Problem with Arcsoft MMS - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

As I've posted elsewhere (in another thread), I keep running into the same problem with Arcsoft MMS. Most of my contacts have multiple e-mail addresses. Regardless of which address I choose to send an e-mail too, it always gets sent to the first address in the contact's list!
So... My question is this: Is there any WM6 variant available which does NOT use Arcsoft MMS?
Thanks!

Duh...
I just realized that even the version of WM5 I'm running uses Arcsoft MMS 3.5! It won't allow me to send e-mails to anything but the primary e-mail address either.
So, I guess I'm asking the wrong question. It appears all WM builds, 5 and 6 alike, use Arcsoft MMS. What allows me to get by is the ability to send an e-mail via SMS.
So... The question then becomes: Are there any WM6 variants that will allow me to send an SMS message to an e-mail address?
Thanks!

Appears to me as though it's an issue with the way Arcsoft integrates with the M$ contact database. Seems to be matching/storing by display name, which has obvious pitfalls...
To date I haven't run across a version of MMS that does it "right".

Is there a cab for 3.5? I bave problems with the 4.0, which s integrated in Shaps 3.0c an my carrier... I can receive mms but I am not able to send...

This my problem with v4.0 ;(

SOLUTION!
Alright, after a little searching and a little guessing, I think I have the solution. To be able to send e-mails via SMS, you need the following registry values in HKLM\System\Inbox\Settings:
[DWORD] AllowSMStoSMTPAddress: 1
[DWORD] AllowSMStoSMTPConcatenation: 1
[STRING] SMStoSMTPShortCode: 121
These values were present in the version of WM5 which I was running. Adding them to Schap's 3.30c allowed me to send e-mails via SMS! Now I can go back to ignoring the problem with Arcsoft MMS and still enjoy WM6.
Cheers!

Sending email via SMS

After flashing my Cingular 8525 device with LVSW's latest WM6 rom, I can no longer send text (sms) messages to an email address as I was able to do before.
I found a workaround for this actually. I found this on wikibooks:
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Cingular_Wireless_FAQ#How_Can_I_Send_E-mail_From_Any_Cingular_Phone.3F
Basically instead of sending an email direct to an email address, you would send it to 121 with the email address at the beginning of the message body followed by a space. I tested it and it works, but it is a pain as I have to manually type the email address rather than choosing it from my address book.
Does anyone know of a permanent fix for this problem? The problem seems to be that there is no longer a gateway between SMS and email. I tried searching the registry for a possible fix but nothing jumps out at me. I also tried searching the forums and the wiki but to no avail.
Kudos to LVSW for a great rom, BTW...
This one might help,
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Inbox\Settings]
"SMStoSMTPShortCode"="121"

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried adding that value to my registry but it still isn't letting me send an SMS to an email address. Here's the exact error message:
"Cannot recognize one or more recipients or the address is not valid. Would you like to send the message anyway?"
So I hit yes then it says:
"The Text Message account cannot be used to send e-mail messages."
Anybody have any more ideas? Tomorrow I'm going to get a hold of a buddy at work that has a Cingular 8525 and see if I can find the settings in his registry.
Is this something that will be fixed possibly with the Cingular apps cab install? Or is that only applications and not settings such as this?

Maybe it could resolve
Hi,
Have the same error message on my TyTN when trying to send or reply to any SMS I receive.
Have found a solution on the web to resolve this and remove the error message :
go to messaging/menu/options/address tab
(in, contacts, get email addresses from) : choose [all e-mail fields].
Hope it can help some users ...
Regards to all
Thanks.
It did help. Solved m SMS problem.

WAP Push messages on WWE WM6

Hi, I upgraded my T-Mo MDA Mail to WM6 at the weekend and all is fine except for now my phone does not seem to be displaying WAP Push messages. I know that it has been delivered to the phone from the delivery report but it isnt showing . I need this for the work I do so if anyone knows why this is not working your help would be gratefully received.
B
anyone? Needing help on this as it is affecting my work
Did you check to see if you lost your WAP connections settings after the upgrade?
Go to Settings - Connections - GPRS and check. If you lost just create a new on with the correct settings for you mobile operator (you can find it on google or just call for support)

A WAP Push message is basically a text message with a URL embedded in it. All my inter settings are set up correctly (I do this sort of thing for a living) I just never actually receive the message :-s They should be delivered into the SMS inbox.

again you are thinking of Push email. My email is working fine and dandy. WAP push messages are also sometimes known as service messages and we use them when customers are looking to download JAVA games to their mobile. 99% of mobile devices support these service messages but the functionality seems to have disappeared on this version of WM6
i have the same problem with my mda3, please let me know, if you found a solution

Yahoo! Mail Issues

I really have no idea what the problem is here. I used to be able to send emails fine when I had WM 6.0 installed. I upgraded to 6.1 which automatically found imap settings for Yahoo Mail. This was working fine to send emails until recently.
Now I cannot seem to send emails at all but I can recieve them fine over imap. My phone (T-Mobile Vario II) doesn't seem to want to allow me to set up Yahoo Mail using the POP protocol; it automatically defaults to IMAP and gives me no option. I'm using Pays WM 6.1 ROM (build 3.05) if that makes any difference to anyone.
It's getting very frustrating not being able to send emails when I've just read an urgent one I've received!
Current settings are:
Incoming: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com (with authentication)
(No SSL on either server)
I don't seem to be able to find the port numbers.
Any help much appreciated!
thats the same settings i have and mine works, double check that the proxy is not enabled if you are using media net.
I had the same issue with CRC's rom. I'm lazy, so here is what I did:
1. Delete the account you created (imap).
2. Create a new account, but on the email field write something like [email protected] ...etc. (i.e. mispell yahoo)
3. Now it will ask you to setup the account manually, i.e. Internet mail, POP3, etc.
I use:
incoming -> pop.mail.yahoo.com:110
outgoing -> smtp.mail.yahoo.com:25 (Required SSL)
Hope this helps.
Many thanks dgaud007,
I hadn't thought of that and so obvious as well. Will be trying that immediately!
im having this same issue since goin to 6.1 on a Dash. Tried the yaho.com suggestion elow but it still won't always send.
Any ideas?

Win Mobile has always auto configured my Yahoo! account to IMAP (which I am pretty happy about anyway)... That said, I'm using a yahoo.co.uk account.. Don't know whether it applies to yahoo.com accounts..
I have tried using the Auto Configure and tried configuring it manually. Still cannot send about half of the time. Very weird because it always worked fine until I went to the 6.1 ROM.

From what I read in one of the Kaiser threads from incognito there was a brief mention of a bug in the 6.1 builds were about 1/2 of the time the logon authorization fails. It has happened to me even on the new 19213 version. I don't know how to fix it at this point (if it's something that can be done after the ROM is cooked). I'm using PAP authentication for now, and so far, haven't seen the issue again.
I'm still having this same issue. Anyone else? Any ideas on how to make Yahoo! outgoing email work with Kavana's 6.1 ROM?

How can I get IMAP working again?
I have recently installed Windows Mobile 6.5 on Kaiser. I was able to access yahoo mail for some time but now I can not both send and receive mails. I have also tried the method incoming -> pop.mail.yahoo.com:110
outgoing -> smtp.mail.yahoo.com:25 (Required SSL) and it is also not working. I have recently installed G-Profile and 3G Dialer may be they have caused the problem.

Upgraded Dash to WM6.1 Kavana but cannot send MMS/Email

I'm using the WM6.1 ROM that Kavana put together. Latest one available for download. After installing it I find that I can no longer send MMS messages nor can I send email through google mail (Gmail). I can connect to my wifi at home and have browsed the internet with my phone after the install.
MMS messages just stated that the message cannot be sent. Gmail says there's an error synchronizing.
Any solutions?

Cant send email

So all of a sudden, I can not send emails from my dash. I can receive them just fine, I have no issues with mms, internet or anything else.
I have the kavana 6.1, ( love it) the full blown 20 dollar internet deal.
I have tried to completely delete my gmail account and re run the setup and still no sending emails. I can not send from my other email accounts either from this phone.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jeff

Are you using the right entries for the incoming and outgoing mail server?
See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396126&highlight=smtp
Moderator: might be a good idea to make the thread a sticky.
So my problem seems to be the same as the listed in that thread, I just redid my "connections wizard" and it is sending now. For how long, I dont know.
Thank you all and I will keep looking here for a solution.
Jeff
Jeff: read all the entries in the thread. It is a known problem and there is a registry hack to allow you to enter a valid SMTP server string into the requisite OEM field. The standard WM6.1 build ships with this value set to NULL (or even worse it might be set to " ")
