Guys i really need your help.
I' am in India and i got a T mobile vario III from a local place. It was unlocked and was running on WM 6.0. I wanted to upgrade it to WM 6.1 and its similar to TyTynII in India so i googled for a serial number and hard flashed the rom with the TyTynII WM 6.1 Rom. I have a UK mobile and it every time i insert a sim card from Airtel, hutch or spice asks me to insert sim card. The serial number of this device is HT816GB03362 . I had problems with sound which was fixed by flashing a base Rom of kaiser and then flashing with tmobile WM 6.0 however the sim card doesnt get detected. I took it to HTC local service center and they were not able to figure it out.
I tried all the sim unlocks available in HTC but i dont know which radio is compatible with these providers.

Changes: Everything is default and sim card is not getting detected
The screen comes with "Smart mobility" whenever i turn on the device instead of "Tmobile"
Every other function works and it has hardspl 1.0 oilmod installed
I also tried to flash with the original tmobile 6.1 ROM on this device but the sound doesnt work
If anyone can point me to the right direction or let me know how to get this fixed i will be greatful

Easy to do it.
Download the Tmobile ROM from the Tmobile site or this forum's FTP. Flash it. I have used flashed my 8125 with the Tmobile ROM so that my friend could use it for a week and the 8125 actually works better with the Tmobile ROM.
I have a second t-mobile dash, it used to be a brick. Someone messed it up.
Luckly found a way to manully put it in bootloader 3 color mode (holding the camera button for 3-4 seconds and hit the power button), then downloaded the latesest WM6 rom from T-Mobile 1.22.531.4. Flushed succefully, rebooted and the PC part of the phone now works perfectly.
Big problem is that it can not find the T-mobile phone network. That part just keep searching... No network. Testing by plugging in a cingular sim card. Prompt me for sim unlock code. So I guess the sim slot is at least working and it's reading the sim card. Used other perople's sim card, still not working(of course the sim card still work, plugging into my old samsung phone).
The radio version is now 4.1.13.34_02.79.90 . It's way different from my other dash...I am suspecting it to be the cause. WHAT RADIO VERSION HAVE YOU GUYS GOT?
Any idea how to fix it? try with changing the radio version may be?

Can a few people just tell me what radio version are you on?
I was wondering, would a stolen phone be locked by the carrier so that the phone can't detect network?
This item is bought through ebay so i don't know what the previous guy was up to..

no, this radio upgrade is no good. do not even bother..
I suggest that you flash original T-Mobile firmware to this handset. Be that WM5 or WM6 and see how you go.
my Excalibur is HTC S620, radio version: 2.63

SecureGSM : Do you mean the ROM for the whole WM6 software (which I have already flushed.. twice). Or a firmware like a computer bios? If there is a firmware please point me to the right direction I'll definately want to put it in.

Hi,
I was referring to the original WM5 T-Mobile ROM. You might have a better chance with it.
Radio version 4.1.13.34_02.79.90 is provided in the WM6 upgrade from T-mobile.
I've just tried updating my O2 Orbit ROM to Black&Bluev3 and now can't use it on the O2 network. The SIM is working fine at the moment in my old Hermes
everything seemed to have gone fine, (I ran USPL first) but after restarting the phone won't recognise the sim - before I even had a chance to enter the pin 3 times it reported that it required the unlocking code, and then refused to accept the unlocking code once I'd got that.
So now I've got a very sleek PDA, but no phone Any idea where I can get an O2 ROM from as I can't see it listed in the Artemis list, and am I looking for a ROM or extended ROM (what is the difference anyway?)

Question as I have O2 orbit too and uk based.
have you tried reflashing phone not forgetting to do the USPL again first.
I had a problem where mine seemed to freeze up when I upgraded one of our and by doing this it worked fine.
worth a try what have you got to loose.
If all else fails they claim that O2 uk are goinmg to release this month but thats a way off.
Try the reinsall. BUT DONT FORGET USPL first
Hmmm.... false alarm methinks - after an hour or so the same unblocking message came up on the vario - I swapped it back and it worked first time in the new ROM imaged Orbit - so it was probably a SIM issue. BTW it seems there are no UK ROM images available for O2...
Yes there are uk o2 roms - see stickies in artemis upgrading and artemis mobile 6 forums.
you've got to laugh - why can't they just release it into tehpublic domain in the first place - it's not like anybody is going to CHOOSE and O2 ROM unless it's for a bet....

the thread with the how to seems broken at the moment no pictures, but trying to install the kavanna 6.1 rom after pressing the centre button I get the white screen then my handset disconnects from PC and am unable to proceed with the update get connection error 260 am using win vista ultimate if that makes any difference with latest version of the mobile device centre.

Thanks managed to sort it but now my sim is invalid I have 3uk sim but the phone is not recognising it although I have tried a t-mob uk sim and it is ok is it possible to get this phone to work with 3 uk
you'd have to get your excalibur sim unlocked.
you can either go to imei-check or go to the sim unlock thread by jockyw2001 and he will sim unlock it for a nominal fee
The 3 sim is the only one that does not work, t-mob,o2 vodafone all ok just the 3 sim in coming up as not valid.

and now i want to upgrade for ROM update to window mobile 6.5
i have doubt that " if i upgrade to new rom version , should i again go for my sim unlocker"

If your phone is cdma then make sure you use a cdma rom which can be found here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/cdma-tp2-upgrades/
With the sim unlocker it all really depends. I have a sprint tp2 running on at&t and i normally flash the radio unlocker whenever i task 29 before a flash. It seems that if i don't do that then the unlocker doesn't seem to work all the time.

hi i have a tilt 2 sim unlocked, and i just upgraded the rom to the at&t last release. i feared i was going to lost the sim unlock, but to my surprise, it was untouched, im now running it smoothly. only now i need to config the data plan back, as this config was erased. any help with that? my carrier is telcel from mexico
