Question: Is there a rule to forbid foreign Languages in XDA-DEVELOPERS? - About xda-developers.com

Hi Guys,
I recently received a private message from a moderator saying that all my post will be deleted if I continue open threads in spanish....
I would like to know if there is a rule on XDA-DEVELOPERS about openning SEPARATE threads in spanish or any foreign language... I agree that if a thread is opened in english all should post in english but if someone start a thread in a foreign language, I want to help him, I understand his language and he doesn't uderstand English, WHY SHOULD I POST IN ENGLISH?
That's no make sense to me...
Fortunately I understand some foreign languages and can HELP others on flashing/upgrading their PDAs... That's the reason of these forums: to help others and share interesting info... or isn't it????
Please let me know if I'm wrong or there is a rule to post in english only ...

xda-developers is an English forum, for the benefit of all our members we appreciate that all members post in English. We won't kill anyone who post in another language but we generally don't allow it unless the user posts in two languages, english and native.
Here you have an example of an allowed post in Spanish
----

As I said, I don't have any problem posting in English, but what about those that need help and publish in a certain language? Should we just ignore them, post in double-language as you did (for me is a waste of time) or can we answer to them without a moderator try to delete their/our posts?
I was searching what you said about keeping all post in a single language and couldn't find it... is that a kind of "secred agreement" or what?

cesarr4: This matter has already been discussed by moderators. And we all came to agreement that we shouldnt allow post in foreign languages on xda-devs forum. Period. We can't provide support for all nations. Imagine what would happen if everyone posted problems in his native language.
Unless the post has an english translation, it won't be permitted here. Sorry.

I totally agree with it and i've been used to it since i started using forums but... the two languages requirement (or at least the English) should be written in the forum rules to avoid misunderstanding, threads like this and threads completely in Turkish, Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese (in my case), etc..

There are exceptional cases where you will need a gazillion language to send a message through. Example -->

I can help anyone who needs help in Spanish, French, English or Portuguese.

How to change english language WM2003_SE to spanish?

Hi,
I'd like to have a spanish interface, or at least a spanish dictionary of "suggested word", so that I can use special symbols as "ñ" or "accents" when I'm using the keyboard in my Himalaya.
Please help me.
Thanx a million.
Hi,
If you are using the on-screen keyboard, the enye is accessible by clicking the au key (bottom left, after ctrl).
HTH
languages require a new rom hardcoded to the language
the 2003SE was translated from chinese to english by hand by people here
and since 2003SE have only and will only by the looks of it ever come out in any other language then chinese for xda2
it would require somebody doing alot of work

1. Look in to your \Windows\ files the following Zi8datSP.Z8d (This is the Spanish Database for EziText) - It will be ONLY in Phones with WM5 and Using Ezitext being sold in Spanish or other area where Spanish is first or second language.
2. If you found it, please copy the file in your computer and be kindly on providing this file in the post.

Perdona, pero mi español no es bueno. Te es necesario el fichero Zi8datSP.Z8d de gigabyte i120 con la lengua necesaria. Por ejemplo aquí SP significa español.

Despite the initial message being totally misplaced and not using English, the language he used was PORTUGUESE, not SPANISH
isn´t Portugal a province of Spain ?????
Of course Portugal is not a spanish province
It's as easy as checking wikipedia (less than 5 sec).
hummm
maybe he should have read before he posted....
Portugal as province of Spain is a joke that only a Portuguese guy will understand.
Anyway one moderator should delete this post because is out of his place.
Cheers from a paradise called Portugal ;P

O2 XDA EXEC update ROM WM5

I thought I had posted a link to the file already, but I have had a few requests recently, so here it is:
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=87ef493cb5e810bad2db6fb9a8902bda
That should be the manual and the upgrade file. In the original zip file I got there was also a program pack. I'll look and see if I can find those and I will post a link when I can.
Please make sure you are familiar and comfortable with the idea of re-flashing your device. If you are not comfortable doing it, keep reading these boards until you are. I'm not an expert on the matter so I will not field questions on how to use these files: the manual is included, please read it. I did, and that's how I learned to use it.
Enjoy!
Is that the original wm5 ROM form O2?

[Q] Help translating Android/Sense to your language

Hi. I hope this is the right section to post this question. So...
I've flashed many roms and noticed that none have Brazilian Portuguese language for obvious reasons.
So, my question is: as Android has ptBR language on another rom (not for DHD), can we (Brazilian) halp in anyway to translate some files for you chef's to include our language on your roms ? And how about Sense UI? It's possible to translate it too ?
I can translate (despite my not so good english) and a couple of friends can help too.
cara, voce ja tentou "portugues (espanha)" presente em todas as roms? Tenho certeza que é pt-br escrito errado. Dá uma testada aí.
Abs
there are two portuguese languages to chose, "portugues (portugal)" (this is the europe one) and the second is "portugues (espanha)", as i know that in spain they don't speak portuguese i gave it a try and it is, as a matter of facts, pt-br, htc just mess with it... as i said, it's not europe portuguese, it's just brazillian portuguese in a wrong label. please try it now and tell me what do you see wrong...
edit: if someone here is from spain and speak portuguese, please correct me! =o)
All posts have to be in English. Please follow the rules.
Cheers,
nice.. I'll give it a try. Agreed in turning back to english. Let's see.
if you agree that it is pt-br, i do support ask to the chefs just change label for the future... =o)
as i use it in english and don't really noticed many brazillian here, it never bothered me!
thiagodark 1000% agreed. That's pure ptBR, and I can't foud any problems with the language rules. Just a screen translated to "Exibição" and not "Tela" but it's a minor detail. The label it's another minor detail. Now I can say to other that's ptBR suport. Thanks for the advice.
Well, in english is "display", not "screen", so I think "exibicao" is more accurate anyway... )

Did you ever find how to translate?
