[Q] S-Pen writing to text - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

I don't know what I have done.
I use K-9 for email, and if the pen was out it came up with a lined section where the keyboard normally is and I could write with SPen and it would transcribe to text.
I don't know what I did but now I only get keyboard and no way I can find to use spen to to text.
I'm sure this is simple, thanks for the help.

Found the problem.
In "input" while the Samsung keyboard was set as default, somehow the Google voice was checked.
Unchecked it and not when the keyboard comes up there is the option to SPen to text.

Voice Input Commands

Soooo i JUST found out that the google search can be used to make calls when my sister tried to google something and it started calling a friend.
what other cool commands are there that the phone will act on?
for completion sake the command was
"Call <name>"
if you have multiple names or names that are similar, such as christine, christina, kristen (i just said call chris) it will bring them up as options which is pretty nifty.
The options are limited right now. I know Froyo will greatly expand on this. Allowing you to do a lot more than just call. I am assuming compose text messages and much more.
Here is what I use:
"Call <Persons name>"
"Navigate to <location, address, name or zip>"
Those are the only 2 commands I know of. Everything else will result in a search. You can get apps that will allow you to compose SMS or emails to hold you over till Froyo.
If you are using the voice dialer app you can use "Open (app name". For instance in the car I use "Open Pandora".
I don't think it works with the search button, but if you use the voice dialer it does.

[Q] Send contact directly to voicemail missing still? (EC05 edition)

Back in September I read the original thread in our forums related to this missing feature: here
I've searched high and low in the contacts application and still cannot find this feature. Did I just completely overlook it or is it still missing in TouchWiz for EC05?
The option is still missing from TouchWiz. I use the app "Group to Voicemail" to accomplish this. Another option, if you have Launcher Pro, you can (from the home screen) hit menu/add/Shortcuts/Activities/Call settings/Auto reject list. This will put a shortcut on your home screen to this hidden setting. From within the Auto Reject List, you can add numbers from your contacts, call logs, or manually type them in. Remember to remove any symbols or hyphens from the phone numbers you add or it won't work.
Thanks for the response. Yea, I read up on that application before I made this post. I'm just not sure how I feel about paying $2 for the app when it's an Android native feature being disabled by Samsung. (Though, I know the app has way more features than simply send to voicemail that would warrant the fee.)
I may just try out "Mr. Number Call Block" for a bit.

Ignore with text and a few other things.

Is it possible to modify the application that the ignore with text feature uses? (To clarity, this pops up when you have an incoming call, it gives you the option to ignore the call, and automatically send a preset message to the caller) I like the idea but it uses the stock messaging app and I use Google Voice for all texting.
Also slightly related, I noticed when I get a missed SMS in the stock messaging app, my lockscreen has a tab that says missed message or whatever. Is is possible to change that to maybe Google Voice? or maybe to show emails as well?
Perhaps this is a shot in the dark and maybe a limitation of touchwiz but I figured I would see if anyone knew anything.
I'd also like to see a count of unread Gmail and GV messages in the dock above the application icon, but that may be a bit too much to expect.

[Q] Speech to text on apps? Possible?

I am sure it must be an option, but is it possible for speech to text to work on the Tab S?
i.s I speak my text messages and it types the words for me. I know it works in Google Now, but how about in the other applications, like text messages/facebook etc?
I know my old Desire phone had the option..
I know Swype keyboard has a Dragon speech to text option. I don't know how well it works but it does work with any app.
I think the Google keyboard also has a google voice typing option. Again I don't know how well it works since I never use it.

Click to collapse
try the new app Voice Typing Keyboard VTK. it lets you input text anywhere you can with voice. there is no microphone button to push, just say "listen" or "spelling" when in a text field to start dictation. you can move cursor, do editing formatting, insert symbols punctuation etc all with voice too. has an on-screen keyboard too if you need it. since I do most of my typing with voice, so i hide the on-screen keyboard most of the time
