Route 66 Compatible? - P3300, MDA Compact III General

Does anybody know whether Route 66 Navigation 7 works on the Orbit?
Thanks.

Perfectly...Right down to the "traffic master" which the only cost to you is the GPRS data....

Route66
Second that... works a treat. Getting my hands on new maps next week too

Compatible?
Try as I will I am unable to get Route 66 working. It gets as far as selecting the map and then locks up. aNY IDEAS ANYONE?

Not being smart, but it may be the maps that are damaged. Try pulling another one down from one of the torrent sites

Jargon speak?
what on earth is a Torrent site Padraic?

torrents site are like a download cataluage that works a bit like a bear share

HTC P3300 GPS port????

hi can any one tell me which port the gps is on ,,i removed tom tom BC it dosen't have maps for the place im in ,,i want to use navigon 5 but when i put auto detect it can't fine it i tryed manul,, but didnt work,, any help plzzz...thx
GPS port is set to COM4 by default.
I hope that this helps.
I can get iGuidance 3.0 to recognize it on COM 4 with the automatic GPS management turned on... HOWEVER, the GPS positions are not recieved and it cannot get a fix.
Tom Tom works okay, but I'd rather use iGuidance.
Adam, when in TT tap the sat strength meter, when the unit is displaying the sat strength/ status page is it giving the individual sat numbers and signal strength? I apreciate this app is working I just want an answer to that question before trying the next idea - Mike

Yes, the GPS Status page in the included TomTom software does show the sat numbers/signal strength in addition to their relative location.
When starting TomTom at first it says "No GPS detected" then after a couple seconds it says "Waiting for a valid GPS signal.." I'm not sure if that means there's something hard coded into this TomTom versions that actually turns the GPS receiver on.
What's your next idea?
I live in Colorado and received my P3300 yesterday. I can't seem to download my free map for some reason. When I get into PIE from the TomTom app, and select the state and press Next I get the following error message pop up:
“The page you are looking for cannot be found due to unknown error 0x80072f78.”
Anyone have any idea why this would be happening? I love this device outside of this issue.

Not for iGuidance v3.0 it doesn't work. What program did you get it to work with?

I wish I could get it to work; I've tried countless times in the past 48 hours with no luck when choosing any state in the US. Same error message.
I am running Navigon 5 with success, but the app is slow overall. Anyone get Mapopolis to run on this device? I tried yesterday with COM 4; it was trying hard to get a fix, but it wouldn't go for me with the latest version.
Btw,
Do ya guys know if MapKing will work on the device?
I'm kinda new to GPS, and wondering how in-built GPS systems will work with any softwares. Thanks
I've tried the TomTom software and it works well with this device. Microsoft pocket streets worked, but didnt seem to work well. Going to try Iguidance and see if that is any good.
gps
Has anyone gotten this to work with Iguidance 3.0, for some reason iguidance will not work with the artemis gps. If you have it working, what did you have to do to get it to work?

I had a O2 orbit xba and I loaded the Navigator 5 but having problem detecting GPS receiver...can anyone help?? I set the GPS to COM4 but still cannot work. What is the setting for GPS for Navigator 5?
I know on my HTC P3300, I have troubles getting a signal so I am came to the conclusion that I am going to need an external antenna because the built in one isn't that great.

The solution to this program is as follows:
Run regedit in your HOST computer and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services, Add a DWORD setting "AllowLSP" with value set to 0

You have to be connected to internet before you start TT and download free maps... fastest way is thru WiFi. You can also use activesync to get connected to internet.

Off to the States with Cube.. what I need to know?

Hi,
I installed cube last night.. looks really good so far.
I'm off to the states soon with my XDA Orbit configured with Cube.
Does anyone have any suggestions for using a UK O2 XDA Orbit with Cube while in the states ?? - rather than find out the hard way
Do I need to do anything to use my installed TomTom free?
Thanks
Cube is cube, using it has no relevance to the country you are in.
From personal experience of travelling to the states, if you don't mind the data charges, install Windows Live Search, getting a GPS fix and searching for your nearest Wal-Mart etc is great.
Make sure you turn off any automatic data updates you don't need, ie weather etc.
For Tomtom, obviously you need the appropriate USA maps on your SD card and it's good to go. It found me some amazing shortcuts through Florida, however it also managed to find me a couple of dead ends. Roads change around alot in the states. Don't switch off common sense when switching on Sat Navs.
That's very helpful, especially "install Windows Live Search, getting a GPS fix and searching for your nearest Wal-Mart "
Thanks!

try com 4, rate 9600.
Forgive me if I understood your problem wrongly. While the HD has built-in GPS it is not supplied with any software or app associated with it for navigating or even for displaying coordinates or compass navigation.
Once you download the Google Maps (which also supports, for some countries the street map display) application onto your device, it will make use of the GPS and show you your position, with moving map display as you drive, quite smoothly and accurately. It will also show your approximate position indoors without GPS (using A-GPS and the cell site ID supporting LBS).
For point to point navigation and voice prompts guess one has to use 3rd party app like Garmin XT, TomTom; but I have not used these.

yes but in the software or in the hardware field?
You need to state what software you are using. If its Google maps just let Windows manage the GPS.
Why doesn't the GPS Photo work. It says that GPS is not active or something. What's up with that?

Thank you, but it doesn't work so!!! What's wrong???
I had the same problem, no one can't help me. Any gps software I used couldn`t find gps reciver, I've tried any combinations with COM ports....nothing. After 1 month and about 10 gps software I removed SIM card....and BINGO!!!! My old SIM card generate problem that nothing can find built-in gps reciver in my Touch HD. Try without SIM card and if it works go to operator and replace to new SIM card
Endow
Not at all
Sorry about this, but your tips does'nt help me:
I removed the SIMcard but the GPS in GOOGLEMAP didn't work anyway!
I tried to let it be managed by windows and to set it on COM4 with 9600bauds but no options succeded!
I can't understand what's wrong!!!
Another thing
Furthermore, when I set up the GPS-params in the params-application of windows mobile 6, the hard port (COM4) I chose isn't recorded by the software!!!
Maybe it's a hint for the answer?
Help me, geeks of HTC!
go to google and download the lastest ver. google map.
try to go to a window or a open space and turn on the google map. press option and try to click use gps , and see any reading on the top right of the map screen.
dont need to adjust any com 4,5,6 things.
once you got a lock on gps. you can close the google map and start to look out for third party nav software. try it.
Mine works perfectly fast at
COM: 4
BAUD: 57600
Im using iGuidance 2009
does ur phone need to go online when activating the gps? my car's gps doesnt need online yet the device can detect its location. however when i use google map, the phone just went online and try to search for my location. not too ideal as i have to pay for every kb sent/recieved.
Ooo
Maybe I will try to refresh the GPRSSettings with the soft designed for it!
I will reply when I'll know further about it...
Mine shows correct location when I set port - Com4 and BAUD: 57600 on Google maps for just a second. Then it jumps to some other continent and says GPS not available and shows the help dialog. Allowing windows to manage gps also gives same results what am i doing wrong?? or is it a limitation of blackstone/google maps app..
Reply
I've tryed what you done but it didn't succeded!
In the GMaps List I see: "COM4:" and there is nothing after the ":" !
When I confirm this update, the soft tell me that he can't found a device on this COM!!!
ok, my settings, com4, bd 4800, let windows manage (which kinda negates any settings before hand) Google maps set to let windows manage. My GPS locks well and always finds plenty of satalites, so i dont understand why you guys are having problems.
Howver, on my polaris with cooked rom, my google maps does misbeahve sometimes when the gps is locked and the map will suddenly say im in hong kong when im in the uk!! (i even unistalled google that was included in rom and downloaded new version from google)
So i believe in my limited wisdom that its probably a rom issue (radio more likely).
What i do have to decide is if the official 1.56 rom is worth flashing or not (still on 1.14)
What you guys think?
Reply
I'm not sure to understand you because I come from Switzerland and I main speek French.
YOu think that it is a ROM version's problem? Which one should I install? (and how to do it ?)
Thanks so much!
P.S.: I don't have changed any ROM or Radio Version in this HTC Touch HD!
I have never fiddled with ROM but I have same issue. google maps jumps continent!! momentarily despite 7 satellites. May be an issue with Google maps itself??

gps locator

i have just bought a new X1.
i know that it has GPS antenna inside, but actually it does not have any locator. do you know where i can find a good one?
You can use Google Map
just enable GPS in google map option.
thank you!
Yes i know there is a Google map, but i do not want to use my GPRS service. i want to get the signals through satellightes!
i wonder if you know Nokia N95. it has a software on the phone named MAP, or Mapping. there you can get the satellight signals for your GPS and find your geographic point. i want something like that. i have found some but they need .NET to be installed!

Help Needed with X1 Garmin Applications

long time reader...1st time poster!!
Hey Gang,
I'm from India & bought x1 2 weeks back. Installed Garmin xt on x1.. tried using it..thought it shows everything POI, every time I click GO TO a particular place... it always come with "AWAITING BETTER GPS ACCURACY".
Do anyone know, If it can be resolved!!!
Thanks IN advance!
Sachin Ghai
click on the signal bars at the top left corner of the main page, then GPS info. Do you see your coordinates or do you see "acquiring satellites"? I only get the "awaiting better gps accuracy" when theres no satellite lock.
look at sky if ther are clouds it makes GPS hard to work.
but my X1's GPS works great and fast
but my GARMIN has 1 mistake
when I'm riding to my car and car shovs speed about 80km/h Garmin shows me about 60km/h
but on the map all streets and cordinates are very corect
Hi there,
There are still several issues in GarminXT on a windows phone! I always used garmin before i tryed tomtom and several others. at first i didn't like tomtom, but it doesn't have any problem with anything! it's alot faster and more reliable! I think you must try tomtom version 7.916. this is the latest

You install it? Or you pay for it?
To be able to "see" satelites from this app, you must register it
I'm using Garmin in my X1 for quite long time without problems.

This is not normal with Garmin. The map is just not complete. you can use Garmin City Navigator to update the maps. Other option is to look for a map for North America witch is activated already.
Good luck with it!!!!!!

You may use and SEX1_HTC_GPS_tooll too.
I am not shure if is it allowed on this forum to talk about warez...?
Anyway, you have to find keygen with instructions (it is tricky to do it but can be done).
Untill you got registered version of Garmin app with map on your device you will not "see" satellites. Also, when you all done with registration and all that, go outside and do some "where to" route and wait to find satellites for first time...it takes for minute or two (with QuickGPS installed and updated).
