Dump Sim - Please Delete Firefox Crashed... - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Quick Question
I just recently got the 8528 and it came with the phone, headphones (alhto my cat chewed them), disc, and the new sim card.
My old sim card is full of phone numbers. (I like keeping them on the sim card and not the phone)
Cingular said I needed to use the new sim card for 3g.
I was going to by a usb sim flasher so I could transfer my number over to my new one but I was wondering:
Is there any program for or on the phone that will allow me to dump my sim card and then put it on my new one? If not I'll buy the usb flasher but I was hoping there was...
Thanks a

At least on a decent TyTN there is a "SIM Manager" which copies them to the PDA and vice versa. Have you tried it?
Thats what I'm using now just for the contacts, I was hopeing to be able to copy everything over at once. Like a backup -> restore type operation.
why dont you copy everything onto the device, then insert the new sim card and copy everything back to the card?

"SIM card memoryu is full" message

Hello,
Could anyone help me? I keep getting a SIM card memory is full message although I have removed all of my contacts from there as well as deleted all of the messages. Also, how could I get my emails to be stored in the SD card? Just one more question, Everytime I try to access the phone stttings, I get a "phone not ready, retry in 15 seconds". does anyone know what this is about???
Looks like your SIM card is defect. If possible try if your SIM card works on an other phone properly.
G.
No problems
I have tried to use my SIM card in another phone and it worked just fine. Could it be that it is automatically storing all of the emails and messages into the SIM card? How could i configure the phone to store those things into the Storage card instead???

Memory slot not reading

My phone is not detecting my memory card. When i connect the phone to the computer i can open up my memory card folder. I tried putting in a different memory card and it doesnt detect it either. It just all the sudden didn't detect it this morning. my memory card seems to be fine. i think something is wrong with the slot or the phjone help please.
Just to be sure its the reader and not the card, I would try the card in a different phone and see if that phone reads it. If the cards ok, then it must be your phone. If thats the case then it looks like you'll be taking your phone back and exchanging for a new one.
i used a card reader to see if the card works and it seems to detect. what do i do with the phone? i have an unlocked tilt2 i'm using with t mobile and i bought it from a private seller.
You will likely have to send your phone off to be repaired.
But before doing that, you might as well hardspl it, and flash a custom rom to it just too see if its not firmware related. Since you bought it off a private seller, (same here) you dont have to worry about voiding your warranty, since you havent got one.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news as far as having to pay to have it fixed, but hey maybe flashing a rom will do it for ya?
Probably a long shot since you've already tried another card, but try ejecting and replacing the card a few times into the phone. That's worked for me before.
You could also try blasting compressed air into the memory card slot in case there's dust or something in there.
Well now wait a minute...you're saying that the phone won't let you access the memory card directly...but when you plug the phone into the computer you can get to the card's contents via the USB connection? If that's the case, it's not the card or the slot. When you connect to the PC, are you choosing "activesync" or "disk drive"? When the phone is connected in "disk drive" mode, the phone won't be able to see or access the SD card directly (that's standard behavior).

[Q] Micro SD not detected

This morning, my phone was normal. Using apps, making calls, no problems.
Then I noticed my ring tones and my notification tones wouldn't play. Since they are stored on the Micro SD card, I thought a reboot might solve the problem. After rebooting, I get the message "SD Card Damaged". So I took it out from my phone, plugged it into the computer through a USB MicroSD reader. It detects it, and from there I can see all the files stored on there.
I decided to run a Windows (7) error check test, as that usually fixes any sort of SD problem I've had. The check ran through successfully, saying it found some problems and fixed them. After that, I put it back in the phone, boot it up, but it still wouldn't access the card. Most of my apps are stored on there, so I wanted it fixed. I took out the card and ran it through windows error check once more, only this time, I checked the box "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" and hit start. Two hours later, I notice the progress bar hasn't budged from what I can only assume was 60-65%. I decided to hit "cancel" and look up some alternative methods.
Except as soon as I hit "Cancel", something went terribly wrong. The computer no longer acknowledged I had a MicroSD card inserted. I removed the USB adapter, removed the mSD, reinserted the mSD into the USB adapter, replugged the adapter in and -- same result. I restarted the computer, and while that cycle started, I placed the card back into the phone to see if it would detect it. No luck. By this time, the computer had restarted, and I tried to reinsert the card. It detects the USB Adapter, but it's as though there was no card inserted.
At this time, I scoured the web and countless forums (including these @ xda) with no avail. I tried nearly 10 different applications built solely for data extraction, but they all had the same problem: they couldn't detect the MicroSD card. My fellow I.T. coworker suggested using an Ubuntu Live CD and try their diagnostic tools; it couldn't detect it either.
Here are the specs of my setup:
Phone: HTC Desire CDMA (USCC)
Rom: Phoenix 1.4 BravoC
Card: Samsung 8GB Class 2 MicroSD (stock from US Celluar)At this point, all I'm really concerned about it just retrieving my lost data. I have important sentimental photos, and more importantly, I have important flash backups from my stock rom that I would need if I want to return my phone for warranty. Physically, the card is undamaged. No dust, no cracks, no wear & tear. Hours of googling "SD card not detected; data recovery" leads me to several unanswered problems and fake websites baiting computer illiterate people into downloading malicious software.
I've heard of solutions that involve sending a card in to have repaired, but in turn, shelling out a couple hundred. Now I'm not stupid when it comes to computers, but I'm not necessarily a genius either. I've tried several ways to circumvent this lockout issue, and I can't find any way to undo a process from the Windows error checker. Hell, I can't find any cases or threads pertaining to people having bigger problems because of the error checker.
So I call out to anyone who can help. I can buy a new card, no problem. I just need my data back. It's crucial for my phone and important for me and my memories.
Any suggestions?
Hi
My phone:
Disire HD (GSM)
Android 2.3.3
CyanogenMod 7.0.0 RC2
I had the same problem as you a few weeks ago(my phone wasn't rooted) ....
Tried different methodes to get my data back, they all didn't work.
The problem is not the phone or any app on it neither your roms are the problem,
searched the internet... and came to the solution that I was not alone with this problem. they assume this is an hardware fould in the SD card ( btw its weird that its an Samsung SD, didn't you thought the same I still dont understand...)
Anyway, my solution was going back to the shop where I got the phone (Belcompany NL) and ask there solution for the problem i lost all my pics and other importand crap haha..
They didn't had a solution or something, just giving me a new one.. so I got a new SD Card (for free )
But lost all my data
You know if a partition messes up, which it has done because you didn't let it finish, there is like 0% chance that you can recover any data on your SD card. You should of backed your card up before you attempted to even start doing a disk check. As for getting your SD back up and running, you can try gparted live cd and see if it will detect it in that. If so just repartition it, but next time, let it do a thorough disk check and finish. Checks can take hours and hours because it is doing something. Just backup your SD card frequently.
I've decided to purchase a new card rather than hassle with unrooting my phone for the sake of going back to the USCellular repair (on just a whim that they may replace the card).
I've heard that I need to be careful when choosing a brand of MicroSD cards. Transcend is a no go. But what about this: An 8GB A-DATA Class 6 MicroSD card?
From what I've gathered, A-DATA is a reputable brand, and it shouldn't really cause problems in my HTC Desire, right?

Support SIM Unlock Issue ??

I'm having a problem unlocking the SIM. I have Incredible 2 unlock by code ( 8 digi)
ON HTC incredible 2
Settings:Security, there is a menu item for "Disable SIM card lock". + enter unlock code
but after enter unlock code , Incredible 2 will reboot
My problem is: After unlocking SIM I try to switch to GSM mode. It says "There is no SIM card on your device. Your device will switch to CDMA mode now". I tried number of working SIMs of other people phones... No success.
Change Simcard ( GSM) , turn on Htc incredible 2 , Settings>Call>Preferred Network>GSM/UMTS Mode always show "There is no SIM card on your device. Your device will switch to CDMA mode now"
I go to Settings - >Security->Disable SIM lock. It says "Sim lock disabled"
I can't make a call , i can't use GSM/UMTS mode ,I'm not in US
Try google search :

No solution ???
Sounds like the SIM isn't compatible. I thought I read somewhere that certain older SIM cards wouldn't work, not sure about that though.
Perhaps you can get a logcat and see what specific error you are getting. When I did this with mine, I saw something like "invalid CID...".
I tested an AT&T SIM card and it worked just fine.

Thanks mattwood2000
but how to get a logcat ?? Tool or use command line logcat in sdk http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/logcat.html
??
I recently got back to the US from France. Before leaving I called support, unlocked the SIM card, and updated my PRL before leaving from JFK. When I arrived in France, I got no reception and was unable to switch to GSM mode. I ended up not having a working phone for the entire trip.
I get back to the US and complain to customer service and they offer to replace the SIM card. After taking my phone apart I realized that the CSR at the Verizon store had inserted my SIM card backwards. I turned the SIM card around and the phone now is able to switch to global mode. The correct way to insert the card is with the cut corner of the SIM card outside of the slot on the right (if you are looking at the card in the slot).
Not saying this is your problem, but it's definitely something to check.
ouch...that hurts!!
I'll make sure to double check mine when I touch down next week.
For logcat, I use Eclipse and DDMS. Just setup eclipse per Google's instructions and once you connect your phone (enable USB debugging), you will see a logcat tab next to the console. Just look in there...lots of data will be spit out of your phone.

I have checked and tested with 05 set of HTC Incredible 2
. There has only 01 set can't be unlocked and also can't switched into GSM mode.
I thought the problem comes from the set itself, not because of the way of inserting Sim card.
Thank Petitsinge for your support.
@ Mattwood2000 : tks , I will test for sure and then inform you.

Unfortunately at work!
I looked at your logcat and that is the same as I had with my European SIM - I guess the problem is that there are no local cells that accept that carrier/SIM card. What carrier is the SIM for?
I tried my phone with an AT&T card and it worked just fine.
I suspect that when I get to Europe next week there will be no problem with my card.
Can you try another card?
*EDIT*
One other though I had is what kind of SIM card - micro, etc.?
If its a micro you will need an adapter or careful hands to get it to seat correctly.
I'm having the same exact issue as the OP any resolution? I get "Network or SIM card error" when trying to access GSM options.
Thanks!
