if you check the skype download page you will see that version 2.2 is not supported for trinity, it only allows limited functionality= chats only, no calls... try version 2.1

Hi guys.
All these 3 version that I'm uploading work fine on my device.
Try a softreset and also try a softreset for your router/acess point or whatever gets you online(if u use wifi).
That's what I do,because I use wifi.
Let me know if it works and try out the other versions. ;-)

It didn't work for me on WM5 either. I was lucky to have an older version somewhere.

Running LVSW's WM5 -- Skype 2.2 works fine.

i think there is only problem whith WM6...

Last version not working on 3G phones?
isn't it a bit strange this last version of skype not supporting to place calls in phones with good processor power? Tytn and P3600? It's also strange that the supported HTC phones don't have 3G communications?
My instinct tells me that there is some kind of pressure by mobile network providers for skype not being supported by 3G phones, because people are able to place much cheaper calls than trough the UMTS (3G) provider.
Just a guess...
(Actually previous versions work very well with my trinity either trough wi-fi or 3G)

skype 2.1 works fine
but via 3G in tmobile UK its not possible to make a call...lags are just to big....via WiFi works like a charm...

Which SIP ???

Hi!
Some days ago I have installed LSWS's WM6 ROM (2.0.1.1) + RADIO 1.41 to my P3600....perfect!
Now, how (using the easier way...) I can made a Phone-Call over the internet??
I must use a WiFi connection (not 3G !!) and I want call a STANDARD phone (not another voip phone!)
however....which software can I use ??
SkyPe + SkyPe Out account??
And, IF i want use the standard WM6's Phone application??
Tnks,
Axel
...please!
WengophoneMobile or Sjphone.
Bye.
XTen Softphone works ok for me.-
BR Landy.-
Well my friend use the information they have on the thread about the voip on WM6, (sorry don't remember which one but with some search you will find it...). Follow the instructions and you will get a good connection and internet calling from your dialpad. Yet this means you have to be registered with a SIP provider like voipbuster etc....
Skype also works fine, follow the instructions fro Skype site and download file for the trinity. Then install and you are set to go.
To make outgoing calls in both cases you need to have credit on the account. Also, the sound is much better through the headphones that come with the phone, I suggest to use them unless you want everyone to listen to your conversation, as in any other case the sound goes through the loudspeaker of the phone...
good luck

Is there a working VoIP app working on dash ?

Hello,
I'm raising big hopes about the scheduled WM6 upgrade (i'm waiting for the official one, not t-mobile's or russian one) but in the meantime, do you know if there is an working SIP client for my s620 ?
By working, i mean that the audio is correctly routed, I don't want to use an headset.
I've tried fring, skype, bewip, gosip. I don't mind purchasing a piece of software if it work well.
Thanks
as much as i know.. the very best (for the moment) is skype..
and the headset i think it is not big deal to use..
just my opinion..
Oh, pick me! I know the answer! Me! Me! Me!
Well, if you wanna go proprietary, Skype'll do the job. But you want SIP, so that puts Skype right out. The correct answer was Fring™. Fring is a free MSN/ICQ/Skype/SIP client that claims to operate over WiFi and GPRS. I've only tested it over WiFi, and I'm doubtful that GPRS will be enough to make it work right (EDGE, maybe). Thankfully, Fring™ is free, and all you have to do is go to their web site. The entire process can even be done on your phone.
I could never get the WM6 Internet Calling app to work. Others have reported that the connection drops (although the wi-fi connection is still up) after 15 minutes. Another user and myself had the same config (aside from username/password and phone number), his worked, mine didn't.
I installed Fring and its SIP client worked as advertised. Can connect to any voip provider.
(But didn't like the fact I had to create a Fring account even if not planning to use it)

Yes, but the fact I can't have sound from earpiece is a problem...

Reliable VoIP on Hermes? Experiences?

Hi,
I would like to use my Hermes as a VoIP device via WiFi. To be more precise, I want to use it seriously, not just to play around. The battery time is neglectible, server-side voip configuration and codes can be adjusted.
So far I have seen Schaps WM6.0 Rom, the Voipwm6.cab's, the voip Drivers .cab and destr0`s cab (I have also tested some overfilled Rom Images with Voip support).
My experience so far has been rather disappointing, laggy connections, no reconnecting after Wlan disconnect, lack of speech codecs. This seems surprising to me, as there are other WM6 based devices, with similiar memory and processor power, being marketed as business-VoIP devices (eg. some iPAQs). So, as far as I understand, it should be possible to enable full VoIP functionality, quality and reliability by chosing the right software.
My question:
Is somebody here using VoIP on a Hermes daily? What setup are you using, which drivers did you install? Are there WM6.1 Voip drivers availible? I do not like this mixing up of different library versions, which seems to be popular with the rom kitchens.
SKYPE MOBILE FIND IT ON THE SKYPE SITE THATS what I always use I have millions of enteries and errands to run and I have to meet political connections in other countries and I know this sounds boring but here I am and I have to use VOIP NO JOKE
since you asked.....
I fooled around with the same issue for several months. While Fring and the newest version of skype for ppc both gave good sound quality, I have given up on the issue because of an unacceptable voice delay (~0.5 ). I once thought the issue was related to my internet provider - my current opinion is that this is due windows mobile issues and inadequate processing power. Calling in to a local voip dial-in access telephone # via my hermes did NOT produce the same voice delay, nor did internet skype calling via a wifi connection from my computer. I also got the voice delay when I tried calling via a 3g/umts cellular connection and when using some Viop software found on this site. Finally, using every phone 'tweak' I could find on the internet also did not improve the voice delay, nor did different 'fast' custom ROMs improve the issue. If you/or anyone else ever solves the problem of voice delay on the hermes, I would love to know how.
I've been testing NCH Express Talk: http://www.nch.com.au/talk/index.html + this little utility that forces sound output to the earpiece: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396829
I haven't done much field testing, but the quality is much better than inbuilt VoIP, works ok over 3G and unlike Fring, the communication between you and your VoIP provider is direct.
Thanks for your replies and sharing your experiences. At least now I do not feel like a complete idiot. The strange thing is that when I tried Voip on Hermes the first times (just with VoIP.cab etc). and connecting directly to a normal provider sound quality was really good and the lag was low. Some hours later it has been bad.
As far as I am concerned, I have also tested agephone (gives you a lot of configuration options) and i will test voipsurfer (uses iax) a bit more as soon as i find some time.
I will not give up now. Among other things I want to look at the network settings of the Hermes (packet size etc.) and test with a lot of free memory.
I am going to keep this thread updated, as soon as I find out more.
Tremere, thanks for the nch hint. The program gave me a warning about my network setup, which may lead to one-way or lagged audio. Hmm...
Voip
Download fring from yr htc install it and insert yr voip account.
It works like charm.

I got around the warning by setting up port forwarding on my router. The audio is fine, both directions work, but the lag is still not acceptable.
I bought a Hermes (8525) about 2 weeks ago and have been trying out different voip methods. Here's my bit:
Skype
+Keeps phone from sleeping so you can always be logged in
+Best sound quality from the ways I've tried
+Very cheap rates for US calls and DID
-Very unstable on my device. I constantly have to soft reset when skype runs
-Skype contacts separate from Hermes contacts
-Speakerphone used by default, which causes bad echoing. Torca2 works to route sound to earpiece, but awkward to start/stop. I haven't managed to get audioswitch to work, which would sort things out.
-Must use +1 on calls, and the + is obnoxious to get to
Fring (with skype)
+More stable, and I can use gmail chat!
+Smoother interface (for me) than skype
-Short to medium delay, enough to be a deal-breaker
-Doesn't stop device from sleeping, so calls in don't work
-Fring contacts separate from Hermes contacts
SIP with Home Asterisk/Sisky-Skype Server
+More control over detailed options
+When at home, great call quality with little delay
+WM6 has built in voip support
+Phone automatically logs into wifi networks and connects back to my home server very well, displays status on today screen
+Hermes contacts dial using voip when available
+Easy to build on and add more phones (mobile and landlines) to the system
-Good quality but bad delay (so far) when connecting remotely through the internet
-Tricky to get set up from scratch
-Requires at least one dedicated server, preferably two
-Sisky enterprise software is proprietary ($60, free 30-day trial)
-Voip stops when the device is in standby. There are supposed to be ways around this but at the cost of battery life. Still testing...
I'm going to try the voip with voipbuster or another provider... but that's next weekend. I'm hoping my home asterisk server pans out, but there's a lot of configurations to learn and perfect.
Here's the link for torca2 again
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396829
And audioswitch, which would be a gem if it worked on the hermes

Mobile video audio chat with edge or adsl with bt/usb possible!and another things...

hello
first, I use skype on my hermes 200 adsl connection via a USB or EDGE connection in both cases I had not heard the voice of my interloccuteurs (voice cuts) while they are listening
will become of the weakness of my connection or there a reason?
also, I install skype mobile beta lite (for symbian s60 v.2) on a Nokia N72 to communicate with my hermes 200 but I have not the icon of the call, and in the category of aid on I said that "the call will be possible after the upgrade skype when it will be available in your country"
could I have the icon of the call before skype lite mobile beta is available in my country knowing that they have not yet?
else, the audio chat it was possible between two windows mobile user?
Finally, set apart the MIDs (see here) http://www.intel.com/products/mid/devices.htm , are there other mobile devices capable of video chat skype? if not, they are the other software can do without 3G or wifi, personally I know 5: vochat, octro, tivi, imichat (under symbian), and microsoft portrait
and another that I could not operate: tabletmedia, of whether someone else could get it to tell me how?

Skype on HD?

Anyone has Skype installed on HD? I installed the version at official website and it didn't work.
use FRING: you can manage Skype, MSN messenger and many similar apps all in one software and all at the same time.
I installed Skype on my Touch HD today from the Skype website. I used the 2.5 Beta version for Pocket PC (installed to my computer and used ActiveSync to install to internal memory of my HD). I've seen posts where people have been saying they've had issues, but (so far) Skype is working on my HD.
Skype works flawlessly on the HD.
I tested skype from my HD to another HD with skype and the results where
really awesome.. so little lag you dont even notice (we both used Wifi)
To Op: make sure you download for ppc and not smartphone.
I downloaded the PPC version, and try it again but still not working, maybe my HD is chinese version?
echoooooo
I used Skype and just like when i use it at home i get the echo sound and a repeating of dialog

Skype 2.5 didn't work on my HD either (crashed as soon as I tried to call someone), but the earlier 2.2.0.38 works.
Unfortunately I cannot seem to attach it to my post, but maybe you can find it somewhere on the web.
i tried once and the install didn't complete properly, the second time it just ran ok and have no issues with it. They should somewhat fix the interface tho and make it a little more fingerfriendly. support for camera would rule also.
on my Hd works but only if use WiFi, doesn't work via ActiveSync
i have installesd the mobile version from the website and it works fine. No problems at all with it. camera does not work with it but other than that it works fine.
I downloaded the current version from the web site and it works fine on wifi. Does not want to work over activesync (but then why would I want to bother, when I'm using the PC I just use Skype on the PC).
I have not yet tried Skype on the HD with bluetooth - next thing to try ...
I use Nimbuzz.
http://www.nimbuzz.com/en/mobile/mobile/
The new version supports WVGA an can manage a lot of providers like skype, icq, google, StudiVZ (german), yahoo, msn, ... in just one program. I love it

Hey guys, I have Skype 2.5 working nicely except for one thing...
The sound comes out of the REAR speaker instead of the front
I think I may have seen someone mention it before in another thread but couldn't find it again.
Any fixes? Cheers
I am using skype on my HD and it works like clock and it looks really pretty as well...
It works both over wifi and over t-mobile internet connection...
cheers
Haha lucky you - sadly I still have this annoying problem
That's cool man, are you using a stock Touch HD or a particular ROM?
I have Skyp on my HD, it works well over both WiFi & my 3G connection, although as said, the voice comes over the rear speaker
After a bit of digging, a guy from Skype says HTC haven't shared something that would enable them to use the front speaker perfectly, without hacking which he says would cause too many support issues. Nevertheless here's the thread, worth a read..
http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=186171&st=20
His suggestion is to install this app called AudioRoute..
http://teksoftco.com/index.php?section=freeware
.. and I just checked to see if it works, and it does.
So before launching Skype we will have to launch this little program and it puts a small square on your Home screen. After pressing it you get the options of Front, Rear, Speakerphone ON and Exit. Pressing Front and then making a call with Skype has the desired effect.
It is good enough for me until hopefully Skype come up with something
Working with Skype for WM 3.0 on my HD and found no bugs. Everything goes well. WiFi or Edge or 3G all without problems. SMS now included and the most improvement. My provider offered a cheap 3G flatrate but the SMS are very expensive. Without me thanks to skype!
Interesting to see my Skype shows copyright for 2.5 but under version it's 3.0.0.100 to found. Seems they found no time to change the copyright up to today
P.S. The front speaker is active without any additional app. In fact there are front and rear active, allways.
