Ok i will put it to admin and the other mods - was thinking the same thing the other day.

I'll have to second this again. The Cavalier could really use it's own Thread.

We need Cavalier forum please.

Please create the HTC Cavalier/Dopod C730/HTC S630 forum.
Thanks!

OK, I repost the request to other mods.

Support to have a Cavalier forum

Strange, very strange!!!
HTC Cavalier for the moment is the best WM Smartphone money can buy and still there is no separate forum for this device. Even HTC Oxygen (technicly the worst HTC Smartphone) has it's separate forum.
Strange, very strange!!!
Cheers,

Yes why!!!
Apart from the iME problem, it is fast, new tech for the scroll and light sensor..why it is ignored?

...is it really selling well enough to have it's own area? Other than when it was released, you really don't hear that much about it.

Right... There was a lot of info just prior to it's release, and then some reviews right after -- but it doesn't seem to have been picked up by a lot of carriers (at least here in the states). Have many of them sold?
Maybe they should create a forum for 'Other' smartphones that never really took off, and you could talk about it there?

I know one thing that Cavalier is selling better than Oxygen, StarTrek, Monet and Breeze and finally it has better techical specs than any other smartphone on the market. Why carriers aren't picking it up, I really don't know and don't care as I don't buy phones with contract.
So your idea of "other" forum is good for above named phones but not for Cavalier.
There is another thing, HTC still did not anounce Cavalier for the rest of the world (except Asia), maybe this is why carriers aren't picking it up. If you want to get the device simply order it without a contract (for now). Even if this device goes on sale only on Asian Continet that does not meen that other people wont get it and that "it will not take off".
Cheers

Sounds like you're happy with it, must be a nice device.

I just got a Cavalier (Softbank X02HT) - Nice device - It would be nice to have a forum for it to share information about all the ins and outs.

Yes, a forum would be nice!
Thanks.

Yeah, I have been part of those 40+ pages on HoFo but that really just talks about the phone. I would like to know some new hacks and such.

My thoughts exactly. That is a user forum, not a hacker forum. I have several hacks I would like to post in that forum. For example:
After successfully unlocking the Application / security locks, I have succeeded making cleartype Japanese fonts from Meiryo (MeiryoKe), reducing size of fonts for reading and composing messages, and size of fonts for pop up menus (but not buttons).
I also succeeded to divert have incoming SMS messages get delivered to Pocket Outlook instead of the Softbank Mail application, but still have MMS (S! Mail) functionality handled by that application. (It seems that I can send outgoing SMS by either application)
I also figured out how to remap buttons and found out how to disable the Softbank Mail button on the Joggr (which was pretty annoying because I would accidentally hit it all the time, so I had to disable the entire Joggr).
I'm looking for information about how to enable Internet Connection Sharing - I haven't been able to get this working yet.

There's no forum, so I'll post here . . .
khammo01: have you posted your overall experience with X02HT anywhere yet? I'm using X01HT now -- WM6 in eigo. I'm guessing the X02HT came from Softbank already in English, right? If I switch over to the X02HT, I assume that the level of hacking I will have to do is much less than what I went through to get my X01HT working. The hacks you are mentioning are fairly minor tweaks, so am I correct in my assumption?
Thanks!

at&t customers support group

I figure that there are a lot of Cingular/at&t service users on here so I figured we should have a thread where we can share at&t specific knowledge and questions.
This will hopefully help to expand knowledge and help to educate those new to the 8525 as well as the veteran flashers.
and heck while we are at it maybe form a at&t employee ring...??
This thread is annoying, cause judging from your other posts, its pretty fair to say that you won't be doing any of the support.
It can't be any worse than on the real AT&T forums. If you ask a question there the douche bag moderators will just close it.

i am not starting this saying that i am offering all the support. i started this as a place for at&t/cingular users to share and hopefully have some of the veteran cooks and programs stop in and share.
i will try to help as best i can and try to post links to a lot of a at&t fixes that are out there in the forum so that we can get as much of them as we can in one place.
i just know that as some have stated the cingular support forums are worthless for the most part.
if the mods feel this is a waste of space they can close it, its not a really big deal.
this was just an idea, my $0.02
Shogun, are you sure you getting banned from AT&T forums wasnt a direct result of the nude photos you posted of yourself?

This might be better off as a plea for a Cingular-specific forum. Do you think the volume of Cingular-specific issues warrants the fragmentation another forum would bring?
People here actually visit the Cingular/AT&T support forums? There is noooo way I could put up with that place myself, I have to admit that amused me that you are banned, Mark.
Shiego, I would have PM'd you this to avoid disrupting the thread anymore, but I wanted to apologize here, Im sorry, I see you are atleast putting forward an effort to make this useful, which I haven't seen a whole lot of before, with these type of threads.
Back when I still used my AT&T Wireless OGO I visited the AT&T Wireless support forums. Notice the distinction though, it used to be that, then the Cingular support forums, and now its the at&t/at&t mobility forums. Whatever I never got any good info from there. I use this forum here and Howardforums thats about the only place I get good info. I actually do have a question and I am sure I am in the minority here, when using the Mobile IM app I can no longer hit the enter key to send, in WM5 I just hit the enter key and it sent a message. I am sure I am the only person that uses that app though. Well good luck with the support forum, I will offer any info I have, I used to work for Cingy for 2 years
I have visited the Cingular/AT&T forums, and I also noticed that the moderators closed many threads, so I rarely drop into that site anymore. I actually found a reference to XDA there and that is how I found this forum the same week I bought my Hermes.
Hope you fellow ATTers will be kind and tolerate a Trinity owner crashing this thread too! This thread seems like a very good idea to me.
Dunno how long this has been the case, but today I discovered that the username/password [email protected] / CINGULAR1 is no longer needed... at least not in Los Angeles. All that I need enter now is the wap.cingular APN. Can leave the other fields empty. BTW according to the info in their DevCentral pages the APNs are gonna be renamed wap.att etc. That doesn't work for me yet tho.
This is probably old news, but all the new personal PDA Connect/PDA Max accounts are now provisioned for the wap APN only. You now have to upgrade to a tethered or laptop plan to get isp APN access. I am guessing that business customers on plans like PDA Enterprise might get the isp APN, but I haven't checked. I would also assume if you have an older plan with isp access that won't change so long as you keep the same data plan.
I've been having a few probs with Direct Push and maintaining a solid data connection the last couple of weeks. I have hard reset and upgraded my Radio ROM twice (though it could still be ahradware prob I guess and also made sure my Push settings are shorter than the published ATT firewall timeouts. Any reason why Direct Push shouldn't work through the NAT translation on the wap APN? Seems to have always been OK before (also worked fine on T-Mo).
More importantly, I am also finding that if I lose signal alltogether (e.g. take an elevator to a basement floor then come back up) my phone reconnects for voice OK but refuses to reconnect for data (message says the data connection was refused). I have to soft reset or at least go in and out of flight mode.
Any thoughts? TIA

Well just to clear the air on that... i spoke out against their poor moderation, as we as a few other users, which they didnt like... i had posted screen shots of wm6 running on my phone, which they didnt like... then i posted a link to my forum for PTT users to help people find other people with PTT (was 1 post), then they said i was spamming the board and banned me.. so FK them.. but if anyone wants to see what true n00bs are like they need to spend some time there, you will feel much better about this place.........
I'm inclined to move this thread somewhere for better exposure but am not sure.
@shigeo: is it your intention to have this be a WM6 Hermes AT&T support thread? If not, let me know your intentions and I'll move it to a more appropriate forum.
I think it should be moved directly to the main HERMES forum and be made a sticky.

Does anyone know the status of getting a Cavalier forum up and running? I've had my Cavalier for a few months know (Dopod C730) and I'm finding the forum info about it is getting spread all over the place since it doesn't have a home anywhere.
I'm especially interested in any solutions to the text input problem with Windows Live Search since that's a show-stopper for me.
PLEASE MAKE A CAVALIER FORUM. (Sorry to raise my voice like that. )
to echo everyone's posts...a Cavalier section would be greatly appreciated/needed....please mods make it happen.......
Any update on this? Us Dopod C730 owners would love not wading through Excalibur posts.

POLL: Start new forums for other devices: O2, Samsung, Gigabyte

Hi friends! I just want to start a poll for voting if we want to have a forum for other non-HTC devices, like the following list:
-O2 (like stealth, atom pure, etc)
-Toshiba
-Samsung
-Gigabyte
In the initial time I think that a separate forum for each manufacturer would be ok...
Basically we are here to share knowledge and expertise about using these great devices, and I think that will be great to add this new forums because while the community is becoming more popular, more users are here to research how to enhance their productivity...
Thanks in advance!
Yeah, I agreed to that. Voted already.
i want a forum for Eten x800 VGA with tri-band 3G!
y wouldnt u! Eten x800 is so much better then tytn/hymes.
pros and cons
well if we open up to more manufactures, this would mean more traffic, more knowledge on general forums and more people to donate to this great cause but these are busy forums anyway and the mods and admin have lives to lead. the extra burden is on them so either they appoint more admins and mods or leave it as it is. but as the name is xda developeras maybe they should allow other xda phones from o2.....

what about a nike forum ... i got one. it is on sale at least in uk and germany.
When you check the new posts, you see only the Kaiser,Elf and Tytn under discussion.I own a gene, but I think the factors standing in the way of its forum are:
1. Nobody can come up with a WM6 upgrade. No point in discussing something that doesnt have any issues/problems. What are we gonna do at that forum, brag about a stable handset?Really, now.
2. Not enough Gene owners speaking out.No advanced users interested in tinkering with it.The ROM Kitchens arent very helpful to the RUU either.
3. Refer to point no.1

Of course I hope you get your own boards. But you'll have to create your own exciting action, I'm affraid. Why not start the action in here, in the general discussion area? Publish an exciting ROM, a kitchen and some interresting questions about your device right here and soon enough the admins will transfer them to your own brand new area. At least that's what I'd expect. I'm not an admin or a moderator.
Personally, I think the current list needs to be categorised into generations because despite having a screen resolution of 1280x1024, it remains an absolute pain in the arse to scroll through everything to find the forum you want to go to... perhaps firstly categorising the phones into their various "generations" with no pictures just names (although a horizontal line of phone images across the top similar to the wiki would be good since that wouldn't bloat things too badly) but overall, the idea of just dumping them into Generation categories would save on a hell of a lot of scrolling in any case, and images at the top can enable the casual idiots to find the correct phone.
That's my thinking anyway.

HTC Touch Pro2 - New User Questions

Hello,
Well i have finally gone and joined the elite ranks of owning a phone with the Windows Mobile OS.
Usually been a blackberry user who went to the HTC Magic and has just given up on the Google Android OS (is that a dirty word around here?).
So i purchased the HTC Touch Pro2 based on a recomendation from a very jealous workmate. Am still waiting for delivery but have a few queries he thought i should ask on here to get a good varied level of responses.
1. HTC Touch Pro2 - Good phone?
2. Vodafone ROM - I believe the ROM vodafone use (UK) screws the phone up a bit. So those who use Vodafone and still have their ROM installed... what do you think of it?
3. ROM - Any recomendations on the best ROM? I understand their are many out there and all do various things but just trying to get a view of what people prefer.
4. SPB Shell - a must have?
Thats really it i guess... just trying to get a feel of the OS and issues before i start tinkering.
Thanks!
Welcome to forums
1. Yes!! one of the best actually!
2. Before flashing, be shure to learn how and to identify if your Rhodium is CDMA or GSM
3. There is no such thing as the best ROM, what is best for me could not be for you. Try the more you can till you get your best.
Check ROM section and see the threads with more reads/posts this way you´ll have an idea what members prefer more
4. I do not like spb, I´m quite happy with Manila/Sense 2.1, no need to install another external heavy app
Read, Search, Respect and Enjoy!
HI all ..i just ordered tp2 from ebay since its yet not launched here in india.actually there was one sprint phone and one unlocked ohone listed there ..sicne i wanted 3.5 mm jack and the fact is i quite did not like the silver key board on the unlocked phone, i opted for sprint...
my question is how do i upgrade it to win mo 6.5..the seller says
"If you want I can send you the 6.5win mob file along with the stock (original ROM) and the procedure to upgrade and if not happy then downgrade to original rom."
but i read on web that sprint has not yet relaesed 6.5 rom pls advise.
also how is the video and audioi playback of the device since i prefered it over samsung omnia i 8000 which has a oled screen..actually i was tired of holding devices to my nose to watch videos and wanted a device which i can put on table and watch vdo music etc..
Your sprint Rhodium is CDMA, so this is the section where you can find a 6.5 ROM:

Welcome Paul Good to see somebody thinking ahead about things like this!
1) I think a lot of people here will agree that the TP2 is the pinnacle of a "fully-capable" smartphone...it's definitely the best of the QWERTY-enabled hardware available today, and will probably remain so until/unless they eventually release a HD2 or equivalent with a hardware keyboard (...heaven willing!)
2) I've never used the Vodaphone ROM, but most carrier-specific ROMs are lacking in some way, and a large number of the ROM's available here will work regardless of which carrier you have...as long as you use one for the correct NETWORK type (which I believe is CDMA for Voda). Often the aftermarket ("cooked") ROMs developed here are based on carrier-issued ROM, then "improved" in any number of ways.
3) As orb3000 said above, there's no real way to subjectively recommend a "best" ROM...each has it's own pros and cons that have to be weighed against the needs/preferences of the user. The best place to start on that is to read THIS and THIS thread on flashing ROMs, then read over the threads related to each ROM that's been cooked/released here. Again, just make sure you're looking at ones that are for CDMA networks.
4) SBP Shell is definitely a great program, and can do a lot for the UI...but like most here I happen to believe that you can get more bang for your buck with the custom ROMs available here. Again, it's best to just try some out (including running a trial of SPB), and see what fits you best
THIS thread will help clear up the differences between windows mobile versions 6.5 and 6.5.3, which you'll see a lot of here.
So, you've got a lot of reading to do between now and when your new TP2 arrives! Once you get through all that, the next thing to learn is how to install/apply the fixes and tweaks available on XDA...usually that's done through ".cab files" (when you're lucky), sometimes through executable files, and sometimes through good old-fashioned registry edits by hand. I get the feeling you'll be learning about all that stuff quickly enough
2 last pieces of advice...first, make friends with the search function here in the forums...its often more efficient than just posting a question, and will save you from the backlash that can happen when someone asks a question with answers that are readily available around here. Lastly, even though the ROMs and other tweaks here are produced out of a labor of love, most any and all developers will accept donations (however small) to help offset personal expenses related to the time and effort they put into the wonderful gifts they drop on us regularly here. Donations are always voluntary, but once you find a ROM or other bits that work well for you, it's always good form to express your appreciation via some kind of token like that.
Good luck! Your friend has no idea what jealousy is about until he sees the look on your face when you start playing with your new toy!!

Your sprint Rhodium is CDMA, so this is the section where you can find a 6.5 ROM:

Never try to install a GSM ROM

If you bought a Sprint-branded phone, then it's CDMA, and there's no changing that. You can't "unlock" a phone to switch between GSM and CDMA...so if your network is GSM, this phone is no good to you as a...phone

Actually, that's not true. See, the funny thing about the Rhodium is that there are no exclusively CDMA versions. Instead, there are the RHOD400 and RHOD500 models, which are GSM/CDMA hybrids. People refer to them as CDMA devices because of the fact they operate on CDMA networks by default, but they have full GSM capability, and can use regular GSM SIM cards.
dheerpat: The device you have bought works on GSM, but it will be referred to as a CDMA device on this forum, and you should use CDMA ROMs on it, despite the fact it also works on GSM. You should be able to use a Vodaphone SIM with it as long as you put the device in GSM mode, and if the SIM doesn't work, you can unlock the device so it will work.
phew!!!!! missed a beat there..paid 500 bucks for it afterall

So there ARE dual-network Rhodiums! I've had this argument before, and was always told that it just wasn't true. Well I'm glad to know that I was right....back then anyway

Hi, thanks for the response - and thanks to everyone else who has responded (aprt from those who hijacked my post lol).
I wont be using CDMA as i believe this is mainly for the US not the UK? So my geeky mate tells me, we only use GSM in England? Is he wrong and we don in fact use CDMA?
He also looked very shocked when i repeated that a lot of people dont go for the SPB Shell... he said its awesome and im stupid if i dont get it... yeah well i got a HTC Touch Pro2 and you dont pal... lol
I will look at the ROM's (already started) and will 'play' with a few that look interesting. I presume the SPB shell will work with any ROM and not wipe out any functionality? If i go for the SPB Shell...
Quite comfortable with the use of .cab files.... may not be so sure with registry tweaks but ill learn...

Yeah, SPB Shell used to be the best option for customizing the interface on winmo devices, but that was before HTC introduced, and have since refined, the TouchFLO3D interface. There's also a ton more user-generated tweaks and such that have sprung up since then (as you clearly see now).
I don't know about the GSM vs CDMA carriers in the UK or Europe, I'd always understood that GSM was dominant, but there were CDMA carriers there too...but I really have no idea for sure.
Well finally got my phone... its GSM....
Got the SPB shell - liking it.
Only issue i have is not being able to send MMS but trying to sort out.
So far so good - will play more once more confident - not bricking my phone for anyone lol
