Hi every one,
I have paired an external BT GPS , and every time that i want to use it with TomTom or Oziexplorer, i have to manually connect to it as BT manager ask.
Any clue on doing this automatically as it was before in other devices with Broadcom stack?
Thanks.
Try to install "GPSGATE 2" ...
GPSGATE will create a virtual port that u can use with TT or Ozie.
for example : GPSGATE found my Royaltek (by Bluetooth) and do a virtual port com 4 (u can choose the number), after that, in tomtom or Ozie i choose my "gpsgate virtual" port 4 (i believe it's named "Franson" port) ...
...and that's all !
GPSGATE must be start with your device (see in options) ...

That is one of the things that i tried, but still asking if i want to connect it.
Thanks any away.
Strange...because, as i start TT, gpsgate look after my BT GPS and switch on automatically BT on TP2...and connect to GPS !
I do nothing, only start TT ...
I think that the difference between us is that mine is an Spanish rom.
Also i can't change the settings for external gps at wm settings page.
Perhaps it is a bug on Spanish rom, who knows.

Hello,
I've just received my SPV M5000 and I'm loving it. However I do have a few niggles. Freezing, took ages to get skype to work, unable to install Tom Tom navigator 5.0.
I've heard that the imate Jasjar ROM is more reliable than Orange ROM.
Any information on the following questions would be much appreciated.
Does the imate ROM contain skype?
Where abouts can I locate the imate ROM?
How do install the ROM?
Can Tom Tom navigator run on the device?
Thanks in advance.
TomTom runs on the orange ROM. Its the installation that has problems, and that is to do with the installation package not liking WM5/Activesync 4
You can install TTN by copying over the 5 cab files manually and running them on the device, you will also want to find the 5.1 update cab.
If you do a search you will find the cab, and the information on this board. It took me 15 mins all in.
I know it doesn't answer your question, but might save you turning your phone into a brick!!
Also, are you on orange? If so, how the hell are you going to afford to use skype after the 3months 3g trial ends?
Thanks for that.
In response to your question. I won't really be using Skype over 3g. I will only use within Wireless Haotspots using WiFi.
As I am a complete thicky, would you be able to spoon feed me the installation of Tom Tom to my Universal. Where to install, what, etc and the upgrade?
Thanks in advance.
toptaggy,
I'm an irregular poster on here but found myself in the position of having a genuine registered copy of TomTom Navigator 5 and unable to use it on my M5000 having just upgraded from the M1000 and M2000.
Elsewhere on this forum, I found thie following which is a very helpful guide to installing TTN5 with Bluetooth GPS.
Hope it works for you too.
F
TomTom
There are 3 key steps in making TomTom 5 work on an i-mate JasJar with a Bluetooth GPS.
Many tips are scattered around in different Forums.
Here is a COMPLETE overview of what to do.
STEP 1 : INSTALL TOMTOM5
You do this by copying the CAB files from the CDROM (eg F:\PocketPC) to the JasJar and launch one by one from there with the explorer of the JasJar.
You can install voices the same manner by copying the CAB files to the Jasjar (eg from F:\Voice on the CDROM)
STEP 2 : UPGRADE TO V5.1
http://www.htcclub.net/storage/ppcupd510.rar
Extract and copy the files to a folder on the JasJar and install them from there.
STEP 3 : ACTIVATE THE GPS CONTROL PANEL
Fire up a registry editor (eg http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/phmregistryeditor.shtml )
Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MASCHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings
Delete the DWORD marked "hide"
Add a DWORD called "Group" and give it the value of "2" (dec)
The GPS panel will now show up in your connection settings.
STEP 4 : INSTALL TOMTOM5
1. Establish a bond with your GPS and select the checkbox for serial access.
2. In BT, select the OUTGOING port to 8.
3. In the GPS control panel, select the GPS program to 0 and make sure that the hardware one, is set to None.
4. Start TT5 and the GPS settings, select another bluetooth GPS, and you will see COM 0 free. Select COM 0 and close TT5.
5. At the GPS control panel again, now select COM 8 (before we set it up at 0).
6. At BT: select OUTGOING port to 0.
7. Back again to GPS control panel and select NONE.
8. Finally start TT5 and it should connect automatically. Wait for a couple of seconds and click the GPS settings and you should see it has connected.
Hi toptaggy
So far I was never happy with Orange ROMs. But I have a suggestion for you as long a realy good ROM is not avalable.
I installed the VGA tool. With this one the screen is much faster, specialy when turning the screen.
Than with the Total Commander CE the extended ROM is visible (just tip in the adress bar: Extended_ROM ). Here you can fist backup it and than remove unneccessary file as Orange ring tones etc. This will free up you some memory.
With this config my M5000 is working 50% faster as the standard out of the box.
A pitty is that the slider in the memory setting is missing as you had it in W2003 SE.
Cheers
What is the VGA tool and where can it be obtained from ???

Hi,
tomorrow i have to go abroad, and i want to use my QTEK9000 as a route planner.I have the following problem during the initialization of my bluetooth GPS device(HOLUX GPSlim236):
the bluetooth manager recognizes the device, but when i want to select a COM port as an outcoming port, i get the following error for port 1,2,3,5,6,7,9:
THE COM PORT COULD NOT BE CREATED.PLEASE CHECK YOUR SETTINGS AND TRY AGAIN
I want to use the GPS under Destinator PN and the software allows only COM 1,2,3,6,7,9 to select. But under bluetooth manager each of these ports results the same error(only COM port 4,8 and 0 is good). What could I do? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THX
Just read this topic.
It is very usefull.

Help me plizz
Try setting External GPS - in Start -Settings-System - to one of COM1,COM4 or COM8. Live Hardware at COM9,baud 4800 and Access thicked.Reset IGO8 to default settings and then try autodetect for GPS.
Depending on your ROM,one of this settings will work.Repeat for each COM setting to see wich on gives you faster GPS lock.
For the first time be patient with GPS lock -it could take 10-15 min.

Try hard reset your i780, reinstall IGO8 then repeat all of the above.
Back-up your data first !

Set External GPS
Program : Com1
Hardware : Com9 , baud rate : 28800
Access : checked
Enhanced GPS
XTRA Enable : Enable
Restart and retry
If you set GPD1 in External GPS (Program)
Garmin MobileXT can access it but iGO8 can't, that's why

I'm using my pda *only* with BT sync, a lot of BEAUTIFUL roms lack of this!
I've goggled about this and searched in registry to find the fix. I do not have much time to try this but may be only a trgistry fix, take a look at these links and compare 2 registry of 2 roms where on the 1 work.
I think the bug is in Bluetooth control panel applet which will not create registry entries in RasBook, and also in rom where Bt sync does not work there is no PPP via Bluetooth connection.

--------------- OBSOLETE ------ look at chanvi93 post ----------------

I can confirm my last opinion: it's a XIP lack, no reg, no dll, no fix
because the XIP lack of "Bluetooth Device" extension.
Working 6.1 XIP are bundled here (tested):
- tnyynt 011
- karmba
- finixnover 3.6
Next weekend I will try to find XIP differences, thank you for wait
You can use RasTool.exe to see what ras devices have you got.
20080923
Done a lot of new test-mergin-building new roms, no good news:
- exchanging dll from a working rom to other via cab or ncb does not solve the bug
- merging registry does not solve the bug
* may be the XIP? may be the boot.rgu?
I have discovered what does not work on the wrong rom: it does not "have" the "Bluetooth Device" in RAS, this will abort creating the RasBook entry. If you can create via API the rasentry, this will NOT work! because the rom does not complain the Bluetooth gateway.
What can I do? I can say if we can find the fix, we will can build also a Activesync via TCP!! or vpn if you need. because it will be a rasentry, manually created.
What's next? I will try to make syncing using existing wifi connection.
20080922
I've done some test with and w/o BT sync... I've found interesting differences between 2 roms: Rasbook is not updated on w/O BT sync!
I've attached the missing registry entries, using this reg on the same pda but with the other rom is will "try" to popup the connection dialog... this may be a good starting point! because if I can understand how to write the right Rasbook entries I can write a program which fix this bad bug
--------------------- OBSOLETE end -----------------------------------
These are only my 2 cents, may be we can find the fix together
Tommorrow I will read some msdn documentation...
Good night people!
this will be very appreciated, THANK YOU for what you are doing, your topbar app is really wonderfull, i know that you'll solve this problem too
I was going to open a post too because with two roms I've tried (ervius and elegance) I can't activesync with bluetooth. I'm not so expert as you but what I've seen is this. With a device that can sync with bluetooth when the pda has found the pc with activesync it checks the serial port and see that there's AS on that port. You can clearly see it because the AS icon get green and start rotating. While with a pda that doesn't connect the pda only see that there's a serial port connection available but doesn't try to connect to it to check what's connected there so it doesn't find AS and can't give it as a service.
I tried all the different bluetooth stack (toshiba, widcomm, bluesoleil and microsoft) and spent a lot of time on that but found that the problem is rom related as you say.
If you have any idea on how th solve this issue I'd be glad to help.
Oh and I'm Italian too so if you want you can PM me in Italian!

I tryed the trick, and doensn't work
tonight, I tryed a lot of roms, wm6.0 and wm6.1, the one that seems work with actsync service on bt is "DOPOD" original wm 6.0, but when I try to insert bigstorage or 6.1 xip, also it lost the actsync service on bt.....
any idea????
The reg dont work correctly, i can test
Bluetooth system WM 6.1 for ActiveSync
I am a new cooker of French’s Rom and I saw many subjects treating the problem of ActiveSync by Bluetooth, I found recently a BT system of the build 19217 which has this function and I port it on 2 SYS: 20275 and 20755 ( in development with Home UI ++) and in my big surprise that works. You can add an other XIP , it work also .
BT system link : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OBH1TV0J
SYS 20275 040C (French) language :
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=J76YTT20
You can try these 2 Roms before to cook if you want but its are in French language :
My Manila2D Rom with Xip 19971 and Sys 20275 : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZPYG4L4O
After the first reboot just install youtubeplayer.cab in the boot folder and active FtouchFlo in Démarrer_Programmes_Outils ; you have an full Manila2D Rom .
My recently Lite Rom with Xip + Sys 20755 : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=K98KLYTA
For the others Rom users , i had created a small soft , install it in Main Memory ;
In last step of the sponsoring of the BT, type on "Advanced" then about " Serial port", a new page will open, click " Serial port" and "ActiveSync" then "OK".
Open Activsync and in menu choose in "Menu" Bluetooth connection ".
Excuse me for my poor English .
YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!!
I installed the cab you just placed here and now everything works fine and flawlessly!
I have no words to thank you!!!!
If you are a beginner cooker well I must admit you are really good!
Thanks again
ASync BT
I've tryed on 5.22222 Ervius Rom but it doesn't work. I don't see any com port in the menu "advanced" when i want to create a bt connection
After Pin code 0000 on PPc and PC , left softkey is :"Done" ; right softkey is : "Advanced" , click on advanced , on the next page click in the case "Serial Port" then "Save" , a new page will open and click on the case "Serial Port and "ActivSync" .
MMMMM unfortunately it did not worked for me. It displayed AS icon, but never connected.
I HAVE my previous computer BT pairing showing ActiveSync as an option (selected and working), I've had my actual computer with ActiveSync, ¡and Synced!
But suddenly ActiveSync dissapeared from my current laptop settings, and Active Sync option has neven been shown again, no way to link via Serial Port or the utility in this thread.
NO ACTIVE SYNC PROFILE EVER SHOWN AS AN OPTION. (without patch I mean)
Any idea on how to make it back AND WORK?

My BTTools work only if you have "serial port" pairing , no solution without it, the BT system of the Rom is incomplete.

Noted, Thanks.
BTW it "returned" after changing some settings in AS COM Ports without "serial" port pairing, but I'm unable to fully explain the thing. Just be sure your "Allow connecting one of the following: COM X" in your PC Active Sync connections Settings is set to COM 7
Hope it helps, a really confusing and not well documented issue.
Hello,
TMC works now with hypergps beta 5 and igo8 on the xperia.

Thank you beemer!
hello i've tried this like 50 times, but it doesn't work for me.
Can someone make a step by step instruction for iGO8?
or just post the sys.txt and the system.ini and the hypergps-settings.
thx in advance.

It isn't that hard anymore. I only have to perform these steps after a rom flash:
1. Install hypergps beta 8
2. Start hypergps
3. Push 'TMC' button
4. Plugin headphones to function as antenna
5. Start iGo (you can close hypergps, but it's not necessary)
6. TMC unit is probably recognised by iGo. If not, go to Menu - Settings (page 2) - TMC and search for TMC receiver. If it's not found fast, try to set it to search for Royaltek protocol on COM9 (standard values in HyperGPS)
7. Go to navigation mode and wait for TMC messages to come in.
You can check TMC messages (messages display an envelope or warning triangle icon below 'next move' area) by pushing in the right top of the screen (battery / gps meter) and after that the TMC icon (3rd icon in the low part of the screen)
There's no need (anymore) to change any stuff in system.ini or sys.txt. If you have done so in your attempts, put a ; in front of a line to let iGo ignore it for now or just delete it.
thx i will try at home, hope it will work
igo8?!?!?!
