Artemis = SPV M650 Orange Poland - P3300, MDA Compact III General

Hello.
I have SPV M650 Orange in Poland.
I have problem with GPS, can’t find signal.
I will download QuickGPS, and execute map from micro SD card.
And I have still message “search GPS signal”, and nothing happened.
Please help.
Tom.

Try to search sattelite signal on the open space not under the roof.
First time you can wait up to 1/2 hour.
If You haven't any GPS apps download TT driver 2.06 : http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=121
Settings: choose from top drop down box "NMEA 0183v2 9600"
Second drop box "COM4" for communication .

I have the same problem I`m installed TT ,but the same, status - gps is on , but no recieving data...
PLease, somebody , help!

The setting should be set to Settings: "NMEA 0183v2 9600" for the GPS to work. I have the same phone and cannot lock to GPS unless I use this setting.

Thanks All I solve this problem.
Thanks All I solve this problem.
1. Download “VisualGPSce” from http://www.freewareppc.com
2. In “Settings” (Ustawienia) “GPS” set :
3. “Software” (Programy) = COM4
4. “Device” (Sprzęt) = COM5 , 4800
5. OK.
6. Test signal from “VisualGPSce”
7. OK
8. In AutoMapa „Settings” – “GPS” set COM4, 4800 in page 1
9. Page 2 All switch Off

Upgrading Orange ROM to imate Jasjar ROM

Hello,
I've just received my SPV M5000 and I'm loving it. However I do have a few niggles. Freezing, took ages to get skype to work, unable to install Tom Tom navigator 5.0.
I've heard that the imate Jasjar ROM is more reliable than Orange ROM.
Any information on the following questions would be much appreciated.
Does the imate ROM contain skype?
Where abouts can I locate the imate ROM?
How do install the ROM?
Can Tom Tom navigator run on the device?
Thanks in advance.
TomTom runs on the orange ROM. Its the installation that has problems, and that is to do with the installation package not liking WM5/Activesync 4
You can install TTN by copying over the 5 cab files manually and running them on the device, you will also want to find the 5.1 update cab.
If you do a search you will find the cab, and the information on this board. It took me 15 mins all in.
I know it doesn't answer your question, but might save you turning your phone into a brick!!
Also, are you on orange? If so, how the hell are you going to afford to use skype after the 3months 3g trial ends?
Thanks for that.
In response to your question. I won't really be using Skype over 3g. I will only use within Wireless Haotspots using WiFi.
As I am a complete thicky, would you be able to spoon feed me the installation of Tom Tom to my Universal. Where to install, what, etc and the upgrade?
Thanks in advance.
toptaggy,
I'm an irregular poster on here but found myself in the position of having a genuine registered copy of TomTom Navigator 5 and unable to use it on my M5000 having just upgraded from the M1000 and M2000.
Elsewhere on this forum, I found thie following which is a very helpful guide to installing TTN5 with Bluetooth GPS.
Hope it works for you too.
F
TomTom
There are 3 key steps in making TomTom 5 work on an i-mate JasJar with a Bluetooth GPS.
Many tips are scattered around in different Forums.
Here is a COMPLETE overview of what to do.
STEP 1 : INSTALL TOMTOM5
You do this by copying the CAB files from the CDROM (eg F:\PocketPC) to the JasJar and launch one by one from there with the explorer of the JasJar.
You can install voices the same manner by copying the CAB files to the Jasjar (eg from F:\Voice on the CDROM)
STEP 2 : UPGRADE TO V5.1
http://www.htcclub.net/storage/ppcupd510.rar
Extract and copy the files to a folder on the JasJar and install them from there.
STEP 3 : ACTIVATE THE GPS CONTROL PANEL
Fire up a registry editor (eg http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/phmregistryeditor.shtml )
Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MASCHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings
Delete the DWORD marked "hide"
Add a DWORD called "Group" and give it the value of "2" (dec)
The GPS panel will now show up in your connection settings.
STEP 4 : INSTALL TOMTOM5
1. Establish a bond with your GPS and select the checkbox for serial access.
2. In BT, select the OUTGOING port to 8.
3. In the GPS control panel, select the GPS program to 0 and make sure that the hardware one, is set to None.
4. Start TT5 and the GPS settings, select another bluetooth GPS, and you will see COM 0 free. Select COM 0 and close TT5.
5. At the GPS control panel again, now select COM 8 (before we set it up at 0).
6. At BT: select OUTGOING port to 0.
7. Back again to GPS control panel and select NONE.
8. Finally start TT5 and it should connect automatically. Wait for a couple of seconds and click the GPS settings and you should see it has connected.
Hi toptaggy
So far I was never happy with Orange ROMs. But I have a suggestion for you as long a realy good ROM is not avalable.
I installed the VGA tool. With this one the screen is much faster, specialy when turning the screen.
Than with the Total Commander CE the extended ROM is visible (just tip in the adress bar: Extended_ROM ). Here you can fist backup it and than remove unneccessary file as Orange ring tones etc. This will free up you some memory.
With this config my M5000 is working 50% faster as the standard out of the box.
A pitty is that the slider in the memory setting is missing as you had it in W2003 SE.
Cheers
What is the VGA tool and where can it be obtained from ???

troubleshooting devices ...
hello, I need some info from the developer:
In the tab 'GPSinfo' I see on the top line 'Date' :
Is this calculated from the GPS signal or what?
My problem:
I can run GPSinfo on two identical devices, Pharos 600e, WM6.1
On the first one, it works OK and I get GPS lock, and the 'Date' field is updated with the current date
On the second, identical device, I can not get GPS lock, the 'Date' field shows a date in 2006 "2006/04/16"
On both devices the GPS driver seems to work, I see the GPS light blinking, and the NMEA data scrolling in the 'Setup' field of the program.
I suspect a (hardaware?software?) problem with the second device and I am trying to troubleshoot the issue..
Any advice?
Thanks in Advance !

Try setting External GPS - in Start -Settings-System - to one of COM1,COM4 or COM8. Live Hardware at COM9,baud 4800 and Access thicked.Reset IGO8 to default settings and then try autodetect for GPS.
Depending on your ROM,one of this settings will work.Repeat for each COM setting to see wich on gives you faster GPS lock.
For the first time be patient with GPS lock -it could take 10-15 min.

Set External GPS
Program : Com1
Hardware : Com9 , baud rate : 28800
Access : checked
Enhanced GPS
XTRA Enable : Enable
Restart and retry
If you set GPD1 in External GPS (Program)
Garmin MobileXT can access it but iGO8 can't, that's why

Hi m8,
I know this will not help you much. I have the same unit but with mio maps and trying to install tomtom 7 on it but whit no luck. Any chance you could explain tome how you got working? or made a copy of your SD car and upload. I'm so frustrated with it, spend almost 3 days and no luck.
Thanks for the help and SORRY I can't help you.
Cheers

Just unrar and copy that to sd card and choose tomtom navigator.exe in gps path. This tomtom is with polish language but you can change that in menu. You need maps 8 with 22 meta or 7 maps for this tt and activate with tt8_keygen2.exe for 8 maps and tt7_keygen.exe for 7 maps.
Sorry for my english...
You can try http://rapidshare.com/users/M9JTJL i think you can choose language with this one...
Problem solve
Hi yonasz,
I was able to fix the problem, but thanks for the upload.
This is what I have done:
I run a little scrip (TT7 Navigator.mscr) that will pop up the power settings window before TomTom run. This will keep you the chance to change the " Switch State to user idle " from 1 minute to never. You must be quick as it will stay open for about 5 to 10 sec. only.
To run this script you need a few files in your TomTom directory. I have create a TT7WinCE.rar with all this files. Ones you done you just remove only the "TT7 Navigator.exe" and the "TT7 Navigator.mscr" everything else leaved in there.
One more thing you need to edit the "TT7 Navigator.mscr" and point to your TomTom Directory TomTom Navigator.exe, use notepad for it. Here is how my looks:
Errorlevel ("off")
Run( "ctlpnl.exe", "cplmain.cpl,5,1" )
WaitFor( "Power Properties", 5 )
SendOK( "Power Properties" )
RunWait ("\SDMMC\TomTom\TomTom Navigator.exe")
Exit
Here the link to the files: http://rapidshare.com/files/174215677/TT7WinCE.rar
If you need any help let me know, I glad to help out.
Cheers
Gyga
I have my own script for tt7
RegWriteDword ("HKLM", "System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\UserIdle","Default",0)
#start TT
Run("\SDMMC\Navigator\TomTom Navigator.exe")
I run tt7 from tt-run.exe from gps menu (gps ,music etc). You have to change path in TT-Run.mscr to your Tomtom Navigator.exe if you dont have it like that:
\SDMMC\Navigator\TomTom Navigator.exe
http://rapidshare.com/files/174321988/tt-run.zip.html
I just click on gps icon in menu and wait 5 sec and tomtom is ready to use.
Sorry for my english....

How to auto connect to external BT-GPS

Hi every one,
I have paired an external BT GPS , and every time that i want to use it with TomTom or Oziexplorer, i have to manually connect to it as BT manager ask.
Any clue on doing this automatically as it was before in other devices with Broadcom stack?
Thanks.
Try to install "GPSGATE 2" ...
GPSGATE will create a virtual port that u can use with TT or Ozie.
for example : GPSGATE found my Royaltek (by Bluetooth) and do a virtual port com 4 (u can choose the number), after that, in tomtom or Ozie i choose my "gpsgate virtual" port 4 (i believe it's named "Franson" port) ...
...and that's all !
GPSGATE must be start with your device (see in options) ...

That is one of the things that i tried, but still asking if i want to connect it.
Thanks any away.
Strange...because, as i start TT, gpsgate look after my BT GPS and switch on automatically BT on TP2...and connect to GPS !
I do nothing, only start TT ...
I think that the difference between us is that mine is an Spanish rom.
Also i can't change the settings for external gps at wm settings page.
Perhaps it is a bug on Spanish rom, who knows.
