STK Service dialog keeps popping up - P3600 ROM Development

This weekend I was in a foreign country so my device uses roaming.
A very annoying thing was the appears of a dialog which had the following properties:
STK Service (title of the dialog)
Message: Vodafone Partner
Left button: Ok
Right button: Options -> Back and allow
The dialog popped up ever few minutes.
Can somebody tell me:
- What is the STK Service?
- Does we need it?
- Can it be disabled?

STK = Sim Tool Kit, you don't need it.
I have not seen how to disable it, so can't help there.

Every time I put in a new ROM this keep happening to me, I have to go to the register and delete 2 or 3 Regkeys, I search for "STK" in RecoRegistry and then delete the keys, don't delete the keys with the name "tcpipstk" Because they got nothing todo with it. After the delete, do a softreset and the popups will stop displaying...

Just remove the stk_service would be fine:
HKLM\Services\Stk_service

Thank for the quick support.
Where can I find more info about the Sim Toolkit?
Is it usefull for normal use of the device or is it a developer tool?

No it isn't.

HTC Artemis Problem with ezdial!

Hi to All,
I am having a problem with my Artemis. I installed ezdial but it stucks the phone. I think that it has to do with the replacment of the default dialskin.
The problem is that I do not have the default because the phone it is already manupulated from a Greece company called ACE HEllAS.
Can anyone send me the original skin ?? Or maybe now anything of this sittuation?
Thanks in advance
Best regards to all
It doesn't have anything to do with the skin. I too have the greek version by ACE HELLAS. You install the EZDial 2 (not EZDial!) version and then you just need to disable Smart Dial!
Click the call (green) button on the left. Click Menu -> Smart Dialing Option -> Uncheck the "Enable Smart Dialing" option -> Click 'OK'.
Make sure that EZDial is enabled (Menu -> Ezdial Enabled).
Install the Greek support for EZDial (free download from their website).
Edit the following file: \Program Files\EZdial\Lang\Greek\lang.ini in order to have support for greek tonos and the greek final s. You edit this file by copy-paste to your desktop and then using notepad. Afterwards copy-past it back to your phone (replace the original) and restart your device.
That's it: proper greek support for dialing! Works for me!

Are you sure? I have done already the above with no good result. When I choose menu-options and I try to change the sound of the phone when ringing then the phone stucks. If I disable the ezdial then everythink works fine
I have installed a skin from zphone.. I will try to install ezdial after hard reset..
Thanks.

I think you haven't tried it on a Greek P3300 device. It doesn't work even if doing so after a hard reset and having disabled smart dialing beforehand.
I tried to install EZDial 2.01 without having installed the extened rom and it worked perfectly even though I didn't disable smart dialing. That means that it has nothing to do with smart dialing. It is the Greek rom definitely.
Well I have found where the problem is.. tapres.dll!!! The one created by ACE hellas ;(
To "fix" the problem rename the file tapres.dll.0408.mui at /windows/ directory to tapres1.dll.0408.mui.
But be carefull you will not have Greek at phone application and at the phone application contacts.
If you want to re-enable Greek fonts then just rename back to tapres.dll.0408.mui and softreset the device.
I hope that ACE HELLAS will fix this in the future...
I will upload the tapres file maybe it could help anyone here!!

You think wrong! I have the Greek version from Ace Hellas bought by Plaisio. It works exactly as I have described above with no need to touch any of the *.mui or other files besides the one INI file I described above. I
have installed EZDial 2.10. Did you tried this version? Original or cracked?
I have tried ezdial 2.10 trial. But the phone keeps stucks when I try to change the sound the phone rings, or when someone calls me..
I have bought the phone from vodaphone but it is also from ace hellas + navimate
Can you send your file tapres.dll.0408.mui?
thanks in advance

Ok, here it is!
Also try to change the UI language to English and try again (Settings -> System -> Language). Do you still get the same problem?
Again are you SURE that Smart Dialing is disabled and ONLY EZDial is enabled??
Unfortunately I tried your tapres with no luck .. The same problem again.. When I changed to English language then everythink was fine but I prefer to have the phone application in English and the rest of the phone in Greek rather that the whole phone in English..
Thanks I think we will have to wait for the Next firmware

Judging from the past you will have to wait for a loong time...
It seems that Ace has done a poor job with the localisation. EZ Dial is not working as it should be. The SMS settings dialog does not appear as it should be (you know about this one, right?). Add to that their blatant support for that piece of cr*p software called navimate and the picture is complete...
(not to mention the fact that they are selling the taster version as a "premium"... yeah, whatever...).

Make your X01HT a WM6 Device (for Gaijins)

You just got your X01HT and would like to use the latest WM6 ROM in English with your Softbank account ?
Here is a quick guide, gathering information that has been exchanged and spread accross many threads on this forum (Searches can be fastidious, I know that well...)
I have been reading this forum a lot, keeping on asking questions to everybody, so it's time I contribute a bit to help by describing step by step how I switched my Japanese WM5 Softbank X01HT to a WM6 English device
This post is target at Gaijins who want an English WM6, but still want to be able to use Japanese with it. For a Japanese MUI or ROM, I guess Asukal will probably publish something
***EDIT: for a 100% Japanese ROM, you can now have it here: http://buzzdev.net/index.php?option...um_query=read,40,30486,30597,page=2#msg-30597 ***
I was first willing to cook a ROM including all these, in order to spare some space on my HERMES. I had already cooked an "intermediary" one when Tadzio issued his method to make a "shrinked" OS ROM that would allow you to use the spare space from the ROM
Since this, no point in adding all these mods in my ROM
First: making flashing safe
Download Hard-SPL-V2 from the great Olipro to avoid bricking your device. Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
Install it
Then, get your ROM.
Download the_passenger ROM shrink version of LVSW 20070320 ROM (More space available) and install it (Read threads about flashing ROMs if you are not familiar with that...)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8YJATBPG
Install the Softbank AP Settings for your internet connection. You really WANT that. Big thanks to itamae without whom we'd be stuck on first of April this year... (Or I'd still be using WM5)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298031
Now you need a Registry editor
I am used to PHM Regedit. You can find it there for free:
http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/
To map properly your Softbank Keyboard, do the following registry modifications:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty] "Layout"= 30411 (Hexadecimal base)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload] "Default"= e0010411
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1] "Default"= e0010411
More details here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286787&highlight=keyboard+x01HT
To allow the video Call key to appear on your phone keypad, modify the registry as follows:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin] Enabled = 1
Optional: getting rid of useless trayapp (It looks nice... but it Slows down the Hermes and you can replace it with better apps)
Delete TrayApp key from [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init]
Fix the disappearing micro SD (Doesnt really work for mine... But could work for yours...)
[HKLM\System\StorageManager]"PNPUnloadDelay" = dword:8196 (Decimal base)
[HKLM\System\StorageManager]"PNPWaitIODelay" = dword:8196 (Decimal base)
More details here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294324
Now time to have your Hermes speak Japanese
Japanese fonts
Use the excellent work from Asukal, that you can find here:
http://www.asukal.jp/WM5/LetsJapanNo5.zip
I did have a problem with it: once I executed it, I could not sync with my Exchange server (Quite a pain for my push email account...)
Asukal found the solution: edit the registry, and change
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Mobem\CE-Star] "MyNLS" = "\windows\wince.nls"
Japanese input
Not using for myself, but these work perfectly (I tried):
http://www.asukal.jp/WM5/BagojsINPUT.zip
*** EDIT
If you prefer a Japanese input without the annoying "Floating bar", ie just the same input way as your original WM5 Softbank ROM, just downlaod and install the "MS IME31 J" link from Asukal's page:
http://hn801.hkes.com/Data/SIP/IME_31J_QVGA_F.zip
*** /EDIT
Silent mode switch
You're going to be missing the Softbank unique way of switching to silent mode (Only available in Softbank ROM)
The way to go around this is by using Vibra
Details available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=277811&highlight=vibra
Download here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=31657&d=1164714506
MMS
Softbank's MMS System is a pain because it's incompatible with "classic" MMS systems...
You can download Softbank's software... But... it's slow, big, bulky, ugly, etc... If you dont mind missing the emoticons, you should go for MMSLite
Regedit, Look for Arcsoft. Delete all references to Arcsoft (Sometimes need to be done in several times, some entries being in use if you have by mistake launched MMS Composer once since your flash of the OS...)
If you dont do these eletions, MMSLite will actually not install...
Downlaod and install MMSLite
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=33982&d=1170599400
It should work perfectly !
I you have enough courage (And ONLY after having installed Hard-SPL 1.11 !!!), you can try flashing your radio
You dont have to... but the latest 1.38 does seem to grant an improved battery life
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=297925
Now you're done, you have a great phone with a faster OS, more storage space, improved battery life, that works perfectly with Softbank AP, can use Softbank proprietary MMS system, and can read and write Japanese
After, there are lots of other things you can do, like mounting your Extended ROM to gain extra space, Unlock the SIM, etc, etc... But it is not the purpose of this thread. Have fun reading the forum, it is well documented in other threads
Have fun !!

Hello,
The only problem when upgrading is the Japanese input. I used sometimes (so I need it), but I I install Japanese input package you told in your post the I have a really annoying floating bat anywhere, and it's really unnoying.
There is no way to have same kind of input in enlish ROM?

Try Asukal's IME package (see bottom of page):
http://asukal.net/blog/?cat=8&paged=3
... it includes the input method from WM5 (or one extremely similar). I'm using it with WM6 Black Edition 1.2 and have had no problems with input so far.
As for other Japanese/Japan-conversion-related issues:
- I found that when the Japanese wince.nls file is loaded, .NET CF programs crash with a 'PlatformNotSupportedException' error.
- With MMSLite installed, I can receive MMS, but not send.

I actually installed the Japanese ROM you linked to, it works like a charm, but I have a question to SoftBank users :
I'm going to work in Japan soon (1st of April) but I want to use my Hermes as my primary phone, etc. Is it possible to go to a SoftBank shop and tell them basically "Don't ask me how, but this phone is SoftBank-compatible. Now please register it into the SoftBank network and gimme a standard phone subscription. Thanks".
Meaning how can I register my phone (SIM card ? I looked and they seem to have only outrageously expensive SIM cards on loan for 108円 a day, with no 3G connectivity. Or is it possible to get a standard subscription?)?
Thanks for your help

Really? I don't get a floating bar.
Did you try it on a clean installation of WM6, or did you install it after installing the Bagojs IME? Maybe some settings in the registry are causing the bar to appear.
Also, did you set your locale to Japanese in "Control Panel->System->Regional Settings"?

You shouldn't need to install both BagojsIME and Asukal's IME package, just Asukal's. BagojsIME provides an older version of the MS IME.
Use you own phone with SB
You can pick a ZERO Yen phone to do a new contract with SB. Then change the sime card to your onw phone. Suppose you have a sim-unlock phone.

I didnt have to install anything to get the Manner mode working. I think this is implemented in WMXL. But when i set the phone skin security to 1
my phone pad disappears, turns white. Renders unusable. The only fix for me is to set it back to 0.
This might be due to the carrier setting, it happens immediately after running SB external rom carrier info.
Any ideas?

Super Mapple v6 installation issues, japanese

I Need some help with the installation of Super Mapple v6 on my WM6 devie.
I have followed this page:

I have replaced the MsgStore.dll file in the windows dir.
Installed the MultiByteCab.
But I still get the same error when I run PocketMappleD6. It says: Could not be installed, choose a different location.
And I´ve tried bouth device, and sd card.
Thanx!
Uhm, I think you may be in the wrong place. Perhaps you should contact the software developer?
well, they say that it only works with -> wm2003se. But since people get it to work with WM5, I thought that WM6 also would be possible...
Is there a common way of installing wm2003 programs on wm6?
i have my PocketMappleD7 on my device WM6 OS and it is running fine.
I switched to v7, today, And it works! Tnx
Could you please to tell me where i can get Pocket Mapple V7. Im looking for it. thanks in advance
hope someone can help. i can't find too much english help on pocket mapple setup. i have v7 installed on my X01ht with original softbank rom. for some reason though, the map i have installed (osaka) has blocks and squiggles instead of kanji. is there something i'm missing or didn't install correctly? any chance that it could be the English MUI i have installed that's affecting it?
@swordfishjp - you have to purchase or order the software at any Local japanese electronics shop (ie. LAOX, etc ...)
@shunsai - verify your device Regional Settings is set to Japanese (Japan). the menu path is Start-Settings-System-Regional Settings. Do a Restart the device. and run your application again.

I basic newb question about wm6 rom upgrading

if I upgrade to Karmba_a_6.2_EN-18548, do I lose all my phones network settings?
Or will this just upgrade the OS and leave the orange network settings, and installed programs intact?
Sorry if this is a basic newbie question.
I have he original Orange rom that was kindly listed for backing out if needed, and I understand that my warrenty will be invalid if I brick it and can't back it out.
I love the look of the touchflo cube stuff and how much cooler the WM6 interface looks, and the reports of better performance under WM6, and apparently how Orange won't officially make an upgrade rom.
I just want to outdo my bosses new iPhone

Yes it's a newbie question
If you flash any ROM you will loose EVERITHING
If you flash you will loose warranty
But you always can "downgrade" and get warranty again

Dont worry......Karmba has network wizard in his ROM, you can find it in start/settings/connection, so it will automatically detect your network & set everything for you......
That is even better.
Excellent news.
I guess I shall give it a go tonight.
The Auto detect network settings option found in WM6 Roms is "all well and good" but it does miss certain Orange UK customised settings so I would advise that you install this Orange UK Settings CAB v1.6. by rabdo . The file configures default orange custom settings to name but a few.
Description: -Installs Internet and MMS settings for Orange UK
-changes UMTS prefix to 3G when on 3G networks
-fixes voicemail icon
-fixes user agent ID (for orangeworld)
-changes regional settings to UK
-Black-IV-Shadow compliant!!! (contains sdkcerts)
-Adds Pocket IE shortcut to orangeworld
I shall add that to the list of things to add.
I've already backed up with SettingSaviour.
So I guess it is
Unlock
Flash
add the cab for the orange custom operator settings
re-install tomtom
restore the backup I have of data and settings.
I have installed Karmba into my D810, but the new rom unable to retrieve contact from my SIM. Now i force to copy all the Sim contacts to phones inorder to use it.

Edit your registry to change the ShowSim key in HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone to value: 1 (dword) for showing SIM contacts.
You can turn it off by changing the key to 0 (dword).
Well, it is flashed and running and my settings are back.
I had to reflash the radio rom back to a higher one, to get GPS back, but SettingSaviour/Pimbackup and the Orange settings cab did the job.
Still need to work out why Touchflo isn't so sensitive, but minor things.

Fix for the .Net texbox input issue in Yahoo Go and WLS on the HTC S630

Here is the Fix for the .Net textbox input issue present in the HTC S630 that affects WLS and Yahoo Go !!!
Soft reset after installing the .cab
Thanks to Vertigo1md1032 at http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?postid=10489722#post10489722
Tried but did not work
Hello there,
I installed the Cab (install to: device) on my unlocked X02HT with dopod rom.
Turned the device off and on again but no change.
I am using FuseSP and PocketDOS and still both have this annoying numeric keyboard problem
Or does this hack only fix the Yahoo Go and WLS issues?
On my HTC S630 it fixed the problem I had with Yahoo Go, I really don't know if this fixes other apps (this should fix the input problems in the textboxes in .Net bassed apps, but I haven't tried any other) and if this works with other ROMs apart from HTC's one, I guess is just a matter of testing it.
The instructions that I have from that forum are:
- copy the .cab to your phone
- run the .cab with File Explorer to install it
- restart your phone (or shut it off, then turn it back on)
- it should work after that
It worked!
Hi,
I am using softbank X02HT with Dopod C730 ROM. This fixed the input bug with Yahoo! Go.
Thank you so much for this fix! I'm always grateful to smart ppl that come up with things like this!
Yus
does not work somehow on my x02ht dopod rom
as mentioned before i tried it with my x02ht with dopod rom. i did not try it with yahoo go but with other apps i had this numeric key problem with and there was no change...
funny thing is i can install the .cab file as often as I want to. It looks like it installs fine. And then just for fun if I click the cab again after reboot it installs it again. It does not tell me it is already installed even after installing it for the x-time. Is this normal? I tried to installl to device and storage card. no change.
Cheers
