When in the Contacts view, typing a person's name usually navigates to their contact entry. Some how, my T-mobile Dash has the alt key locked when on that screen so that I get numbers instead of letters. When in other text entry modes such as composing a text message the defaults are correct and I can switch between the various alt and caps modes. This problem seems to only affect the Contacts view and the alt key seems to have no effect. Any ideas? Thanks,
claeton
I don't know what I have done.
I use K-9 for email, and if the pen was out it came up with a lined section where the keyboard normally is and I could write with SPen and it would transcribe to text.
I don't know what I did but now I only get keyboard and no way I can find to use spen to to text.
I'm sure this is simple, thanks for the help.

Found the problem.
In "input" while the Samsung keyboard was set as default, somehow the Google voice was checked.
Unchecked it and not when the keyboard comes up there is the option to SPen to text.
I am sure it must be an option, but is it possible for speech to text to work on the Tab S?
i.s I speak my text messages and it types the words for me. I know it works in Google Now, but how about in the other applications, like text messages/facebook etc?
I know my old Desire phone had the option..
I know Swype keyboard has a Dragon speech to text option. I don't know how well it works but it does work with any app.
I think the Google keyboard also has a google voice typing option. Again I don't know how well it works since I never use it.

try the new app Voice Typing Keyboard VTK. it lets you input text anywhere you can with voice. there is no microphone button to push, just say "listen" or "spelling" when in a text field to start dictation. you can move cursor, do editing formatting, insert symbols punctuation etc all with voice too. has an on-screen keyboard too if you need it. since I do most of my typing with voice, so i hide the on-screen keyboard most of the time
Hi,
Is there a way to recognize the speech instead of typing?
I want to write something on my blog, but It's boring to type.
thanks
Is there a text to speech function in the Note 10+. Looked but can"t seem to find it. Have it on my V40.
Settings>Accessibility>Screen Reader, turn on voice assistant and in the settings below you can make your changes and will see text to speech for adjustment of settings for that.

Tried it but can't seem to get to work for messages only. I usually carry the phone in my BOB and need to hear the text vocalized.
