T-Mobile Web $5.99 on WM6.1 "Rickwatt" - HTC Excalibur

Does anyone has unlimited access to Web, emails with T-Mobile Web $5.99 hacked working properly?
Please help, I can't access to Internet
Adavid

Timely question as I have been wrestling with the very same issue for the past 36 hours.
My phone also has the RW 6.1 ROM and I activated T-Zones a day and a half ago. I've followed the hack instructions on "dashapps" to the letter, booted and rebooted several times, yet no internet. I either get a "$MESSAGE$..." or "you cannot access.." message when I try to connect.
I read on another HTC (non-Excalibur) board that T-Mobile has closed this loophole: can anyone definitively verify? There's a member here -- JDOGG*** something that says he works for TMo, so maybe he knows for sure.
I hate to be the noob that asks the same question that's been answered a dozen times, but... I've scoured this board and followed all the hack instructions EXACTLY -- several times -- and still no luck, so I'm at a loss for solutions.
Any and all guidance is genuinely appreciated. Thank you.

i've had the $5.99 working for quite some time working with:
autosync/exchange
iris browser/pocket IE
IM+ (IM program)
VNC viewer
also, i'm using 6.1 & followed the dashapps hack w/ no issues. not sure what else to tell you guys.

Yes, the $5.99 proxy hack doesn't work in some regions (usually those with the highest data traffic.) For everyone else, it works perfectly, with the exception of a few apps that aren't proxy aware.

A related question which may help solve my issue:
Within "Connections" there are two GPRS choices: #5, "GPRS Settings" and #6, "GPRS". For "GPRS Settings" I have the option of authenticating using PAP or CHAP: which do I use?
Also, is there a preferred setting for "Disconnect GPRS When Dropped"? (Preferred in the sense that it may effect my ability to connect to the internet.)
Thanks again.

thanks in advance

i live in ft. lauderdale pretty close to miami and it works fine.

$5.99 Setting for WM6.1.....URGENT
ralph1o1 cal you write it down your phone set up?
I called T-mobile Yesterday to do the setting and the Lady toll me that I have to get the $19.99 plan to get access with WM6.1, I'm pretty sure a few peoples of "T-mobile support" doesn't have a idea when you change OS doesn't come with the original phone.
If you can bring me the setting I appreciated.
By the way..I went back to WM6 to try and I had access to T-Zones thru "winwap" but I didn't have the $5.99 plan to try it.

I Love Wm6.1 And I Don't Want Go Back.............
Please Help To Set Up Internet With $5.99 Plan
:d

My GPRS is set to PAP, but the other settings mentioned are the same. Here are my settings:
Under GPRS, I have three connections:
The first and third are labeled T-Mobile Data and T-Mobile WModem Link and are both setup the same:
Connects to: WAP Network
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com
Other settings are blank, except for the DNS entries are all 0.0.0.0.
The second connection is labeled T-Mobile MMS:
Connects to: Work
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com
Other settings are blank, except for the DNS entries are all 0.0.0.0.
Now onto the proxies...I have two setup:
Tzones Proxy:
Connects from: WAP Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
Username and Password are both blank.
Tzones Proxy2:
Connects from: Work
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
Username and Password are both blank.
I live in Ohio and it works all over the state and Michigan, if that matters at all.
Let us know if these settings work for you.

let me get this straight...you put a cooked copy of 6.1 on your phone....you then call tmobile and tell them that your new unsupported cooked rom wont let you access the whole net on the 5.99 hack plan like the wm6 did.
you do realize that the whole concept of what we are doing here has totally escaped you.

Yah just follow the instructions below and you should be able to access it.

Thanks guyz....
Thanks to you gauyz....jdoggraz and unasari1
I will try to setting on the phone.

I really wants to thanks to "ralph1o1".....

internet plans for tmobile users

hey guys, this question is for tmobile users. ive called tmobile, and nobody knows what theyre talking about. im trying to figure out the difference between the 5.99 tzones plan and the 29.99 total internet package. i guess i just wanna figure out what i can do with the 5.99 plan. thanks
ps. anybody hear when tmobile is gonna release the wm6 update? ive been hearing that wm6 is also gonna have office mobile, anybody hear this? thanks
omar
tmobile is in the process of locking down the 5.99 plan so depending on where you live the results may very. some are getting unlimite internet with NO plan whatsoever and others are getting full internet with the 5.99 plan but still no proxy.
its SUPPOSED to work like this: the 5.99 plan allows wap access to mobile wap sites, email and sms. The proxy currently allows http browsing and limited streams/downloads but this may be locked down at some time if they can ever figure out how to allow email and wap but not http. be aware that java apps like opera mini as well as msn messenger/mail will NOT work with the proxy.
there is an option to the total internet plan. you can sign up for the blackberry plan for 19.99 which gives unlimited access but does not include tmobile email or hotspots. you can however set up blackberry connect which i have no experience with but some here seem to like it.
go to howardforums.com for the best info on tmobile plans.
thanks, chris
they wont tell you the proxy. just order it and don't say that you have a smartphone. the 5.99$ plan is great. the settings are all over the internet.
they always want to argue with you that this is not for pocket pc and smartphone users. but who cares.
They shut me down and I called and complained. I was told that I would have to use their $29.99 plan for internet, and the Dash was incompatible with T-Zones ($5.99) internet plan. I told them when I bought the phone the salesman signed me up for T-Zones, and if the Dash didn't support it why was there a T-Zone button on the Dash? They turned me back on to the $5.99 plan. I get to every site I need to get to with T-Zones. If they try and shut you down complain, and tell them that the Dash has a dedicated T-Zone button on it right next to the camera and email button.
I'm using the same setup with my Treo 680. I just swap out my Dash's SIM card and put it in my Treo. I go to preferences>network>and select T-Zones and it connects. I can surf, and send email.
In the states, I had to upgrade to the $29.95 plan. It includes the $5.99 plan, plus gives me hotspots for use with my laptop when I travel. It's been worth it. And allows me to use the phone as an ISP modem as a last resort. I did need to add the proxy for T-Zones to work properly.
The problem is T-Mobile is turing off T-Zones on Dash owners, it has nothing to do with their wifi hot spot connections. They want to charge $29.99 to use their EDGE network unlimited. They can't get away with this because they put a T-Zone button on the Dash, therefore allowing Dash customers to get the $5.99 plan T-Zone plan. They turned me right back on when I told them that they have a T-Zone button on the phone, it's not my problem they've just decided that Dash customers should pay $29.99 for their slow EDGE network. That little pink t-zone button on the Dash is biting them in the @$$. They've got to honor the $5.99 price.
There's a lot of misinformation here... here's how it is:
The $5.99 T-Zones plan is very limited. You get weather updates, TMobile account info, movie showtimes, news headlines and a few other similar offerings. You don't get email, or unlimited browsing. Very basic and only works with the WAP browser on the Dash, not IE.
For quite some time, if you had T-Zones, you could set up IE with the T-Zones proxy info and get unlimited browsing without upgrading your plan. I could also access my Exchange email using the email application on my phone. It was great when it worked for me, but at some point it stopped -- I called customer support and the guy explained that it wasn't supposed to work this way and they were in the process of upgrading their systems to enforce the T-Zones level of service, and that I had to upgrade to the Total Internet package. Some users are still able to utilize the T-Zones proxy settings for this, but eventually it won't be possible for anyone.
The Total Access is over-priced. You have to subscribe to the HotSpot service to get Internet access, priced separately but only available as a bundle. I don't like it as I never use the HotSpot (Starbucks/FedEx/Kinkos WiFi) service but have to pay for it to get internet. That is until recently -- a user posted that if you go to your settings at the TMobile web site, change your phone type to a Blackberry, and then add the Internet plan priced at $20. I did this and it works, without any proxy settings, but as with the TZones thing, who knows for how long.

thats crap dude. they just tell this to you. don't tell them that you have the dash. just order t-zones and configure it manually. after that everything http based works great. socket transfers are blocked. thats right. but who cares...
I purchased my Dash last month and my salesman told me I only needed the Blackberry plan (19.99/mo) for unlimited Internet access (the 29.99 total access plan was needed for push e-mail only). I did have an opportunity to talk with Tmo customer support and they, as my salesman warned, told me I had the wrong plan, that my phone was not compatible with the Blackberry service but when I was firm about not needing their total-access package I was left alone. I think the cost of the package they push depends on the cost and capabilities of the phone your purchased, not what is actually needed for Internet access.

Totally agree, I get every web page I need and all my email using the T-Zone plan. They're just trying to get more $$ out of us. It works, just configure it and you're good to go.
Um... sorry 'dude', it's the way it is. If it's working for you, great, it won't forever.

I did previsously have it configured with TZones (read the post) and it worked -- then it stopped and can no longer be configured with the TZones proxy settings.

you need to call T-Mobile, I bet they shut you down. They did the same thing to me. They gave me BS that their servers did updates and found Dash owners were getting internet, and they shouldn't be. They said they had to turn it off. I said that I was sold a Dash with T-ZONE and it worked fine up until that point, there's a reason why there's a T-Zone button on the Dash. They probably turned u off, tell them to turn you back on.
This happended before I got my Dash, I had the SDA at the time. They actually offer TZones with the Dash, it works with the WAP browser (the one that comes up when you push the TZones button) but not IE.

OK! I am sorry to say to you that this is incorrect
I JUST yesterday flashed to kavana rom...I had to play with the internet settings for awhile...but ALL my JAVA apps do work (btw I LOVE Opera Mini, I'm new to it) Gmail APP works...pocket IE works, EMAIL works (which was the *****y one to get working for me) everything internet related works...I can download files and the whole shabang...and I am on the $5.99 plan
here is a tutorial of how to get your internet working (I did this tutorial step-by-step and I can confirm it works 100%)
Using the web with just the $5.99 plan
Credit for the below information goes to the members of Howardforums.com
Unlimited internet with the $5.99 T-MobileWeb service
The $29.99/month T-Mobile Total Internet package is not required to have unlimited internet access on the Dash, instead the $5.99 T-MobileWeb service is all you need. Note the following limitations to the T-MobileWeb internet service:
1. The internet applications on your device will need to have an option to specify a connection to a proxy server, if it doesn't have this option then the application most likely will not be able to access the internet.
2. The following applications will not work over T-MobileWeb: MSN Messenger, Agile Messenger (without the proxy option), some streaming media, Hotmail, Pocket MSN, and Java applications.
To setup the internet connection over T-MobileWeb follow these instructions:
1. Add the $5.99 T-MobileWeb service to your current voice plan (it may take up to 72 hours to activate, but typically takes less than 24 hours).
2. Follow the below instructions to setup the Dash:
1. Add the T-MobileWeb (T-Zones) Proxy Connection
Start Menu -> Settings -> Connections -> Proxy -> Menu -> Add
Description: T-Zones Proxy
Connects from: Wap Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy (name : port): 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
User name: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Press Done.
2. Configure the Existing Data Connection
Start Menu -> Settings -> Connections -> GPRS -> T-Mobile Data -> Menu -> Edit
Connects to: WAP Network
Access point: wap.voicestream.com
User name: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
IP address: <blank>
Press Done.
3. Configure Pocket Internet Explorer
Start Menu -> Internet Explorer -> Menu -> Tools -> Options -> Connections
Uncheck "Automatically detect settings".
Select Network: The Internet (Must be set to "The Internet" to work over WiFi. Try "WAP Network" if you're having trouble over the EDGE/GPRS connection)
Press Done.
4. Configure Messaging (follow these steps for POP or IMAP email accounts that have been manually setup)
Start Menu -> Messaging -> Highlight your email account -> Menu -> Settings -> Press Next twice
Select Network: WAP Network
Press Next three times then Finish.
The following applies to email on WM6:
In Settings/Connections/GPRS/T-Mobile Data: Tmobile Data
Connects to: Wap Network
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com
AND add another GPRS option:
T-Mobile Data2
Connects to: Work
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com
Then create TWO Proxies:
Settings/Connections/Proxy
First Proxy:
Name:Tzones Proxy
Connects from: WAP Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
Second Proxy:
Name Tzones Proxy2
Connects from: Work
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
In connections, click menu, then advance and set ALL connections to AUTOMATIC
To get the Exchange Server working:
(Exchange Server settings)
Options/Advanced
Connection: Internet
To get Pop mail accounts working:
(This will need to be done for each account you have)
Options/Account settings/Advanced Server Settings
Network Connection: Work
NOTE! The option to select which way to connect isnt available until you finish creating the POP account (go back in and change to: Work)
To get IE working:
(In IE)Menu/Tools/Options/Connections
Check "Automatically Detect Settings"
Select Network: WAP Network
Thanks for posting those settings. Since upgrading my Dash to Windows Mobile 6.1 I could no longer use the internet using the T-Zones plan (I could send and receive email only). With the above settings I can use the internet and email, thanks again for posting these!!
FYI there is no need for the $29.99 plan. I have a $19.99 unlimited internet plan that allows me to do everything, and INCLUDES hotspot access. Maybe they just messed up on mine, but I have no problems with it, unlimited internet and push email (but not through tmobile email servers -- i have my own).
All you guys need is the total internet add-on for 19.99 and just set up the vpn or run the automatic wizard setting for tmobile.

NO MORE FREE Internet with T-Mobile WM6 Upgrade

I have installed the Beta when it was leaked out and installed the final release when it was leaked out and my internet worked with all of them. This morning however, the day T-Mobile officially released the upgrade, I noticed my internet and e-mail stopped working. I added the T-MobileWeb for $5.99 package to my plan a few months back when T-Mobile shut down free internet access in my area (Dallas, TX) and that allowed me unlimited internet access without having to pay for the T-Mobile Total Internet Add-on for $29.99.
I have tried every thing I can think of to troubleshoot the phone except for restoring back to factory settings. Is anyone else having the same issue as me? Maybe T-Mobile figured out that people are getting unlimited internet access on their phones with the T-MobileWeb package (which is only suppose to let you use T-Zones to access premium content, not use IE) and are now blocking it?
Any input would be great!

I had the same issue this morning with trying to access the Internet using my Hermes (the only reason I'm even viewing this forum is because I used to own a Dash). I am running LVWS WM6 upgrade and went back to default settings but stayed on WM6. I was also on the $5.99 plan. I upgraded to the $29.99 plan and after 1 hour of waiting, got access to the Internet and my work's Direct Push system. Looks like T-Mobile is really going after the free users.
Murad
I too have the Dash with the Official WM6 ROM installed. This morning there was no data connection. Have been using "The Internet" under Settings>Connections>GPRS>T-Mobile Data.
I still had the T-Zones proxy in there, so I changed the above setting to "WAP Network" and I can get Exchange mail, and IE, but NOT Pop mail accounts. (Remember, the Pop client itself does not allow for a "WAP Network" setting in the WM6 Official release).
Two out of three is not bad, but not a full solution.
Maybe if this persists, I'll have to revert to the WM6 Beta version, as that software had the WAP option in the Pop setup.
Anyone have any ideas?
But what I dont understand is why did it stop working today? I have been using the leaked final release for over 2 weeks and never had a problem, and now it doesnt seems to work.
I remember a while back I read a post (maybe on this site, dont remember) that talked about settings up a Proxy on the phone so that you could get internet access with the T-MobileWeb package, but I can't find that information anymore.
The last time ActiveSynch talked with the Exchange server was @ 1:59 AM this morning (5/9/2007)

In addition to above these need to be set:
Start/Connections/Menu/Advanced
All should be set to Automatic
PIE/Menu/Tools/Options/Connections/
Auto Detect should be Checked
Select Network: WAP Network
1. With these setting you can switch automatically from GPRS to WIFI seamlessly.
2. At the Windows Media Mobile site, Windows Media Player will play streaming video.
3. You can also connect to T-Mobile Web (http:/wap.myvoicestream.com
4. You can send MMS or pictures via POP email
These setting will allow virtually everything to work with the $4.99/5.99 T-Mobile Web Plan. Using alternate setting can work for somethings but not all.

Yeah, just use the proxy and all is well.
Everytime TMob does this, people freak out.
I looked closer at my settings. I had actually set my Dash up exactly as you listed.
This has changed:
"In addition to above these need to be set:
Start/Connections/Menu/Advanced
All should be set to Automatic"
These WERE set to automatic, by myself before today. I have always set these to Autmatic since my MPx200. I just looked at them and now I have:
Internet Connection: T-Mobile Data
Work Connection: Automatic
WAP Connection: T-Mobile MMS
Secure WAP Connection: Automatic
Changed them back, and Voila!! Everything works except my Pop mail.
Looks like T-Mobile pinged us with a change?????? Hopefully they wont do it again......
Thanks for the fix, qwikndrty.
UPDATE: Just tried changing T-Mobile Data to "The Internet" again. 4:00pm Local time. ALL WORKS AGAIN. Dallas TX area. Who knows?!!!!
My settings under Start/Connections/Menu/Advanced were changed from Automatic too.
I just applied all of the settings above and still nothing :-( I'm going to call T-Mobile and say T-Zones doesnt work (even though it does) and everytime they do something to try and fix it I am just going to say it still isnt working. Maybe the guy will get tired of not being able to fix it and just change something to allow me to have internet access.
UPDATE: Just tried changing T-Mobile Data to "The Internet" again. ALL WORKS AGAIN. 4:00pm Local time. Dallas TX area. Who knows?!!!!
Is there a setting to stop T-Mobile changing things?
Wasnt there another address besides wap.voicestream.com that used to be be used? like wap.tmobileweb.com or something like that? I used to have an MDA and I remember there being a second address for one of the connections.
Anyone know how to log into Windows Live? Internet Explorer works fine tho.

Anyone in Dallas, TX using a WM6 Dash with the $5.99 T-MobilWeb service on their account have internet access right now?
I have the $5.99 T-MobileWeb service on my plan (instead of paying for the $29.99 Unlimited Internet) and cannot access the internet anymore. Anyone else able to access it right now with the same setup as me?
No More Internet Via Tzones without proxy
I have the Tzones 5.99. And I too lost internet about 1:00 a.m., I am in Sacramento Cal. I had to use the proxy 216.155.165.50:8080 for Internet but no more Live Mail
Hermes WM6 Black 3.01
Mine went out this morning and I still can't get it back!! Cant use it with the proxy either!!!!
you guys make it sound like its the rom thats preventing internet from working...
truth of the matter is that tmobile has been upgrading and securing their network in the usa piece by piece to prevent data abuse...
with 3g coming out on their network soon, they're making a much better effort of giving proper privileges according to the plan a customer subscribes to...
no more free lunch...it's sad but true...check out howardforums and you'll see many discussions about this

My first post and just wanted to say thanks. I bought my Dash over a week ago and have been getting free internet. Sometime yesterday they shut it down so I ordered the $5.99 package. I got a text message confirmation from them this morning that the new package was activated so I entered all the information above and I am now back up and running
Right now I can either get the internet and mail2web to work or I can have my pop mail work. If I use the proxy, internet/mail2web work w/o proxy I can get pop mail.
Pretty bizarre

Then all you have to do is set up a second GPRS setting:
T-Mobile Data2
Connects to: Work
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com
AND then, make one change with EACH Pop e-mail account:
Open your e-mail account, then Menu\Tools\Options\Account Settings\Next\Next\Next\Next\Advanced Server Settings\Network Connection
Change to: "Work"
This way you do not have to keep switching GPRS settings back and forth.

Windows Live Messenger vs TMobile settings

Installed the Black Satin rom today - amazing btw! - and I've been wrestling with WLM all day. It did work at first but then stopped completely saying I was in an area with bad data coverage. ALthough I'm getting full H and 3G speeds.
After a hard reset, I tried WLM using wireless before I applied to Tmob settings and again, it worked perfectly. Drop Tmob back on and it dies again.
Anyone had this before and does anyone know of a workaround so I can have my 3G and WLM on the same handset.
Many thanks and keep up the good work. There's enough cabs on here to keep me entertained for days!!!
D-Jac
Just a quick question, are you putting in the T-Mobile settings manually, or via a CAB from here? I know most of the early CABs had a proxy hard-coded into them that could be causing problems. Let us know what country you're from and I'm sure someone'll be kind enough to give you the settings to put in. If it's UK, then:
Start > Settings > Connections > Connections
Advanced tab > Select Networks
New > Name it T-Mobile Internet and then click on the Modem tab
New > Name it T-Mobile Internet and select Cellular Line (3G)
Next > Access point is general.t-mobile.uk
Next > Finish
OK back outa few times and you're done.
Like I said, if it's not UK, this won't work! Also, if the problem isn't related to this - sorry!
Yeah, I added my T-Mob UK settings via the HTC tool that does it via ActiveSync. It added in an HTTP proxy that I couldn't delete. Strange, 'cos when I bought my Vario II it had no proxy defined.
When the proxy was there I could not access WLM. When I used a different CAB to re-add the settings, I could.
However, Agile Messenger still won't connect at all to AIM or MSN. Gawd knows why?!
Sorry - yes, I'm on T-mobile UK with web n walk. I found a cab on one of the wiki pages for T-mobile UK which is the first one I tried and didn't work. After posting here last night, I used the UK_Setup_ZD.exe program to load the T-mob settings and it still didn't work.
If anybody might be able to point me in the direction of a clean/usable T-Mob file that would be ace.
Thanks for the suggestion to load the settings manually. Before I cleared my phone of WM5, I followed the mrvanx guide to housekeep my existing setting but there is a starred out password in the connection for T-Mob internet so I couldn't set it.
As always, any help muchos appreciated!
If you're on T-Mobile UK, you don't need a username and password (trust me!). If you want, look up the details on the T-Mobile Help and Support website and it gives you step by step instructions on setting up the connections manually, that's where I got the above instructions from.
Oooh? Will try in and see how we get on. My searches have also lead me to other posts which think it may be a proxy settings, as the Tmob cab won't allow you to change the proxy.
I'll keep experimenting and will report back!
Confused Stu - YOU ARE A STAR!
Did a hard reset, back to a clean version of Satin. Input the details with no username and password and all seems to be working. Now all I need is to be able to stop it syncing every two seconds, but I shall have a mosey around the pages for the answer to that one and why I can't make it try wireless before dialling.
You've been a great help - cheers!!!
I had the same problem as you did after upgrading to Black Satin (starred out password in the T-mobile settings). I can confirm that you don't need the username or password to get it working.
Cheers,
Doogs

Tmoible 5.99 internet

Hey guys, I've been trying to set up the internet on my Hermes. Ive found settings on other websites, but so far none have worked. If anyone can post the settings that they have personnaly tried and know are working it would be geratly appreciated. I am in New Jersey if that makes any diffrence. Thanks so much
anyone have any ideas? 85 views, someone must know something. Please?
theres a cab file called internet connection setup that should do the trick, search the forum
Being temporarily in the US (In Virginia, but it makes no difference, as settings are identical for whole tmobile network) I use FlexPay offer with unlimited Internet and it works out-of-the box with Schaps built-in Network Wizard. (Of course it is silly, that tmobile has no 3G coverage at all, even in DC and NY)
My settings are APN: wap.voicestream.com, user name and password empty, no proxy.
However I'm not sure which is the offer for 6 USD you are talking about, but I'm nearly sure it's not the one I have and you need to set up additional proxy.
1. Can you post a link to the offer info on tmobile's website?
2. Please, always add country you are talkiing about, because tmobile is not only in the USA (it's not even US company - it's German) - if you can correct topic title, it would be helpful for others.
Given that your subject line is 5.99 Internet, I would guess you want the proxy settings to get T-zones to provide your internet.
The proxy is 216.155.165.50
HTTP port 8080
You have to set up an appropriate modem that uses the proxy. (under connections)
Here u go
Try internet2.voicestream.net or wap.voicestream.net
thanks so much for the help, so far ive been able to go to websites using internet explorer through the 5.99 Tzones full internet hack. I was wondering if its possible to log into agile messenger with this hack? and if not are there any other limitations. thanks again

My experience with this is that it's limited to startard http and https ports. Example: I tried to go to an https page that runs on a non-standard port and the proxy rejected it stating it wasn't a valid port. I really doubt that the messenger will work with T-Zones.
But really, try it and see if it works. It's not going to hurt anything to try. Or, you could try calling tmo's CS reps and see if they know anything about what the service will allow.
its working on my phone.
Tried everything (I think) on my Shadow, cant get it to work.
First was giving me a "couldnt connect" error, now says:
HTTP ERROR: $CODE$
$MESSAGES
Any Ideas?
I use whizzper as my chat client thru esmertec java, and it works fine on the T-zones $5.99 plan.

I'm using T-mobile t-zones on my hermes as well and the only IM client I have gotten to work is palringo. Once installed check out this link to see hack the registry to work with a proxy.

As far as I know, this will not work if you only have the $5.99 plan. Here's what I understood to work:
$5.99 T-mobileweb: wap.voicestream.com
$19.99 Total Internet: internet2.voicestream.com or wap.voicestream.com
$29.00 Total Internet with VPN: internet3.voicestream.com or the other 2

Your Correct...
BTW, there are tmobile usa cabs for each of these plans (instead of doing it manually): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395203
I created a application to help set this up. Here is the thread when I posted it.
Hope it helps.

The Network Wizard included in WM6 does all this for you.
That is if you are subscribed to the proper plan anyways.

My Company Exchange Mail, Google Mail, and SBCGlobal POP Mail, all working.
wow... even the skyfire browser is working for me... i wonder what brought this on?
Anyway, i'm not complaining! I'm finally able to use my favorite messenger (beejive IM) with no problems... THANKS!
EVEN HTC WEATHER IS WORKING!
Must be because they're rolling out 3g and they're turning what used to be the t-zone plan into the total internet plan?
thats what im doing right now, but to be sure you should probably enter the apn info beforehand to test, i was reading that tmo is phasing out the wap.voicestream.com apn in favor of the epc.tmobile.com apn for the 3g network. the new address has more bandwith and lower latency
Wow. Palringo is working just fine right now.
so gmail works with this?
i mean i changed to the new server awhile ago but not the dns settings and such. im trying now.
doesnt work for me... can someone give better instructions?
what do you mean gmail? pop access? or going to the website? cause they both work even when i was using the proxy..
On the Hermes I did not enter any dns info, aside from the actual gateway. There are four options under the advanced tab two for dns and two for wnc or something like that. Anyone else who is using the Hermes can you please post more detailed info on what else you entered. I can run everything fine with the automatically find info option, but my speeds cap around a 100 kbps.
awesome! skyfire works with youtube videos too!
