Hi, would like to upgrade my T-Mobile UK Vario II to WM6, not worried about the warranty etc, just wanna get a performance / reliability boost as I have not been at all impressed by WM5! Would prefer the ROM to include all the basics like Java etc, would like to make it fairly simple to get going.
Last time I looked a lot of people seemed to think the 'black' rom was a good one, but I know things change quick here, can anyone tell me what they'd recommend?
Thanks!
I'm using HTC ROM on my T-mobile MDA Vario II for few months. In my opinion, it's a most stable ROM I've tried.

Have fun
I'm currently using the Black Satin rom, along with radio 1.54. Working pretty nicely so far.
Watch out for how you get the T-Mobile UK settings back on though - using HTC's own WM6 setting installer device sets up the T-Mobile Internet connection with a proxy for some dumb reason. I was pulling my hair out over Windows Live not working full stop and really slow internet access for a while.
Thanks for the ideas!.... main advantage of black over HTC's official is it's been streamlined, cut down, am I right?

Putting anything in here leads to intermittent connection problems.
Thought I would let you all know!
OK, have done the upgrade as well (Everything is working hunky dooooreee) but this is really going to sound dumb. I upgraded but the splash screen when I turn on my Vario 2 mentions AT & T ?? Does anyone know how to change it back to T-mobile ?

This is the way how to change your splashscreens back to TMob:
1) Download the TMob splashscreens from the net (or ask somebody to send it to you, also you can dump a TMob ROM to get those splashscreens)
2) Use this tutorial to flash the spashscreens to your device. This flashing will only flash the splashscreens so you will not lose any data. Be careful though and do what tutorial says (you can always brick your device if you do not know what are you doing).
Thanks all... got it all working with Schap's WM6 in the end, it does all that localization stuff for you automatically, very nice!
Interesting 6630boy, no usr / pass?... I'll have to try it. I'm sure last time I had em talk me through it on my other phone they were getting me to put a usr/pass combo in there...
This Schap's WM6 is absolutely awesome, basically everything that was screwy in the T-Mobile WM5 works, and works quickly enough to be cheerful about!
I ALMOST like Windows Mobile now, heh...
Yeah what's up with that?... on the t-mob site's manual it says:
Select connection type
* Press the Select a modem drop down list.
* Press Cellular Line (GPRS , 3G).
* Press Next.
The APN name general.t-mobile.uk must be in lower case letters.
If you selected the connection type Generic IrDA in step 6, you are now asked to key in a dial-up number. Key in *99# and go to step 8.
7
Enter APN name
* Press the Access point name input field and key in general.t-mobile.uk
* Press Next.
8
Enter username
* Press the User name input field and key in user
9
Enter password
* Press the Password input field and key in one2one

I have a Cingular 8525 which i recently upgraded to:
Rom version: Pro BLACK 2.5 (Cingular Version)
Radio Version 1.40.30.00
So far everything seems to work nice except my PDA connect. The only way I can get on the net is by using the Media Net settings. I have checked the My ISP settings and they seem to be perfect:
Access Point: isp.cingular
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
But whenever I changed my connection settings to My ISP, it can't connect to the web. It says locating for a about a minute then just says The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. I thought it was the radio ROM so I switched from 1.41 to 1.40. But I still am having the issue. Does anyone know what step I might be missing?
Thank you!
Hmmm, this worked for me, try this link I don't know how to make the link shorter, but this will take you to the proper config.

I have the same issue. All programs using gprs EXCEPT for PIE work using [email protected]prs.com. Is anyone running Black 2.5 using [email protected] and not media net?
Steps I took to set up ispda are:
1)I name the new conection My ISP, I select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
2) Access point name: isp.cingular
3) User name: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1 (domain blank)
Advanced tab TCP/IP leave Use server-assigned IP, Server tab leave use server-assigned addresses.
4) Hit Finish
Can someone shed some light on why only Media Net seems to work for me using this ROM? I'm able to send emails via Goodlink, connect to Agile, but for some reason PIE doesn't work with [email protected].
Thanks

Jojo are you able to send emails or use any other program that needs internet access with the pda connect settings?
I can use everything to access the net except for internet explorer, and since we're having the same problem on 2 different versions of WM6, I'm thinking we're setting up isp.cingular wrong. Any senior members want to help?

Probably because you have javascript turned off for that site. NoScript blocked it for me as well the first time thru.
I think i found the problem. I found a program in black 2.5. Start > Programs > Proxy Manager > Disable Proxy. After I ran this it seems that my PDA connect is up and running. Streaming music from www.di.fm never worked under media net only under PDA Connect and I am streaming as we speak.

After playing around some more, I noticed that after I rebooted the pda or changed a setting in the connections i would not be able to get back onto the internet unless I ran that Disable Proxy cab. I'm not to shabby with Windows mobile yet. Is there a way to run this at startup or so that whatever option keeps getting changed on reset doesn't get changed?

Thanks, Berdinkerdickle. I appreciate you taking the time to respond to this post.
Like Jojo who started this thread, I need to run the diable proxy cab every time I reboot to make PIE work using isp.cingular on Black 2.5.
This is probably a simple fix, like a toggle for a setting, or something else very basic that I haven't set up properly.
I'm stumped. I've spent hours trying to figure it out.
Hey guys I was having the same problem with my wifi network at home. GPRS/3G was working but no wifi. After reading the thread I tried disable proxy cab and now everything is working.

Now I see where I got confused.
The very reason I went to Black 2.5 is to get away from that Cing Proxy crap. (I had trouble accessing secure sites like Wells Fargo, and couldn't get ISP to work half the time) I see now that I forgot that JJ recently released a Cing version.
That's why I prefer to install the standard version and have the Cing cabs as options, and just do the Cing setting manually, or use wpbears cab for cing settings.

So I guess if I want to use pda connect on black 2.5 (cingy version), i need to use the disable proxy cab each time I reboot. Not ideal, but at least I know it works now. Is there a way to permanently disable the proxy that you know of so I can make pda connect the default and Media Net the 'option'? You've been really helpful, Berdink. Much appreciated. I'm sure other Cingy pda connect users will have the same questions.
Yes, I seem to remember reading here at xda that it can be permantly disabled or even deleted in the registry.
I won't have time to help you search until maybe latter this eve.
Best I could come up with is this thread as it relates to the proxy, and where the disable/enable proxy scripts came from and what they change in the registry when you run them. So I know what is changed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=289524&highlight=disable+proxy
But on each reboot in jj's black 2.5 cingy, by default it enables the proxy, whereas I'd like it disabled on startup and then if I want to use Media net, I can enable it. Basically, the reverse of how black 2.5 cingy loads the proxy on startup now. Not sure how simple this is...
Well, I created a workaround. I placed the disable proxy cab from the thread below in the windows/startup folder.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303906&highlight=disable+proxy
On startup it will run the disable proxy cab and you have to hit ok, but at least it's automatic each time the device is reboot.
I tried deleting the enableautodetect key in thge registry, but if you want to enable the proxy to use medianet functions and programs any time after you delete it, the enable cab simply puts the key entirely back and re-enables on startup so deleting the key's a short-term solution. for those using cingular pda connect (it's much faster internet speeds) and using jj's black 2.5 (cingy version), this is a way to work around the proxy being enabled automatically at startup.
Installed the Black Satin rom today - amazing btw! - and I've been wrestling with WLM all day. It did work at first but then stopped completely saying I was in an area with bad data coverage. ALthough I'm getting full H and 3G speeds.
After a hard reset, I tried WLM using wireless before I applied to Tmob settings and again, it worked perfectly. Drop Tmob back on and it dies again.
Anyone had this before and does anyone know of a workaround so I can have my 3G and WLM on the same handset.
Many thanks and keep up the good work. There's enough cabs on here to keep me entertained for days!!!
D-Jac
Just a quick question, are you putting in the T-Mobile settings manually, or via a CAB from here? I know most of the early CABs had a proxy hard-coded into them that could be causing problems. Let us know what country you're from and I'm sure someone'll be kind enough to give you the settings to put in. If it's UK, then:
Start > Settings > Connections > Connections
Advanced tab > Select Networks
New > Name it T-Mobile Internet and then click on the Modem tab
New > Name it T-Mobile Internet and select Cellular Line (3G)
Next > Access point is general.t-mobile.uk
Next > Finish
OK back outa few times and you're done.
Like I said, if it's not UK, this won't work! Also, if the problem isn't related to this - sorry!
Yeah, I added my T-Mob UK settings via the HTC tool that does it via ActiveSync. It added in an HTTP proxy that I couldn't delete. Strange, 'cos when I bought my Vario II it had no proxy defined.
When the proxy was there I could not access WLM. When I used a different CAB to re-add the settings, I could.
However, Agile Messenger still won't connect at all to AIM or MSN. Gawd knows why?!
Sorry - yes, I'm on T-mobile UK with web n walk. I found a cab on one of the wiki pages for T-mobile UK which is the first one I tried and didn't work. After posting here last night, I used the UK_Setup_ZD.exe program to load the T-mob settings and it still didn't work.
If anybody might be able to point me in the direction of a clean/usable T-Mob file that would be ace.
Thanks for the suggestion to load the settings manually. Before I cleared my phone of WM5, I followed the mrvanx guide to housekeep my existing setting but there is a starred out password in the connection for T-Mob internet so I couldn't set it.
As always, any help muchos appreciated!
If you're on T-Mobile UK, you don't need a username and password (trust me!). If you want, look up the details on the T-Mobile Help and Support website and it gives you step by step instructions on setting up the connections manually, that's where I got the above instructions from.
Oooh? Will try in and see how we get on. My searches have also lead me to other posts which think it may be a proxy settings, as the Tmob cab won't allow you to change the proxy.
I'll keep experimenting and will report back!
Confused Stu - YOU ARE A STAR!
Did a hard reset, back to a clean version of Satin. Input the details with no username and password and all seems to be working. Now all I need is to be able to stop it syncing every two seconds, but I shall have a mosey around the pages for the answer to that one and why I can't make it try wireless before dialling.
You've been a great help - cheers!!!
I had the same problem as you did after upgrading to Black Satin (starred out password in the T-mobile settings). I can confirm that you don't need the username or password to get it working.
Cheers,
Doogs
My hermes was working fine for the couple weeks I've had it, internet, internet sharing, everything. A couple days ago, the internet stopped working. I can still do calls, emails still seem to work (with exchange), sms is fine, although MMS is failing as well.
I have a 2nd 8525 and the same issues on that one too. I plugged my sim into a wing I had laying around, and voila, internet works. I tried all sorts of settings, tried surfing with wap.voicestream.com with the 216.155.165.50 or whatever proxy, etc.
I noticed on another forum that people in my area are having the same issues, but t-mobiles says the network is fine.
I am inclined to believe t-mobile on this one a bit, being that my Wing works fine... but neither of my 8525's (hermes) work...
One last note, when I boot up, I get a message saying the operator does not exist database, I just exit out the error and it WAS working fine even with that box, does it on both Hermes I have.
Any ideas!!!! Thanks. All help is really, really appreciated.
Mine stopped working temporarily yesterday, and started working again within an hour. Are you using the internet2.voicestream.com access point?
I'm using wap.voicestream.com -- but I had tried internet2.voicestream.com as well... are you using all the proxy settings with it (I HAVE the 19.99 unlimited data plan btw).
Both phones are using Schaps, so i'm considering flashing a different rom and seeing if that brings any new luck if I can't find any other help. But I have my main phone really well customized and would hate to have to do that.
What area are you in? I'm in South Florida (and on another thread, 2 or 3 other posters in south florida are having the same issues, weird)
With the unlimited data plan you should be able to use internet2 for all data and wap.voicestream for MMS. If you want I can post my configs that work, I just copied them from the T-Mobile Wireless configurator site using the Wing for my handset. Also, I'm from Northern Colorado.
RE: Internet:
I had an issue with t-mobile tZones back when they alowed it on smartphones... Then one day it just stopped working. about two weeks later, I finally got annoyed with them and called them.
They argued with me about tZones working for about 20 minutes and then finally found an internal memo about people using tZones to cruise the internet by accessing wap first, and once establishing a connection, usine pIE. So, You can't trust a phone company when it claims that their network is ok or that they ddin't cancel a part of your service without letting you know.

Did all of the above settings, didn't do a thing. Still same connection issue. When you go to IE and enter an address, it says "connecting... locating... opening..." and just sticks on "opening" for the page, MSN Live doesn't work or anything else either. This is all strange since it was all working fine only a few days ago.
There is some magic setting or something that is making Hermes devices not work anymore while the wing still does.
I DIDNT do the extended rom thing, would you mind explaining that a little further step by step for me?
If those settings don't work it sounds to me like something is corrupted on your phone, and you may need to do a hard reset, or installing a new rom. I haven't had any issues with Schaps 4.31 since I installed it 2 weeks ago, but it sounds like you might be.
I have 2 8525's, lol... didn't work on EITHER even with a fresh install of schaps, I even tried 4.4 with win mo 6.1 just for jollies. It's really strange though and as I said, multiple people in my area are reporting this same issue at this moment.
But I just think they made changes that a certain setting or something on the hermes doesn't like since it works on the Wing.
In fact, it's quite pissing me off, lol... really frustrating.
I would call t-mobile and find out from them. my 8525 works just fine.
yeah but you are in a different part of the country, it's actually people with Kaisers (Tilt) having the issue as well... it's the TyTn and TyTn II models that just magically aren't working, and it's all south florida. Those t-mobile bastards!
But really, the freakin Wing works, what could it possibly be!!!!!
8525 in South Florida (Miami) with same issue
As always, when I have problems with my phones I turn to xda developers and viola! Answer's to my questions. My at&t 8525 internet stopped working around 8pm Thursday night (2/7/08). I have had my T-mobile sim on this phone working fine since last July with not one problem until now. I actually did call t-mobile customer service and went through all the usual treat the customer like a dummy and tell him/her to restart, take out battery, etc etc like that never occurred to me to try...DUH! Then they tell me to talk to the IT dept at my work to see about active sync settings. And of course they do not know that I AM the senior engineer in the IT dept so I get the rare privilege to inform them of this and assure them that there is NOTHING wrong with my exchange server as everyone else in the office using active sync has no problems, it is only me on T-mobile with my unlocked 8525. They then offered to transfer me to tier 2 support. Which gave me another rare opportunity to use one of my favorite lines with customer support..... "I just want to talk to someone who knows more than me". Unfortunately work took me away from the phone and I did not get a chance to continue with tier 2 support. I will take this up later today and post any resolutions if they present themselves. But I am putting my money on this forum and the incredibly talented individuals who frequent here on a resolution to this issue instead of T-mobile. Seems to me T-mobile is sending a hidden message that they possibly do not want my business anymore. Good thing my contract us up in a few months.
Thanks to all in advance!

It's possible that the wing, since its a T-Mobile phone probably has some sort of network priority list the 8525 doesnt. try selecting under Phone > networks Tmobile and see if it sticks. Good luck!
Perhaps you should try flashing another radio. I used one a while back and could not get data working.
that's very interesting, as we are probably ALL using the same unlocked radio. Can you possibly point me in the right direction on how to do that?
radio version
I'm using Radio version 1.51. I will try flashing to the latest and see how that goes, but let me tell ya, looking at the new schap's rom I'm thinking I might just flash that bad boy, It looks awesome!

The 4.4? It's ok, I didn't notice a huge difference, and it actually seemed to run a bit slower, although I didn't have a chance to test it much.
I went to my device information, and it says radio version 1.16 - so I guess we are running different radio's and having the same issue... maybe that isn't the solution then. Could it have somethign to do with hard-spl and having it unlocked and what not?
Ok so tried 5 different radio versions, all with zero success. Ugh!!

I use this rom to fix my service. period. I just dont know how else to fix that issue.
All the other ROMs have not fixed the issues I have been having after upgrading my phone to WM6. The Rom By it self eats the batery, so Faria's Kitchen has a great little extra package in the extended rom: "Xfaria settings"
FIXED the battery drain issue.

How recent was your internet not working? And can we just install Wizard roms onto an 8525 hermes?
We are going to keep this down to 1 thread I think, we have one going pretty well on the Kaiser forum (TyTn 2) and the South Florida guys with that model are having the exact same issues.
Head over there and we can keep this all together and try and find a solution.

Does anyone has unlimited access to Web, emails with T-Mobile Web $5.99 hacked working properly?
Please help, I can't access to Internet
Adavid
Timely question as I have been wrestling with the very same issue for the past 36 hours.
My phone also has the RW 6.1 ROM and I activated T-Zones a day and a half ago. I've followed the hack instructions on "dashapps" to the letter, booted and rebooted several times, yet no internet. I either get a "$MESSAGE$..." or "you cannot access.." message when I try to connect.
I read on another HTC (non-Excalibur) board that T-Mobile has closed this loophole: can anyone definitively verify? There's a member here -- JDOGG*** something that says he works for TMo, so maybe he knows for sure.
I hate to be the noob that asks the same question that's been answered a dozen times, but... I've scoured this board and followed all the hack instructions EXACTLY -- several times -- and still no luck, so I'm at a loss for solutions.
Any and all guidance is genuinely appreciated. Thank you.
i've had the $5.99 working for quite some time working with:
autosync/exchange
iris browser/pocket IE
IM+ (IM program)
VNC viewer
also, i'm using 6.1 & followed the dashapps hack w/ no issues. not sure what else to tell you guys.
Yes, the $5.99 proxy hack doesn't work in some regions (usually those with the highest data traffic.) For everyone else, it works perfectly, with the exception of a few apps that aren't proxy aware.
A related question which may help solve my issue:
Within "Connections" there are two GPRS choices: #5, "GPRS Settings" and #6, "GPRS". For "GPRS Settings" I have the option of authenticating using PAP or CHAP: which do I use?
Also, is there a preferred setting for "Disconnect GPRS When Dropped"? (Preferred in the sense that it may effect my ability to connect to the internet.)
Thanks again.

$5.99 Setting for WM6.1.....URGENT
ralph1o1 cal you write it down your phone set up?
I called T-mobile Yesterday to do the setting and the Lady toll me that I have to get the $19.99 plan to get access with WM6.1, I'm pretty sure a few peoples of "T-mobile support" doesn't have a idea when you change OS doesn't come with the original phone.
If you can bring me the setting I appreciated.
By the way..I went back to WM6 to try and I had access to T-Zones thru "winwap" but I didn't have the $5.99 plan to try it.

Please Help To Set Up Internet With $5.99 Plan
:d
My GPRS is set to PAP, but the other settings mentioned are the same. Here are my settings:
Under GPRS, I have three connections:
The first and third are labeled T-Mobile Data and T-Mobile WModem Link and are both setup the same:
Connects to: WAP Network
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com
Other settings are blank, except for the DNS entries are all 0.0.0.0.
The second connection is labeled T-Mobile MMS:
Connects to: Work
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com
Other settings are blank, except for the DNS entries are all 0.0.0.0.
Now onto the proxies...I have two setup:
Tzones Proxy:
Connects from: WAP Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
Username and Password are both blank.
Tzones Proxy2:
Connects from: Work
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
Username and Password are both blank.
I live in Ohio and it works all over the state and Michigan, if that matters at all.
Let us know if these settings work for you.

let me get this straight...you put a cooked copy of 6.1 on your phone....you then call tmobile and tell them that your new unsupported cooked rom wont let you access the whole net on the 5.99 hack plan like the wm6 did.
you do realize that the whole concept of what we are doing here has totally escaped you.
Yah just follow the instructions below and you should be able to access it.
Thanks guyz....
Thanks to you gauyz....jdoggraz and unasari1

Wow double posting...
Well I need help. Ive had this problem for WEEKS now. I need MMS. dunno if its the settings or the cab or wat. anyone with the combo help.
Just so you know, this does not belong in the ROM development thread so don't be upset if a moderator moves it.
Have you tried changing your MMS settings? Does data work on the phone? If you are using the stock SMS program, you should have no problems getting MMS to work just fine. First you will need to set up your Data connection:
1 - Tap Start > Settings > Connections > Connections
2 - Tap the Advanced tab > Select Networks.
3 - Under "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet...", click New...
4 - Under the General tab, type "T-Mobile Data"
5 - Under the Modem tab, tap New... and type "Data" for the name of the connection and select "Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)" from the drop down box. Then tap Next.
6 - Enter "epc.tmobile.com" for the Access Point Name (APN) and tap Next.
7 - Leave the username and password fields blank. Tap Finish.
8 - Under the Proxy Settings, check to select "This network connects to the Internet" and also check "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet"
9 - For the proxy server, type 216.155.165.50 and then tap Advanced.
10 - Tap HTTP and change the port to 8080. Tap OK.
11 - Tap WAP and type 216.155.165.50 and enter 8080 for the port. Tap OK.
12 - Tap OK until you return to the Today screen.

Once you do this, you will need to set up your MMS:
1 - Tap Start > Settings > Connections > Connections
2 - Tap the Advanced Tab > Select Networks
3 - Under "Programs that automatically connect to a private network...", select "T-Mobile Data", which is the SAME connection you are using for your data.
4 - Tap OK until you return to the today screen.
5 - Go to your messaging and tap Menu > MMS Configuration.
6 - Tap the Servers tab > New.
7 - Enter MMS in the server name field.
8 - Enter 216.155.165.50 in the gateway field and 8080 in the port field.
9 - Enter http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms in the Server address field.
10 - Select "T-Mobile Data" from the drop down list and select WAP 2.0. Tap OK to save your settings.
11 - Scroll to MMS and tap Set As Default. Tap OK to save your settings.

After a soft reset, this should get your MMS working. Send an MMS to yourself to test if everything is working.
First I would like to ask you what phone do u have and for what company is that phone phone. I can tell from your Tmobile sign that you have tmobile. Also what rom do u have. Im using Mighty rom right now. Also I have Arcsoft For Tmobile cab(lastest one) installed on the phone. Do I need it or no.
Forget it. It worked!!!!!!!! OMG THANKKKKK U. YOUR THE BESSSSSSSSSSSSSSST. U know how long im looking for my MMS to work. I tried tons of things. THANK GOODNESS. someone finally helped me fix this. good work freakingwilly
I'm surprised noone noticed he said a Sprint TP2 (CDMA) on T-Mobile service (GSM). This is simply a prank thread, a CDMA phone will not work at all with a GSM carrier.

2 radios.
Well, that's a first for me. So the Sprint TP2 still has all the GSM equipment inside AND a sim card slot? Kinda nifty. Apologies to the OP then.
I also came across that bit about the Sprint TP2 having GSM/UMTS and CDMA/EVDO radios. That interests be a great deal, because I'm pretty sure that ATT runs on 850MHz for GSM and 1900MHz for HSDPA. I also believe I noticed those frequencies were supported by the Sprint TP2's (Gobi?) radios, but require 2 separate Oli unlockers to use on a stateside GSM carrier, and hopefully be able to utilize Verision's 3G network in places where ATT's does not exist. Verizon has EVDO Rev A in the vast majority of backcountry places where I like to kick it sometimes in the contiguous 48. When I first read about "Gobi" a year or two ago, I thought that it was pretty frickin' nifty.
So far through my asking, somebody said it wouldn't work on gsm/edge or umts/..., and another said that only 2G would work. I like having my about-to-be HSPA+ in a 30 mile circle around my house and other sufficiently populated areas, and I got Cingular back in 2003 so they're pretty chill about when I pay my bill and sometimes I manage bill-eliminating account credits when they screw up my account/orders and crap. It's crept up from $60 a month when I first got my wizard with unlimited data/sms/mms to $103 and change. The idea of being able to have my original Cingular SIM card in a CDMA phone and get all of my HSPA 7.2 goodness when it's around/better battery life when not using data and operating on GSM, and use EVDO Rev A when I need something faster than EDGE for tethering. Best I've gotten on EDGE is 15 kB/s.
If the CDMA TP2's can be that kind of awesome thing described above, I might work more to maintain a simultaneous account with Verizon postpaid when I go on road trips with some no contract goodness, and temporarily disconnect my no contract ATT postpaid when I do. That would be seriously awesome. If it can't be done on a flavor of the Rhodium, does anybody think that the next version of the real sliding qwerty with a tilting screen HTC device will be able to operate on all of ATT's frequencies, as well as Verizon's? I saw something about the Mondrian, but it doesn't have a keyboard and is therefore disqualified.
Also, not really excited about WM7 or Android because I don't see any Android sat nav apps that use an enormous map image on one's microSD card instead of being reliant on a data connection for maps, and WM7 is supa'shaky for local maps sat nav since it's not even out yet, and both TomTom and Garmin no longer manufacture their WinMo products, which is retarded since the garmin boxes run on CE and it's $100 of almost pure profit, even with an enormous piracy rate. If Android gets a ballistics calculator, herb strain guide, and local map sat nav with preferably NAVTEQ maps I might just jump ship if I can keep it from communicating with Google. I don't want Google knowing knowing any more about me than they already do. I've had Gmail for a long time, and the ads aren't quite creepy but they're ubertargeted.
9 - For the proxy server, type 216.165.155.50 and then tap Advanced.
10 - Tap HTTP and change the port to 8080. Tap OK.
11 - Tap WAP and type 216.165.155.50 and enter 8080 for the port. Tap OK.
8 - Enter 216.155.165.50 in the gateway field and 8080 in the port field.
9 - Enter http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms in the Server address field.
Why in one part do you have 216.165.155 and the next 216.155.165?
Is that a typo? If so which is correct?
Thanks

Hypocracy much?
I know you tried to contribute to the answer, but you lack the necessary details that would be required. My original post may have been long, but the first thing that the OP said was that they got it working and left thanks. Continuing to reply to the thread (especially with these kinds of comments) are unnecessary and only bump up old threads.
Just like mom always said "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."
Request to close please.
