History:
O2XDA IIs unbranded on corporate 0506 at setup.
Sim lock 1.6 to accept vodaphone sim.
Vodafone connect me ppc loaded to set up vodafone email / internet.
Magic button installed.
All was working fine for a couple of weeks then tom tom 5 installed.
Did not work properly so removed.
Then started to get the error above.
Hard reset, using corporate and 0506 code to unbrand.
No need to sim unlock this time.?
Synched ok with active sync 3.8 on laptop (laptop with McAfee Virusscan)
Sync 3.7 on XDA IIs/Blueangel.
Loaded Connect me.
error on loading as stated that the software was for an earler version of windows mobile.
Now getting error above with the port.
Have searched for 2 days on various forums and am really at my wits end..
Help! - I am an idiot when it comes to these things but where do i check what version of active sync i should use and what version of windows mobic -2003 CE or mobile 5 I have / should use.
Would need a very simple idiots guide .....
Newbie loses always the active sync connection just before updating its hermes from WM5 (OS 5.1.195 Build 14955.2.3.0) to the new WM6 (ENG Vers.). It's a MDA Vario II from T Mobile Germany (SIM unlocked!) and I have no clue what I am doing wrong - As soon as the progress bar starts to indicate the update my active sync connection goes down and of course I get the error message "failure connection".
Thx for any help! GeHu
I had the same exact problem. I can't pinpoint what exactly is going wrong (i just got my 8525 a few days ago, and decided to mess with it, so I'm a complete noob at this) but what I did was just use one of the repackaged versions. That did the trick for me D:
I am confused. If you mean you run a rom upgrade and then plug the phone in, then it is doing what it is supposed to do. You should fully sync your phone then run the rom upgrade. The upgrade will disconnect activesync and then put the phone into bootloader and run the upgrade.

It's an activesync problem. Either delete activesync and re-install it and then, try it again and it should work or try it on another computer

Also make sure you have installed HardSPL first.

ok people notice how gehu0003 states "SIM unlocked!"......thus he most probably has a different bootloader.......1.40.olipro im willing to bet.
gehu0003...please do the following:
update to HardSPL v7 : This will make sure your SPL is up to date.
then
go to THIS THREAD....and download the DOPOD WM6 ROM. Use this repackaged ROM since it has CustomRUU which will recognise your updated SPL version. Enjoy.
thank u guys. i am fine now with the new HardSPL.
hey guys,
i'm having problems with this too, it disconnects me while i try to update to the hardspl.
any ideas?
thanks
how it worked for me
i had the same problem, while flashing rom, just before entering bootloader mode with some rom's it would disconnect and drop the usb conection. to fix it, now i enter the bootloader manually : press and hold (on) and (ok) buttons and reset with the pen. it should enter bootloader mode and in my case it doesn't drop usb conection to PC and allow me to reflash
cheers
I have flashed into the E1 English ROM (the one without the opera browser) and encountered some issues, I might have had them in previous ROMs as well, and I am wondering whether there is a solution for them:
1) Cannot set the IE homepage, it will always refer back to SamsungMobile
2) Cannot sync via Blue-tooth, even though a partnership is set with my PC, and ActiveSync is enabled I keep getting a message: "Cannot connect using Bluetooth to a PC that supports ACtivesync. You may be out of range. Would you like to create a bluetooth partnership with a different PC?"
Clicking Yes does not help here and the Bluetooth wont sync
Did anyone find a resolution for this matters?
i have the original E1 rom, i dont think the activesync prob is related to the rom as mine has no prob activesyncing using BT since the A1 rom.
btw make sure u are using the latest activesync on the pc.
use your phone to detect your pc, not the other way around, then try activesync. if u still cant, use your pc's BT to establish a serial connection to the phone, then start activesync on your phone.
Sorry for my being so inept on this but I have an 838 from Australia and I wanted to change it to use in the US on my ATT/Cingular account. It only displays Asia/Pacific countries so I can't select ATT for internet connection.
I have Vista Business and tired to install the Hard-SPL but even though I've been able to sync my contacts and calendar directly to my laptop, the Hard-SPL dies and says it can't connect to my 838.
I took the next route of trying to install the ATT build with the boot loader but get invalid vendor ID.
The phone works with UMTS ATT as the carrier but I can't connect to my email via the web since I can't set the connection.
Any help would be appreciated.
If you install and run the HTC Network Wizard, you should be able to select United States/AT&T and let it do all the configuration for you.
Once installed, the shortcut icon should appear in Settings/Connections.
File attached.
Seriously though, if you are gonna try to stuff around with the os without knowing what can happen INSTALL HARD SPL... Look on page 116, post #1160 of this thread to do it with the sd card - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
Cheers...
Thanks for the suggestions. I keep trying to install the Hard-SPL but following the instructions, it says that WMDC on Vista must be running and it does in fact connect to the 838, but as soon as I try to run the install, it disconnects and ends up coming back with an error that says it can't talk to the device. Frustrating.
Also, since I'm having this comm problem between my laptop and the 838, is it possible to load the Hard-SPL software on miniSD chip and execute it from there?

Yes you sure can. Make sure you read the instructions on how to flash from SD first!
Already gave you directions to instructions to find out how to flash via sd card... All programs needed are in the link I gave you WITH the post # too...
Cheers...
Thanks to all. Now have it working. Really only needed to install and run the unlimited Network Wizard and it all came into place.
Thanks again

Well after reading the last thread I'm still having problems my notebook doesn't recognize the phone as a standard modem I've installed various vista drivers found on other threads still no luck!!
os windows vista 64
im using vista64. it shouldnt matter which version you are using because drivers are automatically installed when you connect via usb. when i first plugged in my tp2, it automatically set everything up. dont try to configure the modem crap in MyComputer, but rather just hook up via the internet sharing app on the tp2 or if your laptop supports wifi, enable wifi on your tp2 and search for the signal on your laptop. the above mentioned forum topics should have more than helped. its easier than you make it bro. btw, are your carrier internet settings correct? here are settings for Tmobile and ATT. hope this helps.
For sure give this thread a read: Wifi Internet Sharing
It's the easiest way to turn your phone into a router and get internet on your laptop. That said, if your laptop or desktop isnt wifi enabled then you'll just have to teather it using "internet sharing" I havn't seen a rom yet (even my stock ATT rom had it I believe) that doesn't have internet sharing built into it as a standard option in the com manager or in the connections settings.
if you dont have the internet sharing app, its HERE in this thread
This most be very disappointing for all of you that have tried to help me on this issue but I'm still having problems...
List of things tried already
1. Installed internet sharing but cant get the phone to connect via usb, the wifi recieve data I've tried the phone on my home network without sim card and it browses the net without problems but can't use it as a router with or without the sim card
2. Follow the att instructions but my phone has the media net setting locked and I can't edit them
"Media Net This connection is pre configure. It cannot be modify'
3. installed all kind of drivers still not recognized as a standard modem
Last drivers instaled was using wmdriverinstaler
Even gone to you tube!!
Toshiba satellite a305 wifi enabled
vista home premiun 64
att tilt 2 rom1.59.502.3 rom date 9/25/09 wm6.5
CE OS 5.2.21849 build 21849.5.0.63
att $30 unlimited data plan ("no thethering" din't need it with the blackberry since it work as a dial up modem)
I wont give up I like this htc better than my BB curve!!!
Is it a rom issue?
Drivers issue?
att plan that has to upgragded to tehter "won't go there"
Unlocking the phone?
Thanks!!
Have you tried connecting the laptop to the phone via Bluetooth (if you have that option on your laptop)? I was trying to get Internet Sharing going this way, and once I paired the two, I got an option to use the phone as a dial-up modem, rather than just sharing the phone's ATT data connection (which sounds like exactly what you are looking for). For some reason, I got this option when I connected via Bluetooth, and not USB. Also, I'm using XP, and not Vista, so I don't know if that will change the options.

which rom are you using?
ok so if you are using the stock rom, why cant you connect? your settings are automatically set up on a stock rom. you must have done something in the connections settings to screw up your connection. just reflash the stock rom.
Well thanks for all the help and suggestions but the problem was the actual phone
I went to ATT and changed the unit and now it works fine I was able to connect via internet sharing using wifi apparently there was hardware failure with my original tilt
Thanks you for all your help!!!
