[Ringtones] is there a way... - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

...To construct a ringtone for your mobile, that doesn't have the delay in-between repeats?
Or is there a registry tweak to minimize the delay?
Not important, just that I finally edited a perfectly loopable track with audacity, but can't get sounds and notifications to loop it without the pause...

You can remove the delay:
Open the registry editor:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0
'Values' -> modify 'Script' by removing the w3 (example: 'av0pw3r' becomes 'av0pr')

Already done. the w3 allows the ringtone to start immediately when recieving a call, but does not remove the delay between repeats.

JOGGR Config Utility

Silence Ringer
Hmmm, anyone know how to silence the ringer when a call comes in and you just want to "shut the phone up" without declining the call? With my Wizard you can just hit the volume slider, and it'll make the ringer go off.
Thanks for your help in advance.
i don't have mine yet, but did you try the joggr when the call comes in?
Yep tried that.. Even put the JOGGR in volume only mode, and that didn't shut it up either... I know on a lot of other phones you tap the power button to shut it up, but no button's will do it.
I'll keep trying..
Argh, I've still not had any luck in finding a way to shut it up when a call comes in.. *sigh*
I don't think there is a feature to do what you want. Ignore or the end button send it directly to vm as you no doubt have figured out already.
I can touch the volume strip on the dash and it mutes the phone call.
I know, not very helpful, but thought i'd let you know.

Look in the registry around:
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\JogBar\Settings\
There's a key there called EnableRingVolumeMute
If there isn't, try creating it and setting it to 1. Mine seems to mute the call fine with that setting.
Ringer silencing on Dash
Hitting the "reduce volume" slider on my dash silences the ringer -- no registry hacks needed. Don't know if this works on HTC unit...
El Perfecto!!!!!!! The registry hack worked on the S620.. Apparently it comes with EnableRingVolumeMute set to 0.
Muchas thanks!
This needs to go in a FAQ.
Change JOGGR Outlook key to something else?
Has anyone figured out how to change the JOGGR's launch outlook button (bottom button) to launch something else, say, FlexMail? Even though I have FlexMail set as the default mail program, it still launches Outlook...any ideas?
I hate Outlook email (it does not work well with IMAP, like, it won't delete things unless you resync it manually. Painful!)

Never mind...
Got this from www.smartphonethoughts.com just now:
Well that sure didn't take long. Just 1 day after the Dash hit the streets, akil, staulkor, and some others over at Howard Forums has found a way to change the functionality of the volume jogger on the Dash to include scrolling and launching programs. You'll need to modify the registry to get this to work. So, make sure you back things up before making any changes. Here are the changes you need to make to get this working.
To Enable Scrolling:
• HKCU\ControlPanel\JogBar\Settings\SwitchToAudioFunc = 0
Tap on Bottom Key Launches IE Mobile:
• HKCU\ControlPanel\JogBar\Settings\BottomKeyApplicationName = \Windows\iexplore.exe
Tap on Top Key Performs Back
• HKCU\ControlPanel\JobBar\Settings\TopKeyApplicationName = BACK
You can replace any these with your favourite applications. Other common applications would be START (to Launch the Start menu), \Windows\tmail.exe to launch Outlook Mobile, or http://www.SmartphoneThoughts.com to launch IE Mobile with your favourite website Wink Let us know how you make out!
Here is a utility I wrote that will let you change almost all of the JOGGR settings on the phone. It will also let you change the apps that launch when you press the Camera key and the T-Zones key. The app shortcuts must be in the shortcut file format because I didn't know enough about the Windows CE LNK format to simply let you pick an EXE.
I am going to add support to let you change the apps that launch from the JOGGR bar, but wanted to get this version out now so you don't have to dig through the registry to get scrolling working.
It requires the .NET CF 2.0 or higher.
Sweet, good job! Will give it a shot.
This would be a good base for a simple DASH/S620 tweak util.. 'Cause there's a couple good tweaks out there as well.
Is there a way to do this on the Dash without having the touch strip/jogger enabled. So basically all I want it to do is silince the ringer.
which compact framework .net am I to install? I tried installing the ARM versions but they refused to install on the Dash.

The version for the ARMV4I is the correct one. Try the installer at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0c1b0a88-59e2-4eba-a70e-4cd851c5fcc4&DisplayLang=en. That link will take you to the .NET CF 2 SP1 MSI file.
Works like a charm. Very nice job
I have .NET CF 2.0 spk1 with a T-Mobile DASH.
But still does not work

What doesn't it do? Does it even run?
Basically when I run it it gives an Error.
An unexpected error has occurred in the DashConfig.exe
Select Quit and then restart this program or select Details for more information.
When I hit details:
UnauthorizedAccessException
at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError()
blah blah blah.. basically a whole lot of errors
I would love for this to work..

Completely silence my Excalibur? (turn off call initiation beep)

Hi,
I'm trying to change my "Silent" profile to be completely silent. Turning off all ringers / changing to vibrate works except for the call initiation sound (the beep you hear when dialing a contact). How can I turn this off? Thanks in advance!
Specs: Flashed Dash to Excalibur / WM5
The 'beep' file is windows/callstart.wav if you would like to get rid of it. But I've never really cared to do anything about it.
*edit* won't let me delete it. probably need to replace it with a wilent second or so
*edit again* yep, you can replace it. if you did the silent startup/shutdown edit than just copy T-Mobile start up and rename it to Callstart
you can also use a registry editor to change this. look throught the other threads concerning that topic for more information.

^^^
where is this file located and how do i edit it to rid my self of the annoying. i rather not toy with the registry.

then use a program like total commander to replace it with a silent 'track' like the one used in silent startup/shutdown
Make this change to your registry:
Shut Off the Beep that Occurs When You Initiate a Call
Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\InCall2
Change String/Value InitVol to 0
possible error

This is incorrect, at least on my phone (WM6).
Here's what I had to do to mine:
Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\CallStart
Change String/Value InitVol to 0
i noticed, that my windows applications are silent with the silent profile. but some applications do sounds anyway.
can i avoid that?
need default sound for in call2
Can someone telll me how to get the default sound back for incall2? I deleted it when I was trying to get rid of the sound made when a call is initiated using the incorrect instructions previously posted. The one below works for me but I still need the other sound back. I believe it is related to the busy signal.

Thanks for that, I hate that beep and the setting for WM5 didn't work.
DELETE. Wrong spot. Thanks!
Hey everyone, sorry to dig this up, but I tried this registry edit shown above, and every time I turn my phone off, and back on, it comes back. Any way to permanently get this registry edit to stick? Thanks a ton! HATE THE BEEP! I have WM6... Thanks!

i don't know about wm6 but wm6.1 usually you can go to start/setting/sounds/ and scroll around to what sounds you don't want and turn them off.
also use the search forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=480671 i came up with this and there's two or three posts about this. same kind of questions just three different posts.
I'm referring to the call initiation beep. It's a registry deal. Not a keypad thing. I dont care about numbers beeping, but every time you call someone, it beeps, regardless of what the volume or profile is set to. Please read the previous posts in this thread to understand a bit better.
Then change it....
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\CallStart
Change Value InitVol to 0
Right, Like I said, I've done that. It's the fact that when I have to soft reset my phone, IE turn it off for something like a meeting, and then I turn it back on, the beep comes back. Is this something I have to do every time I turn the phone off? Like I said in my original post, I've made that registry edit. But I want it to be permanent.

Phone Pad Vibrate

Edited an old cab to remove the version limits. It now works on Wm6.
Install and then dial a number from the standard phone dial pad to test! You should feel a short vibrate when you tap a number button letting you know that it's been tapped.
Add it to your CAB file collection.
Cheerio
Howard
What exactly does this do, with Phone Pad? Sounds interesting
It vibrates shortly each time, you press number in dial pad... or I guess, coz it did not work on my TyTN
but mayby is problem with some SPB products, because I have lot of them installed in my TyTN... e.g. phone suite, which can manipulate automatically with sound, vibration and light according to profile settings...
YUP! When you go to the dial screen and tap a number a small vibrate lets you know that a button has been pressed.
I'm also using bunches of SPB programs, but I still get the Vibrate from the standard dial screen.

It works on my Hermes but you have to long-press the key. Press for at least a half second to get the vibrate motor spinning.
Also, be sure to set either "short" or "long" tones in the phone options. It won't do anything if set to "none."
Hey thanks for converting to WM6 I had been missing it for awhile now!
Any chance this will work in WM5? Please and thanks.
Yeah this is soooooooooooo useful tip man, thanks a lot !!^^
Uninstall Issues...
I liked the idea, just didn't like the fact that you have to push the button for so long to get hte vibrate to react, just a fraction longer and it turns into a speed dial. So let's talk about the uninstall....
I unstalled the app, everything went normal. Now I have no keypadd tones at all.
hshortt, can you provide a fix or provide the registry keys that this install/uninstall modified?
EDIT: Nevermind, fixed on my own...
Works with the HTC Touch / Vouge. Just had to do a soft reset twice. For some reason after the first time, the touch screen stopped responding.
I'd like to know what you did to get your keyapd tones back, this program sucks!!!

guys i have tried the solution in the above link, it didnt work out.
if i exported the registry files from a non screwd device, and exported to my mine... will it work out?
This program is not very effective, cause when I tap out a phone number naturally I tap it quickly, and you have to hold for at least 300ms (I reckon) for it to even do a little vibrate.
it somehow needs to be much more sensitive, lower ms or something. Maybe its a limitation of the whole vibrate mechanism in the phone anyway.
Oh well.
Lost All Sounds
after installing i lost all sound output from my back speaker
no music, no ringtones, nothing
it only made my phone pad vibrate but screwed up all other sound output
tried to uninstall & still no fix
also hard reset & gflashing ROM again didnt fix
did it screw up my device completely !!!!!!!!!!
any fix please???
Vibrate dial pad
Thank you ! This is just what I was looking for
Sorry.Didn't find how to delete message
Hi pretty neat program, until I found a better one TouchResponse... This one allows you to even select the vibration time, and it vibrates on every tap on your touch screen. Well the problem is I un-installed Phone Pad Vibrate and now the the sound is gone when I press a phone number. The link for the fix isn't working, so how do I fix it so I can get the sound back???
Did the link for removal instructions get moved/removed for this?
The link from above is still broken. Anyone have instructions on how to remove this app?
could someone upload it on rapidshare, because i can´t load it, thank you

Device Lock after x mins?

I have upgraded my Hermes to WM6 and wanted to start locking the keypad.
The built in Device lock is fine, however I want this to automatically lock the device after 5 minutes.
I know there is a more advanced lock that can be activated after a period of time but I don't want to enter a 4 digit pin.
Are there any custom apps out there capable of performing this task?
Thanks
Mark
You could try the "Slide 2 Unlock" app posted >HERE<. That looks like it'll do what you're after.....
HTH,
Mark.
phoneAlarm
Ok, tried this app and like it... but...
I believe I have found a issue with this application when using phoneAlarm on my Hermes WM6..
I currently have phoneAlarm configured to alert me 30 times when I have a text message or missed call. This will continue to alert me until it has done it 30 times or I hav read the text etc..
What I have found since installing Slide2Unlock is that I don't get ANY alerts now.
Is there a registry setting that will get around this problem or is it a restrictions in the application?
Thanks
Mark
Voicemail Indicator...
Is there a registry setting that allows you to turn on a voicemail indicator on the screen? That would be a nice addition.
By the way, this is a coooool app! Thanks for the effort and bring this to the masses.

Once you get a voicemail, the indicator comes on. If you don't have any voicemails (and texts or e-mails for that matter), then no icon shows up.

Not sure if this is applicable, but I had a problem with Voice Command not waking up when I pressed my bluetooth with this app. I found that by disabling the autosuspend since I had it set to come on automatically when the phone goes into hibernation (set through the battery options), it would work again.
ie: Autostart=1
BlankScreen=1
IdleStart=0

Tested this out last night by calling myself and leaving a voicemail. The only indicators on the IPhone-esque screen were 'text msg' and 'missed calls' counts. Maybe I don't have something configured properly.

t-mobile dash sms notification

is there any way to fix the notifications so when i get a message the tone will stop when i press a key instead of playing the whole tone? i like setting custom tones but i hate how they dont stop when i press a key. they always have to play through completely.
Do you need to have a tone that is so long that it bothers you?
if your using a mp3 as a text tone i recommend you edit that sucker down to size, audacity is a free program that works great for that
A simple search would have found u the answer.... Edit the tone....
HTC Audio Manger 2.0 works fine for editing too.
It only edits to the seconds, but it doesn't really bother me.
so there is no way at all to fix it to stop when you open the message like other phones do?

The command to play the sound is not initiated until message transaction is completed. The end key will silence the sound and not affect the message. I have done this by accident a few times, but I do agree, shorten the sound file.
