thanks gonna try

I prefer Iliumsofts eWallet. It is AFAIK the only wallet software which does not sync the whole file, but only the changed entries.
With other Software you change on your PC one card, and on the PPC another one, you will get a conflict during syncing.

Use my 'Blender'? It is not very convenient if you were to view your stuff frequently, but for me, I've flash ROM and stuff so much, the only thing backing up my stuff is Outlook. And I've used it to encrypt my data and save them to Notes. Which I can refer later by doing a decrypt on it Link at my signature.

Reminder Application

Hey, I love my s621 and all the awesome software that you guys have provided on the forums. I was wondering if there was an application that would allow me to make notes, such as:"clean your room" and also remind me to of the note at a certain( or at certain intervals) Thanks!

yes, it is called calendar and is on your phone.
lol, i guess that works(i never use it, thats y i didnt think of it) but i was hopin for maybe something simpler.
Thanks!
Wow!
I'm gonna apologize if I sound like a prick, but if people took the time to play with their phones a bit to learn what apps were in their device, and what they did, we wouldn't have questions like this where a simple calendar app can remind you when you need it to, it comes with all roms and is not complicated to use.
True...
I use Google calendar for all my needs and set it up to send me a text message 15 minutes prior to the event/task. Then I use Oggsync to sync to my phone from the Google calendar. May switch to NuevaSync soon thouh (free).

Google offers a Sync option for free. It syncs contacts and your calendar OTA (over the air)
Does that require a data package? All i have is unlimited text. Maybe it wont be too much to recognize on the bill?

What are the best ways to back-up the data on my phone?

I'm going to start flashing my phone whenever any new NRG ROM's come out, but I don't know how to back-up all the data on my phone so I don't have to start all over again.
What programs are best to use? And how do I use them?
Cheers.
define data.
contacts, notes, tasks, calendar?
try outlook. or myphone.
though. there are others.
names escape my mind though.
ya men, plenty out there. depends on what your needs are.
some just care about messages, some wants to have all back.
maybe configuration of apps.
-
I am using an small easy script I wrote in mscr, you can give it a try.
no good for messages but doing all the rest.
it works the way that ONCE you have to copy files holding configuration to SD card to dedicated folder, then it's doing it itself on scheduled time.
once you reflash rom, it will restore them all back. registry as well.
just back up your contacts to your sim and use Microsoft My Phone. Backs up all the basics, simply, quietly and not a problem to restore the info. It even holds your douments too. Should already be on your phone (the best part). I now never hesitate to hard reset if I want to do something
Cheers guys.
But stuff I'd like to save are the likes of all the settings. All my contacts etc. are all on my account on Microsoft's exchange server, it's just all the individual settings which i wish i could keep instead of flashing then spending half an hour doing them all over again!

that's what this script is doing, if you are familiar with creating reg files. and you are able to point out files responsible for settings in whichever app, give it a try. it's launging somewhere around on xda-dev, but i would update it if you like.
e.g. skype:
you copy application data\skype to SD\backup\application data\skype
and it will every 2 weeks copy them, again and again. It's done in background and very slowly, not slowing other processes, you can't notice. then there is simple restore which through config.txt herds them back.
for registry e.g facebook, create facebook.reg and put in SD\backup
just adding pim.vol will take care of contacts and calendar.
there is an option to add a file: "backup.all" which would mean that the whole folder is going there.
it's simple but what more I need?
hi guys

i am using PIMbackup:
http://www.dotfred.net/default.htm
it's simple, small, free and the guy who wrote it looks smart, he did the fdc task manager too, there is no concurrence in that one.
I've been using something payed and fancy and big before and it messed my messaging.
thank you very much i downloaded it and as soon as possible i'll try it.from the web site it seems very good!

Thinking about moving to android, few questions...

Im thinking about moving from WinMo to Android. If you could help me with few questions...
I dont use any Google services, no gmail as I rather use myowndomain.com... I want to sync with Outlook via usb (bluetooth, yeah maybe but usb would be better); contacts, calendar and tasks... Is there good sync software out there?
The main reason for me to have a smartphone for a cell phone, is so I dont need always have a laptop with me. This brings me to opening and editing office apps; I found "Documents to Go" that seems to be OK, anyone using it?
To me its also important to automatically sync folders while syncing with Outlook, any good programs for that? Ive been using MobSync with WinMo and I guess it could work with this too? I found also Microsoft SyncToy, never tried it though...
Can I get my tasks listed on Android today screen like on WinMo? I need to have be reminded of my tasks, otherwise I would spend ½ of my day reading at XDA and not doing any of the things Im supposed to do...
Any comments and help is appreciated... Thanks!

HTC Sync comes with the phone, I also had some contacts stored on my company mail but I've started migrating to gmail because the really really neat integration and extremely useful features.

I don't use any software for editing just for opening the docs on my smartphone so I can't help you here but I'm fairly sure you can

Yes you can, there are vagarious free apps on the market that even offer feature widgets/notes for the screens
Hi there!
Did you already buy a Desire? I've used winmob before and you sound like you're totally schooled at Outlook with usb sync. HTC has exchange service support and you can sync through usb, It was long time ago since I ever used active sync but a friend of mine use it on Desire and he was not satisfied.
There is calendarpad that can show on start screen as activities or regular day view. Editing documents are thought to be done through Google docs as it is thought to be faster than a full scale office program on the phone. You can other wise get quick office premium for editing offline.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

Have you thought about using Google Apps for Domains, so that you can use your own domain with Google services?

Looking for a password app

I got too many damn passwords at work. I would love an app that I can use to put in my passwords, that is itself password protected.
Hopefully something that can backup to dropbox or something like that.
Any ideas?
I know you've see all the 49¢ app posts. I think you'll find it there

Yea, saw one there, but that requires a $20 desktop app as well. No thanks.
Really! $20 that's the catch , but would you want something free protecting your bank and credit passwords

it does not require the desktop app, it works by itself
http://keepass.info/ best I've ever found. Open source, you don't have your passwords stored on anyone else's servers, you can add a 'key file' and on and on. Oh ya IT'S FREE!

Try mSecure.
Mi nuh tek intimidation
Loaded up Pocket, which seems really nice, even has a desktop client I can use. Stores the encrypted file on dropbox and can sync between the two.
I would suggest Keeper ( and its free ).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...mNvbS5jYWxscG9kLmFuZHJvaWRfYXBwcy5rZWVwZXIiXQ..
I pay for Lastpass. $12 per year. I use it on all my desktops and mobile devices. I like the lastpass dolphin browser plugin and it autofills user name and password for me.
At work, IT uses keypass for all of their secret data so I have that on my phone too and and I keep the database synced up with a file syncing program.

I can't live without this app. I love the desktop version. Best of all, it's FREE!
Install this app, save the database file to dropbox and you can access/sync all your passwords on your phone and desktop.
How safe is using an app like this on a rooted device with a custom rom?

Sharing Google Drive Access with Apps...

Is there any inherent risks in allowing applications to have access to your Google Drive? It sure is handy for apps to read/write directly to GDrive, but I wonder about the risks.
Any thoughts on this?

What? No opinions??
Id say there is a risk. Which is why you are asked if it is a trusted source. If you are just doing it for a file manager similar things it Might be Better to use a networked share from a PC. Like cifs or sshfs instead of clouds and dropboxes.
Thanks.
The reason I asked was b/c I was using Kingsoft Office (a MS Office-type app) to edit a personal doc I store in Google Drive. Since I needed to get the edits done, I "allowed" access. Then I reconsidered, thinking - who knows who Kingsoft is? Who know what they might do with access to my Google account (whatever level of access that is)?
So I immediately removed access to my Google Drive, changed my Google account password, and put the doc in my Dropbox account - which I never use and is empty except for this one doc. I pointed Kingsoft to Dropbox. So now I have what I want - universal access to a specific doc from a couple of different apps on different platforms.
I think I am OK at this point. I don't ever expect to use my Dropbox for anything besides this one doc, since I use Google doc for everything else that I do.
have you thought if double auth for your gmail account?

I used double-auth for my Google account a few years back, and there was something about it that was a major PIA. Don't recall what that was. But I think a new, very strong password should do the trick.
At least I hope so...
