thanks
Which one have you installed then? Is it your own cooked one?
It sounds like you've set "do not lock" in system/key lock.
Probably that you have modified the "key lock" setting.
Try:
Settings---system---key lock---"lock all buttons except power button"
i got it
thanks for all.. i got it now...

hi,
does anyone know how i can set it so the screen auto locks after a given amount of time or is there a freeware app that can do this please. because i rather have it that having to remember to press the power button to lock everytime, sometimes i might forget.
cheerz,
snoop
Lock the Screen? Power-Button simply switches the Device of, e.g. the screen. In Power Management you can set a Device timeout in Battery Mode and on AC Operation. This is equal to pushing the Power Button
I think i see the problem, or i'll tell my problem with that issue...
When you push the power-button the screen turns off and is locked, but if you receive a sms or so, the screen returns back on and is not locked...
ok ye i think u get my point.
i dont know about screen lock after receiveing sms or call.
but i c the point of samson, pressing the power botton does lock the screen.

look for deviceock or vj devicelock.
There is a today-application called BatteryStatus. With its help you can lock the device automatically when it is shut down. Does the job for me - of course you allways have to unlock the device after turning it on.

If you had bothered typing 'BatteryStatus' into Google you'd have seen it was the first hit. Establishing it is the right program is simply a case of reading the web page. Why are people so goddam lazy these days?
yes ok i get your point. sorry.
right i have installed. lots of nice options and things. but have little problem now. As we knw the device has the function where as the backlight will turn off after a set amount of time. Mines set to 30sec for battery power and 1min for external power.
After 30secs (using battery) it does its job and turns off the backlight. Normally i would press the power button and device turns back on. HOWEVER! since installing batterystatus the device just wont turn back on. I mean its got enough battery, i can tell this because 1) the light at the top flashes 2) Heres the strange thing , the only way i seem to be able to waking the device from backlight is by pluging in the usb cable.
So i thought i would try and un-install the app see if that would help..but nope that didnt help because it still does the same thing.
After installing the app i did a soft rest. I thought it might help, but it didnt. This is the other thing, once i did this, i see the t-mobile splash screen where shows the ROM and other info. And then i just goes blank for a while....and then i see the T-mobile PIN entry keypad splashing by every few secs. I was only able to by pass this after trying and trying to enter pin number on a black screen.
Do you think i should do a hard-rest? Dont really want to do this. Means i have to re-install my little apps and contacts, email settings etc etc.
Can anyone help me with this problem please??
Hi there, i had quite te same problem, after a soft reset the backlight turns on until the bootup screen dissapears, then the screen seems to be blank, but it shows everything, but without the backlight on. You have to point a light onto the screen and you can hardly see wats on it.
Then go to the backlight settings and turn it up.
Then you have to look at every program, thats adjusting the backlight settings and turn of automatic darken screen or so in the program.
That helped for me.

Guys - the only way I can bring my 8525 out of STANDY is with the power button. My "KeyLock" is set to "Lock buttons if device is locked" but its NOT locked yet, just in standby. The only button that can get it to wake up is a quick-push of the Power-Button.
I remember an app being on Black 2.5 that said you could push ANY button to wake it up OR another option of only the Power Button, but I can't find that on Black 3.01. I think it was under the "Personal" menu list.
I'd like to wake it up with the green-phone button or with ANY button, but that doesn't happen. Am I missing something - how are you waking up yours?
Thanks.
Did you try Settings>System>Key Lock?
Select the "don't lock any buttons"

Maybe the button assignments are set to <None>. Check Start>Settings>Buttons
Running Black 3.0, my device can be woken using any button when set to the setting you describe (as per normal behaviour). Sorry, doesn't help much I know, perhaps its a 3.01 thing.
And mine cant. so strange!

Thanks - Yes, I have it set to "lock buttons if device is locked," so I would think that would mean any button could turn it on, if its not locked, but thats NOT the way mine is working. I ALWAYS have to hit the powerbutton to wake it up. I'll keep looking, but I'm sure there was a 2nd small app that had something to do with this, but its just not in 3.01. Thanks again.

Thank you very much.
The Rom you are using could have this problem. If you can try for anyother ROm. that rom is quite old now.
I've just installed Schaps 3.54c on a friend's JasJam. She now has a strange issue where she turns the screen on, taps on the Today screen to unlock the device and then pressing the green phone button doesn't do anything. But if you tap Start then go into Programs or Settings and THEN try the green button, it works fine!
Has anyone experienced this?
i have notice this little bug now and again, i just have to click the ok button then i get all control back to the call button.
Not sure what causes it though.
Its like another proggy is running in the background.
My screen will turn off black light in 10 sec, if i tap anywhere on screen or press any buttons, it will not turn on.
I can only activate it using the power button
.. how can i modify it so that it will become active by any key press?
thanks
settings > system > keylock >
Try "lock buttons if device is locked"
or in settings > system > power > advanced
you can set how quickly the device will turn off.
settings > system > backlight < battery power
for the backlight off time.
You could also pick "Do not lock buttons" in the key lock settings but that means ANY button gets pressed you're backlight is back on and you could be doing ANYTHING...
Unless you have a lock program - like S2U2 - then you might not like the results & be spending BIG $$ on phone calls and browsing you didn't mean to do...
Cheers...
thanks for the replies
one more question, other than the S2U2... are there any programs/software for the hermes that when the black light turns off it can be reactivated if i slide open the phone (or press the power button)

This is a beta program then there is This, which is configed with an XML, tried this one, its good.
There will never be any software that allows actions based on sliding open/closed, unlike with the Kaiser. (something about it not being a software rotation but a hardware one)

I guess the ROM is not 100% stable yet... Let's pary 6.5 will be out soon ! (With TF3D 2.5 or even better with the new sense interface !)
same problem here, if he stays off you can hear de volume butons if you press them so it is only the screen or something.
also when i slide out the keyboard, the screen is rotating realy slow and bit by bit. hope for a soon spl and custom (nrg) rom

Have this too, sometimes. I thought it was due to WAD which sometimes uses way too much CPU.
But the screen not comming off is really annoying! And I don't know why this happens.
I removed SPB Pocket Plus and did not experience this problem again - I think it's just coincidence, but still... You could try!
UPDATE
It seems to happens very very more often if I use the camera apps.
