Upgrade HBOOT 0.90, WFS Vodafone

Hi,
I've been trying to unlock the bootloader of my Wildfire S without success.
I have followed the process with HTCDev, downloading the HTC EUR, and finalyzing the installer without problems.
Once I get to the point to use fastboot command I get an error which I read is due to have the HBOOT 0.90
I have tried to manually take the rom.zip that the install process extracts in the temp folder and put it into the SD card. When I get to the bootloader, it starts processing but finishes with the message: <bootloader> bypassed
I have tried with other PF76IMG files from several threads and get the 'Main version is older: Update Failed'
I finally tried to extract the zip to modify the 'android-info.txt' file and write an upper version 2.26.161.1, but once zipped again the error dissapears but nothing happens (No message appears)
Could you please give me a hand with this? I have now the phone with no wifi, and unstable screen and I am getting desperate, :silly:
Thanks a lot in advance,
Hueso

You shouldn't have to upgrade HBOOT if you're on 0.90 ..
Is your phone still on 2.3.3 or have you upgraded OTA to 2.3.5 ?
-----------
"You can overclock as much as you want, your phone will always seem too slow."
Go to www.htcdev.com/bootloader select wildfire s in the drop down menu and follow the instructions there. You will have to create a account first.
Overview of the process:-
• upgrade your bootloader to an unlockable one.
• Get your identifier token
• Submit it to HTC and they will give you an unlock token by email.
• Flash it and unlock bootloader
All these steps are given in detail on the website.

I am already done those steps, but I am stuck in the second point. I have downloaded HTC Euro, finished the install of the RUU but got an error when using the fastboot command to get the token, I have read this is due to my 0.90 HBOOT version.

After running the RUU, you should have hboot 1.08.0099 or 1.09.0099. Are you sure sure the RUU was successful?

No errors thrown in the installer. I also received the congrats or succesful install screen, I don't remember exactly but I'll try to upload a screenshot with the message.

Thanks omnomnomkimiiee, hope you can help me identifying what it is.
When I got the rom from the RUU installer and tried to flash it from bootloader, I received the message:
<bootloader> bypassed
Radio is then flashed correctly. Could it be related?
Thanks again,
Hueso
Bootloader is being bypassed because you already have 0.90, I think.
Are you sure all the files you need for the token request are in the right folder ?
Are you typing exactly the same command ?
-----------
"You can overclock as much as you want, your phone will always seem too slow."
Could you confirm your bootloader version?
If you're still on hboot 0.90 there's no need for you to get unlocked, instead you can be S-OFF!
Some ruus which are old have two zips rom1 and rom2. If you've lash rom 1 it updates the radio and all. If you by then flash rom1 then you get s- off. It's an od trick, and I'm not sure which ruus they were.

Yes, I have checked the 3 of them are on the same folder and I am writing the same command. I have succesfully flashed a HTC Sensation following the same steps, except the RUU process which is not needed two weeks ago.

error 130: Bootloader Error

Hi all,
I'm new with the HTC (S-On).
I want to unlock the phone, but get the wrong version of the ROM.
So, here is what I already done:
1. Install the ROM RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.13.401.2_Radio_47.23a.35.3035H_7.53.39.03M_release_225747_signed.exe. And when I search the RUU to unlock it, I get the version 401.3.
2. Since I just see the 401.3, I installed this ROM RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.26.401.3_Radio_47.23e.35.3038H_7.57.39.10M_release_261695_signed.exe.
3. Well, it's totally wrong, because the last RUU on the HTC Dev is 2.13.401.3. So I install the correct one RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.13.401.3_Radio_47.23c.35.3037_7.54.39.28M_release_236989_signed.exe, but I get the error.
:crying:
Error 130: (I forget the error, it said about bootloader error).
Please help.
Thankyou

Scrolled down to factory reset
It would reset but no changes to the problems like no service /no sound /
I factory reset a couple of times as I could not use the settings to connect wifi
After a few tries, settings error did not come up and I could connect to wifi and update the phone apps etc
If I restart, setting error comes up again etc so I avoid restarting the phone etc
Apps work fine,
With no sound videos do not play
On bootloader

Bootloop after Factory Reset

I have colleague that has problem with his phone, he did a factory reset and after that the phone just goes into boot loop.
He can get to HBOOT window and also inte Recovery. I tried doing a factory reset from the recovery but it did not help, the phone still gets stuck in boot loop, I guess since the reset now resets to the erroneous software.
He is completely on stock, locked bootloader and S-On .
What is the best way forward trying to get latest stock SW or unlocking bootloader, s-off and flashing 3: part SW?
Why always people think S-Off should fix their problem ? That should be the last choice after HTC Service Centre .. if the problem is related to hardware failure.
What you can try first as this is stock, S-On & locked device -
1. Flash a HTC Signed firmware for the firmware version that currently it's running.
2. If the above fails, try the official RUU if available
3. If the above fails, check the error listed when doing no. 1 - to see any hardware failure like EMMC failed & etc
What's the firmware no. ? You can see that on the bootloader - OS - x.xx.xxx.x
then check my thread for the signed firmware. I have almost all the Marshmallow firmware in the collection.

I recommend this file. It is the official RUU from HTC. Simply run it from your PC. If it fails, place your phone into bootloader mode and try again. This should not fail. Just be aware that you need a USB 2.0 port, not USB 3.0 as it doesn't play well with Android. This RUU will wipe your internal storage, so make a backup of anything you want to keep first.

You can't go backwards (downgrade) to 4.16.401 from 6.12.401 with s-on. Even with s-off, you can't flash the Lollipop RUU from Marshmallow, unless you flash the LP firmware first.
And I'm not suggesting s-off either, as you probably don't need it.

It might take 5 or 10 minutes.
On your phone's screen, you may see the names of various modules being flashed, with (hopefully) a message showing each one confirmed/successful. The phone has something like 41 partitions, and all of them get flashed.

I've tried using ruu. Keep getting error 132. Tried it in bootloader, download and recovery.
Please search for the key word "encryption key" in that post or read the post with the common RUU errors.
Sent from my HTC One M9 using XDA Labs
Thanks guys. Any chance y'all know if the firmware can be flashed with TWRP?
RUUs can't get flashed via TWRP. However, there are several flashing methods explained in the RUU section.
Sent from my HTC One M9 using XDA Labs
What about firmware? Those can be flashed with twrp, right?
Not really. TWRP doesn't have access to the partitions that would be needed to be overwritten. TWRP only has access to the system, the recovery partition and the boot partition. You might want to read the article that is linked as "the difference between rom and firmware" in the further reading section.
Once I have the firmware extracted, could I use adb to flash the firmware?
No, since ADB only works if the phone is booted to modes in which it won't accept the firmware files (the system or the recovery mode).
Why don't you keep things simple and use an OTA?
Sent from my HTC One M9 using XDA Labs
Ota keeps giving me an error saying my phone has been modified and ruu keeps giving me error 132 in both download and bootloader modes.
As written before, that error 132 occurs due to the new encryption keys.
You need to flash the RUU for your current firmware or to restore an "untouched" TWRP backup of that version and then you can take the OTA.
Sent from my HTC One M9 using XDA Labs
How am I supposed to ruu when it keeps giving me errors?
The newer 4.x RUU uses different encryption keys than your phone. You need to flash the RUU for your current firmware.
Sent from my HTC One M9 using XDA Labs
I know that. I keep asking for the ruu for my firmware but jeep getting the runaround instead of what I'm asking for.

Did I understand wrong or this seems like an order?
I've read the Readme a dozen times. Replied to the Readme asking questions. Nobody can give me a straight answer. How hard is it to tell me which file I need so I don't have to download every single file in the forum soft bricking my phone over and over again? All I'm asking is which file I need given my firmware. Which I've posted screenshots of.
help!
Okay, before any of you start. Yes I've read the forum Readme. Yes, I've read the rules. I've asked this question at least a dozen times on multiple threads and absolutely nobody can give me a straight answer telling me to read the readme/rules. And it's really getting frustrating. So here's my question one more time. How do I update my phone to nougat? Yes I've tried ruu in both download mode AND in bootloader mode AND in recovery mode in all 3 modes, I get error 132. Yes, I tried Ota update through phone settings and keep getting an error saying the my phone has been modified. Here are screenshots of my software info.

And in which of your posts did you mention your current firmware? You didn't even mention which version of the phone you own before 01:03 (MET), today. The fact that you get errors while trying to install OTAs gets mentioned the first time at 23:06 (MET), yesterday. We don't own crystal balls. How are we suposed to know these things?

You obviously didn't read a single guide in the RUU section. They all start with the same step:
Boot to download mode and look at the line with "OS" at the beginning for finding out your current firmware version.
The "firmware version" in "settings>about>software information>more" is only the base of the (custom) rom you are running and might therefore differ from the real one in the download mode.
Remember that you can always flash newer RUUs as long as they use the same encryption key as your current firmware. (c.f. the important notes in this post)
