Date and Time setting after ROM flash - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

There are some cooked ROMs after which I need to redo the TZ the time and the date, whereas there are other cooked ROMs that do not require this and my current date/time/tz settings survive the flash. Does anyone know why and how?

I've always had to set the date and time in every Rom I falsh. I think it's due to the release date.
It's not a big problem, right?

I never set the time/date after flashing these roms. It's automated in Schaps & TNT (and some others). They list a rom feature called "Automatic network time/zone synchronization".

This is the set up you do during the the initialization process, not after the WM6 is set up and running.

the 3G icon is so ugly, can some fix it with a nicer icon, I don't really mind the old U icon.
Thanks
I second this request.

this has alrady been done in a couple of roms.. do a search for "clean 3g icon" thier is a cab file that fixes this
Honestly, I am also wondering how could the manufacturing team design or make this ugly icon, they didn't "see" it before they launched?

Well I did (something with the batterylevel).
In my case I had a freeze on softreset after installing it with two different ROMS (but that could be a coincidence).
But I'd say: use it if you like, I won't stop anyone!

I've used it with Black 3.5, LVSW (05/19/07), Schap's 3.30c (for 3 weeks ), and now the Cingular official rom and my battery always shows 70-90% by the end of the day. You may have a conflict with a system file that got changed when you installing your 3rd party software.
Just something to think about
thank you it works great

Dont think so as the battery warning levels are set inside the dll! No 3rd party software would affect this because it would probably affect the 3G icon.

Hi there,
i had the same problem here, the clock stopped to update in TF3D. (The clock itself works fine.. ) A softreset did not helped, but 2x runs of "cleanRAM" solved the problem so far.
Another problem i noticed is, after running Klaxxon sometimes the whole phone will loose 95% of its cpu-performance. Softreset will fix this.
Next problem belongs to the camera. Sometimes camera go into a "save-loop" when pictures got saved to internal flash (not 4GB device)
So long, Christian
Guys, Gen.Y D2 R2-Rev.Y has its own thread... there´s no reason creating something else just to solve your problems...
So, the clock problems have been reported there several times, and you may find that one of those is the issue:
- usage with some alarm utility (such as pocketalarm, klaxxon, etc)
- usage with S2u2: I don´t have this problem myself but it´s been reported, so, try to avoid it
- bad flash: read the MTTY thread and try to flash your device again, using that process.
If the problem persists... well, you´re free to get back to whichever ROM you find more suitable, since it´s been reported as well in the thread that some devices will keep - still - freezing the clock.
Good luck. And I guess, moderator, you can close this thread.

Hi,
You go in "Settings"==>"Today" disable TF3D click ok, and then RE-Enable TF3D...
This is a bug Manila 2.1
I had the same problem but now its solved.
Go to all settings -> system ->Clock and Alarms.
Change the timezone to any other time zone.
Then, go back to the home screen clock. click on it.
From World Clock remove the original clock.
Go back to clock and alarms-
Now put the your timezone.
I think for some users, it does work properly for city timezone'
i had the same problem, disabling and re-enabling TF3D2 is indeed a solution. The problem is caused by the service autotimeupdate.exe.
I removed the startup key in the registry, and now the clock works perfectly without disabling TF3D2 or other modifications!

SOLUTION
I had been petrified with the clock hanging issue for a long time, but these simple steps seemed to have solved my prob,
1. Diable TF3D from Today.
2. Restart would be preferable.
3. Diable automatic time zone change in settings>phone
4. Again a restart would be preferred.
5. Adjust time in settings>clock if required.
6. Start TF3D from today.
Try it out, works well for me

I used to have the same problem with pocketshield installed, it was because I have a pin set for my sim when the phone starts up, and if pocketshield started to load before touch flo it caused the clock locking up problems, so as soon as the pin screen comes up insert pin quick and press enter then all is fine, or remove the sim pin.

AT&T Disables HSDPA by default on Tilt 2

If you look through the registry, specifically at:
HKLM\Software\OEM\RIL\DisH
HKLM\Software\OEM\RIL\EnableHSDPAIcon
DisH is set to 1
EnableHSDPAIcon is set to 0
Why does AT&T continue to tout this device having 7.2mbps capability when they cripple it by default?
I can't wait for a stable TF3D 2.5 enabled ROM with Tilt 2 keyboard support so I can fully unleash the power of my Tilt 2.

Doesn't that registry setting only control the icon that shows on the top of the home screen (and not the actual speed)? AT&T disables the "H" icon by default on all of its smartphones that I've seen in favor of a "3G" icon.

Same here with the Q9h. My unlocked Treo Pro shows the "H" by default.
The "HKLM\Software\OEM\RIL" section of the registry controls whether the icons show on the screen. I remembered that from the Q9h and modding to get the GPS signal icon to show at the top of the screen.
That only controls whether or not H is displayed instead of 3G when connected to HSDPA. It will still use HSDPA, but will show 3G. This is to make it easy and not confusing for the average person.

The workaround for that is using the connections settings, select networks and re-create the wap.cingular profile.
If you want to enable it in internet sharing, search this forum and find the reg key that enables the wap.cingular profile for internet sharing.

Under that place where you're looking, is there no sub-section called "GSM/UMTS Servcies", with Time Synchronization as a choice on that screen?
That's right. Turns out the nrg rom from the 22nd didn't have that tab, but the updated 26th rom does!
Cab
Sounds like you're good now but occasionally I'll hit a ROM that doesn't have the advanced tabs enabled. The attached cab usually does the trick. Couldn't find the original source/thread where it came from, came from XDA's pyrorob though.

Hard to say yet. I'll have to use it more. Actually the XXJPP radio performed well, just that we all got the feeling it was sucking up more battery.

It's about the same as (as fast as) JPO. I was on JPO for about a week before flashing to the HK JPD lastnight.

Yeah. The app is called 'Messenger'. Has the usual MSN icon. Loading it brings up a 'windows live' splash screen then a 'windows live messenger' login.

One thing I can report is that the alphabetical bar in contacts displays all letters from #-A-Z, unlike most European 2.2 builds The bar extends onto the search bar, allowing space for all letters.
Unfortunately Music player still suffers from this issue once you start playing a song. Funny that the height of the items seem to increase, while the height of the alphabetical bar is shrunk slightly, causing letters F, L, R and X to disappear.
Album search from now playing screen also works perfectly (unlike European 2.2)
