Hi.
Is there anybody using palm's threaded messages program?
I have a problem with mms picture quality. And because nobody else seems to have those problems I thought maybe it is related to WM6.
Program seems to reduse quality in sending and receiving. Haven't found any option to select resolution.
I dont know the current resolution, but I can clearly see pixels without any zooming. And total message size is about 30k. Picture was originally taken with trinitys camera with full resolution (not in mms-mode).
Yes...anyone made palm messaging (threaded sms) worked on trinity or WM6?
I just installed threaded sms ripped from WM6.
I couldnt receive delivery report & MMS seemed not work as well....anyone cah help me?

Hi all
I have come across the problem that I can't send SMS larger than 160 chars after I upgraded to the "official" WM6. I am using the Swedish version on a HTC TyTN. When I try and send a message that is larger than the 160 chars i get a message saying (loosely translated from Swedish) Can't send SMS. After I click ok I also get notification on the bottom left part of the sms window saying synchronization error.
Has anyone else got the same problem and if so have anyone found a solution.
/Nicklas
Just to clarify...
I take it to mean that you could sent sms that were over 160 characters before you upgraded?
Because most of the providers that I know don't allow that.
Found something on the forums about this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293505
Hope it helps.
Yes I could since the SMS program automatically sends the large SMS in smaller parts.
Say I make an SMS with 203 chars then it would send it as 2 sms, one with the first 160 chars and then a second sms with 43 chars and when the SMS arrive to the recieving phone it will be put together if that phone is capable of that. Now days I think all phones can do this. Or at least should be able to do this but after the upgrade to WM6 this fails on my TyTN.
i guess the previous version of the SMS application was allowing what is called multiparts message, meaning it send as many SMS of 160 car regarding your text lengh but with no guarantee that the reviever will have them in the proper order
usually SMS is limited to 160 car
larsuck: Thanx for the link but nothing in that helped.
So if anyone else have any idea I would much appreciate it because it is a bit frustrating that it worked with wm5 and not with wm6 so far
Have you tried to take a look at DiStefano's Cab Collection? There is an Palm SMS application. You can try it with this application if it is possible on you're device. Its a small test!
Good luck
Well I found out how to fix it.
I did this:
Once upgraded settings need to be changed to ensure desired operation, on the device go to start>settings>connections(tab)>USB to PC, untick the box (Enable advanced network functionality) then exit back to the today screen.
Click to collapse
??? Why would this have an effect on SMS limitations?
I don't know exactly why but what I did was that I hard reseted the unit and after that multipart sms worked as it should. Then I connected the usb cable and ActivSync wanted to reconfigure the settings so I went through the wizard. One of the questions I get is if I want to let internet calls and mms to be sent when the unit is connected and I choose that. Then I let the unit sync with my PC.
After that I couldn't send multipart sms again until I unticked the Enable advanced network functionality box
If anyone knows why this is please enlighten me
Hi.
Have a problem with received mms messages size.
I suppose that MMSC server is shrinking size of pictures, because it recognizes my device wrongly.
When I send message it is over 160k but received size is only 10k, and picture is damn small.
I think tytn had same problems with wm6 but don't know have they solved it.
Usin PDAVIET .10
i have the same problem .....
try this cab it will resolve the problem .
Nope. That didn't solve my problem.
Still tiny pictures

Did you try:
Open messaging
Menu/tools/options
Click on MMS
Preferences tab - Photo resolution = Original
Don't know if it affects receive size but does for sending
Yes, but it effects only on sending. And my device is sending them right. Only receiving is problem.
On microsoft forums I saw thread where they were discussing about similar problem. Even they haven't solved it yet.

You're right, I just sent myself a test MMS and the picture size was reduced to 12k. I don't know if the MMS server or the phone is doing it, but it's definitely happening.
Are you with T-Mobile? If not, maybe it's not the MMS server.
I have Finnish operator called "Saunalahti" and now using full ver. of Indigo.
Excuses by my English…
I have himself problem.
I cannot send more than 300 kb, and only 5 receipt kb although sends to me an image of more size.
I have modified all the values of registry related to the size of the MMS, but solution does not exist … at the moment...
GREETINGS
Does anyone know of some application that would make it so when you get an SMS from a contact it will display a picture associated with the contact on the screen as a sort of notification?
I had this function on my old SE k800 and I always thought it looked so pretty when receiving text messages. It had support for both regular jpgs and animated gifs. Also on my N95 there was an application who did that fullscreen (although it was quite buggy).
So there's nothing at all that can do this?
If you using the WM6.5....SMS in the Titanium panel will show the message with a contact picture...
SmileySMS does the job!
got my touch pro 2 a few days ago, everything works fine apart from MMS, when receiving these they come through ok but are very tiny. Cant seem to enlarge them at all, the size of the file is around 6k which is far to small for an mms. anyone else seen this ?
if not will ring o2 in the morning and see if they are doing anything there end. never had this issue on my tytn II but have only just moved to o2 so might be that.
thanks for any help.
nobody else experiencing this ?, I have logged a support call with o2 to see if it is something there end. Very strange.
o2 helpful as ever, they wont assist as they dont support the handset.
There must be a setting somewhere in the registry where the phone is automatically downsizing these pictures as even if i send one to myself from the phone it sends at 224k but then receives at 6k ?
very annoying.
anybody ?
at present for anyone else that is on o2 with this phone and wants to receive full size mms pictures until o2 get there finger out and officially support the phone. I used the following settings from the htc touch, these settings need to be modified in the registry.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader]
Accept application/vnd.wap.mms-message,*/*
Accept-Charset us-ascii, utf-8, iso-10646-usc-2, ISO-8859-1, ISO-8859-2
Accept-Language en
User-Agent HTC_Touch_HD_T8282/arcsoft-mmsua-5.0.0.xx
x-wap-profile http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/HTC_Touch_HD_T8282-1.0.xml
this seems to work for me. now getting my grand daughter who has just been born at full resolution. much better than this tiny thumbnail size that I was receiving, she's small enough as it is.
My MMS wont send or receive on o2. Where do I change the settings?
What are they?
My data works fine and everything else!!
Thanks.
Stu.
If you have a custom ROM most will require a secondary CAB install for MMS provisioning. Check the thread of your custom ROM for MMS related information.
I was being charged the group texts as photo messages (on Orange network), just now orange support people confirmed me that there's a bug in Nokia Lumia phones that it always send group texts as photo messages. is it true? any body else facing the issue? any fix?
cheers...
I don't think that's exclusive to the Lumia, or a bug. Pretty sure that's just how Windows Phone works. You may want to look at using GroupMe which does go over SMS or Push.
hmm, you mean sending sms to more than one person on windows phone goes out a photo message or MMS message? I think this was not the case in HTC Mozart i used to have last year and even in previous versions of windows phone.
is there any setting I need to change? unfortunately the orange support team gave a clear verdict that on Nokia Lumia any sms going out to more than one receipient will go as MMS / photo messages.
If you look at Messaging settings it says "Helps keep replies in one thread by using MMS" under the Group Text option. So, group text is going to use MMS on any WP7 device, not just a Lumia.

Try turning off Group Text option in Messaging Settings and see if that fixes it.
Thanks and I've just turn the group text off and tested with my colleagues, it's ok now. but will check the group messages abroad because that's where I was charged as photo text messages.
cheers....
