I am planning on purchasing an MDA Vario on T-Mobile UK, however I need to use it on Vodafone UK.
I want to unlock the phone with least risk of causing any problems, or bricks as I see it more commonly termed as in this forum.
Is there a simple tool which does SIM unlock and nothing more and is it safe ? I was thinking lokiwiz version 0.1 might do that ?
Will all the new MDA Vario come with the G4 chip ? or is luck of the draw.
Please please can someone shed some light.
surely someone has done this, please please help me
I have done a straight unlock and it went fine to qtek 9100 firmware...
But:
Email and other funtions didnt work properly
Phone crashed alot
Finally the back light failed.
So about 10 minutes ago i switched back to the T-Mobile firmware.
Now everything is working perfectly and the new OS looks very nice too.
below24,
straight unlock ? -- what tool did you use to unlock ?
new OS ? -- do u mean the latest offcial T-mobile ROM ?
appreciate your input
Yes the Latest T-Mobile ROM, its from their site.
Well i have to use a piece of sortware found here, to unlock the lock on the phone so i could first flash it and that also unlocked it.
Then immediately debranded it to the Qtek 9100 ROM, which made the Device run slower (than the T-mobile one)
Not sure what it was called though probably the lokiwiz version 0.1, that was the one. Very easy and straight forward...
G4 chip MDA Vario unlocked
Got my vario today locked to T-mobile UK. And yes it was a G4 chip.
IPP/SPL - 2.21.0001
OS - 2.24.2.6
I had no t-mobile SIM so stuck my vodafone SIM in, first asks for my personal SIM password, then it asks for unlock code.
At this point I ran lokiwiz03a, which ran but never gave me unlock code, mentioned something about not being able to copy some file and it might be in use.
So I copied EnableRapi.cab to my phone and ran EnableRapi.cab from File Explorer, that went fine (message about overwrite, said yes)
Then I ran LockiwizMsl.bat from desktop while being connected to ActiveSync and there it was the unlock code.
Entered worked fine.
As regards the ROM upgrade, my main reason was to lose all t-mobile crap, but found an easier way with ZERO risk:
First time ever you startup phone it does inital setup, the last step it beings to do an install, as soon as the install starts pull the battery out, then reboot. (Important to have the battery cover off already)
On reboot you should be able to go into the phone no setup screens this time, also ZERO customizations, yes means you need to do all the GPRS, MMS etc etc setting yourself, but that I am happy to do.
Hope this helps someone.
forgot main thing, used lokiwiz03a, thanks to machinagod.
Good, im glad i could have been of assistance.
good luck in the future with it.
but the pulling out of the battery im not too sure about...
I agree pulling battery out sounds crazy, I remember reading it in a forum, thought it would never work myself, since it was a new phone i could always return in 7 days, so thought what the hell, let me try it out.
Been running one day, and everything works fine, phone is fine, wi-fi working, bluetooth and GPS, so far so good.
Trying some tweak programs now
Loving my MDA, why did i not get one sooner.
Thats what i thought, the Vario is very good, but i still think its a little on the large side and not as fast as it can be... I am really waiting for the tytn.
I have found that the firmware from T-mobile is pretty stable and has a quicker startup than the qtek 9100 firmware. however this may not be the case with everyones mobile, just me!
Could you not just perform a soft reset instead of pulling the battery out?
soft reset - you mean when the install begins ?
really not sure, guess next person can try this out and let us know.
This tool is great, file transfer it to your MDA then just click on it, it will unlock your phone to all networks, I tried it on my MDA Vario with T-mobile for an o2 sim and it works great no issues, I can use GPRS, MMS, Call waiting etc
...yes, soft reset while device installs works (of course I made a full backup with SPB-backup first)...
straight forward unlock mda vario
I receiced this logfile while executing
xdadev_all_unlock started
device=WIZA200
could not find security key for device type WIZA200
xdadev_all_unlock failed
I guess mine is already unlocked, ain't it...

best way to tell is to put different provider sim in there and turn it on.
I Upgraded the MDA to WM6, worked fine and everything went okay for a while until I decided I wanted to use a NOMI sim card, and hadn't unlocked it.
I used lokiwiz to get the unlock code but there was nowhere to enter the it on the cooked WM6 ROM and it never displayed the sim lock screen, so I tried to downgrade it to the original T-mobile UK ROM just to do the SIM lock but the PC decided to crash as it was at 40%.
So it now freezes on the splash screen, and doesnt boot at all. I was thinking I could skim it accross the river maybe?
IPL 2.21.0001
SPL 2.21.0lip
GSM 02.19.11
OS 2.21.2.6
If theres nothing that can be done then in that case, does anyone want to buy an MDA? going cheap. Just call me on my mobile.. erm.. on second thoughts better just send me an email.
cheers
There is still nothing wrong its just failed flash process. Take the battery out and once you got boot screen .....run the upgrade process again. There is lots of info about this here on xda. just search for it.
Hi,
Last month I installed the T-Mobile dutch WM6 rom on my Vario II, but its still sim locked, so i wanted to remove that.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
I used this program, and followed the steps, it told me it updated succesfully.
But now when I insert my Vodafone rom, its not doing anything, it just keeps looking for a network, and when i try to go to phone settings, it tells me phone is not active, wait 15 seconds.
What can I do to fix this?
Thanks in advance
Edit: It still works if I put in my fathers' T-Mobile Sim
You can close this
Hey everyone, I'm new here so thank you all in advance for the Help.
I've recently acquired an HTC Diamond GSM phone. I live here in America and the phone was regionalized on a french carrier so I began my search on how to flash the firmware, thus ,hopefully, unlocking it. I stumbled across this site and after hours of reading the forums I was ready to try the three step process described on the [TUT] tutorial. I upgraded to Olinex 1.40 SPL, that worked flawlessly. Then I upgraded the radio to 1.0.25.23, worked. Finally I updated the ROM to DIAMING Ultimate xxxx I know its based off the 2.0.3 official. That also worked great. Mind you I was doing all this without a sim in the phone. Now it was time to put my SIM in the phone and get started right?
*** Side note*** My previos phone was a Sony Ericcson w810i that I also needed to flash/unlock. My SIM has worked perfectly in this phone for 2-3 years.
When I boot up the phone with my SIM in it get all the way to the Windows Mobile Desktop when it pops up with "Network Locked, Please Enter Unlock Code," or something to that effect. I went to my ATT account website and got a PUK code that supposedly unlocks your SIM for you, however I entered it twice and it didn't work. (I was told 10 straight failure locks your SIM permanently So i dind't go any further).
Basically I'd like to know what I've done wrong, or is there something I'm not understanding. Thanks again
Your phone is locked
So you bought a phone on ebay or something and it's locked to a carrier != your carrier. Flashing the ROM/Radio will not unlock the phone. You need to get an unlocker. I think Olinex? The guy who wrote the HardSPL that you used in the first step of the tutorial sells one for a good price. Contact him. I think there is/was a sticky thread in here or the General Diamond that specifically states this and who to contact.
Hi,
Guys i really need your help.
I' am in India and i got a T mobile vario III from a local place. It was unlocked and was running on WM 6.0. I wanted to upgrade it to WM 6.1 and its similar to TyTynII in India so i googled for a serial number and hard flashed the rom with the TyTynII WM 6.1 Rom. I have a UK mobile and it every time i insert a sim card from Airtel, hutch or spice asks me to insert sim card. The serial number of this device is HT816GB03362 . This is the phone's official link: http://www.tm-phonedownloads.com/sd_vario3.html.
I had problems with sound which was fixed by flashing a base Rom of kaiser and then flashing with tmobile WM 6.0 however the sim card doesnt get detected. I took it to HTC local service center and they were not able to figure it out.
I tried all the sim unlocks available in HTC but i dont know which radio is compatible with these providers.
I have a couple of websites which offer tmobile unlocking eg: http://www.gsmliberty.net/shop/tmobile-vario-iii-instant-remote-unlock-p-1520.html i dont know if it will work
Changes: Everything is default and sim card is not getting detected
The screen comes with "Smart mobility" whenever i turn on the device instead of "Tmobile"
Every other function works and it has hardspl 1.0 oilmod installed
I also tried to flash with the original tmobile 6.1 ROM on this device but the sound doesnt work
If anyone can point me to the right direction or let me know how to get this fixed i will be greatful
