Is it possible to have my device start a specific program (or collection of programs) when I insert it into a car kit?
The CAR_ON# pin for example... Can I have this detected and trigger a program to run? Or the Sense pin?
No one?
Can anyone confirm what happens when the SENSE pin is connected? I gather it ends any active call when you connect to it (like how most cordless phones will hang up when put back in the base).

Hi Guys,
I've nabbed a damaged Artemis from work...
Reportedly, this unit was dropped in the bath, and o2 say it's the internal battery charging circuit that's been damaged.
Because of this, the unit wont charge, though it works fine when connected to external power.
What I'd like to do is use this as a tethered GPS device...
1. Hardwire a car charger into the car for power
2. Have the phone automatically turn GPS on
3. Insert a data-contract sim
4. On recieving a specific command via text, transmit it's gps position over the data card or via sms
Basically - use it as a vehicle tracking system.
Does software that'll even remotely do anything like this exist, or maybe one of you programming guru's here could write some sort of script to do this?
Just an idea before I resign and bin this puppy...

Google for and download Vito FindMe. Its free but requires activation.
Install and specify a secret word that triggers the app to activate gps and send the devices gps location to the sender.
Make sure you set up your QuickGPS to update automatically.
Buy a spare battery and charging stand! lol!
mobile justice
mobile justice is a much better program and is dead easy, even if some sod finds the phone and swaps the SIM Mjustice will tell you the new number allowing you to send a wee txt to it and gain exact GPS location, if you build the MJustice in to the ROM even a hard reset will leave it working, if they reflash it then all methods are no good.
I have a bluetooth dongle attached to my PC running Windows
When trying to pair it with my Desire, the PC displays one passcode, the Desire another. As such, I can't get them to pair.
Normally the PC auto selects the code, then the phone asks you to type it in. But here the phone is displaying a message asking if the device displaying the code xxxxx can be connected, so I can't change the code on either device and so cant pair.
Any ideas?
Cheers.
Bluetooth
I'm having kind of the same issue, i cant seem to transfer the files/pics/music to another device.......it searches then stops......... can sumone please help? ta
just wondering if anyone might have an idea on how i can get my Desire to connect to a nokia in car handsfree kit... which connects via bluetooth..
I assumed all bluetooth devices could talk to each other but when i turn my bluetooth on and press the button in car to search for devices it fails to locate my desire....
Anyone got a workaround or idea on any way to get it to work??
Cheers for any advice
p.s. its a new car i just got.. and it had the kit already fitted
i assume the lack of replys indicates im not getting this sorted ;0(

Usually you use the phone to search for devices: Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks > Check Bluetooth > Bluetooth Settings > Scan for Devices > Select your nokia device
Kit to find the phone, you will need to make the phone Discoverable: Follow the steps above, instead of Scan for Devices check Discoverable. But like I said before, use the phone to search for your car's handsfree kit.
As above make sure the phone is set to be visible and search for the nokia kit from the phone when the little led is flashing constantly (assuming it's one of those little button type nokia kits)
I had one working fine with my desire - from memory it could answer the call but couldnt hang up, was fine in call though.
I have two Nokia CK-7W Bluetooth car kits in my vehicles which work well with two different phones. The car kits are both connected to the car stereo and conveniently mute the audio when on a call. They automatically pair when I get in the car most of the time, and if not, there is a button from the car kit to initiate the search.
I thought getting two of the same reliable devices would be a no-brainer, but i have found a shortcoming.
The car kits each have the same Bluetooth connection name: "Nokia CK-7W".
On my Nokia phone I can rename the connections to a user-friendly and more importantly unique name, allowing me to have both pairings listed and connect to either car. I know that Blackberry phones allow this customization also.
With my Android phone I cannot find a place to change the Bluetooth connection name, so I cannot pair a second device with the same connection name, even though it has a different Bluetooth MAC. Even if I could have two pairings with the same name, there would be confusion about which one to activate.
Am I missing something?
Thanks for any help or suggestions.
(I know I can get another car kit with a different name, but that's not ideal.)
Sorry to bump up an old thread, but I've been trying to find a solution to (almost) this exact issue. Is there a solution?
Bump ... anyone?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
I've searched all over for this and I haven't found a solution. I've even decompiled APKs and deodexed the bluetooth odex searching for some clue on any way to change this, but I haven't found anything.
I've actually found a workaround in my particular case, but I'm still curious as to why this is happening and how no one has noticed...
So my Galaxy S3 will not pair with a bluetooth SPP device that has no passcode. I've paired with devices that support SSP without a passcode, but I can't pair with insecure devices. The reason I am trying to do this is because I need to stream GNSS data to a GPS receiver. The receiver is a Navcom SF-3040. For anyone searching, the workaround was to change to the PIN on the device to something other than "no pin". It was a pain in the ass though considering I can't find any 64 bit driver for this receiver and had to find a 32 bit Windows PC to use.
But my question still remains and I'm curious if anyone knows anything about this. After I successfully paired my phone with the receiver, I deleted the profile off my phone and I deleted the PIN from the receiver again just to reset it and see if it would work, but it didn't. The phone would still ask me for a PIN even when the device didn't have one, and there's no option to continue without inputting a PIN. Inputting any standard PIN like "0000" or "1234" didn't work. The only way to pair my phone with the receiver was to set a PIN for it.
