No GSM error - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development
Hello my first or second posting here but i read alot without posting a message....
My motherlanguage is not english so please be kind if you find any error
My device :
Hermes 100 Xda Trion from O2 Germany
Windows Mobile 6
IPL-1.04
SPL-2.10.olipro
O2 Rom D3.54.207.2
Radio 1.16.00.00
Dont know what this is ... 32.53.7018.01H
Since thursday i have the No GSM error (even if i`m addicted to flash ROMs like hell, i really did nothing like 2 weeks with my device).
What i did before i do my posting this is:
Hard reset 127 times
Soft reset anything like 200-300 times.
Read about 30 threads with that error and most reflect to this guide.
Readed this guide 5 times.

Flashed original HTC Tytn ROM/Schaps Rom flashed different radio roms.
It looks ok for 30 minutes but then the device is stuck and after a soft reset it says No GSM again and again ...
It looks like it have connection but if i call my number it have no connection.
Now i give up and ask you guys for help please.

i have the same problem, i search for a result but now i upgrade the radio, but now i cant flash the radio again, it start to hang at 11%...
I had a similar problem on my Wizard one time.
I ended up fixing it by flashing on of the giant original shipping roms.
The rom includes everything and was the only way I could recover from the corrupt radio flash.

these problems are caused be something glitching up in the flash, not the sim
Got the same problem: the radio died without any new flash
If you find a solution, I have some interest too

Try to flash again, i had same errors after i flashed some different ROM`s.
What i remember just right now:
I get a new sim card on thursday since then i have this no GSM error.
Now i`m scared to setup my connection because the device is running.
Had some connection losses but as long its working...
Not really.... i open Programms and scroll down then windows hang.
No UMTS connection i bought it because i want to read my emails, not just to make phone calls .
And to be honestly : to flash around
Still looking for a solution for that no GSM error.

Same Problem
I got an replacement from At&t because of the white screen effect on the Cingular version.
As soon as I load in the sim it gives me a no gsm message..
so i load up black X rc and the newest att radio and i still get the message..
So finally i hard reset a couple of times and it goes away..
Now the only thing is that the connection reset a lot and even flashing back to the original raido with an downgraded ipl and spl still doesn't solve that. I even got a new sim and no luck.
I even went to the point of simunlocking it and it still doesn't work.
Keep in mind that this is the new att 8525 and the cingular 8525 worked better even it i cudn't see the screen..lol

yea i tried the one off htc's website i get an error about 11% thru, any other ideas because im going crazy i have no gsm no phone service no service period!! HELP!!!
Yes, the latest supported wm5 is the one i had originally.

ur RADIO ROM version is - 1.16.00.00. Hope you know that this has to be separately updated, and is not included in any of the ROMs available in the cooked format e.g schaps....
may i suggest that you upgrade to one of the latest RADIO ROMs, available here - http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtractedRadioRoms
The 1.48 RADIO ROM seems particularly stable all around the world, so go ahead and give it a try - ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Hermes/HERM_Radio_Only_1.48.00.10_CustomRUU.rar
After that, you could choose Schap's latest ROM and upgrade to the same; and check if things work out.
EDIT: I see that you have flashed different radio roms already......
NOOB's ANSWER TO THIS PREDICAMENT: Downgrade to the offficial radio and ROM. And see to it that you restore your SPL i.e., follow the procedures of removing olipro.... and take it to your nearest O2 dealer...

How about this one:
Flash your ROM radio etc.
Take out the battery for 20 minutes.
Yesterday i flashed the original O2 ROM after it said No GSM again.
I was mad and took out the battery.
In the morning i inserted the battery again and since then no problem.
To test this if its really working i flashed a HTC ROM, after configuration etc. i took out the battery again, waited ~ 20 minutes.
Because it said no GSM again after flashing HTC ROM.
Looks like its working (for me)

hey.. i would really appreciate if you guys could help me out with this one (i am a noob =(( )
One perfect night i loose reception and unable to retain it(no gsm). it seems like i cannot find my network (AT&T) i have the AT&T 8525 phone.
when i go to settings>system>device information, my radio field is blank, i persume thats the problem.. i have tried to install some, but none seem to go through completely.. I have installed vp's WM6 + addons ROM, but it is still blank..
It would be great if you could help me out, i really need the phone for my business.

i know that radio rom needs to be upgrade by itself my prob is that there is no radio it doesnt even read the IMEI, but i know it works because on my old Hermes it still works so its the phone, any ideas? i try to upgrade the radio rom, ive read all the forums on how to fix the radio rom only and nothing again it starts gets to like 11% or 12% then error 262. HELP!!

Flashed WM5 same error = No GSM
Sometimes it shows No R No G
Tested it with 3 different operators sim card.
Setup a complete new OS on my notebook (because i thought a virus maybe and it corrupted the downloaded files).
During the flash process i even dont breathe but no help
Flashed HTC ROM with radio 1.47... interrupted the second update/setup process.
Was ok for 3 hours.
Are we all just beta testers from HTC and MS ?
Im still getting the same issue. Although I unlocked and superCID the deviece I will try to get a warranty exchange on it. It was messing up before I did any of that so I don't think that it should matter. I just want my old Cingular 8525... but i guess i have to keep on trying until I get a good one.

Ladies and gentlemen, I had the same problem, and I fixed it. Here's my story.
I was an idiot one night. Pulling my trusty 8525 from my pocket to read a text message, I instead dropped it. On its face. On pavement. From waist height.
I know, I cringed, too.
Ever since then, I got the No GSM error, and radio ROMs refused to flash beyond 11%, except the original factory ship ROM which got as far as 12%. Everything else worked perfectly except the radio.
I took it to one of the IT guys at work who suggested that I may have damaged something on the mainboard, but here's another 8525 you can play with if you want, because it's in the recycle box and will be going out the door to be recycled soon and we won't see any money out of it anyway, so here, it's yours.
Problem was, 8525-b had video issues. SOMETIMES would get the whitescreen. ALWAYS wrapped the bottom ten or fifteen rows of pixels up to the top of the screen. But the phone worked flawlessly.
Then, I discovered that the "video card" is separate from the main circuit board. Therefore, 8525-a had problems with the mainboard, and 8525-b had problems with the videoboard.
The solution presents itself.
Took them both apart, took the mainboard from the 8525-b and installed it into the 8525-a.
My Hermes is back. Everything functions flawlessly, including the radio. And everything flashes, too.
Point of the story: I don't know if you dropped your phone or if maybe something else may have caused some damage, but the only way that I was able to work around the radio rom flash hanging at 11% issue was to replace the mainboard. I got lucky, I was good friends with the IT guy. But I was never able to find another solution.

im 88% through flashing, figured wtf 1.06 can go on again
Okay, I've done the upgrade and when I did a soft-reset my machine said Radio 1.08.00 Protocol 42.41.P8 And I have connected to my wireless network at home and have successfully browsed to the bbc.co.uk homepage, so WiFi works. I haven't put a SIM in my device yet (still using my old phone). Why do you guys think it's for the Himalaya?
well it seems to work a treat chaps, wifi connectec quicker im sure, not long enough for a thorough check but its working!!!

Okay guys, here's what I've found so far: WiFi works - connected to my home network and browsed Bluetooth works - ran TomTom and got a fix Phone works - Made a few phone calls. AND... When I rang the Exec it indicated an incoming call the INSTANT I got a dial tone on the house phone and there was no delay before we could hear each other! This looks like the real deal!
im sure this thing is running alot smoother aswell, so far 1.08 on the Universal is a green light, i dunno where this hymilaya thing has come from, but on buzz's site its in the universal section
Yeah I agree Carnivor. It looks very promising so far and all of the functions appear to work at least as well as before. Just been syncing successfully with Exchange over WiFi. Obviously if it starts crashing we'll report back, but nothing bad so far!
About wifi, did you have the need to turn on twice to connect, and is it solved with this radio? Ie: Some universal user can turn on wifi the first time, but if you turn it off (using the pocket pc menu, not by turning off the power), and you turn on again, it won't connect. You would have to turn off then on to connect.
i upgraded to my Jasjar and all went alright until I reset at the end and it want boot past the blue i-mate screen, I have even hard reset and still nothing. Any help please..... Or does anyone know how to put old radio or Rom on as it will not boot up so I can't use activesync Please any help

Click to collapse Just reset the device normally and plug in the USB cable. ActiveSync won't connect, but it will be connected to your PC. Just run the T-Mobile ROM Update program then and everything should be fine If you still want to upgrade to Radio ROM 1.08.00, then try the tutorial I wrote here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40986 Just follow all the steps for the radio ROM, and in the end throw away the non-radio ROM files before flashing I'm using this method right now on my Dutch T-Mobile MDA Pro as I also had trouble with the NoID tool

Click to collapse Err, sorry, my bad I thought you had a T-Mobile logo in your name No, if you have an I-Mate, use an original I-Mate ROM instead of the T-Mobile one EDIT: Actual feedback on this Radio ROM: the GPRS refused to log in, somehow, although I'm not quite sure this is a problem with the ROM. I'll downgrade to 1.06.00 later and see if the problem persists. Everything else seems to work just fine
Upgrade Radio 1.08.00 I just upgraded my Universal (OS: TMo 1.20.34) with Radio 1.08. Everything running like a charm. Cheers hrb
"No GSM" on boot screen after reset
Hi, My Qtek9090 started to act wierd. When I reset it sometimes it says "no GSM". I have tried to reload latest radio software without success. The phone also stops responding now and then for a minute or so All this happened after I tried to install pocketZip (and run it once) My guess is that something in the registry or some more deeper vaule (like calibration data for the radio) has changed and made the phone crazy.. Is their anyone out there that can help me to understand what happened? Br Lars
still GSM problems Hi, I still have problem radio problem. Now I have reassembled it and found a loose screw :shock: After that, I "upgraded" to latest rom, 1.40wwe, and then radio to 1.15 After this the PDA does not say "No GSM" any longer, though I only have rebooted it ten times or so. But when I wake it up from sleep I can see that the radio has been shut off, both via "phoneAlarm" and the GPRS icon "G" which turns into double arrow with a "x" And the problem with "slow" responce still occurs, but if I do a call, the slow responce dissappears for while. I have now given up, and ordered a HTC TyTN instead, I hope its not bad choice... Br Lars

I have to say tht there are many issues in using the 1.15 radio.. it has borked many phones. so my suggestion to the mods is to remove the 1.15 link from the downloads. I have also spoiled my phone using the 1.15 rom. O2 says you need to change the mainboard.. so guys dont use the 1.15 rom
but i didn't install nethin and it happend...i still have the same problem...btw is there a way to instal the original radio rom...that might help my phone...cuz i dun thin i have one in ma phone

Vista + Windows Mobile Device Center = lost Radio ????
Hi, Been trying to sync my MDA vario 2 (with tmobile WM6) with Vista using Windows Mobile Device Center. My phone crashed during the first sync, so I had to do a soft reset. Now I cannot connect to phone network. Tried a hard reset, and still no joy. Checked my Device information in settings and have found Radio version and Protocol version now blank. Looks like somehow its deleted my radio! Anyone had the same experiance? I assume I need to re-flash my phone. I could re-flash, it will probably work. My contract ends in a month, maybe I should try for a Vario3 from T-Mobile? This is my 4th Vario 2 that has failed in 17 months Just also noticed that the IMEI number is also missing! I take it its now u/s ???
Hi... I doubt Vista+MDC have caused the problem... This sounds suspiciously like "Sudden Radio Death syndrome" which I'm investigating at the moment. A reflash may work - but if it's sudden radio death your flash will get stuck between 8% and 48%. To get through so many TyTNs in 17 months is either shockingly unlucky or something has been going radically wrong! What happened?? Anyway - try flashing a radio to it (try 1.43 which is a reasonable all-rounder for T_mob uk) Anyway - Have a look at this thread that discusses the issue (and I've posted reasons/possible fixes to try - it's the enormous post on that page ) and this thread here regarding 1.5x radio'd devices suddenly dying like yours has. Hmmm Just tried a reflash to the official t-mobile..... It stopped at 11%, then gave a communication error. BTW this phone has only been flashed once, 3 weeks old, and was flashed to the official T-Mobile WM6. Just tried flashing again, its now stuck at 11% again as I type. The flashing software is giving Error 262. Think radio has died
Still no fix for GSM problems?
Well iv tried just about every method that has been posted. Still getting the no GSM message at boot up. I have to HR a few times to get the phone to pick up a signal. It will work for a few minutes of talk time then freeze up and again with the no GSM. Iv tried the methods listed in the various threads and it still does this even with the standard At&t rom. Anyone have any ideas or is it time to send it in to At&t or just buy a new phone?
I did send it to AT&T and got it back fixed. It is a bad time to buy a new phone. Raphael (TyTN III) is not out yet.
May be bad radio rom or you have interrupt the process of updating. If it is fixed then keep the radio that is installed and don't upgrade or try for better Radio ROM. Always check the package of rom before ROM upgrading. Need a hint. Try to search for NBHExtract TOOL

11-12% im having the same problem that you are having. i have an htc 6800 and id like some help on what i might be screwing up on. this is my first flash and im not quite how to fix it. it seems like some one might know whats happening to us. this is my first flash. and this is what i know. i know i have bl 1.20 and which was successfully installed.... then i tried to install a rom. alltel as it was required to flash the phone to cricket. that didn't work so well. about 11-12% my comp made a thinking noise like it was starting to load something then my 6800 flashed red and went back to the red green blue screen... so ive been at it all day and found lots of useful info on the internet learning lots about this phone and flashing procedures. found a place online where it instructed me to "force feed the rom" mind you this wasn't something that would fix my problem just a different way to install the rom. so i used a blank RUU and that for the moment looked like it would work. it to had a communication error but it got to 59% the error code was 260. it asked me to unplug everything and plug everything. i have been at this a while i have tried many configurations and different computers and different usb ports. i don't even have a full drasp on this yet. some one tell me how to fix this or what i did wrong. im interested in somthing i read about that i cant find now about loading the rom by resting the phone and the rom installing from the sd card???? can i do this if my usb is acting up?
