Harrier Forum? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Is it completely absurd me thinking that there should be a forum added for the Harrier as it is CDMA? I'm just thinking it would be a lot more convenient for people to find solutions for their particular hardware.

Why Juno forum is not under Smartphones, this would help forum consistency?
oh yeah i just realized that.
we should totally relegate that smartphone to the lower position that it deserves!
just joking, but we should move it to the correct section
omg.... gas prices are over 4.00 /gal average in america and rising over the world ... but oh that doesnt matter lets get the smart phone away from the ppcs
there is no title above the ppcs saying PPC so technically its in the GENERAL section and not in a wrong section at all.
TBH with you. I feel all phones should have a 3 forum setup if there are custom roms for it.

I agree with you (compare Excalibur or Vox forums for activity and thread count) but this goes to basic forum redefining, though I believe it would be handy that way. Nevertheless, before it is done, Juno separation stick out like a dump in the punch
I always felt that the Excalibur and the Vox should have their own sections, it would help with the congestion in those forums as well.

Complete noob here, but willing to learn - need help!

(To most of you gurus out here this will probably sound pathetic)
I'm new to this whole world of mod-ing phones. I have been reading on this forum for months, but have never posted in fear of being humiliated via. an forum post.
I would like to begin flashing and experimenting but just can't afford to brick my phone, not that anyone really wants to....
Is there a particular group/chef thread that would be most beneficial to my stage of communicatory development?? If so, would someone be so kind as to direct me to the appropriate page?
Thanks guys, your knowledge and expertise is admired and envied!

I would start here and make sure you read and understand everything first...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540
Since you're new to the Rhodium, I'd also advise reading the Rhodium wiki article on the XDA-Developers Wiki. The stickies at the top of each forum also can contain important information which is usually pretty helpful.

A critical first question is whether you have a GSM phone (T-Mobile, ATT, most-of-the-world) or CDMA phone (Verizon, Sprint). ROMs (operating system and built-in apps, sort-of) intended for one type of phone are not compatible with the other type.
If you have a CDMA phone check out this sub-forum: Rhodium CDMA Start with the first/top thread.
(jhernand1102 already supplied the "start here" thread for GSM phones)
As far as installing custom/new applications (as opposed to ROMs) there's not much to fear -- bricking-wise. Most apps are easily uninstalled, and at worst you might have to "hard-reset" your phone, which wipes everything and resets to the orginal state (either factory-original or most-recent OS-rom).

Request: CDMA Desire Section

Can we get an admin/moderator to make us a CDMA subforum. Surfing through all of the GSM rom's gets a little tiresome, and I was just hoping you could give us some CDMA Desire Love (bravoc, desirec all the same) Thanks in advance, you guys are the best.
Yes, that would be great please!
I too made a request and was only told " admins are aware of this ". No other info as to if they will or not :-(.

I also would love this. I bet people would not miss the "does this work with my BravoC" posts I make.
bump. we have a lot of interest in the CDMA Desire (BravoC) Forum. please implement.
bump again, i would really like to be able not to surf through legions of GSM roms to find ours.
yes please!!
Pretty please?
Please give us a Desire CDMA forum
Bump this. Desire CDMA is only a few regional US carriers and rest is all GSM. The signal-to-noise ratio is way low for us CDMA users making it very difficult to find information in those forums that is applicable to us. I think there is plenty of CDMA activity going on that would warrant it's own home. It just gets buried by GSM activity. Thank you for your consideration.
Obligatory monthly bump
I second this request. Or tenth it, apparently.
Between Wikipedia and PCD, it looks like the HTC Desire CDMA/BravoC is available on Alltel, US Cellular, Cellular South, nTelos, Strata Networks, Bluegrass Cellular, United Wireless, and Cox.
I know firsthand that it's the top-of-the-line on Cox. I'd really like to avoid getting lost in the forest of tantalizing GSM kernels and ROM builds I can't use.
A CDMA Desire forum would be great. Does any one know of a rooting method for the Desire and custom roms

Your cries have been heard...we'll add CDMA Desire section. Is it adequate to add a new subforum under the existing Android Development forum that is called "Desire CDMA Android Development" ?
Bump this too. I recently posted the same tread on this section.
Is really annoying to search the GSM forum for our ROMs.
At least make a sticky tread on the GSM Forum

That would be great. I don't know if there would be enough distinction in the Q&A or general categories to justify separate forums but CDMA development is getting lost in the forest of GSM.

[DEV] Honeycomb Progress

Hello developers,
A thread has been created to help to make the honeycomb functional.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1025263
Please share your knowledge and let's make this sweet.
**The thread goes for both the GSM and CDMA versions
This is why I think it was a silly idea to split GSM and CDMA forums, they could have clearly been separated by peoples eyes and tags. Now we have to mess about going back and forth instead of having everything in one topic/forum

it would be wise to create another forum, this time with mixed topics from both, like this case

Indeed, Or just scrap the splitting of GSM and CDMA altogether.
A dedicated HoneyComb forum would be a good idea though.
Now we have 4 hc threads going its bound to get confusing

I'd prefer a dedicated honeycomb forum.
I find the forums much better now.... as a euro gsm tab owner I no longer have to sift through all the non-relevant info for gsm tab topics and I'm sure cdma users have similar views.
So we have *another* honeycomb thread that just links us to another Honeycomb thread? Jesus. This GSM/CDMA split was a bad decision.

I don't think it was a bad choice, I just think people are to lazy to open up more than 1 tab at a time in their browser. I don't have any problems keeping track of various threads in various forums... that's what the subscribe button is for! I do think that this and it's attached thread are a very bad idea, considering we have a GSM and a CDMA post already in place to track the development. There (shortly) wont be a need to cross-check between CDMA and GSM platforms, because they will become their own entities... they just are not at the moment. (At least not in the Honeycomb realm)
Everyone in the HD2 forums thought separating them as they are now was going to be bad... but jesus, with 7 OS's on one device, that'd be ridiculous...

the purpose tf link to the other thread is to attract the GSM Devs to the HC thread, it is not a GSM or CDMA division here, many GSM devs don't check that CDMA often so this link-thread is for gather everyone in one place.
we had 2 or 3 HC threads but none was purely for general development, so this one is for that.

No, this one is to point people to that one and that one is just a copy of information available on the other two... It's redundant.
Trust me, GSM devs are checking all the forums... If not, than they are cruddy devs.

I guess that is true, but that's xda for ya! People don't like searching.
We have Specemooses update thread, the CDMA and GSM rom threads. This thread and the thread this links to are unnecessary IMHO.

Do you wish there was a seperate Verizon Nexus Forum

XDA is a great source of information for all phones. In the past there were sometimes seperate forums for different versions of the same phone. I understand they are all Nexus phones however the issues for Verizon Nexus owners don't necessarily occur with people using a European Nexus and vice versa. There are many things in common but I really wish there had been a Verizon Nexus forum as welll. I should have posted this 6 months ago.
I'd love to be able to go to the Verizon thread and instantly see when there was information about firmware updates, fixes for mic issues, fixes for radio issues, tweaks specific to the Verizon Nexus...
Maybe if enough of you requested it it might happen... I know on the sgs2 forum they split the development sub into two but that was because a couple of devs who were also moderators liked to put themselves on a pedestal and look down from above

It'd be a plus for sure but the search works pretty well on this forum. Ultimately I can live without a separate forum.
I think it would be a great sub forum within Galaxy Nexus forum, IF it actually contained useful information. Lots of trolls and rumor mills out there with nothing but speculation. If it were created and filled with garbage, than there is no point.

Its not needed for General.
And considering there are no firmware updates, radio fixes, mic fixes, or Verizon specific tweaks, it would be a dead one if it did exist.
PS- Mic problem doesn't appear to be on the phone end.
I like'r the way it is now. :good:
As long as the VZW development is separate, I'm fine.
I like the general meeting ground for all us GNex owners.

All that matters is separate development forums. There's way too much overlap in the general discussion between device that it'd be a waste to separate them and have a ton of duplicate posts.
People with CDMA phones would just post everything in their forum and GSM would do the same. We'd then have to move/merge threads constantly instead of just allowing the few carrier-specific threads to float around in the same forum.

I agree that a separate forum would be much worse than what exists today, but that doesn't mean there is no room for improvement. I got my Gnex on July 3, so I'm relatively new, and have been doing a A LOT of reading. The biggest problem I see with regard to having a common forum for general discussion is that more often than not, people don't indicate whether they're referring to the CDMA model or the GSM model. Sometimes this can be gleaned from the discussion if there's mention of LTE or HSPA or possibly a carrier, but it's rarely stated clearly.

Yeah it is pretty frustrating whey there is a thread about radio signal issues and someone chimes in they don't have that problem - OK - are you on Verizon? No, I'm on a GSM nexus - than that isn't an apples to apples comparison.
