, I've pretty much got my "push" (really pull) mail solutions sorted out for a few months.

With Smartner's product, it is simply software for your PPC, which is configured via an web based interface at their end. Priced at $50 per year is pretty reasonable for push email.
How much does Pylon Anywhere cost ? Have looked at their website, but it's not exactly clear. Also I get the impression that users also need to install a 'server' type client - is this correct ?
Cheers
Mark
I'm downloading it now and it is a server based installation, so if its for your work you would have to get your IS department to test and certify the software before deployment. Looking at the site its restricted to Exchange/Domino environments only so those of you with Pop3 or Imap access are out of the picture.
LIke I say, i've got a test exchange environment at home so I'll configure onto that and see how it performs, but I doubt its for the end-user.
Hmmmm, I think at $645.00 for the Pylon software, I'll stick with Smartner for time being!!!!! WOW - I have picked myself back up off the floor now!!!!
Remember, thats not counting the price of the software to run the mailserver as well as the time taken to learn how to configure it.
Pylon Anywhere is a server and client solution, not a hosted service like you mention ($50 per person). You need your own server, just like Blackberry Enterprise.
For the price, you get five users (buy in bundles of five users). This includes the server software and client software for Pocket PC, Smartphone, Palm, Symbian and even desktop XP and more.
The client software installs on your device USING THE DEVICES APPS, not some custom solution, allowing you to use any application available for the Pocket PC (PI/AF for example). It is TRUE push; I can push calendar, mail, contacts, tasks and memos if I choose to (only do calendar and mail). You can then also setup what's called ReadySync sessions that occur at scheduled itervals that sync everything (you select) that you don't want pushed (in our case contacts, memos and tasks).
You can also manually sync your device. It also supports SMS Push for those who like having this service (SMS triggers your device to sync - sound familiar).
Fully encrypted, from end-to-end. Users can install the solution themselves via a web interface system, it also provides access to all their e-mail etc (like OWA) if wanted (can be disabled). User can also install via a CAB file and full install program as well.
You can say what e-mails to push and what not to, like HIGH PRIORITY only etc. You can sync your GAL or portions (filtered) of it.
What else do you want to know?
Dave
As i understand it you can use the blackberry client from the extended rom of the XDA II. You could either add it to your extended rom , or simply run it as a cab file.
Where can I get the cab?
z0mbi....where can I download the cab file for Blackberry Connect?
Thanks
Same questions here.....where can we get the cab file????
And do we have proof this works???
Blackberry CAB file
I have BB Connect working on an XDA II succsessfully, Although we now have an XDAIIs i want to get it going on. So can someone please post the CAB file or tell me how i can extract it from the XDAII ext rom pleeease
Shannon
Desparately seeking the Blackberry CAB
Somebody please help us all!
I have it going on my XDA2 and have extracted the cab and tried it on my PDA2K I-mate .
It installs ok but wont work
I have also got it from the MDA III german version this also installs and runs but RIM detects it as a illegal pin. There must be some sort of checking that it is in the correct rom version.
If i knew german i would be right
Looks like we just have to wait for a english rom with it installed .

The CAB
Apologies for the no reply, I forgot to check back on this thread...
I haven't tested this personaly as I don't own a 2s but it works on my SE'd II
Anyhow please find the attached cab
Thanks... do you have the Desktop configuration tool sw?
Thanks so much for sending this along... Still trying to get it working.... looks like it also requires some desktop-based software.
Would you mind posting?
Thanks in advance!!!
BLACKBERRY XDA IIS
Hey Guys,
Thanks for the Cab file really apprecicate it ... next question, I have got it installed alright however when it is running, active sync does not work . So has anyone actually got it to work on the XDA IIS?
Maybe i need a newer rom for the XDAIIS although i think there is only the launch going round ?
Shannon
I installed it but it screwed up my blue angel - it had the memory errors (i.e. no more memory available to run programs), so I tried to uninstall it but could not - hard reset after that
It installed on my Verizon Harrier, but it doesn't register... It's possible that I need to have a Blackberry account, so I'm going to call them tomorrow to see.
You might not need a blackberry account from your provider to make this work, you probably just need an account on any BES
you know what i think its ridiculous that this site asks for donations nobody ever helps out its just ridiculous you might as well waste your money on a lottery ticket at least you 'might' get something in return!!!!!

hi twiggy,
how can I help you (even that i'm not getting donations here)?
buzz
no ive given up on asking for help ive posted several posts over the last few months and to be honest ive got more help speaking to a brick but thank you for offering DONT DONATE
I have donated, but to be honest my meagre contribution is but a fraction of the value that I have had from xda-developers.
I have unlocked my xda and my xda2. I used the special ROM and later the ROM Kitchens to upgrade my xda. I have downloaded ROM images for my xda2 and learnt how to tweak the extended ROM. I have used buckets full of advice given by the members of this forum. I have had many laughs and smiles reading through the posts.
Xda-developers has been worth every cent/penny of my donation (and probably loads more too). I am waiting for an unlocker for the mda-pro. If it happens then xda-developers or buzzdev will get my next donation.
I haven't expected personal service with replys directly to me. I just read the posts that interest me (and some that don't) and make use of the services that many hardworking developers make available to us all.
Donations only keep the site running and finance its hosting/domain; they don't pay for help from other users of the site. If someone helps somebody else here, they don't get anything (financially) in return and are giving their time and expertise for free.
Regards,
Neil.
I donated because I like my HTC phone and I do not want to lose a technical resource like xda-developers. Even though technical information on HTC phones is hard to come by, there is more information about them on this site, than there is technical information about other phones on any single site. You'd be lucky to find this much information about any phone.

State your problems clearly -- what is happening, and what you want to happen. You might not be getting an answer because your questions are not clear enough and no-one knows what to say.

I'm afraid I'm not an expert on activesync. Others have more experience than I do.
When you say "after sync it drops the connection", do you mean after it has synced your files (contacts, etc.) it drops the connection, or do you simply mean after it opens a connection, it immediately drops it? Are there any clues on the screen of the PC or PDA, any messages? Does it say "synchronized" for any length of time? Can you "explore" your PDA from within ActiveSync?
Have you tried changing the options in ActiveSync? Have you removed unnecessary programs which could be conflicting with AS on your PC or PDA? Have you tried a different USB sync cable or cradle?
If you are trying to fix something wrong on your PDA by installing software on it, have you tried other methods of installing software, such as using a card reader and copying the .CAB files to a SD card, then installing the SD card in your PDA and running the .CAB from there? Or setting up a Bluetooth connection, by using a BT dongle on your PC? Wifi? There are many ways to install stuff on your PDA besides AS. Perhaps the solution to fixing AS, requires going around AS.
What is the history of your PDA? What have you installed on it, and what modifications to the ROM have you made? What steps did you take?
I don't know enough about AS to help -- I'm just trying to steer your questions so that you're more likely to get answers.
you are likely to get more of a response if you stop posting in unlocking and modifying and post with the forum that relates to your device. this way your questions will be more specific, and you will also find that those with more specific experience to your specific device can assist more efficiently that trying to cross advise.
for example, I cant really help on the magician, but have owned the himalaya, and currently the universal. so i only review the himalaya forum and no other.
also, i dont see much where you have provided assistance to others, it appears to be i want i want i want, try to give a lot and you might get back a little rather than vice versa.
it is true, we are all here to help, not serve.
You dont even point out your device, the version of your operating system on your pda or pc, nor what version of activesync. help yourself by helping us to help you.
to give assistance you have to learn, i cant learn from nothing
to give assistance you have to learn, i cant learn from nothing
I'm not sure if this is what you want. I am not an expert but I am just having a look at my device now:
I have an xda2 (Himalaya). With my device NOT connected to the PC:
1) Open Activesync
2) Click on Tools (at the bottom) and selcect Options
3) The next screen should mention the PC that you sync with. Click on the Options button.
4) On the next screen, tick the box for enabling PC sync and choose the USB option in the drop-down box.
5) Just underneath it states: When syncing remotely
6) Select the Maintain connection button
7) Click OK to close the screen
I suspect that this is more for bluetooth or network connections, but it is worth a try.
Good Luck
Hello together,
i have tested many roms from here with WM 6.1 but all (WWE and GER) Roms doens't work with an exchange sync. All WM 6 Roms are run fine, WM5 teh same but all WM 6.1 doesn't sync. I became allways the same error message in activesync.
Error Code: 85010013
Some people wrote me an PN that the problem is:
- this error comes if the DeviceEncryption.dll and its related registry entries are missing.
- That problem may exist if the developer has removed Enterprise from the ROM. Those modules are needed for the Exchange syncing
Can anybody tell me, if there is a chance to create an WM6.1 ROM that works with the exchange server?

i have tested this rom today, i can't sync with exchange.
Many people doesn't have problems because the exchange setting are not so strong. there is a flag called "allow non-provisionable device", when you turn on this sync works fine but not when it is off. But, it is a security leak when this setting is on!

Then your server is configured for good reason in this way.
You want to access the server with a ROM which might be potentially unsafe, because it was cooked by some anonymous guy on the internet, whose intentions are unknown.
I guess it is the needed certificates that the cooks dont want to pay for.

Yes, I got some new htc devices with official released WM6.1 and they are all working fine. Really want to find out what's the different between them.
Morning all.
I'm a long-time reader, first-time poster, but I thought I'd share some further findings on this. I've been having similar troubles and have been playing with this for a few days. All cooked 6.1 roms I tried were refusing to work with Exchange 2007, returning the infamous 85010013.
It seems to have been established here & elsewhere that the "Device not provisioned" is causing it, and more specifically the Remote Wipe functionality. Assuming that your organisation isn't willing to not implement this on every phone containing business data, a workaround is needed.
As part of the initial phone setup, you're prompted to set a pin number. After testing, I've found that setting a pin number scuppers the phone provisioning every time. With every test since, skipping this initially and waiting to be prompted to do it when you're asked to enforce the security policy when first connecting to the Exchange server gives no problems whatsoever.
Hope this helps somebody...

No, i never set the pin at initial phone setup. I always set then pin at the first connect to exchange. I have already the same problem.
So, did the above solution work for anyone? What PIN does he mean? The pin from my SIM card?
Not syncing with Exchange Server - Error 85010013
On my TMO Wing I can flash Touch-IT_v4.4_Stuffed-RUU or Touch-IT_v4.41_Lite-RUU Roms and I am successfully syncing with the Exchange Server.
When I try other ROMs like Touch-IT_v6.1.3_Clean_UC or ITsPapaFinal_Wing (or any PADVIET ROMs) I get error 85010013 when attempting to sync with Exchange Server.
Since it works on some cooked ROMs and not all cooked ROMs I can't see that it's a setting on the Exchange Server. Logic states that there is a difference in the some (perhaps wm6.1) ROMs that is causing the malfunction in syncing with the Exchange Server.
Admittedly, I no very little about programming but I will continue to fish in the dark to learn more about this problem. There are several fantastic chefs here and I'd like to use their ROMs but I need the email to sync for my work.
additional info
I have the same 85010013 problem. Just flashed a new rom and tried to setup exchange. Got the error. Restored from a Sprite backup (level 2) and this added a second exchange server to the list. This one sync'd while the original did not. Deleted the original and then everything seemed fine.
This leads me to believe that it must be something in the Active Sync setup, since at the same time one worked and one didn't Still researching, but wanted to throw this bit of info out there.
Any luck? I hope we can figure this out. How can I get a second Exchange server in my list? SpriteBackup seems dangerous to me...
AAAHHH, i tested several new roms. WM6.1 and WM6.5
All are not working with exchange. Always the same error.
Which WM 6.1 or WM6.5 ROM ist working with the Trinity and Exchange?
hi, im using osavioro's [ROM][WWE] Windows Mobile 6.1 5.2.20270.1.3.1 Ver. 0.4.7.5 at the moment, active sync works perfect with our exchange 2007 over
wifi, gprs. however direct push need gprs to work.
tried several other 6.1 and 6.0 roms and they also worked as long as you have a valid certificate on the server, i fortunate never had any trouble with this.
(when i finaly realized i needed a valid certificate, not self signed)
we have many other devices syncing to the same server as well, iphones3g, wm5, wm6, 6.1. sony ericssons phones (xperia) etc..

Hm, this rom is not working with our exchange server.
new htc devices with origanal wm 6.1 are all working fine with the same server and the same certificate. Only the self cooking rom WM 6.1 and WM 6.5 doesn't work. WM 6 Roms are running.
Hi,
Has anyone found a WM6.1 cooked ROM that works around this problem yet? My organisation upgraded to Exchange 2007 and I had to downgrade back to a stock WM5 ROM to keep being able to sync...
I don't know exactly what are the "Enterprise components" that someone mentioned, but is it that difficult to cook ROM versions that keep these in place?
Thanks in advance!

Will Blackberry Connect work on the Touch Pro2?
I have installed version 106 and no luck as yet with t-mobile., stiil pending.
I just put the blackberry service on the phone and they said give it another day to activate the service.
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
i have been stuck on this issue for a week... no luck...
wrote to htc and they came back saying that look for updates on its site... now that's a really long shot..
would suggest that you too write to them... lets put some pressure..
this is a business phone according to them... then bberry is as much important!
I havent bought this phone yet, but I would only be able to if bbconnect is working.
Could you try to change the device ID to TouchPRO in settings/system/about and change the registry HLM\System\Versions\Aku to .1.6.0
But you need to change it BEFORE you install BBConnect
Please indicate if this makes any difference, otherwise we'll need to wait for a new bbconnect version
When i had installed the software without the above settings, i had a PIN and IP address - but it would not connect.
Later on i had hard reset the phone...
now i re-installed the software with the settings u mentioned, but i do not have a PIN or IP Address and bbconnect will not register either...
could u please tell me how to un-install it safely too? as i do not want to do another hard-reset now!
(btw, i had done a hard reset on the phone earlier coz after i tried 106 and uninstalled it, i installed a previous version 100 and it hung my phone.... )

Hi,
Have you tried this?
See WM65 solution here:

I think you have to play with the version number of your WM...
In case of WM61
I used this:
HKLM\System\Versions\AKU key, change whatever in there (like .0.0.3) to .0.4.2
Br,

I'm an Aussie wanting to purchase a Rhodium...
I'm upgrading from a 7100G blackberry handset. (yup a massive upgrade). Although the most critical part of my phone... (apart from making phone calls) is my blackberry push e-mail...
I can't afford to change over phones until I know that the Blackberry Connect 4.0 works. I know that HTC have a special version of the Blackberry Connect for the Diamond, the Touch Pro ect...
http://www.htc.com/sea/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=497&news_id=61
With Windows 6.5 rumoured to be released within the next month I'm speculating that we won't see Blackberry Connect 4.0 working on the windows mobile 6.1

Me too!! Not working.
Had T-mobile and Rim on the phone together with no luck.
Well I contacted HTC to find out when it would work and this was the reply I received:
Since Windows Mobile is our platform for the HTC handsets, we would push customers to use the Microsoft exchange server.
The device comes with microsoft exchange server support and also supports IMAP and POP3 accounts.
HTC is not going to release any Blackberry connect applications and it would not up to HTC to do this. If Blackberry wants to develop an application and release it to HTC, you may need to check with RIM/BB.
RIM (is the company name)
Blackberry is the platform
Hope this information helps.
Sounds like the person I was contacted by either has no idea or there's no plan for blackberry connect to work on the touch pro 2.... Oh well looks like I'll have to purchase a storm...
Just be patient...
I'm more than sure that we will get BBC to work the same way we did it before. By manipulating the Device-ID string in the ROM (from HTC-Rhodium to whatever) BBC should recognize the device as "allowed" and it _should_ work. So all we have to do is to wait for the HardSPL-guys getting it done so that we can flash custom ROMs. Once this is done, I assume we will have BBC up and running.
Blackberry Connect.
Blackberry Connect does not work on the device, however, it seems to work on the HD.

make sure your AKU is set to .1.6.3. I have bbc .106 working fine on my touch pro2 with this and the SetModelID solution

I am planning on upgrading from Fuze to Fortress (TP2) and want to see if this works. You need to make sure your account is provisioned for BBConnect service.
Didn't work for me even after switching system ID to identify as Raphael, on T-Mobile US.
It works fine on the Rhodium. Check out the thread entitled "blackberry connect, not yet working" It got working about halway through. I use BBC on mine but I needed to make a couple of tweaks as outlined in that thread.
Dominoid - Rhodium - Blackberry connect
very interested in your asnwer dominoid.....can you send us more specifics as to how / what / where. We are dying to get Rhodium work with BBErry Connect. Which version worked with yours?
Does anyone know the orignal AKU for the ATT Tilt2?
I hate cross posting in threads, but somehow people decided to open different threads on the same topic. (Maybe a mod can merge them into one if he reads this).

I can not get my bank java application to either send sms or connect to internet for activation or transaction. Pls help.
Lol..
Edit; Removed this post. I do apologize, acting before thinking seldom brings good things. Might have been smart to check out your profile first, you are so right. The tallest man is the one who admits his errors. Have a nice day
I think he just believes there to be an error with "java" with this rom.
he is not asking us to do anything other than tell him how to fix the java.
Firstly you should not have made a new thread, should have asked it in the Rom thread where people are more likely to help.
Secondly java is working fine in 3.2
Did you install 3.2 after a wipe or straight from 3.1? if so that might be your problem
Thank you Lennyuk. That was exactly my problem. I actually installed 3.2 straight from a stock rom and while the java was okay as in the program runs, I was unable to get it to activate (needs and sms or gprs for that). It just stays there for ever either sending a message or connecting with no result.
My suspicion is that there is a permission issue or something.
And I have made a post in the main thread, but it appeared buried in the issue of MMS etc.
As for my dull friend who equates every Nigerian to a scammer, I advice that you look well sometimes before you leap. You can check my profile on this board, I have been here for a long time. Pls watch what you say to people, leaping at people like an alsatian dog on community forums like this does not portray you as civilized.
You may be right with the permission issues there, as for a fix I am not so sure. maybe you should try asking in the main forum again now as the mms issues have gone away.
Thanks, I have done it. But I will be glad if people who are experts in this can please check and advice me. Thanks
Try this:
Delete the "java" folder on your sdcard (NOTICE! You'll lose every java program installed already). Then reinstall them again. These actions may will bring them back to life. Make sure you can reinstall them before doing so.
BTW, Make sure your mms and internet connection work with other programs such as htc mail, original mms progam and etc... If they're simply not working, you may need to ask your provider about how to set them up.
