no mms option anywhere - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I recently ran the official vm6 rom(SWEDISH) upgrade on my tytn, and quickly discovered that i have no mms option anywhere. In the messaging menu i have no *MMS option as i had in vm5.
The sms and data are working perfectly. Does anyone have a clue to what has gone wrong? has perhaps the MMS composer not been installed? in that case - how do i install it?

Have you skipped the EXTROM installation? It ought to be in the EXTROM, if it is official.

Try this:
Go to Msg, make New/MMS. Then go to Menu/Optons/Message Options

hmm

That was only needed in later versions of the mms program.
I just installed the Swedish official and had no problems with the mms.
Start/Meddelandefunktion click on Meny/Alternativ/ Select "MMS", click tab "Servrar", click "Nytt" then input settings from your operator don't forget to to set as "Ange som standard" at the end.
If it doesn't work reinstall and make sure you don't abort the installation of the extrom files which happens after you finnish setting up screen etc.

strange

Under Meny/Alternativ/ i have no MMS option. So i guess that something went wrong during the extrom installation. But i didnt look like somtething went wrong when i ran it.
But there is no way to just run one of the cab files from the extrom? i really dont want to rerun the installation.

You can try to unlock and mount the extrom and try to start the programs from ext rom. I'm guessing there is some file there for the mms.

Not sure, but you can try getting 'Total Commander' (freew), type in "\Extended_ROM" on top of the dir input line to access to the ExtROM. Guess, get, and run the CABs there.

ok

ok, i just tested that and after rerunnig the setup file there there it still didnt work.
But i think i have found the source of the problem. I completely forgot that i had run i smsbackup from spb backup. I think that it is that backup that has corrupted something so the mms dosent show.
It looks like i have to rerun the rom update to make it work. Thanks for all the help guys!!

Cab Operator settings

Hello :
What do i have to do to put this mms and internet configs atached working on wm6 ? They are from wm5,
Thnks
Copy on your device and than execute the cab file...

Cab to PPC From Windows XP
You don't have to copy the cab to PPC to install the program. You can use this small utility to do the process just like you'll do with .exe files installer.
This utility is posted by Ryubai to PXDXA .
How to:
1. run the command xp_install.cmd inside the cab2PPCfromXP.zip archive to install the utility as a context menu command.
2. when you right-click the cab file, you will see "install to ppc" in contextmenu.click it and a dialog with which you are very simillar pops up......then you know what you should do next.
TQ.
cyphol is there any way to make CAB files like this for any operator?

There's always a way but you have to know the registry keys involved but I think there're many already floating around in this forum so you can try search for them.
Eh...for the Slovenian operators there are no CAB files...thx anyway

Hi, i've just upgraded to WM6 (Black Edition v1.1) without any trouble but i can't connect to the internet via internet explorer, i get the message 'cannot connect'. I've download all cabs (extRom and windows) and ran them all. I've downloaded cab2PPCfromXP.zip and ran that on the PC as described, although nothing much happens.
I have noticed after running t-mobiles cabs that instead of '3G' i now get 'E' which seems a step back.
If i Hard reset my device, can some give step by step directions to me having a normal UK T-mobile phone. I mainly use my phone for emails so i really need this side to work.
Cheers

I am currently in the stage of making cab files for all the operators, please PM me your carrier settings, aswell as mms settings, and your carrier name.
I will make a cab for that operator.

HTC has fix for memory card problem

Just happened to find this fix at HTC Europe support site.
Currently it seems to work OK on my TyTN / Black 3.0.1.

Hi, this is already posted here:- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307614 and in the upgrading threads regarding storage card problems.
But never mind, did you have problems with your storage card before using the fix with Black 3?
Regarding the fact that it is for the p3300 (Artemis) it is an official fix and works for both that model and the Tytn.

It is a cab file, follow these instructions that were given with the cab file on the site:-
1/ Copy the file to your device using ActiveSync. To do so:
-> Ensure first that ActiveSync is installed on your PC already. If it is not, please install it using the CD that came with your device.
-> Then connect your device to your PC. You can choose to connect the device to your PC as either a guest or a standard partnership, it does not matter for installing a .cab file.
-> Once the device connects to the PC, press Explore in the ActiveSync menu bar and copy the cab file there.
-> Your file explorer window should show the .cab file
2/) Use File Explorer to find the file and click on it to start the installation. Follow the on-screen instructions.
3/ Switch the phone off and back on.
NOTE:- Should you need to carry out a Hard-Reset on your device then this CAB file will be lost
and you will need to reinstall it on your handset.

TNX, I am aware of the problems, I just want to know what did HTC fix to solve them, was it a new driver? was it a simple REG hack?
IT IS NOT FOR TYTN.!!!!
If you switch the last word with htcp3300 or htc p3600 will show the page again. http://www.europe.htc.com/support/fa...device=" htctytn"
It will show it even if you put "lagoskon" .
Someone just put the word htctytn at the end.
You can't find the page if you begin from tytn support.
So don't bother with this fix...We will have to wait..

I have to disagree. I still have this issue with various WM6 releases, albeit at a much reduced rate than with WM5.0. I believe this is hardware related and the software fix(es) may work for some people, but not all.

keyboard mapping error and Kavana's latest ROM

Okay, I dug through the 160+ pages of his thread (okay maybe the last 20) and I found no mention of the problem I'm having. I apologize if this is a double post but maybe this will help people who are having the same problem quickly find it.
I have a T-mobile Dash I recently updated to Kavana's latest rom, and when I go to type a text message (this is all I've checked so far) Instead of qwerty I get like q.arrty or something of the like. The keyboard mapping is off. Is there a fix for this around?
Self bumping - I found it after looking a little harder. Thanks to Rip Syntaxx for the having it in your sig.
Link: HKBoySiR's Tegic eT9.cab (English Keyboard Mapping)
I also needed this
Thank you for that zip file that should solve the problem with the keyboard. I also have a t-mobile dash and I tried flashing the kavana 6.1 but I had a problem with the keys being backwards but hopefully this fixes it. I would just like to know if anyone can help with the internet settings. I have the t-mobile internet plan but when I flash to kavana it's all erased and tells me to set up an ip or whatever but I do not know how to do any of that stuff and I just want the exact same t=mobile internet settings, can someone help me out?

Wrong Keyboard Mapping 2
Hello
I decided to install Kavana over KickWyatt and installed the Tegic eT9 as recommended in the my previous thread.
Now when I press FN and J, I no longer get @, I get a j. I am supposed to get the English Pound Symbol.
If I press s, I get 4 and no s.
I tried the Et9 Full and that didn't help either. I had a txt file in the installed directory that shows the correct mapping, but I don't know what to do with it.
Please Assist.
Thanks
Adrian

you dont configure. take this file and put it in your \windows directory via activesync...then on the phone, browse to that directory and execute it. when its done, reboot the phone. thats all
I had to go back to RickWyatt as WiFi gave problems with Kavana.
I installed the file you suggested as recommended. I still get an @ over j instead of a Pound Sign. I get a = over L instead of a euro sign.
you need the British layout, not american. lol
Here, take this zip file, unzip it.
take the et9 file and drop it into the windows folder.
reboot
Strange considering I bought my phone in NY.
I tried the UK layout that came with RickWyatt but that didn't work.
I replaced the file, and it still doesn't work.
I went into RickWyatt Excalibue eT9 and tried both US and Uk after upgrading file but no luck.

Need help to solve some issues after flashing ROM
I have some questions / problems / comments and I’m seeking for help. I recently upgraded my HTC S621 WM5 to WM6.1:
1.- I already upgraded the phone OS using file “RUU_Excalibur_WM61_Kavana_080408_WWE.exe” because I was not able to use the ZIP file “RUU_Excalibur_WM61_Kavana_Rickys_v23_Opera.zip” I already know about error 270 on 3% progress saying that the file is corrupted, I read that I need a paid service to do this, but, why I was able to update it with the EXE file and not with the ZIP?
2.- I have a Spanish or Latin-American layout so the Ñ was missing. This is my keyboard: http://www.aramation.com/mobile/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/htcs621.jpg
I used HKBoySiR’s file eT9 Full.CAB and WPERDOMOS mapping, everything works except the Caps Lock (BLOC). When the keyboard was in the English layout I had the option to use capital letters, but not anymore. If I go to Settings/ Regional Settings/ on language I only get US English. In Locale I get Spanish (Mexico). This is a problem because I use passwords that mix upper and lower case letters. I went to an other thread and installed Mikey1022’s file eT9.Excalibur.zip but it did not solve the problem.
3.- The internet browser button now lunches the CeleTask application instead of the browser. I can’t figure out how to correct this, I read hundreds of post, but I don’t get it.
4.- Mexico is not listed in the Connection Setup Wizard. Thanks to raimin211 for his post on configuring TELCEL.
5.- Is there a way to lock the phone after flashing the ROM to avoid dialers as warn or does it locks automatically with the new ROM?
Thanks in advance for your help. Just in case I fix with your help all the issues and I don’t return to post a thank you note, THANK YOU. Robert

You can't install a flash a zip file to the best of my knowledge. Unzip it first, and then you should have the exe to flash.

[HACK] (16/05/2010) Native SMS over IP

This thread is moved to here
Hello people,
I've been working on an SMS over IP application, but I decided to make it native, meaning replacing the WM sms dll with mine. It will work with any provider that supports the following url to send an SMS:
https://www.voipbuster.com/myaccount/sendsms.php?username=%0&password=%1&from=%2&to=%3&text=%4
or
https://www.exetel.com.au/sendsms/api_sms.php?username=%0&password=%1&mobilenumber=%3&message=%4&sender=%2&messagetype=Text
where:
%0 stands for username
%1 stands for password
%2 stands for from number
%3 stands for to number
%4 stands for text
You need to add te following keys to your registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Drizzt\SMSoIP\url:
Type is REG_SZ, value is the complete url with placeholders, see the above examples
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Drizzt\SMSoIP\username:
Type is REG_SZ, value is your username
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Drizzt\SMSoIP\password:
Type is REG_SZ, value is your password
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Drizzt\SMSoIP\from:
Type is REG_SZ, value is your phone number validated by your voip provider in international format, e.g. +9012345689
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Drizzt\SMSoIP\option:
Type is REG_DWORD, value is one of the following:
0 = Use internet only, don't fallback to gsm
1 = If internet sending fails, automatically send it over gsm
2 = If internet sending fails, popup a confirmation box before sending over gsm
3 = Don't use IP, send it over gsm
4 = Ask first what to do
5 = Use IP only for international sms
bit4: set = automatically establish internet connection if not already available
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Drizzt\SMSoIP\prefix:
Type is REG_SZ, value is your country code (e.g. 90 for Turkey, 32 for Belgium, 49 for Germany, ...)
Thanks to oruam57 for developing the configurator so that you don't need to edit the registry manually. He also compiled everything into the attached cab installer.
WARNING. This cab installer may cripple your phone. READ BELOW! USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
This cab installer overwrites \Windows\sms.dll. Original SMS functionality is supposed to be offered by the new file \Windows\sms_orig.dll that is a copy of sms.dll from a WM6.1 phone.
If you happen to have problems:
- extract sms.dll from the image of the ROM of your phone (search in the forum about how to do it);
- rename it to sms_orig.dll;
- install the cab and DO NOT soft reset;
- overwrite \Windows\sms_orig.dll with the sms_orig.dll from your ROM;
- soft reset.
CHANGELOG V1.7
- New option = 5, use IP only for international sms
- Fixed: Multiline bug
- Fixed: MessageBox going to background
- Changed url format, added placeholders
CHANGELOG V1.6
Fixed: Bug when sending to a foreign country
CHANGELOG V1.5
Establish data connection automatically if wifi connection is not available
Tested and works on a Touch Pro also.

I suppose I can. I'll report as soon as possible.
Something very strange happened!
I used total commander to overwrite the sms.dll in ROM with your sms.dll, then I soft reset and all started right, including manila.
I was surprised so I listed the windows directory using total commander and there were a sms.dll (lower case) and a SMS.DLL (upper case)! From dates and attributes it seems that sms.dll is the original ROM file and SMS.DLL is your file.
It seems that the original sms.dll is in use (sms are sent and received as usual) but the problem is that total commander now refuse to delete, rename or overwrite both sms.dll and SMS.DLL Never saw something like that!
For the moment I'm stuck, I do not know how solve this situation and can not do more tests on your hack

you can use sktools to recover the rom files (replaced rom files).

Ok, crisis solved (sktools did not see the "double" file but I found a procedure with total commander), back to work.
After overwriting sms.dll with your sms.dll and renaming the dump of my original sms.dll to sms_orig.dll I soft resetted.
As expected manila refused to load. Then I run tmail.exe and sent a test sms. Unfortunately nothing happened. I also consulted my voipbuster log and no sms activity was present.

strange, did you double check the registry values? And what if you disable manila, soft-reset, and send an sms using tmail.exe? I see people writig about htc sms bug, there is even a hotfix for it, perhaps related to your problem.

Rececked everything 2 times and disabled manila too but it does not work. With your sms.dll when I press send nothing happens and the sms is not sent on IP and on GSM either. It seems there is definitely some incompatibility with my phone. What a pity

sorry about that. It used to work with my Xperia X1, and it works with my HD2 also. I really don't know why it doesn't work for you.
