My eyes are no longer able to see small print.
I need a Dialpad skin that has larger buttons.
I also need explicit direction on how to find and remove the Cingular 8525 Hermes dialpad that came with the phone and how to install the new dialpad.
This information will be helpful to several viewers, as I can tell from searching and reading the previous posts.
Thanks to all!

I posted this awhile back in the russian rom thread but i didn't get much of a response.
with tmobile wm6 you can type in letters and the dialer will convert it to numbers for you. htc unfortunately did not include this in their version. if anyone still running tmo wm6 can figure out the registry entrys for this and post them here that would be great!
also does anyone know how to change the text in the call screen to black? I want to get rid of that god awful green screen but i need darker text to be able to read it.
Bummer about the alpha-dialing, didn't realize that wasn't there until reading your post. That was a slick feature.
The green screens are awful (what were they thinking?), would be great if someone came up with a cab file that got rid of them all. The call status screen is butt-ugly, but the CommManager screen is worse.
Ideally, HTC should've created an application/configuration program that let the user choose their own color of branding... or... just made it blue.

I am sure this has been covered somewhere before but I was unable to locate the thread.
I just flashed Pro Black 3.0.1, wonderful rom by the way, and I have found the symbols on the keypad are confused. Is there a fix for this? I still haven't found my question mark.....
Thank you

Flames for my ignorance are welcome if they point in the right direction...
This is a known bug with the Cingular 8525.
You need to change the keyboard layout in registry: Go to registry editor program and find the key LOCAL MACHINE--->Software---->OEM--->Qwetry. Over there change the keybaord layout key to 40409 (hex value radio button should be selected). Then reboot the phone (turn it off and on) - and you all set.
Or if you have program HTC Custom: go to start>programs>system> htc custom> keyboard> put cingular.
Thank you, that is what I needed.
Ok I've searched, read the wiki, went through the registry from top to bottom and still can't find what I'm looking for. Does anyone know of a registry hack to increase the font size/type of the number you are dialing? Would be helpful for us older folk. Thanks in anticipation
Can we "downgrade" to the WM5 on-screen keyboard layout? I dont like skins that waste room, I just want the good old fashion WM5 version I have used over the last 2 years back!
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Dan
*bump* thanks for any input....
Have I stumped this board?
The base Keyboard dll are pretty much the same in WM5 and WM6. If you don't like the skin used on your WM6, you can always cook a new rom from it and replace the keyboard related files - well that's basically the idea but on how to cook and what to replace a bit of research will have to be done of course
one can also just install the skin one wants and use that no building a full rom is required
Try this package, it includes the original white with black letters and alot of others. It should work with your cooked WM6 rom

I figured this out a while ago and forgot about this topic. I am replying to help any searches people may have.
Solved.
To change the keyboard layouts:
While in notes/messaging/email/etc (where you can write) press the arrow to the right of the keyboard. This will open up the menu.
Be sure thet "keyboard" has the dot to the right of it.
Choose "options"
On the first "Input Method" tab, simply choose "small keys".
This will add the numbers on the top row as well as a few other keys that are missing with the "large keys" option.
Hope this helps someone. Cheers,
I have a new Tilt 2 (my last was the Tilt) from AT&T and I have been searching for a new dialer pad with bigger buttons. Unlike the original Tilt, the buttons aren't terrible but I would like them to be a bit bigger. Once upon a time, I installed the PaulyA dialer for the Tilt and I was wondering if there was a similarly large version for the Tilt2. I have tried several that had the wrong resolution (apparently not WVGA) but I can't find one that seems to work for the Tilt2.
I found a iPod look-alike that was kinda cool (lost the link) but it wouldn't replace the stock dialer, it was a separate app that had google voice (not what I need).
I found the Insoft Phone 5 product, but it seems to have issues with Caller ID. I was also looking for something that was either free OR was available in US $.
I also found the Dark Rhodium Touch Pro 2 Dialer but the buttons are just black and do not seem to be any bigger.
I understand that the smart dialer takes up a lot of real-estate but I would gladly sacrifice a couple of entries for bigger buttons.
BTW, I did run a search with some keywords but maybe I have missed the thread. If I have, please accept my apologies in advance.
Have you looked at Iconsoft PhonEx 2.2? One of the best dialers out IMO full screen contact pic ID and full screen dialer.
Thanks! That is exactly what I wanted. Lots more features than I had expected.
