Ok so off recent reading it seems that many people that have followed the steps in "Make your X01HT a WM6 Device (for Gaijins)" have unstable devices. Please complete this poll, and if you have a stable (one or less crash a week) please tell us how. It seem that many people here are Stuggling to get a stable WM6 that supports Japanese.
My Black Majik ROM and every other ROM before it crashes 4 or more times a day!
to stop crashing cook in Japanese support??
look at this (from Make youe x01ht a wm6 device) from my last post there.
I wish somebody could figure this out. Anyway, at the moment, the cooked lvsw with built in Japanese support works best. Although it is a little slow. It has not crashed for 2 days solid -- no matter how much I have thrashed it. Every single other English rom crashes.
Therefore, it is possible to make a stable wm6 with Japanese support -- just how!
-----------------
Yep I installed the Japanese input enabled version of LVSW. Some things I noticed were that it was modified to install the Japanese stuff (including character input, mslite, fonts, x02ht setting for softbank Japan, etc) following flashing, i.e installed these setting automactially from the extended rom. Now, I am wondering why the thing is so stable. It has not crashed ONCE in the 24 hours I have been trying to crash it.
Funny because every single other English WM6 rom, including the same version of the LVSW rom I have installed have all had terrible problems with random crashing etc; the only difference being that I followed instructions from the beginning of this thread to install the Japanese.
My question: how do we set up English roms so that they automatically install Japanese stuff (including x01ht settings for Japan) from extended rom following flashing?
Very strange that doing it this was could make it so stable. Unless of course, there are newer/more stable versions of a lot of the software links that appear in the original thread?
Ideas please! Would like to solve this enigma.
tora201, where do you download the Japanese input enabled version of LVSW ? I'm really tired of frequent crash and would like to have a really stable ROM.

And, yeah, it is extremely stable. I have installed the HTC home plugin thing as well as the new touch dialer, etc. No problems at all! Cheers mate.
I use LVSW 3.30.3 English ROM with LetsJapan and JapaneseIME (both by Asukal) installed...
Generally, phone seems stable, but then after switching to any of Japanese IMEs (Tegaki, Romaji...) trouble starts... Worst problem is that sometimes SMS and MMS freezes the phone, for example, on message reception. It is even worse by the fact the incoming message is then lost forever!
For some people, switching to Japanese input everyday is essential, and of course, messaging too... these two things seems to clash on all ROMs (some seems to be much more stable than the others).
What we need here is more stable Japanese font & input method package to do things properly... We need Asukal

Thanks, but the link seems not working, could you post again ?
Stable CJK system
My experience :
1. Install Asukal's echinaNo5a to support Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
CJ fonts are included.
1.1 move&over write /Temp/wince.nls to /Windows
1.2 delete the startup menu's "usemynls?".
2. Install A4&Hanwan to input Chinese input and Atok to input Japanese.
3. Install other stuffs: Genocide Today, KPCapt, MMSLite265, JJ Pimp My Black 0.2,SQLCE 2.0, AozoraKoneko
I am using Elf_Edition_v2.1 based on LSVW 0519 ROM switching from Black 3.0.1.
It usually works several days for me and surely randomly locks too, but is mostly stable one ever
If anyone teaches me how to cook a ROM, I can make it.
I've tried it and it seems that it is quite stable, but I can't connect to the Internet via GRPS/3G. I've tried to delete the Softbank setting but it didn't seem to work.

here you go! Just the nbh file.
Thanks for your replies and votes. Many others here seem to have crashing/freezing problems, just wondering why you all (except me and one other) said that your PDA is stable?
My Black Majik ROM has been better recently, but not what I call stable, recent crashes:
Thurs-0
Fri-4
Sat-0
Sun-0
but I don't know why.
I expect a phone to be completely stable, not mostly stable, not like old versions of Windows, like XP very rarely crashes, sure programs crash but I think it is a major programing/design error when the OS fails and the only way out is a reset.
People have all sorts of problems, quite often linked to the software they install(in this case Japanese support software), but I don't see how this software stops the OS from working, if there is a problem with SPB mobile or any other sotware then that software only should crash within the OS and leave everthing else alone, not take down the whole system, unbelievable!
pre-cook Japanese into the external rom in wm6 english??

Mate, here is a sort of copy of my post in the "Make your X01HT a WM6 Device (for Gaijins)" (in wm6 hermes forum).
I have not heard anything back about my inquires, so I am posting it here with a few changes/comments. Note, I am using a x01ht and live in Japan, so I am using the softbank network.
I had the same problem as many others: when using WM6 (An English version) with Japanese language cabs/MMSlite etc installed AFTERWARDS using the guides on this board, they ALL crash, in one way or other.
This is strange because The Samurai build (beta 1/2) (Japanese cooked rom) worked perfectly! What is going on here? I wish there was away to convert it to English (I mean the GUI only). Then I would be in PDA heaven.
Overall, I have found that all Japanese language wm6 roms have worked better than with English ones installed with Japanese input/language support. Anway reasons/ideas why this would be would be most welcome......
Some typical crashes with English WM6 builds with Japanese language/fonts/mmslite 2.65 or 2.75 installed aftterward:
- MSSlite crashes A LOT (the whole thing freezes, then upon re-set, half the mail in the inbox is gone -- or the MSSlite programme itself is gone and needs a reinstall).
-crashes A LOT using explorer. No reason at all. Again, it just freezes. Freezes more with wifi.
-sometimes crashed on the comm manager screens, or in settings.
The point is, the thing crashes A LOT under WM6 with Japanese support installed later, following any of the guides here.
Anyway, in the end I went with Hermes_WWE_3.30.3.3_4_X01XT (Latest LVSW wm6 in English with Japanese support cooked in to install settings upon first boot via the external rom)
http://rapidshare.com/files/39953635/Hermes_WWE_3.30.3.zip
It works fine. Not one crash over a week! And believe me, I have tried to crash the thing. I even installed the touch HTC plugins.
Basically, the difference between this and other wm6 roms is that all the Japanese support was cooked in to install via the external rom upon the first boot. So, my question is:
Since somebody (A Japanese guy) made this, it should be possible to make a similar Black version (for example) with built in Japanese language/mms/softbank settings set up to install automatically via the external rom upon first boot. Anybody know how to do this?
If we can do this, or somebody post a guide, it would seem to solve all our problems.
I'm guessing that maybe we take a copy of the Ext_ROM from the one you're using, install another English ROM, and then copy the EXT_ROM over, and hard reset it to kickstart the auto setup process. What do you think?
I tried it in Black Majik, and had to run the Ext_ROM manually, but nothing changed, even after a reset! No connection, fonts, nothing!
You've got to edit a file in the Windows directory to enable it, I see. When I get time I'll have a go...

Would that work?? Oh, my phone is locked so I can't do that! :-( its the post April softbank one. Damn you softbank! Can somebody else try that??
****! This ROM is Magic!! How made it?
Only problem is that it's slow, if compared with Black. Can anybody cook a black ROM with this incredible Softbank support?
Please!!!!!

I checked the ROM carefully ... All the Japanese support is cooked into the ROM, not via Extended ROM.
Or that boy cook new ROM, or we can't do anything. Anyway ... I think that it's extremely slow for be WM6.
Saludos
Great! Kind of.
It is good to know that I am not the only person who has had chronic trouble with installing Japanese support in WM6. I have tried quite a few ROMs, Black 2.5 through Dymond, as well as a few LVSW, and have had random lock-ups and the SOD on all of them. I keep going back to my Japanese WM5 ROM for the stability. I've got a three-day weekend coming and will report back after flashing Hermes_WWE_3.30.3.3_4_X01XT with anything I find out about this baked-in Japanese support ROM.
To sesaru, I have noticed that LVSW is routinely slower than Black - even without any Japanese support issues.
the rom is slow, but it is completely stable. I wonder how it was made? It certainly shows it CAN BE DONE. I have not had a single lock-up since I installed it. So.... something going on here. Nobody can figure it out? Oh, and for the record, it installed all of the Japanese stuff from the external rom upon first boot (the 3 second thing). So, I wonder why does Japanese work without crashes if installed automactially upon first boot via external rom??

I've been searching the forum all over, cause i'm pretty sure i saw someone else report about this too somewhere on this forum, but i can't find it anywhere anymore... Here's the horrific problem...:
With WM6 (Official Dopod SEA, no SPL) i already encountered two times the horrifying message "Password Incorrect" when i want to login again after a reboot.... No matter how many times i fill in the CORRECT password (ie. Device-PIN), it just keeps me out... This is going to be the second time in 3 days i'm gonna have to do a hard reset (i guess it's time for a backup program), and this has pissed me off completely...
I don't dare using a PIN anymore now... cause it's my only (working) phone right now...and i rely on it.
These lockups happened everytime i made a change to the device like installing an appplication or tweaking something in the registry. After the reboot i'm locked out...
Anyone any ideas what causes this, and how to prevent/fix it ?
I have the same problem.
Just did ANOTHER hard reset. And the problem is gone. I'm still investigating.
Feeling that it might have to do with the programs being installed.
I have the same ROM as you.
Keep posting.

I'm still busy 'rebuilding' this sucker... But as for now can you confirm it didn't happen again even after editing something in registry or installing an app ? That's when it happened to me everytime (while the PIN was enabled during this)...
And the weird thing is that i'm running exactly the identical software-setup as on previous ROM's... like mUn's WM6, LVSW's, original WM5, GPS WM5 and then some... But never ever i had this problem before... i'm thinking more something like bug in new WM6, or maybe the HTC taskman...?
Edit: i added SpbBackup to todays setup....so hopefully when it happens again, i can recover of it more quickly... Also fiddled around the reg until i made sure i did ALL tweaks i want... I'll wait a few days with a PIN this time...
Locked out
Same thing with me, pin disabled until further developments of this weird bug.
I can confirm this bug. Happening to my friend with the latest PDAVIEt's ROM based on DPOD WM6 official.
When u flash your ROM and a PIN was setted, you'll be stuck at the boot with a message that tells you : Your mother F* password isn't correct...try again...and Again .. and again...
the only Sollution is to reflash.
Weired, not !!!!
I'm tired on updating & downgrading.
I'll cook my own ROM now
Ok...let's start summing up all that software in our devices... here i go for mine:

I wonder if this is related to the problem with the DOPOD ROM (and its derivatives) changing the Device Code in TomTom Navigator? It doesn't happen with any other ROM, and has caused problems with TomTom refusing to issue a new activation code. The only solution to that is to regress the ROM to WM5, or flash a non-DOPOD one.
I don't see at all what TomTom has to do with the specific issue in this thread...
WM6 password bug
It is a known issue and it was WM6 bug. Was reported to MS. With PS turn on, when you take out the battery, WM6 will forget the password. Therefore cannot turn on.

Probably nothing, but if the DOPOD ROM seems to be misinterpreting password information, it could be the same bug that misinterprets the Devcie Code. Strange thya both only seem to be occuring with DOPOD derivatives.

Well, i think this has a lot more to do with the fact that you changed the OS image... Although i cannot explain why the cooked MW6 versions do not display this behaviour...

Correct! Taking out the battery also forces a reboot... So, every reboot makes it 'forget' the password so it seems...
Incredibly that M$ even dared to release this to OEM's....and even worse: they haven't fixed it yet!!!
Come to think of it....: i never had this issue with one of the cooked WM6 ROM's (though you get batterydrain problems and slower performance in return).... That's really strange...
Could it have something to doe with the fact that the Dopod ROM has "HTC_P3600i" in the 'About' screen ? (meaning it's for some forthcoming hardware, and NOT the standard P3600 ?)
I've got the same problem too and have tried several ROMS with the same problem. PdaViet 4.00.5, Gullum, etc with the same problem. Problem is, I cannot deal without a PIN as my company exchange server enforces a policy to set a PIN. I've gone back to WM5 now which is very very stable until a solution is found.

Actually I'm using a modified PDAVIET Rom, but I didn't have any i in my about screen when I was using the official dopod.
I'm removing my battery now to have a cold start... I don't have any pin or password problem, even if I'm using a pin protected sim and a pin protected device (two pins at startup)
Ciao
wm6 password bug?
i've got the same problem, with an e-ten x500+....
Very strange
I just want to tell you that I never had this problem (which would be terrible for me, cause using Exchange Server you must enter a password unless you do a special registry hack).
I used mun_rus WM6 ROM and I am using Bepes German WM6 ROM and I never had any problems with the password... very strange.
*Bump*
So it seems to be narrowed down to pretty much all official WM6 rom's, but has anyone found out yet if there's a way to fix this ? Does M$ know ? Have any of the cooks here found what the difference between the WM builds is, that causes this terrible issue ?
I'm still on the Dopod WM6 rom, but my device is totally unprotected now.... unacceptable... (apart from having to deal with me to get your hands on my Trin)
I've been on the PVIET 10 rom for a week with PIN code activated without any problems.
Today I decided to change the dialpad, and as soon as that happens, after a reset, I can no longer enter my PIN.
Anyone having the similar problem?
Me too
I was PDAViet for over a week, I had issues with TOMTOM, when I re-installed and did a soft reset I got the device code error. I had no choice but to do a hard reset and start over again. I was using Ausdim prior to this for ages and never had this problem.
I meet the same problem with rom Faman 3.1 Fr
I read somwhere : a bug report about this is present on the Microsoft website. It is a know issue from Microsoft WM6.
Hi all
I've taken a good long read throughout this Upgrade to WM6 subforum, I like the idea of it a lot and want to go ahead and do it, but having never re-flashed a PDA Phone before (I've done my PSP lots of times tho but thats easy in relation) I think its very difficult to find anywhere to even begin from!
Can anybody just give me a total-overall-topdown-summary-breakdown of the steps I need to perform on a fresh T-Mobile MDA Vario II. Doesn't have to be in detail, just all the basic steps required.
The forums, whilst being great for regulars seems to just confuse me the more I read them because of all the new issues raised and the individual cases on different vendor models of the Hermes.
My phone isnt a new Vario II, but I've done nothing to it except install apps, and it is showing REALLY old bootloader (I think 1.04) and radio versions (cant remember) in the system information. I'm presuming it'll require a radio upgrade at the least.
I would really appreciate a summary of everything and I think all newbies would benefit a lot.
Specific areas of confusion and concern -
-I would like to be able to grab the existing memory contents as an image off the phone just in case I choose to return to WM5 in future, and have a way of easily restoring it with no fuss. Exactly like ghosting a PC will return the whole OS, and all files and apps. Any recommendations how?
-I cant choose which custom third party WM6 ROM to use or just use HTCs official one if I should.
-I dont know if I'll still be able to use TomTom Navigator and some games plus I'm running TCPMP with the YouTube FlashVideoBundle. Will this still work?
-Should I upgrade the radio and bootloader before thinking about moving to WM6? Is there any other areas I should be flashing/rejigging before upgrading? Eg whats this about the ExtRom and gaining more space (obviously good)?
-The vendor lock on the firmware concerns me. Is there one on the UK T-Mobile MDA Vario II? Also about what I read somewhere about how disabling the lock with one of your tools might brick the phone (or am I getting confused somewhere along the line).
-As the community moves on with further developments, the divide between n00bism (me) and l33t (you) increases - case in point - kitchens??? I'm not saying though that it shouldn't happen!
Many thanks for everybodys work.

Whoa, subject hijack...
...oh well, not to worry.
Anyway, in response to gwtx2, I might want to go back because some little thing I need might not work, and I might require some T-Mobile support, I'm sure they'll not touch a phone thats been reflashed with unofficial fw.
Also T-Mobile might release an official WM6 Hermes upgrade too.
Besides, have you never heard of this 'take backups = a good thing' thing?
Besides, it must be relatively easy, how else would all these custom hermes firmwares be built from?
How do these guys do it?

Many thanks for pointing me towards MrVanx's Hermes Guide site.
Are you sure its fine to be using the VP3G firmware for my phone given it was derived from and is in general use with a US model AT&T 8525 (A hermes 100)?
My phone is a UK model T-Mobile MDA Vario II (A hermes 300)? Thats three differences I see (Country, operator firmware, hardware revision)!
Although MrVanx guide says the Vario II is suitable on the first page, I'm thinking its worth going for a different ROM derived from the Vario II for luck.
If I choose to go with another that was derived from the HTC official one, I'm presuming the general instructions are the same then?
eg.
#1 take down settings and xfer files.
#2 reflash HardSPL bootloader
#3 reflash radio version
#4 reflash ROM.
#5 restore settings & apps.
Am I right?
Many thanks again.
Done some stuff!
Hi all again.
Right, I've been perhaps too brave for my own good, but it turned out well!
I've installed HardSPL 2.10.Olipro on my phone, plus I've gone the whole hog and picked a very up to date radio version 1.54.00.10, I think it was originally ripped from a french firmware, I figured a Euro fw would be best suited for my UK model Hermes.
I was right I think - I now see a good fast T-Mobile home webpage, and sites load pretty good once it finds it. I also tried YouTube on TCPMP player, that seems quicker but I couldn't be totally sure.
One point I should note - When running the RUUWrapper app, AutoDetect flashed up a YES NO question on the PDA screen to accept running the program. Problem is I didn't catch it in time, so instead it threw up an autodetect error. Now after closing RUUWrapper and re-running it, it never throws up the YES NO question any more in any radio flasher (even after rebooting the PDA and the PC)! Instead I had to choose the HardSPL tickbox and the SPL 2.02/2.10 fourth option down, to continue. Slightly concerning but it worked.
Now all I need to do is up to a WM6 firmware when I choose one, it's gone well so far so my luck is bound to change!
QUESTION PLEASE-
Does anybody know the T-Mobile UK 3G Cellular Line access point password? I know the username but would need to fill in the pwd. The username is t-mobile but the pwd is ****** and wont copy paste of course! Its in the bit where you see the access point address - general.t-mobile.uk.
Many thanks to all for helping me this far.

The general answer to the first part is it doesn't really matter which provider gave you your Hermes as long as it is one. (Actually, there are some differences between Hermes models but honestly don't worry about that for now.)
Don't worry about going for a ROM that's derived from T-Mob. Basically, all the different network providers get given the latest working versions of Windows Mobile from time to time for them to either check and have a play with or to customise and release as an upgrade or in the newest issues of their phones (or as a download for current users).
My Hermes is Orange UK (i.e. SPV M3100) but I've ended up at various times having WM6 versions derived rom AT&T, T-MOb, HTC et al. The only thing that matters is that it's Windows Mobile for the Hermes.
As to going back to WM5, I think it's worth having the original ROM about. If you search around the Hermes Wiki (I'd do it but it's late and I honestly can't be bothered, soz!) you'll find a list of original ROMs available for download. Note your current version and go download it so it's there ready for you to pit back on should you ever want to. (Warranty-claim time can be a good time for that.)
I'd suggest the following as a routine, myself:
1. Note down any details you might need later such as ROM version etc. Anything that comes up briefly after soft-reset or in Device Info and About in settings and any network setting for acessing GPRS or 3G etc.
2. Download the OliPro bootloader and install. The reason for this is to protect yourself as much as possible against problems.*
3. Have a gander at all the current cooked ROMs. I'd advise initially going for a lightish version as you can always add to it with cab files for your preferred extra bits.
4. Don't go for the Kitchens yet. It's best to mess with installing ROMs before trying to make one. The people eho run the kitchen threads, and the people who wrote the tools they use, have all worked very hard on making it possible for people who don't know much to make their own version of WM6 easily. It's easy but do it later.
5. Radio is absolutely optional and in most cases not very unnecessary. Like everyone else, I always want the latest of everything just in case there's a tiny, incremental improvement but if you have no problems with reception or internet access then worry about that last, if ever. Not every radio version is 'better' than the previous. The most recent version always has the highest version number obviously, but new versions are often brought out to deal with issues in a particular geographical area (usually country-specific AND network-specific, though it may or may not be better for other users elsewhere). The latest version of radio may be better for you but it might be worse and it might stop your internet of wifi working or something. Leave it for now if you have no issues with any kind of radio-related functions.
6. Installing your apps and settings is obviously something you'll do when the phone itself is done.
*There is another BRILLIANT touch to make sure you're extra super-safe and it's particularly easy: follow this link: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_SDCardFlashing . Basically, if you keep a copy of the a ROM image (renamed to HERIMG.nbh) on your microSD card (check the wiki item for specifics) then you can flash your phone at the touch of a button (well, two butons) from there in an emergency. even if your house loses ekectrical power during the flashing process whilst it's connectedto your PC and your Hermes won't even THINK of booting with half an OS flashed to it, you can very nearly always restore the ROM by flashing from the card.
It's all dead simple one you get into it, it's just a tad worrying before you start to take a scalpel to a new toy you just paid good money for.
You'll be fine mate.
Aha! Your success story must've appeared whilst I was busy typing!
Nice one. Ah well!
WOOOHOOO! I'm on WM6!!!
Many thanks chunkymunky for all your comments, its nice to know some fellow brits are on here too. Which phone do you have?
Its also nice to know that any hermes ROM will work on my phone, and I'm definitely going to have a go at this SD card reflash at some point now I'm gaining confidence in reflashing. Having said that, I have an old HTC Blue Angel (Orange SPV something) and that used to occasionally crash and do a full hard reset, erasing everything. My hermes has never done that so SD reflashing could be moot.
As it goes I'd like to share my experiences - late last night I flashed my Vario II with Fun_Keys 1.5.2 thats based on the 3.62 WM6 ROM. It reflashed fine, and I am utterly over the moon!!!! My phone has been reborn into something far better, faster in lots of areas. T-Mobile UK be damned for not releasing an official WM6 upgrade (yet) because WM6 is noticeably faster, looks really great with the shiny black theme. etc etc etc.
And because of all the work the ROM authors have done, I now get full on HSDPA access on my phone, I get the H icon on the top bar and everything! I know the H Icon being present now doesnt mean that I didn't get HSDPA before on my original WM5 firmware, but I'm pretty sure it is muchos faster.
Besides, a while back, a guy on T-Mobile UK tech support said I'd only get HSDPA when using my phone as a modem for a laptop, not via PocketIE on the phone itself. That made me feel I'd been a bit ripped off.
Oh and TCPMP with FlashVideoBundle works fine too and the phone downs YT Videos really quickly. I don't even have a serious problem with the ATI Imageon stuffs.
I'd like to mention that after a good while using radio versio 1.54.00.10 that it works fantastically on a UK T-Mobile MDA Vario II. HSDPA access included. Not unexpected since it was on 1.05.05.00!!!
Also TomTom works fine with two different bluetooth GPS receivers I have. WM6 has granted me access to the 'External GPS' option in the control panel I was missing originally (bloody operator firmware!) - as a result Google Maps can now use my GPS too!!!
As a techie by profession, I'm also loving all the extra tools Fun_Keys put on, like the advanced configuration tool, the task manager, regedit etc.
Countless other advantages I've gained has basically brought my phone a new lease of life, now I definitely dont plan to upgrade to a newer phone any time soon.
Who would have thought such a simple thing would bring such happiness!
The only disappointment was with having to up to ActiveSync 4.5 which killed my partnerships! No biggie, and nothing to do with WM6.
a big Thank You to the XDA Developers forum in general for your tireless efforts.

every time i tried to update the rom or radio i've got the
260 error...why is that?...i have a htc mda basic t-mobile...and its sim locked to austria....can somebody tell me how to unlock it?
Hi all....
1st.. dont flash any full stock ROM cause it includes SPL and radio those (most important radio) are the first thing to brick a device...
2nd.. many times i flash back to wm6 just to test the performance, is ok but you must to stripp the stock rom and guess what?... is hard... so i suggest if you all want to go back to wm6 use the stripped att stock rom
I'm not very good with all the technical stuff, just barely manage to flash a ROM from the microSD card (I think the o2-trion model HRM100 doesn't have a bootloader over USB or something) and install some apps ..I've been reading around for 2-3 years, following the developments for first my old Wizard and then my xda-trion..
I've tried a couple of ROMs for the hermes, using CRCs latest stable one (v10.2 was it?)..it's been pretty stable, but somewhat slow to boot (splash-screens) and not so responsive..and transcriber, or "draw" mode doesn't work..
and always have trouble because I use two languages German and English..and still couldn't really solve that..
Also, I've always wondered, why update the radio-rom? and is it possible with a HERM100 type?
Radio Rom updates are usually done for
1) improved battery life
2) improved quality based on where you live
However its strongly recommended that you dont upgrade the radio as it can totally F up your phone.
Try Binky11's 3.9 rom, ive had no issues with it and i tested it throughily (with the help of a couple of people) before it was released
I'll give that a try then, and how's the battery-life with it?
Also, what's quite important for me is that it works with German input (hardware-keyboard mainly) but also let's me write/email in English..how does that work?
im not to sure really i suppose using advanced config to set keyboard to german.
Help to get German+English dict. working simultaniously..
I've managed to get the keyboard somewhat working with that, though when typing an "ä" (ae) I have to press "dot"-"space" x-times until I get through all the "variants" of "ae" (from accented, weird other ones etc..)
Also, the predicted words and spell-checking doesn't work..
..maybe a German-Member in this forum can describe a simple process to get german and english language working? Preferably with WWE-ROMs so German users can try these great ROMs that are being cooked, and get the input/dictionarys working properly for their devices..
youd probably need a german rom then.

you can use the german input cab:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305811
Then you will get an additional german softkeyboard and the wordcompletion will be german. Also the umlauts on the hardkeyboard will work as with the german roms.
Before installing the input-cab you have to install the sip-change cab:

Hi All !!
First - Thanks alot for this forum! it's the BEST!
I'm currently using PDACornerPro.V27 on my TyTN. but the same error happend with Schaps, Corner v20 and another TouchFLO rom.
Whenever I install Paragon LENG hebrew support on my device it just disables any way of accessing the Phone Dialer and the Contacts. Removing it doesn't work either, once installed - it f#$ks it up for good.
I've tried searching the registry with no luck whatsoever...
Can any of you Hermes Gurus help me out here?
Thanks!

don't use the LENG hebrew,in addition to the problems u describe, its doesnt support the hardware keyboard of tytn.
personally this is what i do:
1.install Hebcert.cab from orange extended rom(attached below)
2.install 180407_HebrewTyTN.cab but DONT restart when prompted.
3.goto Progs. Lang setting(hagdarot safa 3 letters icon alef bet gimel) change the upper bar from the top option to buttom(it suppose to say interface lang. and the upper is hebrew the other is english but you cant c before reset)
4.now press (x) to reset
//////note: u dont have contacts hebrew browsing in the normal contact manager,
so use pocketCM with the setting.ini file i attached(just put in the pcm folder in progam files
//////also u dont have smart dialling for hebrew, so use this one jimmy98 made for us its works great with htc touch dialer also attached below(u can use different skin with hebrew letters).

Thank you so much!
haven't tried it yet since it requires me to flash a new rom, I'll get to it this weekend.
anyhow, thanks alot, it's nice to have a supporting community.
bekef dude
u know u can hard-reset right? that way u dont have to flash anew rom
but if u feel like changing anyways i recommend this ones:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428597
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=439973
i use the last one cause its lighter but if u dont feel like working much go with the first it has everything plus youtube and google maps etc.
Yeah, I know I can Hard Reset.. but I've been meaning to change to a new rom for sometime now, and Hard Reset will make me install everything all over again so I used the opportunity to flash.
I have a problem with the hebrew, Maybe you came across it too - after installing the hebrew, When I press the power button the device goes to standby and when I press the power again it doesn't get out of it until I soft reset it...
It renders the device quite useless..
P.S I've flashed the device with the rom u've recommended. it's reallllly fast.
Tytn Doesnt wake up
its a known issue hate it when that happens
you can read more here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=273836
it happened to me a few times i still havent figuered out why,
but thebest solution is to change the rom,
try falshing another rom i'm working with the lighter one ive posted and it works smooth havent tried the other so i guess thats the one you flashed.
good luck
No luck... so far I've tried with 4 different ROMs and didn't succeed in any attempt, I've tried both of the ROMs you've recommended, PdaCorner v.27 RBSN 3G and CRC dev 14.1 beta... as I said, The hebrew installs fine but once the device goes to standby/power saving it just dies...
I've tried doing what the post you've ref'd me to offered - disabling the advance network features on the pc-usb connection and removing some addons like the Voice-Commander... no luck either... been at it all night
is it possible that HebCert.cab or 180407_HebrewTyTN.cab you've attached are not of the right version?
The Hebrew is WAAAAAAY better than Paragon's LENG (as long as the device stays on) that doesn't even let me use Opera past ver8.6, and I'd really hate to give it up.
Please advise..
the version of the hebrew is from my phone but is identical to the hebrew cabs from other orange tytn phones.
+iv'e dumped my ext.rom like a year ago then my phone broke (physicly) just last week and
the new tytn orange gave me had the same exact cabs for hebrew
(with almost the same rom newer version but wm5 uglyass green lame-o)
so that's not it for sure..
++it happened to me as well with several roms with the same hebrew cabs
for no apparent reason but now it works just fine.
+++u can always go back (assuming u backedup)to the original orange rom
that came with your tytn and dump the hebrew cabs from your ext.rom though it will be a waste of time.
one thing i did that help with the PDAcorner's older version with this problem was to update the HARD-SPL version to 2.3
..so check your spl version by reseting to the bootloader
(reset while holding the power button and the top left ok button)
if its lower than 1.40 theres a big chance an update would do the job..
http://www.mrvanx.org/thg/
update to 2.1 or to the latest then reflash i suggest to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=439973
cause we know it works for sure.
+don't install nothing not even the hebrew..check if the device wakes then install ONLY the hebcert(btw:u install this first always) and main file but change the interface language before reset so it wont boot with hebrew menus even once..post back if the problem presists.. good luck
I Refuse to give up!!
Well, I did everything you offered, bit by bit -
1. Updated to HardSPL 2.1
2. Flashed to HTC_HERMES_S64_WM_6.1_TouchFlo2D_UC_V5_WWE_12.11.2008
3. Did an ON and OFF tests, few times - after power off, soft reset eg.. (ps I found out that Soft Reset from the os doesn't work either after the hebrew installation - so I checked that too) - all worked fine.
4. I've installed the HebCert.cab and then the main file.
5. changed the interface language to english.
6. Reset and voila... same bug all over again
I thought maybe it had something to do with installing the hebrew while the tytn is connected to activesync so i did all that without it being so.
got any more ideas?
# _
listen this time youll get it stright,..
i think its all cause you got the WRONG rom..
i saw you wrote "HTC_HERMES_S64_WM_6.1_TouchFlo2D_UC_V5_WWE_12.11.2 008" rom while i was talking about:
27/10/2008 ROM 3.62.502.20 (Manila2D) V.20 Build 20921 by PhamQuang
http://rapidshare.com/files/157947939/HERMES_WWE_3.62.502.20_B20921_Manila2D.rar as the lighter rom installed
anyways i felt kinda guilty cause i recommended it (though i told you i havent tested it but i guess you didnt understand to which one i was refferin)
so i flashed the rom you were talking about just to check
and suprise suprise my tytn didnt wake same as yours..
reflashed back to 27/10/2008 ROM 3.62.502.20 (Manila2D) V.20 Build 20921 by PhamQuang(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=439973)
and TA-DA works like a charm..
so i would suggest to repeat the same stages as from your last message only this time with the right one
good luck buddy im sure this time itll work
btw the password for the file ishamQuang
If I haven't said it so far - thank you ever so much for your time and effort.
Well, I did write the name of that rom but I've tried both roms on the same process...
I did, however, manage to get some progress on another angle - I've updated my radio version (was the only thing we didn't cover) and now it works with the Manila2D rom. alas, nothing else seems to be working...
I've started to install all my favorite progies (Adobe Reader LE, PocketRAR, SPB Insight, JBED, Opera Mobile, Opera Mini, etc...) and everytime the darn phone hangs on one of the installation and just DIES... only hard reset can revive it...
I'm gonna start from scratch - tomorrow I'm gonna take a naked rom and start building on top of it... I must be doing something wrong. only good indication is that the phone can get in and out of standby WITH the your hebrew version - so I know the hebrew is ok.
I'll go thru with it tomorrow and keep you posted.
again, I really appreciate your efforts to help. thanks.
your very welcome.. to be honest its just cause were both israellis and also because i went through this crap myself but no one here could really help me i had to solve it myself..
i DID forget to tell you the first thing i did to the phone was to SUPERCID unlock it:
http://pof.eslack.org/hermes-unlocker/http://pof.eslack.org/hermes-unlocker/
try it if you havent already, mayb the protection is whats causin all the freezes. plus its unlocks the sim bull****.
GL again
BTW:
you dont need to install opera for manilla2d:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2860699&postcount=4764
or use the file ive attached.
plus its better lookin htc version.
and use this as the PDF reader 100x faster than adobe:

Great (Partial) Success!!
Ok! here's what I did and some conclusions I've come to:
1. flashed CRC r14.1 Big Storage ROM.
2. Installed ALLLLLLLLLLLL of the app's I needed prior to the hebrew installation.
3. Cleared all Caches, Temps, and MRU lists etc using SKtools.
4. Clean Start the device (SR).
5. Installed the hebrew, changed interface language and Soft reset.
6. Enjoyed my new revived device!!
now the only thing that DOES go wrong is the Java emulation, I've tried all available versions of Esmertec Jave (20080222 3.1M, 20080328.31 and 20080428.2.1) Tried installing to the device and to the SD and didn't succeed. I also tried to use the Device Update feature of CRC to get the latest java version from thier repository... didn't succeed either.
The thing is, before the hebrew was installed all versions worked fine, and after that NONE did...
I also think that this piece of software is what causing the device to die!!
After I remove the java emulator the device just hangs on the boot screen.
I've flashed my device numerous times with a whole bounch of ROMs, The conclusion I came to is that the hebrew worked on MOST of the ROMS didn't have JBED pre-installaed!
I would have checked it but I'm tired from flashing and installing stuff on my device for now, maybe next month... I gave up on using OperaMini since I don't have a working java emulator currently.
Which, if any, are u using?
Thanks for all the pieces of software you've recommended, I tried the PDF reader you suggested and I like Acrobat LE 2.5 Diamond edition better.,,
Anyhow - It's working now. so as my project instructor said - if it works - don't touch it!
Thanks alot for now! I WILL try to isolate the problem and keep you posted!
I Owe you man..

Shalom,
Do you know if it works on an HTC Dual Touch with Windows Mobile 6.1 US ?
The HTC Dialer above is 2G version?
Are there any 3G version for WM 6.1?
Thanks
Yesterday I started to get problems with my HTC Touch Diamond. I flashed my device with udK Syrius HD R0 (BETA 5) and everything was going smooth, restored my contacts, my messages and tweaked WM6 a bit.
But after a soft reset to apply all changes the device welcomed me with the ordinary "You're using your device for the first time" message and I had to setup my device again. After another soft reset my device hung at the boot screen with ROM information and the "Touch Diamond" text.
All I could do now was a hard reset. But the problem didn't go away... the device kept freezing and resetting, and I had to do 2 or 3 more hard resets before I decided (actually I already had, but had to wait for the download to finish ) to flash to another ROM.
So I downloaded Vic Hybrid 2 Diamond ROM UC. Flashed and everything seem to went fine. But just as before, after a soft reset the device hung. Hard reset...
Why's this!? Is my HTC Touch Diamond broken or is there anything I'm missing? Perhaps this occur because of the ROM's is based on the firmware 1.97??
EDIT #1: sorry, wasn't meant to create this topic under "ROM Development"... Any mod, feel free to move it.
EDIT #2: Seems one more guy had this a relating problem after ROM flash (udK's ROM for that matter too): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=455335
EDIT #3: "The device is unable to boot because either you have turned off the device incorrectly or tried to install an application from untrusted source. Press SEND to reset your device or press any other button to cancel. This operation will delete all your personal data and restore the device to its factory default settings."... didn't have time to press any "SEND" button either... it continued to... guess? The setup! Entering date + time + calibrating the stylus...
*sigh*... not it happend again. Just restored all my SMS and tried to thread them again (screw that either way!), soft resetted my device... and the damn WM6 setup guide for clock, calibration showed up, and now "Installing..."
*sigh - again*
hi dude i had the same problem
i have a DIAM300 and had the olinex 1.40 hard spl with mossis rom 2.5 (ger)
i flashed mossis 2.6 which is based on 1.97 and i had those problems too, after a few softresets it makes a hardreset...then i tried olinex 1.93 thought it could be the bootloader but the problems were still there...
i tried some other roms, udk Syrius too which is fast as hell, but unfortunately the same problem here and sometimes it even didn't boot...
i made about 50 softresets, 20 hardresets, flashed bout 10 times....then i had enough, flashed the original O2 rom, flashed the original bootloader, flashed the original rom again, and now everything is allright, it's runnin, no hardresets, i tried about 20 softresets, installed software blabla....
but now i'm wondering if the problem will be there again when i start to flash
and its really annoying when u flash a rom, customize everything, everyting seems to be allright and then it makes a hardreset instead of a softreset....

Yeah, I feel the pain. Getting sickin' tired of this **** now!!!
Try this one
Hi
Whenever i have this kind of bizar issues [ also with previous devices i had before my Diamond] i did the following:
1. Flash back to original official ROM including Radio [ no need to compelrte the initial setup , just flash and go back to bootloader screen right after]
2. Flash again to the targeted cooked ROM
3. Probelm disapeared
My assumption is that for some cooked ROMs the coverage of files been flashed and replaced is not 100% and therefor we face inconsistancy issues.
Try it
my view of this
my view of this:
new roms have other architecture such as new manila new drivers etc etc (1.97)
when you "tweak" them such as manila mods wich are made for older versions this kind of problems can happen. the problem is we have to many modded roms right now. we have 1.37 roms 1.93 roms 1.94 roms (ported from raphael) 1.97 roms and so on. all of this roms you cant compare with each other.
a example: HTC Diamond Manila has no LANDSCAPE files. every rom wich has landscape support had included RAPHAEL Manila parts. no one can deny this. cause its the only device right now that offered the landscape support on manila. but looking to diamond application and software section here and the date this files were made are back in the past. this is just a example where this problem result of.

Yeah, I bet there's some issues with the new 1.97 and all the new drivers. The chefs need to get stuff straight before I'm trying any new 1.97 based ROM out again.
My issue seem to have been fixed after flashing to Shine On 2.4 Full (1.93 based!). My device now soft resets OK, and I keep all settings... well, atleast for the moment. I'll continue to soft reset every now and then to see if the problem comes back to me.
Yeah, got EXACTLY the same problem with ROMs based on Touch HD or Quartz OS built Hard SPL 1.93 And I don't use any manilla mods, prefer its original view with original tabs. All I have is some portion of software to install:
- Inesoft Cash org;
- Inesoft Address book;
- Agenda Fusion 8;
- Alreader;
- Auto keeper;
- HiCalc;
- Navitel Navigation system.
and the only "tweak-like" soft I use is Answerkeysdisabler. But having serious intentions to reach the truth I didn't install it.
When I've tried to flash syrius beta 02 AND beta 05) I got a STABLE hard reset after 3-5 reeboots. And it doesn't correspond with the quantity of soft installed, it's just resets and thats all.
When using Aztor v7 i had 99% hangup when installing my software just after HR, and it always hangs on different program installation, then, after reeboot manilla cannot start.
These are very interesting ROMs, especially I like AZTOR's pholosofy, but... couldn't manage to give it a try
Tried SwiftBL's, Dutty's, Bepe's ROMS - all smooth and fine. And the STABLEST FOR ME was the old bElite 0,99d. NO issues at all! Now i'm usind Dutty's 3,4 in general it's stable and ok, but with some minor issues. Would be really nice to have issue-free ROM based on new versions of software.
