[BLACK SATIN]: E-Mail Notifications - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Hi,
When I receive a new E-Mail via Active Sync, I can hear the message sound but display doesn't turn on and no notification is showed.
How I can solve it?
Regards,
Taguapire

check your settings its probably set not to display on the today screen pretty easy

does anyone know how to do this for when you send a text message. you hear a sound but no display notification. thanks

If you're referring to the setting for new emails at Start > Settings > Sounds and Notifications > Notifications, there is nothing there that would affect what I believe the OP is referring to.
I take that back. You can check a box to have a message shown on the display, but not to turn on the display.
I'm running Black Satin, as well, and when I receive an email, I get the sound notification, the status LED notification, and the message on the display, but it will not wake the device up out of standby and turn on the display. I'm not complaining, however, because this is the behavior I desire.
To contrast this, the receipt of a text message will do all of the above, and also wake up the phone and turn on the display. This often results in buttons pushed and programs launched as I take the phone out of my pocket.
I have seen nowhere to control that aspect of notifications.

Not waking up for E-mail

Just notice that my screen isn't turning on when a new e-mail comes in, like it does with new text messages.
I get the sound, but the screen/phone doesn't actually wake up from sleep.
Anyone else experience this? or know a fix?
I have a Tilt2 with stock rom. I added BsB Tweaks...which has a feature for "wake up phone on/off when receiving SMS" it IS turned ON.
...I didn't notice this earlier...so I can't really recall if this was already an issue or is due to installing BsB Tweaks...

Try this setting (I don't have my phone right now, so it might be a little different):
Start > Settings > Sounds & Notifications > New E-Mail or New Message (in the drop-down) > [check the box] Display on Screen.
Good luck.

Yeah I have this on for sure.
When the phone is on with the screen on the Display appears on screen. However if I hit the power button (making the screen black), when I get a new e-mail the screen doesn't light up/turn on...

[Q] No vibration alert for SMS

Hi,
Strange problem with my note 2.
My phone doesn't vibrate when receiving a text message...
I can't see any settings to change when the phone should vibrate or not when on silent.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Andy
weird innit....
in the messaging app, go to settings and scroll down, under "notification settings" you can enable vibrate
Seems to be a bug
I have the same issue, but it is only an issue when the screen is off. If the screen is on, the vibrate feature works as the settings I have indicate it should. It appears to be a bug.
Searched high and low and there isn't a fix that I could find, so I just used Tasker (app) to set the phone to vibrate whenever a text message is received. Does the trick, now it vibrates on SMS receipt whether the screen is on or off.

I have the same issue on my T-Mobile Note 2 running a ported international ROM. It's driving me insane! :crying:
Thanks for the idea with using Tasker. I'm going to give that a try until I find an updated ROM release.

Notifications and N doze overly agressive will not alert device

On Android N I have noticed the following behavior with notifications on the new N doze, and wanted to share my findings in case others experience issues with the lack of notifications that were not present on 6.0.1 and I had not make zero adjustments for notifications as well or optimization as its called for each app.
At 1:07 AM i received at text and email alert from my bank for a deposit ( I was asleep when this happened ). I woke up at 5:15 AM to find no notification light blinking what so ever for text or email. Picked up the phone and low and behold a G-mail message and a text ( Textra ) was sitting in the notification bar. I set the phone back down and did not and have not touched it as writing.
At 6:11 AM I received an email to my G-mail account, I went and looked at (did not touch) my phone and no notification light, nor did I hear it alert; this is only about an hour or less after setting it down.
I used my G-mail account to send a text message to my device and heard the alert and the notification light was blinking(did not touch).
So far I notice that G-mail will not alert( sound or LED ) after about an hour ( could be less ). I just sent another email to my G-mail @ 6:29 am and no audible alert.
Text messages appear to alert both audibly and visually after this time period, but after some time the visual indicator goes out as noted initially above. ( i was not able to test sending a text to the phone after the 5+ hour period when was not touched to see if it would alert; that currently remains untested.
Just called the phone at 6:41 am and it alerted properly, AND after I hung up the other phone heard heard the generic notification sound, and noticed the notification light is blinking a different color very slowly ( blue is for text messages; white for everything else ).
I picked up the phone and seen all my messages properly displayed in status bar and one additional one about 50 minutes ago , which would have put it in at less than an hour for Instagram sitting in the notification bar.
It appears that this is either a bug or the doze is overly aggressive, or both.
It might be important for people to get notifications, and to completely silence them could cause some people to not receive critical alerts.
I will most likely go back to 6.0.1 shortly as I simply do not like to be NOT notified in less than an hour of inactivity of use on my device.

I am aware of this feature.
I do not really want to go in and do this for every single application when I never had to in the past, that is just silly. I had zero issues with notifications on 6.0.1 as I have stated.
Besides I am sure some alerts are handled by the OS, so then what? DE-optimize all the apps ? NOT! G-mail worked just fine in the past , I never mentioned junk mail in the OP.
I have noticed that notifications take a long time after I did the upgrade. Now I get facebook notifications 20 mins or more late and I picked up my phone this morning and got lots of them.
---------- Post added at 09:42 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:17 AM ----------
I wiped the cache in recovery and it seems ok now but will have to leave the phone for a while to see if it continues.

I think they borked up the doze feature to no notify users after you set the phone down on battery. Its a pretty big deal for your notifications to go silent just like that.
Poor testing Google
Doze seems to suppress emergency alerts as well.
It alerted on my second device, but never on on 5x with N
Looks like I will be ultimately returning to 6.0.1 until Google can get a clue about alerts

Settings > Sounds > Other sounds > Emergency tone
Set to something other than silent which is the default.

Emergency tone is for an emergency call is placed. it was disable on the device that received the emergency cell broadcast, so that is not it.

Notifications not showing up

Hi there
Sometimes when I receive an email the notification will not show up on the phone, that is no sound and no led notification.
However as soon as I press the power button or unlock the screen the notification will pop up.
It is almost as if the device goes to sleep state when screen is turned off.
The emails that I miss at times due to this problem are time sensitive and really important for my work.
Such delays are at times resulting in direct monetary loss.
This was never an issue on my Galaxy Note 3 from which I have upgraded.
Can anyone of you guide and assist me as to which settings need to be changed to get it to work properly.
Many thanks for your time.
I have a simmilar issue here. Some notifications show up normally, like mail and facebook, but other apps only show notifications if i have they are opened.
It's like the system is forcing close those apps.

Still haven't found any solution.
Things I have tried :
1. Going to Power Master > Battery Mode > Balance
Thinking that in other modes it would kill background apps to save power.
2. Went to Power Master > Autostart Manager > Added apps I need notifications to start on system startup.
Apart from the mentioned problem, I see another one.
I opened What's app notification setting and turned Group Notifications off and Message notifications are set to show silently and minimize.
However the app itself changes the setting and forces messages on screen by itself over riding my changes. Have been happening since a long time now no matter how many times I change the settings.
Update if you can find any resolution.

Huawei Watch GT Question

I'm considering purchasing this watch. When a notification arrives does the watch face light up immediately to show the notification or does a button need to be pressed to view the notification?
Hi, mate. Yes is light up and vibrate except when is in do not disturb mode.

Thanks. So just to confirm.....if I receive a text, it lights up and shows the text that I just received so that I can immediately read it?
Also, can the screen timeout be changed? I realise that there is a mode where it can be kept on for 5 minutes, but can the normal timeout time be changed?
Yes, you cand read text message, email, whatsapp etc, anything what is show in notification panel. Screen timeout can be changed 5 min to 20 min and if you need its a option for allways standby screen.
I just got this watch and it is pretty inconsistent. For a text it shows the whole text, in other apps only partial text (I'm guessing 80 to 100 characters). For an email, all you get is sender and subject. So to me the notifications are simply not worth the cost. I want to read the content of the email to determine if it's worth me taking out my phone. It's a real shame because it is a beautiful watch but so far it's a pretty big meh from me (vs the Pebble).

It’s not the shame of the watch. You should have studied what it can do before deciding to buy it. Watch GT is more like a sportwatch than a smartwatch. Therefore, you cannot expect smartwatch features from it.
I did a lot of research but finding someone who actually shows the full breadth of notifications is nearly impossible. In watching videos, people showed that it received email notifications from Gmail but never showed or stated that it's only sender and subject. So I did my research but without being able to test myself I would not have known. This is why I replied here.
Also it's still a shame because just giving me two lines of the email would make this watch killer!! It's still great though.

The watch vibrates when you receive a notifications but does not automatically turn the screen on. If you want to see the notification, after the vibration you have to raise your wrist to turn on the screen or push the up button.
Hello everyone. Is it possible to force heart rate detection while swimming on the GT? I tried to set generic exercise while swimming and the heart rate is recorded.
