Hi,
What case do people recommend to keep their Orbit safe? I'm stuck between the Krussell (which I have protected phones with before) , a silicon case (ebay item number 160068404562) or PDA Leather Flip Case (ebay 160068463414).
I'm tempted for the silicon as you still have easy access to the screen , but welcome any other ideas.

Before reading your question, I was not aware of the existance of a silicon case for this model. Now I've looked it up at Ebay and am also interested. A couple of months ago I bought a silicon case for my mp3 player (different brand though, ZCover) and am very pleased with it. So far however, the seller seems only to ship within the UK. I have just asked him by email if he is able to ship abroad, no answer yet.
Update: he does sell abroad. Apparently he has more than one item on Ebay, all about this case but with different shipping methods. Anyway, I just ordered a black silicon case, due to arrive later this week. I will let you know.
hi
i have the PDAIR flip case and am very pleased with it. i prefer it to a silicon type as it gives the screen more protection.
I agree that a flip case does give more protection, especially to the screen, but isn't it annoying when actually making a call? I presume you don't take the phone out of the case before calling. To me it looks rather silly. NOFI.
Have a look for the aluminium (on ebay, under artemis/p3300) case for the artemis as I have just ordered one and hope it is a good fit for the orbit?
Not massively protective but the slipcase supplied with the 8oGB ipod is a perfect fit. I'm using it just now to avoid scratches until i find a good screen protector and silicon case.

has your aluminiun case arrived, How much extra bulk does it add, as I'm thinking of getting one. I already have a black silicone case which is very good, and a very tight snug fit, but no protection for the screen. If the aluminium one is not to big, then I would sell my silicone case.
Yes my aluminium case came through the same day as my last post and it does not add much bulk to the device. The only issue I have had with it is the stylus is covered slightly so to remove it you have to open the case and slide the phone up slightly. Apart from that great case would recommend highly to all those in need of a case. My case came in a Pdair box so I assume it is made by them?
I also have the leather PDAIR flip case and my only criticism is that it extends a little to much toward the sides of the base of the screen so that I must angle the stylus a bit at the edges.

I just had a look at the aluminium cases sold on Ebay but they don't seem to have protection for the screen as well? How is that different then?
Just like you, I ordered a silicon case last week and it arrived a couple of days later. I'm pleased with it, pretty tight fit, better grip, no chance anymore of scratching the camera lens when the phone is on it's back, and all the required openings are exactly on the right spot. Indeed, the only thing left is the absence of protection for the screen, but I don't carry the phone in a pocket together with keys or coins.
The aluminium case has a plastic screen in it to protect the orbit. You have to open the front cover to use the touch screen.
All of which is not a problem as I would advise anyone with a phone of this quality to purchase a screen protector ASAP.
I didn't use my orbit till my protector came through the post.
Hi All
I spoke to the lady in the O2 shop in Swindon about cases, she said that O2 will be releasing some Orbit specific ones in the next couple of weeks.
I have my fingers crossed.

The slightly scratched, fingerprint smeared and dusty state of my just-over-a-week-old Orbit screen would probably give you a heart attack then! Screen protectors don't come cheap, £10 for little sheets of sticky plastic... selotape is under £1 a roll! I'll just use some of that!
Has anyone on their internet travels come across a vertical leather pouch/holster for the Artemis that has a belt clip?
Something like this:
http://www.mobilecityonline.com/wireless/store/productdetail.asp?productid=21740
Just want something that can be attached to a belt and the Artemis slid into and out of - not for use in the actual case.
Must be vertical and minimal size (ie designed for the Artemis and no larger).
Krusell Vertica with Multidapt® - S-Wide
Selotape aside I'll almost certainly be going for http://www.pielframa.net/pielframa_productos.asp?id=1685 (mentioned on the other case thread) if I ever bother getting a case... can't beat something made-to-measure!
Just got myself a Piel Farama in black for my Jasjam. Looks very good and high quality but certainly requires getting a bit used to as each time you have to open the flap and fold it all the way back to get a hold of the device to take or make a call.
regards
Thanks Moleshome - that is exactly what I am looking for except my only concern (as with all "multi" cases) is that it will not fit it nicely and/or be the smallest possible case for the dimensions of the p3300. I can't think it fits all of the listed "compatible" models perfectly and I don't know if the Artemis would be in that category.
Anyone bought this particular case? Experiences?
Got my Piel Frama case today - it fits the Orbit well despite being designed for the P3300 (sharper corners).
Overall a beautifully crafted case which I will probably return as it won't let me store a credit card in the flap. My last case for the XDA Mini was a Krusell - hope they bring out an Orbit sepcific case soon....

No good for spontanous gprs internet shopping on the go then?
I dropped an email to see if I could get one for review, fingers crossed otherwise I'll have to fork over some mulah or see what my birthday holds. (I've been a games/tech journalist for a while, which is nice)
Would be interesting to get a comparison of the Krusell and Piel cases, and maybe something a bit more on the minimalistic size. I'll see what I can do, but neither are contacts I've dealt with before.

These leather cases seem ok but the one I have just leaves tiny bits of material all over the Orbit screen....anyone know of a simple pouch for the Orbit?
Don't mean to hijack the thread but anyone have one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/leather-case...0QQihZ012QQcategoryZ48673QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Looks to be designed specifically for O2 but I want to know if someone recognises it as a proper Artemis case and not some other model's case that just happens to fit. (ie is it a dedicated P3300 case that will have a perfect fit?)
looks like a generic. problem with sleeve cases is that you need to take the phone out to do anything. so unless its top quality you can get scratches and smears over time.
Just got the PDAair flip case (for my orbit). Its quite nice as it protects the screen and trackball without actually touching either. However it holds the orbit extremely tightly, have to struggle to take it out (although I mostly keep it in).
this looks like the best quality one:
http://www.pielframa.net/pielframa_productos.asp?id=1690
buts it pricey. I'll see how my Pdaair is after a month .....

im using my 80gb ipod pouch until my case arrives! fits perfectly
Now got the pdair black metal case! its fantastic as the screen is protected.
One problem is you can't get the stylus out if you have an orbit, but a small amount of cutting with a hacksaw should sort that out
I got this case from ebay yesterday, seems very good....
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PDAIR-XDA-ORB...hZ002QQcategoryZ48673QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem
It works very well, all functions accessible, is fairly bulky although and wont sit in car holder very well, however i believe a car holder is available which uses the round clip that comes with the case....

Hi guys,
Just got my Orbit and need to choose a case for it before I use it as its cost a lot of £££ and I want to keep it looking nice.
I'm looking for a case that:
- is small, light and snug fitting so doesn't detract from nice Orbit size / shape
- good protection from knocks and the occasional drop
- easy to get the orbit in and out for when using sat nav in cradle
- looks good
- protects from dirt
- protects the screen when not in use
- still access wi-fi, stylus, ports etc
For those reasons I have discounted the silicon cases and have plumped for either the Krussell leather case (from ebay @ £10 - are they real or fakes?) or the aluminium case...
Both are similar prices, so I am really looking for people have tried one or both for advice on which case best meets the needs above...
Cheers

lol, brilliant! i have a Aluminium Case for my MDACIII which looks great (until it gets scratched ) but is a bit fiddely at times...
Thanks NM8 but I have kind of discounted the sandwich bag and silicon case option.... its def either leather or aluminium...
Think I might just have to get one and give it a try and see what its like... then i'll have to re-sell and buy the other if the first is rubbish!
I actually use a Black Aluminium case for my Artemis which is nice and looks great. Tjhere are so many versions I have the PDAir brand which I think is the best cosmetically (design).
The only problem with it is when I am sending SMS. Because Im right handed, the front of the case gets in the way when opened so I cant use single hand to compose SMS.
Otherwise its a brilliant piece of protection!
I use the silicon case and it's perfect for my needs. I broke one of my pdas because it fell out of my shirt pocket when I picked something up from the floor. The display broke and I had to buy a new one. The silicon case is a little bit sticky. The protection is not the best if you really drop but it's not as bulky as other cases, I have my pda in my pants most of the time. Leater or aluminium would make it too bukly.
Cheers mate, got a silicon case for my K800i and whilst its my preferred option for that phone (along with a screen protector) I wouldn't have one for my Orbit as there is nothing to protect the touch screen...
Still looking for opinions from people who have the aluminium or leather cases what they think...
I have a Krussel, it is good and comes with a belt clip as standard. It has a few drawbacks the worst I guess it that if you use the dashboard hanger the flap falls down over the screen! Other than that it is great! The stiffener in the flap really does protect the screen when it is closed though.
Update... after much thinking and surfing cases i'm considering are:
Case 1 Looks a bit cheap and nasty but I like the style.....
Case 2 - Looks a lot nicer version of the above and seems to have better cut outs on the back. Think this is my fave....
Krussell case - looks nice but most expensive...
Any thoughts appreciated... especially from anyone who has any of the above....
PLUS - not sure whether to go for "book" type opening or "flip up".
Decided against the aluminium case after watching the youtube review and they said you can't get the stylus out without taking it out of the case....
I have been using the Pdair Aluminium case for over 12 months, and believe me it has saved my Artemis on a number of occasions, I have put an Orbit into it and the more rounded corners do indeed hinder the stylus removal, but for protection I would put up with the inconveniance - I have both a silver and Black case, the silver one is like new as I have not used it too often, the black one looks like it has seen a fair bit of service but the Artemis is still like new (thankfully) - probably the best £15 I have spent on a case in a very long time to be honest - Mike
Has anybody come across a clear case which prevents the screen being touched?? need one for use on my motorbike whilst using the satnav.
Thanks in anticipation

Have a look at this thread:

Hi gk141054. Yes, you are quite correct, the PDair aluminium case does stop you removing the stylus - but that is fixed in about 5 minutes with a small round file. Or 20 seconds with a Dremmel!! Just grind a little material from that corner - enough to allow removal of the stylus - and blend the edges in smoothly. I can get the stylus out without even looking - the case now acts as a guide for your fingers.
Can definitely agree with Mike- it is a very neat, robust case, and I've been using mine for 12 months too. The hard plastic sreen is good too - you can see caller ID, alarms, etc, without having to take it out of the case. My case is black, and the number of scratches on the edges show just how good it has been at protecting my Artemis. Good enough that I'm looking for one for my Orbit 2.
Hope this helps.
I'm looking for a universal sleeve (like with BlackBerrys) that fit the Captivate. The inner material has to be really soft, so as not to scratch the phone (obviously). Does anyone know of an easily obtainable and inexpensive product that meets this description?
Is this () what you may be looking for? I had bought this for the Samsung Blackjack II. It fits the Captivate nice and snug too. Samsung branded, good quality, its on Amazon for $6.46.
If the link does not show up in this post put a general search on Amazon for "Samsung i607 Blackjack Flat Lthr Pouch".
I got the neoprene case on ebay for the htc evo
hxxp://cgi.ebay.com/Original-Neoprene-Case-Pouch-HTC-EVO-4G-4-G-/280537161004?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item4151515d2c
it fits the captivate perfectly, but it does have the htc logo on the front that may bother you
pdair makes one specifically for the captivate
http://goo.gl/RYhF
I've been looking for the same thing... EVERYWHERE.... so far this is the only one I can find, and I believe at this point I'm just going to give in and buy it
got my case from pdair... while not what I really wanting it will work...
some more info for those who care:
the inside isn't lined, it's just soft leather.
sides are not solid and by that I mean like this: http://goo.gl/m6Ry obviously different styles but the side is constructed the same, with the top and bottom portions open and a bit of elastic in the middle.
it fits perfect, and it's about as thick/bulky as you'd expect. which leads me to believe it would help a lot in a fall/drop.
seems sturdy and well made all in all a good product.
You could try something like this over at Fommy: http://bit.ly/dAoHBI
I had one like this on my Tilt2 before and worked out pretty well. I was thinking of getting one for my Captivate before I ended up going with a TPU case.
I believe they also have horizontal cases, and other pouches that fit our phones.
they have a case like this at walmart and it didn't fit very well... I guess I'm just worried that a generic case wont fit the phone properly since every generic case Ive tried to fit it in so far has failed to come close to a decent fit.
at $15 I might give it a go though, thanks
This is exactly what I've been looking for. Has any one found one that fits nice and is made for the captivate. I've gone to fry's, bestbuy, radio shack, and walmart, even ones I've found in gas stations don't fit right. Bout to break down and make one.
From a phone on an app
http://bit.ly/c64f91
I bought this when i got my captivate. You can fit the phone in it, but the sleeve is too short for captivate, which block the top part of the sleeve that is meant to close to keep the phone from coming out easily. The phone will slide out if you put the sleeve upside down, but its not a problem for me, so i am still using it.
I too wanted a BlackBerry style sleeve. This is what I use-
krusell-gaia-mobile-pouch
I can't post a link or I would, but I got mine at the AndroidCentral store.
The BB sleeve has those nice rubberized edges to help cushion a fall, and those sleeves are a "little" more stiff than this one, which is mostly just pseudo-leather with a soft inner lining. The edge may still help on a drop, but the most important part...
It goes in and out of your pants pocket nicely while in the sleeve.
There is nearly only 3 types of cases out at the market.
First the hard plastic cases that are coming in 2 parts. There are the glossy ones and the trubberized ones in a wide variety of colors and styles at ebay or Amazon. The quality is OK but not perfect. What I like is the good protection in combination with the acceptable increase of size. The problem is that you nearly can't remove the front part of the case without breaking the very small bars fixing the case to the device. I like the rubberized ones most. They are looking more stable to me than the glossy ones. With the case it's more difficult to slide out the QWERTY keyboard. But it's acceptable. What I like very much is the protection of the on/off button and then loudness buttons. Because without the case I öfter press these keys withooany will.
Then there are the leather cases. There are horizontal and vertical ones. I tried to use the ones for the Samsung Galaxy S2 also, they fit. But of course not together with the hard plastic case together. For that I will try cases made for the HTC Sensation XL. I will share my experiences as soon as I get the cases.
The third category are cases that are blocking the hardware keyboard. That unacceptable for me. I tried rubber cases for the Samsung Galaxy S2 and it worked for one but the fitting is not not really good. The thickness of the device is quite different from most other smartphones.
Hope I could help a little bit and will share my upcoming experiences.
Thanks for checking out the cases, did they the leather/rubber ones block the camera at the back or did it have the correct position for the opening?
The leather ones I tried are for pulling out the device before use.
The rubber one I tried had a big camera hole on the back. But I forgot to check the other connector holes but if I remember correctly some cutting work has to be done. But this is possible with the right tools. Sharp knives and hole cutters for leather/paper.
Best thing is to try the case at a shop. Surely some fits better than others. But I think the Galaxy S2 category is the best you can get. The Galaxy Note ones could be also work, because it's taller but thinner.
The first category cases are made for the device and aren't blocking anything.
I wonder if anyone has tried the one-piece Speck cases yet (can't post links yet, but a Google search for "speck captivate glide" should bring up the page on Speck's site). They look good, but I'm curious if they restrict the sliding mechanism or block the keyboard at all.

Just wanted to share my review, got a hard rubberized case on Amazon from ezbuy123. It's a 2-piece, snap-on. In the past, I've used Otterbox on EVERYTHING, but since they dont have an i927 case out yet, I figured I'd take a chance. The build quality is probably a 3.5/5 - it's hard, it's plastic, it's rubberized, that all is true. The edges of the case around the keyboard area are already starting to get chewed up, and the rubberizing doesnt have any real texture to speak of, I feel like I'm going to drop it when I use it. On the plus side, it isnt a weird neon color, and it doesnt add much bulk or weight to the phone.... All in all, I'd be pressed to give it 4/5 overall, it will definitely be replaced with an Otterbox if they ever decide to make a case for the i927.
Speck Sureslider Case
So I just received the Sureslider case today. I bought it for 24 dollars (from versiomobile before they charged 35 ).
Here's my review on it:
It's a one piece piece that has a hard plastic back with polycarbonate. On the front, it's made up of TPE (thermoplastic elastomer). The TPE gives the case a lip from the screen of the phone. It still slides when you put it on its face but not by much. Only the top part actually clips onto the phone. The back plate just kinda sticks to the phone.. somewhat. There's basically no restriction when you're sliding it, it feels like it's not even there. Regarding the top keys of the qwerty keyboard, it might've moved a nanometer, but not to significant to affect your typing.
Honestly, I don't think the price of $35 is worth it. I'd say it'd be more fair around 13 dollars. It also comes with a one-year warranty, so maybe that's where the high price came from?
The Sureslider case is technically a "one-piece" but when I got it, somehow the connection between the bottom and top part became loose and the top part came out. Needless to say, i thought it was going to be an easy fix. It wasn't . You can't just "slide" it into one piece since there's a hook and a little clip at the bottom to provide stability. After I managed to get the piece together, I went through the packaging, and there was this small instruction slip. It said "If the case becomes separated by mistake, align the two pieces and fit back together."
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
I got the rubberized texture case from ebay (shop4phree*). 5 bucks included shipping. Just to get something on the phone quick before I scractched it. I have to say for being so cheap it has help up surprisingly well. I was going to go for a higher end case at a later time but it's now going on 2 months and I haven't felt the need to switch. The only drawbacks I can see is it interferes with the smoothness of the slide out keyboard (requires a little more finger power to push it up) and the extra bulk it adds makes your top row of keys a little tight when typing(especially with big fingers).Ive dropped my phone a couple of times and it has held intact.
Im a cheap bastard so my $5 case works great for me.
Amzer cases
Well i managed to snap the feelers on my first case (the black rubberized one), so I've moved on to an Amzer case from Amazon. It's a 2-piece, snap-together advertised as "one piece". The build quality is probably a 3/5 - it's hard, it's plastic, it's rubberized on the back half, but the front half is clear hard-poly that looks awful (definitely not at all like what the pic on Amazon makes it look). It doesnt add much bulk or weight to the phone, but it is slightly bulkier than the previous case I reviewed. Hopefully Otterbox will come up with a case for the i927 soon, I'm quickly tiring of these cases...
L4T
http://www.daydeal.com/home.php?cat=6439
Haven't tried any of them but their stuff is good.
Body Glove Captivate Glide
I just received the Body Glove two-piece case for the Glide. It's $30 from AT&T, but I got it from All4Cellular for less (it's also on Amazon for even cheaper, which is a bit annoying as it was out of stock when I last looked there). It's pricey, but highly reviewed on AT&T's site.
It looks high-quality (none of that gummy rubber sort of stuff) and fits snugly. A bit too snugly, actually, as it was fairly difficult to get on and (according to other owners) nigh impossible to get off. On the plus side, that means it's not going to just pop off in your pocket.
The case fully covers the back of the phone (except for holes for the camera, flash, microphone, speaker, and buttons), and on the front, it covers the bezel. It doesn't interfere with the sliding at all, though the front cover does stick out enough to potentially cause problems with the top row of physical keyboard keys. That said, the keyboard side of the front cover has a little cutout at the bottom that may alleviate that problem a bit. I haven't noticed any major difficulties typing so far.
As with any two-piece case, there's a gap between the pieces where the phone slides, so it's not going to protect from anything getting between the phone halves. Also, it only comes in one color--a metallic blue sort of look--so if that's not your thing, you're out of luck.
I'd give it four out of five stars, knocking off a star for the difficulty in getting it off, though I'd recommend it for the build quality.
Does anyone know of a otterbox case from another phone that would fit this one for protection? (commuter or defender)
And what about silicone cases? Soft ones I mean..
There's a Case Mate Barely There case now available for the Glide, you can find it on Amazon. Did anyone try it?
Mom is with ATT so she picked the Captivate Glide cuz I have Epic. LoL Basically, she also want a slide-out keyboard.
I ordered this for her on eBay.
http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=64678
One problem, the sellers posted different quality. Some say hard plastic and some say rubberized. I went with a seller that said rubberized with good reviews. $7 with free shipping. I'm waiting on that to arrive and see how it feels
Just a question, since I'm not a native english speaker:
what does 'rubberized' mean? Does the term refer to a hard case with soft grip or to a flexible silicone-like case that you can even bend and it keeps the shape?
Thanks

I agree with your comments. This case is much better quality than the no-name clear ones I've seen elsewhere. It is a pain to install / remove, but I like it tight, lol. I've had cases for other phones where it comes off easy, and they become a pain in the @ss.
They are the most expensive I've seen, but worth the price if it saves your phone from just one concrete ground fall.
