Device password - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Hello!
I really need some help, I installed some cab files from this link. And now when I reset my HTC TyTN/Hermes (running the official WM6) I can't unlock it with my usual password. I have no idea what might have happened, but the only thing I can think of is that it was something in one of those cab files.
Does anyone know a way to work around the password check? I really wouldn't want to do a hard reset...
Thanks in advance!

at the risk of stating the obvious, are you sure you're entering the right password? i mean, your not entering the device password and it's asking you for the SIM pin or something.
i'm only mentioning it b/c i've done it before

Hehe, yeah I'm sure it's the right password. I've been using it for about 3 weeks, and I can't have forgotten it since I know it's the same numbers as the year i was born (not very safe I know ).
And it can't be the PIN code, since it's the same thing if I try it without the card inside.
I have also tried the usual 1111, 0000, 1234 and so on.
Thanks for trying to help me anyways
Does anyone else have any idea of what I can do?

I'm not sure if you've noticed, but there are posts around here stating that a certain ROM does gives problem of resetting the password to some unknown (and untypical) password. It seems to be ROM related, rather than the CAB you've install. Try doing a search around for people having PIN problems.

Thanks for your reply!
I did a search before I posted, but I guess I didn't think of the correct keywords to use.
But after a couple of searches now it seems like I have to hard reset... And that this bug mostly happens to official ROMs, which I find a bit weird.
Oh well, I guess I'll hard reset, flash a cooked ROM and install a backup program to prevent future problems. Oh, and I won't be using a password anymore. xD
Good thing I save my contacts to my sim card.
Thanks for the help everyone! This forum is the best

Invalid Tool Error

So..my phone is rather useless at the moment. Won't load the rom after freezing up while i slept last night. I go into bootloader and try to reflash but get the error "Invalid update tool" and it says something about a newer version. Has anyone had this error or know how to fix it? I am in desperate need of assistance here. Thank you for all replies in advance.
Edit: The exact error is as follows
Code:
ERROR[300]: INVALID UPDATE TOOL
This Update Utility cannot be used for your PDA Phone. Please get newer Update Utility.
I was running Kavana cooked rom 6.1.
I have tried to reflash with atleast 5 different roms and they all present this error.
Just checking, but did you try the default ROM for your device? If it is a T-mobile Dash, you will want to use one the the Tmobile stock ROM's first.

Yeah, I tried them and got the same error. Thanks, though.

I know this might be a stupid question of me but, did you do a hard reset?
Why would you make another thread regarding issues with your phone, when you already have a thread going about problems with your phone?
Please post accordingly You should've posted this other issue on your previous thread, rather than making a new one! Can you imagine if everyone would make a thread for every little issue with their phone?

It won't hard reset. I made a new topic because this is a completely different problem. I apologize if it was not necessary.
Bump.
Any ideas at all?
Ah yes.
My bomb didn't detonate until some time Wed/Thu night. 6am Thu morning I had to be at my local Polling Station where I was to be the 'Presiding Officer'.
Bad, bad timing.
Still, I managed a hard reset without the SD card in, (this took a few attempts), and having basic phone function, off I went to do my bit for European Democracy - honestly, the whole thing would be chaos without me ...
Anyway, I digress. I do that quite a lot. There was this one time ...
... I didn't get 'round to trying to sort it all out until Sat afternoon, (the phone, not the European Parliament), and as I have flashed this phone to buggery and beyond I expected it to take little time.
Ha. Ha. Ha.
I downloaded the latest version of the Energy ROM, (love it, love it, love it), ran the .bat file and; error 270.
I sparked up the bootloader and, of course, no connected device meant no update. I tried various 'stock' ROMs and got the same error you describe.
In UK, my provider is BT and there is no image link in the stickies, (I have finally found one, I will send a Mod a link), and tracking a full basic .exe image proved really difficult.
However, once found, all my problems evaporated.
So, find an executable basic ROM image from the phones' original provider, fire up the bootloader, run the .exe and a few minutes later you will be able to reflash.
Honest.
I believe you can also load the image as a .cab file onto the SD card and install from there but I didn't have to investigate this so can't promise anything. Sorry.
The ROM image is the key.
Once the bomb detonates, hard reset etc seems to become a bit flakey - keep trying.
I'm rambling again, aren't I?
Another beer I think ...
** Edit **
Yes, of course the BT ROM is now working.
Now I don't need it.
Ah well.

Keyboard still not mapped correctly after cab install!

I was not the only user having this problem. There was actually a bounty set for a fix, but I havent seen one yet. Flashed Energy Rom Sense 2.5 and 2.1, provisioning didn work, and neither did cab install for correct key layout. Numbers still across the top row, and most symbols still incorrectly mapped. Seems to be first tilt configuration and nothing will change it back.
The strange thing in my case was before I ever flashed ANYTHING SPL, ROM radio...anything...,(bone stock) my HW keyboard would auto remap to these settings out of nowhere. Two different devices had this problem, i took the first one back, and this one being the second. a soft reset would set configuration back to stock before flash, but now even the cabs available will not change anything. I got a $20 for a .cab fix or a detailed xplnation of how to fix this, and have the entire HW keyboard mapped in english and to at&t tilt 2 configuration that will work on this device
Please Forgive the rant in the prior post concerning this issue, as this has become quite frustrating lol, and I have owned every HTC device at&t has sold and loved em all, but had to hunt fixes for every single one. Ive learned a lot in the process, but sometimes time is limited to be able to constantly search for what would seem to be a simple fix. If you will notice, for as long as long as I have been a member of this great community, I have made very few posts, and asked few questions on my different devices ...I read searched and read some more. I had xda google search as my homepage for a loooong time, help on this issuue would be greatly appreciated!!!
What cab did you use? There's a few floating around. I've tried dozens of roms and only seen this issue with one or two ROMs (both 2.5 roms) but went away after a hard reset. Are you hard resetting your device after flash?

1. Make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32 (you dont have to delete all files but it is safer if you do)
2. Download your prefered Rom from the Rhodium Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your PC
3. Goto the Roms Folder and rename the .nbh file to RHODIMG.nbh
4. Copy the RHODIMG.nbh file to the root of your MicroSD Card
5. Plug the MicroSD Card into the phone
6. Enter the BootLoader screen, you will first see a tri-color screen with the phone and SPL Information at the top
7. Follow the On Screen instructions to start the update
8. After flash has completed, press the reset button with the stylus to reset the device.

I thought it odd not to have to do a hard reset as left out in tutorial. I should have done it out of habit from flashing kaiser, and fuze, but no. I did not hard reset. I will try a new flash and do the reset this time. Hopefully thats all thats the problem! thank you very much, and cross your fingers for me lol. If it works I will def keep my word on 20!

Just to help troubleshoot after you hard reset just install whichever keyboard cab you're using, soft reset, and test it out before installing anything or syncing.
thank you thank you thank you!
I cant believe thats all it was! Even more so I cant believe I didn even try the H R after flash. I never once failed to do this when flashing any other device, I guess b/c it was in the directions for noobs to do so in other forums, lol may ought to suggest adding it to the dir for flashing tp2 lol!
THANK YOU BIGTIME, once again! I had become frustrated after tryin multi cabs and reading where it worked for everyone else. all i did was re flashed, h-reset. cab was in uc folder, but that didn work, ended up using att provisioning provided by NRG, and there she was...working like a charm again!
Glad to hear it worked! Thanks for following up to, you're the first person with this issue I've tried helping that actually posted a followup.

[SOLVED] Can't remember my password... Help!

Hi,
I know this sounds pretty dumb, but I haven't been using my Archos 80G9 in six months - and now I can't recall my password anymore..!
I have tried every possible combination I could have used, but no luck.
Apparently, it is not possible to access the SD Cards either if not logged in. Nice security feature..
I have nothing important on my tablet and am willing to simply erase everything in order to set it up again, but I don't know how.
Anyone have an idea how I can regain control and/or force-change the password?
--Thanks!
AA
Never mind... I successfully managed to nuke my Archos in the meantime. Now I'm trying to figure out how to install ICS again.. Sounds like a long night of reading posts ;(
Got it.... I still had all the files on my PC. Firmware re-flashed, off to step 2.

URGENT : Forgot PIN!

Hi,
I seem to have locked myself out of my phone and do not remember my password. Last night before going to bed, I experimented with a bunch of passwords as to which one would be easy to remember. Now I do not remember what it was!
1. I have tried atleast 50 different passwords. However, they do not work.
2. Also, strangely, I do not receive the Forgot PIN option that we used to receive in earlier version of android
3. I do not have wifi/3g internet enabled so that I could check the google account recovery option.
4. I tried the emergency number and entered a key mentioned somewhere but it doesn't work. However, in the process I managed to call the police unfortunately!
5. I am able to use the camera on the bottom left
6. I tried calling myself and then trying to enter the phone while on call. No luck!
I want to try avoiding factory resetting the phone. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Hey,
I think THIS should do the trick for you. You can easily flash CWM via SP Flash Tool, boot into it, open an ADB shell and remove the .key file.
Let me know if this works.
Thanks for the info! . It's a bit late here. Will try it tomorrow and let you know how it goes!

LG K10 screen lock

I've got a problem with my lg k10 - It's number protected and I can't remember the combination. I can't make a backup, because my usb is in loading only mode, I can't access it remotely because USB debugging is off. I really don't want to hard reset it, because i've got some private and important things there. I can't really do anything about rooting etc. (I don't know anything as well). Just for mentioning sake, I've tried ADM, but it didn't work (like it's anything new :/) is there any way to bypass it somehow without hard resetting it?
EDIT: I'm sorry if it's not the place for such newbie things, I lost all my hope and I don't know what to do
EDIT2: It was repaired after screen crash and I don't really remember putting the code combination in place of contemporary screen lock.
